The arcade, the atmosphere, even the familiar smell brought back so many memories of growing up. The best part? It still had that same classic Shakey's feel, and the pizza was every bit as good as I remembered--maybe even better. I'm really glad we stopped by and took a little trip down memory lane. I ordered a pizza and some wings. Simple enough order. The pizza was decent. I got the all meat and it was a good meat pizza. But for some reason, it's greasy. Idk if it's from the amalgamation of meat or the cheese or the combination of it all. But it's greasy. Pizza was decent though. I would give it a solid 4 out 5. But the wings. The wings. First of all, the menu in store doesn't specify what kind of wings they have. I thought it was drums and flats. Those are wings. But they also have little chicken nuggets, and they claim them to be 'boneless breaded wings.' If I had known that I had to specify what kind of wings I wanted, I would have. But I didn't, so I didn't. I ordered my Honey BBQ 'wings' and pizza and went back to my hotel. When I opened the wings, I got a collection of sad looking nuggets with the slightest drizzle of sauce. The amount of sauce they had on the wings was near non existent. A small goopy dab on the bottom of the bowl and that's it. If you want a good pizza and some decent sides, check out a smaller pizza shop. The prices are better and the food will be too.

The latest promotion was this Big Easy menu, sort of a take on Cajun Now Orleans themed food. My super fave dish, the Cajun sauced chicken with andouille sausage over penne pasta with a nice mix of green and red bell peppers and onion was my go to dish, priced at just $11.99. Now that I guess that promo had ended, the same dish is now $18.00! Gezees that's a big ass price hike. Not worth $18 in my book! Some of the other items on the former menu didn't go up, but were kinda pricey already, like the sizzling shrimp and chicken with mashed potatoes at around $18.50. It's still the same price. All I can say is the saving grace is the Really Big Meal Deal is still available, though, not listed on the table menu. You have to ask for it. I got that $9.99 deal with the big bacon cheeseburger and endless fries along with a refillable drink. That's a deal compared to the rest of the menu. My friend had a new dish called the Tex Mex bowl with shrimp and chicken. That was around $15.50 ... not super bargain, but I guess those are all gone these days. My friend actually like that dish a lot. My burger was fantastic as usual, lots of bacon and cheese and a decent sized patty. I even got some fries extra to go. Refilled my drink too. Applebee's is not quite the super bargain deal it once was, but at least they still have the 1/2 off happy hour appetizers from 3pm - 6pm everyday, not just weekdays!

Ginger at the Oroville Applebee's deserves her own fan club…read more In a world where good service feels rare, Ginger delivered the kind of experience that turns a casual stop into the highlight of your night. She was fast, friendly, hilarious, and somehow managed to make the whole bar feel like the place to be. She didn't just make drinks--she created a vibe. Every cocktail came out perfect, every recommendation hit, and she handled everything with the kind of confidence and warmth that you cannot fake. What stood out most was how effortless she made it all look. Busy bar? No problem. Multiple guests needing attention? She was on it. She made everyone feel seen, welcomed, and taken care of. That level of professionalism mixed with genuine personality is rare, and Ginger has it in spades. Honestly, Applebee's is lucky to have her. If you're in Oroville and want great drinks, great energy, and service that actually makes you want to come back, sit at Ginger's bar. She's not just a bartender--she's the reason people become regulars. 10/10. Ask for Ginger.

Watching the cooks hard at work and mastery of Mongolian bbq was like a well-oiled machine. Watching the cooks and seeing staff continuously refill the food, toppings, and sauce containers for customers, while also putting out more bowls and trays, was like watching a flawless production! As for our food, the price of lunch is bang for buck because of how much you can fill your Mongolian BBQ bowl and the soup, rice, and addicting wonton chips with sweet and sour dipping sauce that come with your lunch meal. I gave 4 stars because the garlic and potato soup was super salty. My friends and I agreed this soup would have been perfect if it didn't taste like salt was poured into it. In addition, watching the cross contamination of some diners touching the raw meat in their bowls then touching the next tongs, like for the veggies, was a big health risk concern for me. With this, I keep in mind that I don't even know if this can be prevented due to the way Mongolian BBQ works with customers serving themselves, like a buffet. I understand it would be hard to control and prevent the cross contamination from touching the meat, especially as customers try to make room in their big bowl. In the end, the number of people dining, then seeing more people entering, shows how popular Hula's is!
