They had a variety of choices. We did not know what to get as everything sounded good. I got the Springfield signature dish - the Horseshoe Sandwich which was delicious! My companions got a burger, Potato Soup, Wings, and catfish. Do not miss out on their cobbler! The crust was perfection! Also, make sure to get the Sweet Tea. It's made in house and is the right amount of sweet. We all had our fill! On top of it all our server was so kind and welcoming and friendly! She made sure our sweet tea was always filled. The place itself is spacious. The outdoor space looked like it could be a lot of fun in the evening.

Mixed review. My best friend & I stopped on our way to Garden of the Gods. She had a BLT & fries &…read moreshe said it was good. I ordered a Philly Cheese steak sandwich, fries & fried jalapeños (because I had never heard of them) the fried jalapeños were way way too salty, the meat on the cheese steak had no flavor, no seasoning at all, it was cold & the the texture was off putting. The fries were also too crispy for me but I will own that one. I didn't specify to make them softer. And my meal alone... almost $30 bucks!!! The waitress took too long to take our drink order & then seemed rushy to get our order. She seemed more concerned with working the customers at the bar. She wasn't rude, just inattentive. The decor was awesome tho & it was peaceful in there. The bathrooms were very nice & clean with funny signs. It will not be a repeat experience for me.

Service - I have been upwards of 15 times now, and every time, the servers and hosts were cheery and kind. They rarely (if ever) have gotten anything incorrect on our orders. A few times, we have been abandoned by our server, but I assume it is because of our placement in the far room of the establishment, and I can count these occurrences on one hand. Ambiance - The front room is cozy and refracts the sound in such a way that the noise of the busy room is hardly noticeable. There are two other rooms as well, becoming less nice in quality of atmosphere as you get further from the doorway. The second room is nice and it's next to the main server-kitchen hall. The third room is similar to a miniature cafeteria and echoes easily. In general, I'd heavily recommend trying the place out! My only piece of advice is to avoid the back rooms if you can.

There was no taste to them except for what they considered BBQ sauce. They looked like they had been boiled. The baked beans were definitely not homemade and more than likely were the cheapest brand out there with no additional seasoning, ie. Brown sugar which would have helped. The mashed potatoes had the appearance of powdered potatoes. Seriously probably the most disgusting meal I've ever eaten at a restaurant that claimed to be a BBQ establishment. Additionally, I had to wait 20 minutes to be served and I was one of three customers at the time I ordered.

MEO MYO is one of few restaurants in this town that provides a menu devoid of the usual fried fast food or burgers you will run into in most establishments in the area, and I was presently surprised as to how good the food was. I had the gumbo, and as one previous commenter mentioned, it's not NOLA but it's still the best gumbo I've had in the state of Illinois (outside of Chicago). Wasn't raised on the stuff but I went to undergrad in Mississippi so I like to think I can at least tell the difference between good and bad gumbo. Cornbread was also pretty good. Definitely give it a shot, I'll be back to try the etouffee and the shrimp and grits at some point in the near future. Attached is the menu-- Couldn't find it on here or anywhere online. Hope it helps
