This location is a little separated from the rest of downtown but it's a trip you will no regret. They ensure they grab hot off the press donuts for glazed every time. I tried the Reese Pieces one and wasnt super impressed. It was ok, just nothing exciting taste wise. New York cheesecake is always a staple pick. Clean and friendly staff here. No big wait. Since I was in the area, I figured I would go to another Raleigh landmark eatery. I ate two of the original glazed doughnuts with a bottle of milk. Have not had a KK doughnut in some time, so I sat there and enjoyed those wonderful fresh made delights. The coffee is good, however, the service was lacking during my first visit to this particular KK. I ordered a large coffee with sugar and extra cream via the drive thru. My cup of coffee is filled to the brim and I was provided a baggy with sugars and creams. A couple things: - Why fill the coffee to the brim if when adding cream and sugar the coffee would surely overflow the cup? I do mean to the BRIM of the cup it was filled. Some of it spilled when I removed the lid to attempt to add the cream and sugar. Ultimately I had to dump some of the coffee. - Why am I given a baggy in the first place??? Can the employs not simply add the cream and sugar then mix it themselves? Is that not their job or is this some ridiculous COVID-protocol in effect? There was clearly zero communication, or inadequate communication between the person who took my order and the person who put the order together (these were two different people I observed through the drive thru). Starbucks employed mix the additives into their beverages for customers. This ridiculous policy forced me to fumble around and spill the contents in my vehicle while idled in their parking lot; also, if the service was rapid and multiple people were doing this in the parking lot or along the adjacent street it would cause unnecessary and unsafe vehicular glut. I was told that I never REALLY lived in North Carolina until I got myself a hot Krispy Kreme donut, and I never understood what all the hype was about...until last night. I stepped in around 8pm last night and the place was packed! Behind the counter you can see the donuts making their way down the conveyor belt as they're being fried, flipped, and glazed, and then hand picked right off the belt for every order of hot Original glazed donuts. I ordered a three pack of the glazed and WOW, honestly I probably could've demolished all of them in 2 minutes. The donuts practically melted in your mouth! Service in general was slow and it seemed like their payment system was having such a hard time with credit cards that I just fished out some cash. A little annoying but no biggie. Take note that the app may not be exactly up-to-date with the hot sign (it wasn't for me), so you might want to call in advance if you're making a long trip out to the factory. This has to be one of raleigh's tourist attractions. The place is always crawling with customers. The staff does an credible job and getting customers in and out in a timely fashion. Sometimes when I'm going past the establishment it's disappointing when I don't see the hot light on, therefore I normally just wait and come back later in the afternoon. The parking situation is kind of tight at this location. I love the concept of the dining area because it has a huge window where you can look into the production room and see donuts being made. The establishment is kind of old so it doesn't look as clean but the donuts are still amazing.
