I'm not sure how to describe how much I like donuts. I travel the world in search of baked goods,…read moreso when I say this is a good donut, I mean it. Like, it is really good. One of the best I've ever had. I've tried the strawberry one, oreo one, another glazed one with walnuts. Mmm mm. They are light and sweet and not too greasy (which is a big problem with homemade donuts). I walk by here every time I go to the yoga studio and that is dangerous. I tried a bagel sandwich the other day that was also good, but the bagel just wasn't as crispy on the outside as I like it. I am sort of a bagel snob since I hail from New York City though, so I might be overanalyzing it. I'd likely go back and eat another because I like bagel sandwiches. The soup I tried was just meh, curry cauliflower, I found it too thin. But the donuts will definitely be my #1 item and I'll probably end up buying them every single week at this rate.

Deadly Donuts have gotten into the donut revolution early, and they're gooooood. I tried coming here a few times before actually being able to have a donut. A sign hangs in the window letting people know if the donuts are sold out but it's misleading- the cafe is still open even when sold out (it looks like a closed sign so I've passed by before without realising they were open) and last time I was here the sold out sign was up but the donuts were brought out five minutes later. The owner is a lovely hard working guy who knows his fried goods and loves a chat about tasty treats. He has just started hosting weekly BYOB dinners which also sound brilliant. Highly recommend coming here and persevering for donuts!

Well, well, well, we meet at last! I've heard so much, so show me a good time. Oh yeah!…read more I've had Krispy Kreme doughnuts previously down in Bath and Bristol. So, I knew I would treated to the max and the choices would be good but how good is Edinburgh?! I have heard about the 24 hour drive-thru and all about the queues. Angela B. and I decided to go here for part of my birthday day out in Edinburgh. She did also have special orders from her Mr to get many doughnuts-to-go, or else. No argument there! It has been opened for a quite a while now, so it was a pleasant, non-busy, non-queuing experience. We enjoyed watching the Doughnut Theatre in full action and taking lots of photos in the process. We made our way up to the counter and I needed sugar fast as I was flagging, lots of birthday excitement, and I was still to drive back to Glasgow. I ordered a strawberries and cream, I like doughnut with a filling best, along with a mocha and cream. Sugar rush!!! Yas! I ordered separately 3 doughnuts to take away, an original glazed, another strawberries and cream and a glazed raspberry filled doughnut. Delicious! As we had came into a Hotlight store, Angela had good knowledge here, it meant it had a Hotlight Happy Hour and it at the exact time we arrived, between 7.00pm - 8.00pm. Ya dancer! This meant we were treated to a free original glazed doughnut, hot off the line. Oh man, it was like biting into fluffy sugary clouds. It was amazing! I think I may have boarded on delirious. Please note they don't automatically do this, we had to ask and then double check with another staff member we were getting the doughnuts. So ask! Edinburgh you have proved to be worthy and I would more than happily go back. So with our Krispy Kreme hats, balloons, doughnuts-to-go and a faces so high on sugar, we skipped merrily on our way.

Honestly, what's not to LOVE about this place?? Very little, that's what!…read more In Edinburgh for business, my colleagues and I decided after dinner to take a drive to Krispy Kreme for some doughnuts! There was really no way we weren't going as none of us live or work in Edinburgh, so it was a basic must. The staff were super friendly, singing in the back while making the doughnuts. The counter staff gave us a heads up when we were trying to decide which doughnuts to get. My friend and I both wanted to take a dozen back to Glasgow, and realised the 2 boxes (one dozen plain glazed, one dozen mixed) for £16.95 was the best deal. They let us know that if we wanted to go for that deal, they would split the plain glazed and the mixed in to two separate boxes depending on our individual wants. Um, sold! While we were waiting, we all received a free hot off the presses doughnut, which totally put us over the edge as far as how stuffed we were from dinner. It was such a great experience. Edinburgh really isn't so far away, and there are plenty of people who would road trip it there just for some Krispy Kreme. B line it there, ASAP!

As the name would suggest it's loaded with American style food, don't be down heartened though this is no run of the mill 'American diner' serving cheap hot dogs and yucky burgers from the cash and carry. The food from Nic's is tasty, well thought out and delicious. There are of course the likes of baked potatoes and sandwiches with lovely looking toppings to be enjoyed. My eyes however were very much glued to the Hot Dog menu where you can try such delights as the amazing Cheesy Pig Dog ( bacon and cheese) or the BBQ Dog (sweet fried onions, BBQ Sauce and dill pickle) or the very tempting Glasga Dog ( black Pudding and fried egg). What makes these dogs in my opinion the best take away dogs in Glasgow is that they fry off their dogs for a few minutes which makes them extra tasty. I've not tried the freshly made pancakes or waffles yet but they do come with some lovely looking toppings - the Banana Beast ( banana, maple, pecan nuts and ice cream) Peanut Butter Jelly Time (peanut butter and blackcurrant or strawberry jam) or the Sweet Porker Stack ( bacon and maple syrup) these are definitely next on my list to try from the menu. On my last visit I finally gave in to the cool looking doughnuts. These lovely little clouds of light dough are made in-house ensuring they are as fresh as they come. The base is so soft and flavoursome, the topping is a luscious thick layer of fondant sprinkled with a variety of American style toppings - Oreo, peanut butter cups, smarties, marshmallows......the list is endless. What really excited me tho was while chatting with the girls they announced that they were expecting their doughnut menus to arrive any minute. Hang on! Let's just think about that for a second........a menu......dedicated to doughnuts.......it's the stuff of dreams! Nic's is a great wee lunch spotwhere they use really good quality food and the girls who work there are all lovely and helpful when trying to make your selection....what's not to love about this place.

When you go in, it looks just like a normal deli... then you notice the amazing menu (taco bowls, proper dogs, "Triple Bypass" baguette etc.) and the cheeky bottle of Buckfast that's apparently used on Fridays to make some of their food a little more special. Going back to the food, it did take me a couple of minutes to choose what to have because EVERYTHING looked awesome. Even the SALADS!!! I was guided by the lovely staff who work there and plumped for the Taco bowl. A large, crispy tortilla shaped into a bowl stuffed with salad, guacamole, sour cream, PULLED PORK (this was my topping), covered with jack cheese and some Glasgow Megadeath chilli sauce. Great stuff. And for dessert you MUST get one of their special donuts... loads of flavours. Think Krispy Kreme but without the nasty aftertaste (you know what I mean!). If you've never been here, cancel all of your other plans and go here ASAP! You won't regret it...

I had ventured out to the outlets on a random adventure day and needed to find some cash for parking. I was running through the mall like a mad woman and obviously stumbled across this gem. It was still early enough in the morning to justify having a donut for breakfast, so I found an ATM, took out some cash and needed to break my cash for the parking ticket machine. I figured Krispy Kreme was as good as any place to break my cash. There's plenty of seating if you want to rest your feet after a long day of shopping and it's cozy and inviting. There was only one girl working and she seemed a little in over her head with the 4 people waiting to be served. She had just served a family with 3 kids and I was up next. She took my order and told me I'd have to wait a second to have my coffee made as she needed to make the previous customers coffees as well. No bother, I scarfed down my donuts while I waited. Yes, I said donuts, I ordered the pumpkin spice and the lemon meringue. Probably two of my most favourite donuts. Unfortunately, the pumpkin spice is only here for a limited time and I rarely see the lemon meringue. Ahh, oh well, probably for the best. I got my coffee and my change for parking and made my way back to the parking lot. I love this place, I can't help it.

The best thing about Krispy Kreme is of course the glass cabinet of wonder, which struck smudge dumb and immobile as the poor sausage tried to choose just one doughnut. I might be using this tactic of child control again during the very long summer holidays. We chose our doughnuts and a drink to sit in. The cafe is actually alright and if you are facing away from the greggs across the way an alright place to sit for refuelling. The doughnuts were exactly why we ordered - sugar, fat and sprinkles. In smudge's opinion the only food groups that matter. The americano was pretty grim but does anyone go to Krispy Kreme for the coffee?

Thanks to Carolyn E for adding the photo of this place otherwise I was in such an oblivion I think I'd have missed it! So, they do doughnuts. I'm not sure the name is entirely accurate as they didn't seem to be hot when I purchased them - although the owner did tell me they are made fresh on site every day so they are HOT in that sense. Today there was a selection of doughnuts - no mini ones, sadly - I got the chocolate & blueberries, coconut and chocolate & custard doughnuts. Now, I'll be honest - I don't really have a sweet tooth and I prefer doughnuts which are relatively plain and sugar coated rather than icing. I've tried the chocolate & blueberries one so far and thought it was really good, clearly fresh and a really nice filling which was a bit unusual. Prices are reasonable at £1.50 for a two filling doughnut and £1 for a single filling. They also sell things like coffee, baked cheesecakes, hot dog bake and ham & cheese bake. The owner was super friendly and welcoming, and really helpful. This wee shop definitely deserves a visit.

I don't think they're very much like a regular doughnut as we know them and more like a big sweet filled bun with glazing. I think it's the glaze they use I'm not keen on ~ I've tried 2 different flavours and they both had the same, overpowering, candied fruits flavour glazing on them which detracted from the actual filling flavour/s. Their fresh, mini (and proper hot) doughnuts however I am a fan of. You can get them in plain sugared or coated in cinnamon. I opted for cinnamon & they were delicious. You get 4 smaller, ringed doughnuts for £1.20 which I think is really good, especially considering they cook them fresh to order. As well as doughnuts they sell baked cheesecake which I haven't tried yet and some savoury snacks too such as toasties. They also have a basic selection of hot drinks. The lady who works here is always really friendly and does try a bit of the ol' up-sale on you which is fair enough as they're a small business trying to get by and with just selling such few products at a very cheap price (most doughnuts are only £1 each) you do have to wonder how long they'll be around for... If you're in the area then deffo pop in and give them a try. The mini hot fresh doughnuts are delicious & you can save yourself a trip to The Fort by getting them here!
