These pies are a great light lunch or snack when consumed by themselves. Or one can get a variety of them and make it a meal. The pies are made fresh daily and displayed in the glass case at the counter along with other British style fried foods such as Tattie Dogs, Sausage Rolls, etc. There are a variety of the infamous pies offered. We tried a Steak and Ale pie and an Original Scotch Pie with brown sauce packet for the pour over. I enjoyed mine (Scotch Pie) and could've eaten a couple more God willing. Along with an Irn Bru, this was a satisfying and affodable meal. Definitely give this place a try when in the area.

They make perfect snack sized pastries that let you try a variety without getting too full. Compared to other local pasty shops their baked pastries use better ingredients and are better cooked. I love how flaky and golden colored the pasties were. You'll find a variety of traditional pasties here as well as some unique creations worth checking out. My kids loved the hasbrowns wrapped around a sausage so much we ordered an extra one even though they said they weren't hungry before. This is located in a busy area and there are a small amount of seats inside against the window and a small table next to the drinks. There isn't any seating or place to sit outside so I wouldn't plan on eating here.

This place is right by The Vennel so it was a convenient location on my midday stroll. I first walked by and there was maybe 10 people in line so I decided to get it after visiting The Vennel. On my way back there were only 3 people ahead of me so great timing to enjoy delicious gelato in the cold but clear skies overlooking the castle. And I did just that. I was torn between the Salted Caramel and the Pistachio and I knew I couldn't finish 2 full scoops. The worker saw the indecision painted all over my face and recommended the Pistachio since it was a limited item. So I went with that. To my surprise she also included a large spoonful of the Salted Caramel just so I can try it too! Such a nice gesture. So there I was enjoying the creamy, delicious gelato sitting on a bench just across from Mary's Milk Bar. All the while indulging and soaking in the magnificent view of the castle and the very tasty gelato :)

There quite a bit of tables with guests. I waited a little bit and no one showed up to greet me so I took a moment to take a small video of the dining area and front counter when I hear a lady from behind me yelling at for making my quick video. She demanded I delete the video immediately- I was still in shock that she had yelled at me in front of the other customers who are now looking at both of us. Feeling awkward I told it was just one person to eat here and she sat me down and walked away. After a few minutes, while she was gone in the back, I noticed a few other tables were either waiting to get their order out in or waiting for their food. After some time, I see her walking back to the front, I get up and let her know I changed my mind, that I don't want to eat here so she simply smiled in agreement. Not recommending this place to anyone. I hope if you decide to visit that you have a better experience than I did.

So to me, what makes each branch different is their team work ethic and individual personalities and how they blend together. You never have the time to get to know your team of staff, and as soon as you strike up friendships and rapport with a team, they are moved on to a different store so you then have to restart the process of getting to know your new team. This can be a pain seeing as I work in the area. If all you are after is extra calories and stodge then, my friend, welcome to Heaven. 3 stars because across the board, Greggs do what they set out to do, keep you full for a low price.

The thing is though, it's actually pretty good! I used to be quite embarrassed walking in here, but now I can walk in with my head held high! Their sandwiches are made fresh on the premises, and if they don't have your preference then they make it there and then! Their sausage rolls though...uhhhh their sausage rolls....they bring me to my knees! You can get two for £1 if you're lucky. This branch is really good too because they have huge patio doors that are always open, so the shop feels really open and airy.
