    Three Tree Montessori School

    Three Tree Montessori School

TTM is a pedagogically-observant Montessori school, which will come as a relief to those parents…read morewho believe in the method and seek something more for their kids (and their expense) than a glorified day care. The classes are appropriately sized and more than adequately staffed with Montessori-trained guides & aides, and feature a full complement of beautiful wood, metal, and fabric Montessori-specific works arranged to allow curious minds instant access to meaningful, self-directed learning. The administrative staff is exceptional, led by a 20+ year veteran of both Pacific Crest Montessori & Northwest Montessori School. While transparently placing the student experience first (as they should), this administration takes great pains to accommodate the needs of parents by being respectful of the scant spare time available to most parents, and by reaching out to parents with lots of pertinent information & updates. The building itself is a high-security cruciform arrangement where toddler, primary, and elementary classes are housed in their own wings. It appears to be a former hospice or nursing home, the practical upshot of which is wide hallways and doors, bright sunny rooms, and lots of 'safety' hardware in common areas. The outside play areas are securely fenced (with locking, key-coded gates) and include play structures, gardening, and opportunities to get messy in real dirt in the time-honored tradition. The location is a quarter mile off WA-509 in Burien at 160th Street, just down the street from Highline Medical Center. We make the drive from Capitol Hill every day in 20 minutes. The location is also served by several bus lines from downtown Seattle (#131 & #121 pass 1/8 mi. to the east @ 160th & 1st; #123 1/8 mi. to the west @ 160th & 4th).

The staff are incredible and the families, along with the children are amazing. Each day I go to school, I am amazed by the love and ability of the teaching staff, class assistants and the support staff. Each one cares deeply for the children and it shows in all they do. I am also incredibly proud of our administration and board of directors. They have weathered many storms through the years well and led us through difficulties with wisdom, always putting the children and their care first.

We brought our son there at 1yr of age and it has been one of our best parenting decisions yet. The staff has been caring, communicative and extremely helpful. The nap training alone has been worth it! I could write more and more, but mostly importantly, our child is happy, constantly learning and hasn't lost an ounce of his bright personality. The first drop offs are the hardest, but the 50th start feeling pretty freeing. A feeling you only gain with trust your child's in good hands. Thank You Kent Campus. It's been a good year!

From the infant room all the way up to the elementary school age kids, my 4 kids ABSOLUTELY enjoy their time here every day. I have 1 kid in the infant room, toddler room and lastly elementary. I have used this center as well as the previous Learning Land center on 256th street for a grand total of 5 years and counting. All workers here are diverse, friendly, informative, safe, empathetic, supportive, nurturing, patient, experienced and licensed. I would HIGHLY recommend this childcare center to all parents needing childcare over anybody and any other center. -Raya S-

I was on the search for something local and affordable but yet still can meet the slight standards I have. I gave the school a call and this school was the only school that answered me with an actual person on the call (not some machine). The teacher over the phone was so informative and stated that I can visit the school. The tour was done the same week of calling and my son loved it. He didn't even want to leave. He felt so comfortable there even though he had never been out of our sights. I would recommend parents to give this preschool a chance! Every teacher had their own age they teach and a set curriculum. It was clear from the start what they do with the kids.

South Preschool gave him a rock solid foundation that I believe continues to benefit him to this day (he is currently finishing up 2nd grade). My youngest child attended South Preschool for the last 3 years, through the onset of Covid shut downs, virtual learning, and the cautious return to school. The school has helped bring out all the best in him, and the things he has accomplished, from beginning reading, to the emotional maturity he has gained, amazes me. Ms. Pedersen and Ms. Knight, along with all of the aides and assistants who have helped throughout the years, are nothing short of incredible. Their dedication, flexibility, and genuine love for what they do shines through every day. Both of my children have benefitted immensely from their time at the school, and our family will truly miss the teachers and our time there. Thank you South Preschool!

It's very hard for working parents as I'm also returning to work soon But holy moly I am beyond impressed! Ms. Nikki is AMAZING! So is Ms, Ashley and Ms. Brenda! Everyone is so nice and has so much experience! They do so many activities such as sensory activities (playing with jello), painting with hands and feet, looking at mirrors, reading books together, looking at lights and different shapes and lines, tummy time, etc! My little one is only three months old and he's already done all of these activities! And at three months he's already flipping! Not sure if all these activities triggered his early milestone or if it's because he's a pandemic baby and they're built different but he's flipping everywhere from left to right at three months and is already trying to crawl! Highly recommend this place. All staff wear masks and they sanitize the whole area everyday and wash blankets weekly. Of course swaddling is not allowed due to SID and also it goes against their licensing but my baby went from 10-30 min naps to 1 hour naps and got on a schedule which made my life a lot easier!

It's a safe, positive and caring environment. If you are considering a daycare/preschool, you will be well served at GTLC. Our 2 yo son was at Aunties Playhouse for 10 weeks while we were waiting for a spot at a program…read morethat some family friends go to. Our son's time at Auntie's was terrific! It was his first time at daycare and the teachers were so compassionate and caring about helping him (and us!) get past the first few drop offs. By morning 4-5 he stopped crying at drop off and he would just shout "bye!" as we were still hugging him and then run off to play or join morning story time. Probably the most profound thing for us is that before he started at Auntie's our son had a diagnosed speach delay and was only using maybe 3 words regularly despite 4-5 visits with a Speach Therapist. Within a week of starting at Aunties Playhouse we already heard 5+ new words, and by three weeks he probably had 20-25+ words. We really were astounded. As first-time parents this was such a relief! I could see how the teachers greeting the kids on arrival and encouraging the kids to greet each other and participate in reading circles and singing activities truly made a huge difference for our son's development. One night at bedtime our son started spontaneously singing "Twinkle twinkle little star"...we never sang him that and it was the most words he ever said in a row until that point. We nearly fell over out of surprise/joy. A couple of other things I really valued: + being new to daycare, we just loved getting the photo updates during the day. As working parents, it was just great to see him happily playing, painting, snacking etc. + So convenient that Auntie's Playhouse supplies lunch! Simplified our life + our son was noticeably more open to eating "table foods" at home because he was trying lots of different foods at Aunties + Aunties has an organized walkie-talkie system so they can call in another teacher when the classroom gets to a certain number or if a kid needs a cool-down walk etc. I found this really professional and the result is that it's not a big deal to drop off earlier than your usual time occasionally if you have an important meeting or whatever + Open until 6! We usually picked up by 5:20 or so but a few times when things came up at the end of our workdays it was so great that it wasn't an emergency to get there at our typical time Our family had a great experience at Auntie's Playhouse, and would definitely recommend it!

We feel great with our decision to choose Auntie's Playhouse in Normandy Park and the great care that they give to our son. Leaving your child in someone else's care is nerve racking but seeing his face light up in the mornings when we drop him off and his smiles when we pick him, we can feel good about his care. As an infant, he spends much of his time with "Aunty" Adela and she is so good with him! The facility is always clean and appears very well run. I really appreciated the professionalism with which they run the daycare, great security procedures, great hygiene procedures and the building looks very well taken care of. We are all very happy with our choice and feel confident leaving our son in Auntie's care!
