We did have to adjust to the one clerk who pointed, when we told him which food items from the case we wanted. Then we had to scroll, a lot, before we found the item on the menu. Very disappointing experience at The Hive in Monsey. I found Shabbos lamps clearly marked at…read more$24.70, but when I got to the register, they rang up at $39.99. I immediately pointed out the discrepancy, and the cashier called the manager. The manager went back to check the price and verified that I was correct-- the lamps were in fact marked $24.70. Yet, instead of honoring the displayed price, they refused and said it was a "mistake." To make matters worse, they told me I should come back tomorrow and argue it further, and maybe they would honor the $24.70 price then. I explained that I live half an hour away and work, and I simply don't have the time to make another trip to the store because of a pricing mistake that was theirs. I honestly cannot understand this level of customer service. If your store has an item clearly marked $24.70, a customer brings the discrepancy to your attention, and your manager personally verifies that the item is marked $24.70, why should the customer have to come back another day and fight for the price? It's not about the $15 difference. It's about how you treat your customers and taking responsibility for your own mistake. Instead of making things right, they essentially told me to waste more of my time coming back to argue about it. Very disappointing. I wont be coming back!

That's pretty accurate. The workers don't look happy, but they are busy. There's usually 2 cashiers up front. The younger lady that looks to be in her 30's will at least speak. The other cashier looks like a sweet old grandma, but is surprisingly rude. In my experience, she doesn't speak when I say hi, I'll ask for a bag and she'll place it on the belt instead of my outstretched hand, she doesn't say thank you. At first I thought maybe she's just tired and having a bad day. Nope. Been in the store several times since and noticed grandma picks and choose who she's going to bless with a little customer service! I've seen her smile and talk up some, while stone face ignoring others. Even if grandma is a little crotchety at times, I am glad to see she's still out here being active and working.

I hate food shopping. Now, my definition of food shopping is probably different from yours. Since I…read moreeat out most of my meals (thank you, Yelp), my grocery needs are fairly limited. Just the basics: milk, yogurt, honey, fruit and that's about it. Since the whole large chain supermarket thing annoys the crap out of me, I search for solutions. Convenience stores are fine but if you're looking for produce, they're not going to cut it. So those times when I need to stock up without really stocking up, I hit up Kilroy's. They are a small but well stocked mini supermarket that also sells booze. Their prices are.....Well, I don't really know because it's the only place I ever shop. I assume that they're higher than say, Shop Rite but I'm not sure and for me, convenience is number 1. Parking is easy and they are never, ever crowded. Worth mentioning is that if you're looking for a deli counter or elaborate prepared foods, look elsewhere; Maywood Market for example. If you need variety and like to pick and choose amongst multiple brands and sizes, again, not your best choice. But if you need to get the basics, they really can't be beat. My go to place because I really go to no place else.

I personally live fairly close to this store so I have had the pleasure of coming here countless times, which means that I have had many opportunities to try different meals. The first thing I will recommend is the Philly cheese steak. It has a beautiful melted cheese. And the steak so indescribably delicious once you try it yo will be hooked on Elmer's for ever. The pizza is most enjoyable with pepperoni but is good all around. The pepperoni is salty and has some spice but just the perfect amount. The dough is soft and relaxing while blending nicely with the melty droopy cheese. Overall I really like this "gas station" but its atmosphere takes off some points along with the setting.
