Since my original review and experience unfortunately things have changed and not for the better. Shrinkflation is definitely in effect. I ordered a margarita and asked for the cost of it with grand marnier, I was quoted one price then charged for double. My husband and I both ordered the happy hour wings and fries. We received 5 wings and collectively they could fit in the palm of our hand. The size of the wings were way smaller than what we previously experienced. In addition, I ordered the honey old bay wings and my husband ordered the honey jerk wings, when we received the bill there was an additional charge of $1 added for the jerk wings despite the up charge was not referenced on the menu. The server did remove the charge after we pointed the discrepancy out. Last, the gratuity was automatically added, for two people at the bar, doing a week day happy hour experience (Thursday 6pm), without any indication of mentioning this was an automatic charge!! We've eaten at Krab King several times, and there was never an automatic gratuity. Respectfully, tips are earned not guaranteed. While we enjoyed the restaurant when they first opened, clearly things have changed, staffing has changed, the ambiance and experience has changed, and not for the better. I finally went and grabbed food to-go. I got the Crab Cake Sandwich and fries. I chose the smaller crab cake and to my surprise it was a decent size with lump crab!! I got the original flavor, but there wasn't much flavor which was slightly disappointing.. Just crab meat and a bun, the sauce provided gave it the flavor. It also seemed a tad salty. My family got the seafood burger and they were disappointed as there was just 3 pieces of shrimp on top of a burger. I was thinking maybe shrimp inside the burger patty? But I'm no chef, so what do I know haha. They said they would not get the seafood burger again and I would not get the crab cake sandwich again.. Have been wanting to try this spot for a while. Only noticed it due to it being by the Giant grocery store I shop at occasionally. The inside is smaller than I anticipated, however the design is nice. The two staff members that were there were pleasant. Ordered the king rolls(only ok for the $20 price point), the colossal shrimp(good but could have used a hint of salt), and the french fries were decent. They served the king rolls and colossal shrimp with what seem to be a thai chili sauce that was pretty good. I was not blown away by any of the food to consider returning anytime soon, however they do have a happy hour Tues - Fri 4pm - 7pm that I may come back for at some point. read more

Saw this place on TikTok and was very excited. I didn't take the time to check the menu prior to coming. Me and my friend came around 7 and it wasn't busy. We waited 20 mins for our waitress to come and greet us. The menu was nice but the entree choices were very limited, there were some sandwich options but I was wanted a full meal. Me and my friend decided on choosing appetizers and sharing them. The king rolls were cool, and I wasn't a big fan of the quesadilla but the Mac and cheese was the star. I'd come back for this Mac. So, a few friends and I decided to visit this place because none of us had been. I was interested in the king rolls and wings. My friend wanted the fries and pasta. Of course we all had a little bit of everything so I have to say first, the truffle fries were delicious, they were cooked perfectly and tasted awesome. The king rolls were something I never knew I needed lol the wings were flavorful and cooked well. Not too hard and not too soft. The quesadilla was sooo freaking good, I can't wait to go back just from having that. I'm not big on pasta but I did try it and it was very tasty. My uncle was turning 75 years old and he only eats seafood. We decided to try King Krab in Upper Marlboro. We had a group of 16 people. The place can only accommodate one group at this size. It's not a big place but it's elegant and intimate. The service was great. We ordered all of our food at once and they got to it. Our food came out in a timely manner. We arrived at 4 pm and by 6 pm we were walking out the door. The blackened salmon, asparagus, and fried rice were a hit. Every guest said that their food was great. My uncle enjoyed his birthday. What an awesome new hidden gem we stumbled across in the strip mall off 301! We looooovveed the Krab King restaurant and that's saying a lot from me since my visit was just after happy hour ended and I HATE when I miss a good happy hour, LOL. This location is a cozy setting i think would be best accommodating for parties of four or fewer guests, since we were four adult women and 2 small children seated at their biggest tabletop and it was a pretty tight fit, buuuuut... we made it work. The restaurant was super clean inside and all of the staff were busily and pleasantly attending to customers when we arrived. I can't say enough how amazing Chardonnay & Edwin were to our party of 6. Those two were on the ball and gave us some of the best customer service I've experienced at a restaurant in a long while. They both took time to answer our many questions and made great recommendations for our individual preferences that were really well thought out and truthful. I appreciated that Chardonnay didn't just let my sister that enjoys sweeter drinks choose one that wasn't going to be as sweet as she probably would have liked and instead took special care to guide us all to choices we were blown away and delighted with. First, I don't eat cheesy dips too often because I stray away from dairy, but was craving spinach dip and their spinach dip with added crab and toasted ciabatta REALLY exceeded my expectations. I actually am kinda still thinking about it and will add that even without the crab, it would have been really good. Adding the lump crab put that dip over the top. I wish I'd gotten pictures of my nephews' kids' meals because the presentation of the wings and fries for kids was soooooo adorable with what appeared like mini grown-up style plates. I liked that these weren't plastic buckets and both my picky eater nephews devoured their food. In fact, the 7 year old said that "everything here is fire" and I wholeheartedly agreed. I had the 5oz crabcake sandwich on a brioche roll with French fries and Yelp Loveys.... There is something special to those French fries!!! They're these perfectly seasoned, maybe a little battered and just the right amount of crispy fries I could have eaten plates and plates and plates of. Chardonnay brought us ranch and hot sauces to dip the fries in and it was an inexplicable divine experience you'll just have to go and explore yourselves and report back about. Then there was the crab cake, I gotta tell you I was a little nervous about trying because of being offered in Old Bay, Jerk, or Lemon Pepper variations.... I thought to myself uuuuummmmm, who makes variety flavored crabcakes?? KRAB KING does!!! They do it well, too! I wasn't a fan of the lemon pepper crab cake and the jerk one wasn't bad, but also not my particular favorite, I think because I like a more traditional Maryland style crab cake. The old bay crab cake was PERFECTION for my taste and a nice amount of lump meat with minimal filler and no shells that made me wish I'd gotten the half pound size for $41 instead of the 5oz cake for $26, on the day I visited. Our entire party loved the old bay crab cake best and the front of house manager, Edwin was super attentive in listening to our feedback about all three while making his rounds to check on guests. We also tried the jerk shrimp and crab quesadillas that were suuuuppper delicious and I'm not typically a seafood quesadilla fan. These ones turned me into a believer! There were hot honey old bay wings we had to try and felt like we're really good but not necessary as old bay flavored as we anticipated and more like mumbo sauce flavored. We love mumbo sauce so we also loved the wings. They do taco Tuesdays and a crab and shrimp taco was featured that my sister loved. They also had fried shrimp tacos I know had to be goid because my other sister inhaled them at lightning speed. I'll close my food notes with a shout out to the kitchen and staff serving every single thing we tried piping hot and freshly made, something that has become a lost art. I LOVED knowing our meal was prepared hot and fresh by order and was perfectly content to wait the prep time for each dish that was well worth my wait. Even my bread was fresh and hot and worth the up charge for extra servings. While there isn't a dedicated cocktail list, they do have a full bar and Chardonnay is an excellent mixologist. She's beautiful, sweet, funny, and pours a gooood drink so you definitely won't want to miss her and Edwin for happy hour or even dinner when you're in the area. The music playlist was lively and at a good volume to keep the atmosphere feeling high energy but it was still low enough for us all to all hear each other across the table. Bring a date, bring your friends, BRING YOURSELF to the krab king restaurant while it's still technically in the soft opening phase. I'm a huge fan of the KK food truck so the fact that they now have a brick and mortar, Hooray! I no longer have to wait for a visit to my neighborhood. I love their fries, the salmon egg rolls and the fish sandwich. The wings are pretty good also. What I love about this restaurant is that everything is made to order so it's always hot and fresh! It might mean a slightly longer wait, but they text you when it's ready, so you can do nearby grocery shopping or sit at the bar. The staff is friendly and I appreciate small businesses. Our server/bartender, Chardonnay, was super sweet, helpful with the menu, and extremely attentive. The owner/chef brought us our entree, introduced himself and was super friendly and humble. Food - We ordered the following: - Jerk Krab and shrimp quesadillas - Colossal Shrimp - Krab Kake dinner (comes with asparagus and mac-n-cheese) My god! The food was DEEEEE-LISH! So, I have to say, the service was excellent as well as the drinks. Let's get into the food. We ordered seafood fried rice and crab cakes with Mac and cheese and asparagus. For the price paid, the shrimp fried rice was extremely underwhelming. Rice favored boxed Zaratains with frozen veggies mixed in, and freeze dried red and green peppers. Definitely did not scream freshly made.... The 4 shrimp were the focal point of the dish, they were excellent. The crab leg was cold. Texture was, it was steamed from frozen. I say it because there was one cluster. Price point today, $44. On to the crab cakes, they were small, sold for market price, but they were tasty. Came with a small side of Mac and cheese and 4 pieces of asparagus. Price point market place, today $48. With 2 drinks each the bill was $166. Ambiance was excellent, but low tables were towards the back and near the bathrooms. Scented candles were placed on the on the tables to hide the scent of sewage. Probably floor drains that need to have water poured down.... Definitely a turn off. Would I visit again, yes, happy hour/ taco Tuesday and take out. First time there. So, first let me say how amazing and spectacular the customer service was from everyone there--from the phones, to the bartenders, to the cashiers, the waiters, everyone! They definitely hired the perfect team of sweet and friendly people who love to serve and take pride in offering that service. It's rare to get service this good, I was definitely impressed. Top notch! However, the menu for the crab cakes is "market price", which is fine because you know you're going to pay a little more. But this was $62. A whole $62 and this included just a few, thin and over cooked asparagus, not like the jumbo asparagus previously used in the pictures. That's essentially two platters for one compared to most places. Two! Those are prime steakhouse prices without the portions. Given the price, I will say that the crab cakes were packed with superior quality lump meat, probably colossal Indonesian lump--the best of the best! You can only order this rare variety from a restaurant depot or online somewhere. It's beyond "jumbo lump" for those who are hip. So, you're really paying for that mid/post-pandemic prices, too. The flavors were great, but I tasted too much horseradish, which for the quality, isn't needed at all. I'm guessing someone figured it was a way for them to stand out. I would suggest serving optional cocktail sauce on the side and using another ingredient or spice instead. One crab cake comes with a shrimp stuffed at the top, not fully within. I wouldn't order that for an extra $5 fee, but just the plain old bay ones. The sides are pretty much set, can't change them. They only offer three, I believe. Not a big menu, but the pictures online do grab your attention to come in and try something. The mac and cheese was actually great. It tasted better than it looked, but I wish the portions for the sides were bigger for the price even though you're really paying for the crab. As you can see, they use those round, medium-sized tupperware containers, so I was disappointed in that. They could have used the black portioned variety if they want to keep the look upgraded from the traditional white styrofoam. They also don't take orders over the phone and the in-person wait for carrying was/is 30-35 min. That's not so bad when they're making your food fresh on the spot. Who wouldn't want to wait for fresh food over a quick spot that had it sitting around lol. So, maybe place your order and run an errand at Giant next door or something and come back lol. Today was my first time eating here and im mad i didnt know about it sooner! The food was sooo good! I went with a group of six and none other than us had any complaints and we all LOVED our food. The service was amazing, the staff made sure we had everything we needed at all times. I got the jerk crab cakes and they were SOOO GOOD (alittle spicy) so be cautious if you dont like spicy food. The crab cakes came with mac and cheese and asparagus which were also really good. We also had the king rolls, spinach dip, truffle fries, and crab toast as appetizers which were all also really good. I tried Krab King for the first time last weekend and was totally impressed. We were greeted by a courteous young man immediately who showed us to our table. After being seated, we were instantly tended to by our server, Brittany. She is also the bartender. She was professional, kind and knowledgeable of the menu.
