Update: 3/2/2024 Still have not received any support. I've even contacted Brandon from KPS after he requested me to reach out to him. He repeated the same fee of $170. Doesn't really make any sense. Why would you ask to contact you only to reject my cry for help?? I think they enjoy telling me I'm outside my service warranty and asking for $170. Just a guess........ These people are definitely in it for the money and nothing else. This company has the worst communication with customers. Their staff are continuously late to appointments made during the work week or suddenly cancel appointments. Our fire sprinkler covers have all dropped or fallen off as they were not initially installed correctly. Not even worth investing your money with this company with their lack of follow through. Our five year prison term is up with KPS! My husband called to cancel yesterday around 3pm and the person he spoke with told him that the person who cancels accounts was gone for the day. The KPS person told my husband spoke too said that my husband would be called today to cancel our account. Well no one called, so my husband called them back and was told that he needed to email KPS to cancel. This is the games they play to keep people from cancelling their shi**y alarm service. If you are purchasing a home, never ever EVER get KPS. If our email(since that's how they cancel accounts) is not replied to in a timely manner I will be calling the 1800 number and I am not as nice as my husband!!! I would not recommend this company. My doorbell camera has never worked. I have called numerous times they say they fixed it Works for about a month then the app says the camera is unreachable. They want to charge me $170 for a trip charge to try and fix again or get me to sign a contract for 2-5 years for 44-45/month In order to replace equipment. I am going to get another doorbell for the price of the trip charge. I am done and beyond frustrated at this horrible experience. I can't keep throwing good money away to such a bad product and company. RUN!!! Update: I removed the doorbell and replaced with a ring. The issue was that KPS installed the wrong transformer! Isn't that something and I have to pay a trip fee for you incompetence. You just lost a customer. I am replacing all KPS equipment and throwing in trash. read more

KPS is not a company to use. I am disappointed with the builder's choice. They have very poor customer service, someone named Kenia (if she even sharing name honestly) had very poor customer service answering calls and really poor coordination with the tech. Or was it even coordinated? We took time off from work multiple times to expect a basic function to be enabled, they cancelled the appt after making you wait for 4-5 hours. Brandon responded and echo same message as Kenia that the appt. needed to be rescheduled. 1st time they were here, spent 4 hours and nothing got done. Very incompetent resource and they are selling support services for SMART system??? Multiple attempts and as of now, I am still waiting for the service to show up. I am nervous about what the outcome would be even after they show up. Builders, please don't try to save cost and use bad company. read more

I originally gave KPS a very bad review, because I was very disappointed, in the way they were handling customer requests. However, Caesar has been the one person who has been extremely reliable, responsive, and knowledgeable. He shows up when he says he would, with no excuses and he does not give up until he fixes whatever issue there is. Unlike some other technicians I have dealt with at KPS. I would hate to do this to him but I highly recommend when you contact KPS to ask for Caesar so you can make sure whatever issue you're dealing with, will be handled in a timely and effective manner. The short version, I was quoted one price $25 in July, i called back in August and KPS could "not" access their Account system to start a payment plan and so they put me on an extension. They canceled my access at the end of September and told me I had to pay double to get access again. They did not honor the simple $25 plan for access to lights, thermostat, door via phone. After purchasing a new construction home in 2022 with KPS installing most of the security system, we noticed our door lock and camera started to act strange and not respond correctly. We had techs come out two separate times under warranty to fix the problems. Both times the techs came out and said that everything looks fine and working properly. After insisting both time that they replace the door lock, each tech recommended against doing that as its a lock of work and requires new keys. Our door lock is not acting up again and called for a tech to come out. Now that we are no longer under warranty they want to charge us to have a tech come out to service the place without even knowing the issue or saying they can fix. This is some low level customer service and a scheme to make customers pay more for their terrible service they already provide. We pay monthly for the service yet they cannot send someone out to provide help without paid first. Why wouldnt the tech fulfill my request during my warranty of switching out the door lock? Maybe its because they know its going to fail again outside of warranty and will be able to charge the customer more money for something they know isnt working. I would not recommend this company, they are great to customer within warranty but once you are past that they will not support you and charge you money to come look at the problem without any solutions. read more

Horrible Company! We purchased our new construction home from KB Homes in 2020 in Santa Paula, CA and had opted for KPS Alarm services. We had several issues with the doorbell camera not working as it is not suited for our 5G wifi no idea why they would install this outdated doorbell camera in a new 5G community. After several troubleshooting attempts by myself, and on the phone with support they finally sent out a tech to fix it. Within a month later the same exact issue occurred on and off. 2022 I insisted they send a tech and refused payment until this was fixed as the doorbell camera is the most important feature that we actually use. I was ghosted even after several follow up emails/calls. But they still send bills, unreal. With regards to the smart home installation process, Cesar was the best. He came a little before 11am and was out the door by 2pm. Having already set up many of the smart home features ourselves, he was thorough with confirming each app (ring, myQ, resideo, etc). I personally don't recommend this company. Their video doorbell button malfunctioned, activating our doorbell constantly to where I had to rip the wire off the doorbell inside the house because it was shorting out and thought it might start a fire. It was still under warranty, and because I physically removed their doorbell button from the wall outside to power it down, they voided my warranty and won't replace it. When we moved in, it took a month to get an appointment for them to activate the system. I'll replace it myself with something better for sure. Don't even want to give 1 star. read more

Upon purchasing a new home from Cresleigh Homes in Plumas Lake, CA., they suggested it KPS. After moving to home December 27th, the earliest for installation was for January 7th, 2021. After installation was completed and on that same day, the family room motion sensor stopped working and sensor had to be bypassed in able to arm system. After a call to customer service and opening a service ticket on their online portal, a technician was scheduled but not until two weeks after to get it resolved. Upon technician's visit on 1/25/2021, after resolving the sensor issue, I explained that the door camera was not sending video clips anymore since January 17th. He then noticed that the camera was recording at all times, though we could not see anything moving to trigger the recordings. We saw it flickering at night and starting to record on its own, and that is why my account maxed out the video clips uploads (KPS maximum is currently set at 400 clips uploads no matter if you delete them). We also noticed that this issue started right from the time I started the same day it was installed. He did not have an extra camera with him and after checking the settings in the online portal, he asked me to call Customer Service to report the camera issue. I called 800-457-7252 number and explained for the second time the problem. I was directed to call a field manager, "Cesar" at 909-780-3642 . I called and left a voice-message with my third time explanation at 1:45PM. Cesar then called me back within minutes and asked if I called since he had a missed my call. I then explained what was going on (fourth time). He then indicated that he was going to call me back after another call, however, I did not receive a call back at all and sent and email to customer service to; momohundro@kpspowerhome.com. Next day, 1/26/2021, late afternoon and no response, I then opened a request on their portal. On 1/27/2021, after not hearing from Cesar or Customer Service, I called back the 800 number in the afternoon and asked for a service call, (5th time explanation), the earliest availability was for 2/1/2021. I also asked if the technician could bring an extra camera in the event of replacement needed. On 2/1/2021 technician came and replaced the door camera right away and it was not recording extra clips anymore. Reason for this review is from what I experienced as a first time customer, there is a lack of careness since there was no follow up by KPS after multiple reports (the two tickets are still showing open in the portal). The limitations of 400 clips for defective equipment should be revised as soon as it is reported by customers to avoid not having any video files for law enforcement in the event needed. Last, there is a $2 charge for paper billing even after sending email that you setup your auto-payment through your bank, only way out is for them to have your banking or credit card information for their own billing. read more

I bought the cable prewire from KPS in our new construction. It's the biggest waste of $800 that doesn't fit Spectrum equipment. I was left with wires all over my closet with my modem and router on a shoe box. KPS offered to sell me a larger box for $1200. Also they tried to tell me Spectrum has smaller equipment. Not true. Spectrum no longer uses the smaller modem. I now have my router and modem in my living room. Great scam they have going on with KB Homes. Just buy a $400 wifi mesh system and don't deal with the over priced useless items. read more
