After a meal on Wickenden. We drove over to try this ice cream that was near by. I am rarely bowled over by Ice Cream these days. They for the most part seem very much the same. Yet Kow Kow us on another level. Both the freshest ice cream, fresh fruits, and all wrapped in freshly made waffles. These Waffles are offered in assorted selections and along the most amazing toppings. Do not bother with what you think is the best. Kow Kow is without a doubt my favorite new ice cream discovery to hit Providence. Let's start with what sets them apart from everyone else shall we? The CONE. Oh my goodness. Imagine a freshly made Belgian waffle but with the texture of bubble wrap. It is quite possibly the best remix on a cone that I've ever had. I went with the original waffle but they also have chocolate chip, matcha, and vegan/gluten free options available. The week I went, Kow Kow was serving up black sesame ice cream made by Big Feeling. I've always been obsessed with the rich toasted goodness that is black sesame and it's almost impossible to track the flavor down in New England. It was everything I imagined it would be and more--smooth, creamy, dreamy perfection. By far the most fun and delicious ice cream I've had the pleasure of eating. I must warn you, one of their ice cream cones is a MEAL, not a snack. I have on two occasions shared a cone with my husband and still felt full. The cone is more like a soft waffle not crispy as I would have expected. read more

Definitely a treat! Great location with easy street parking. Very sticky floor inside where you order, but there is a nice outdoor space to enjoy your ice cream. Ordering is easy. There were about 5-6 choices with a special. Many choices were offered vegan. All of the cones were $8.50 and worth it. The waffle was delicious and the single scoop was plenty! Usually when I order an ice cream cone I am a sticky mess. The waffle held the ice cream perfectly and absorbed any melted ice cream. I'll be back. read more

Crazy good! I got the oreo ice cream with waffle and it was great. The presentation was really fancy with Oreos around the scoop and oreo dust on top. There was a paper cone for the bottom of the waffle which did a good job in preventing a mess. The ice cream itself wasn't the best I ever had (NC State's Howling Cow has my heart), but the combo of ice cream and waffle rivals that of my favorite taiyaki place. Portion size was also generous, and I split it with my gf without feeling like I didn't have much. The line was long but after seeing someone else get their order, I understood why. read more

Wow! So glad I finally got to check this place out!! They had so many yummy options to choose from, but I decided to go with one of their "Specials" seeing as they come and go!! I chose their Crème Brûlée: Custardy Vanilla Ice Cream, Caramel Lace Cookie Crumble, by Whisk me Away (omg) topped with a Salted Caramel Drizzle!!! Wow was it ever sooo delicious!!! The ice cream was SO creamy and tasty and let's talk about those cookie crumbles. Wow! I could've just kept crunching away on them!! The waffle cone was so fresh, warm and fluffy! They're specials are great, offering interesting combinations of toppings and ice cream. However, their own ice cream is usually more on the bland side and the toppings can be miniscule (specials usually have their ice cream sourced from another scoop shop). This is made up by the large bubble waffle which is a nice combination with the ice cream. I do wish the bubble waffles offered a bit more flavor as well however. Price is $8.50 for one scoop of ice cream in the waffle. That's a bit high compared to other scoop shops. A takeaway is that Kowkow does sometimes run specials and even donates to various local organizations unlike other scoop shops. read more

The parking lot was super small but we got lucky with a spot. They have tables outside to sit at. Staff was very friendly and efficient. We mobbed them with four cars filled of people and they took care of us. We did not wait long and they were patient with us. I highly recommend if you like sweets but honestly it's big enough to share with two people. read more

Kow Kow is everything that has been missing in my sweets life! The location is perfect because you can find parking around the area & walk over. The shop itself is cute & the inside is very clean and smells heavenly. Due to Covid most of your waiting is outside. I ordered the birthday cake 1 scoop and my husband ordered Strawberry shortcake with 1 scoop. The birthday cake comes with a funfetti waffle that is amazing.. the waffles are served warm so when you mix them at with the cold ice cream the match is perfect!! Solid ice cream place! Had the single scoop oreo factory. Subbed out the chocolate drizzle for caramel. Was delicious and very filling just for one scoop. The ice cream was creamy and had plenty of oreo pieces within it. If you're an oreo lover, this will be perfect for you. On top has broken oreo pieces and oreo crumble. The cone was interesting to look at but just didn't have much flavor to it. Didn't taste bad, but just didn't taste like much. Service was quick and efficient. Would come here again. read more

Ok so my son tells me he has a new ice cream place at Brown. We go visit. The ice cream flavors are just average. Almost like Dryers ice cream. So I rate it a 3 on ice cream. Its not small batch hand crafted ice cream. BUT the presentation of the toppings or one of the specials on the menu is a 5! So I rated it a 4 overall! It worth going but dont expect unique ice cream flavors. But do expect unique presentations!! read more

Finally Providence has bubble waffles! Currently, Kow Kow is a food truck and pop up. I've been eating the bubble waffles since they opened last September. The bubble waffles are made to order. They have two waffle makers so there will be a wait. The creations are similar to desserts that use local Warwick Ice Cream and different toppings. They offer ice creams that Warwick Ice Cream doesn't sell in stores, such as Matcha, Black Raspberry, Graham Cracker Ice Cream and more. There are six standard creations, and occasionally a limited edition creation. A few times they collaborated with Smoke and Squeal to make a savory bubble waffle. Amazing! This is a great new addition to Ives Street. I love the concept and love that they have vegan options. Eating ice cream in their bubble cone almost tastes like eating ice cream and pancakes together. It is definitely good, but can make you thirsty after. My favorite is the Oreo factory. It always seems to be consistently yummy ! I got the s'mores once and was disappointed by the ice cream itself as it tasted as though it had freezer burn. Besides that and the often long wait times, this is a place I'd definitely recommend going for a tasty and unique treat ! read more

Kow Kow is one of my favorite places to go for a ice cream / egg waffle combo! It was really delicious on a hot summer day it just hit the spot! I can't wait to come back and try their different flavors/combinations. The Egg waffle was perfect, so fluffy hardly had a eggy taste. Went really well with a warm egg waffle and the cold ice cream! However be aware that there can be a very long line/wait. Due to COVID-19 they only allow roughly 5-6 people in the store at a time. When we went we had to wait in line for 15-20 minutes and some people did leave. There is a small seating area, a small parking lot, and there is street parking too. read more

Ahhh! I had my first bubble waffles in Northern California and fell in love. I never expected to find them in Rhode Island!! kow kow's bubble waffles are truly indulgent, with lots of ice cream, fresh fruit AND mochi pieces. My friends and I ordered ahead online and picked up our desserts during the summer, then walked to Brown's campus to enjoy them. Portions are very generous, so come with an appetite! The price is a bit spendy but it's definitely a nice treat to have every once and awhile. I can't wait to bring guests here when they visit from out of town! read more

This place is amazing! Choose the combo of ice cream- pick the egg bubble waffle- one scoop/ half and half scoop/ two scoops +$1 The service is somewhat quick. The making process takes time. They make the presentation really nicely! Ice cream not too creamy but good flavor! Don't like the black raspberry that has chocolate chips in it?! Flavor is good! Nutty berry with fresh blackberries Matcha green tea is good. Not too strong and creamy though. Little mochi ans condensed milk drizzle. Fresh strawberries are great! Hong Kong egg bubble waffles were warm. I think they are really filling. Not quite like the waffle in Hong Kong though coz the bubbles are small and cakey. WHY DIDNT I FIND OUT OF THIS PLACE SOONER?!? I would've been here every week!! CONS: I want to start with the cons because there is only 1 I can think of. They need to open more branches. PROS: Has a small parking lot, Clean public bathroom, Clean indoor and outdoor seating and Friendly and helpful employees. I havent even tasted the ice cream and they already won me over especially upon entering you can already taste the deliciousness of the fresh waffles being made. They only have 5 or 6 ice cream flavors but it is great ice cream quality. The topping are very generous and are matching to the ice cream. It is also amusing to see them make it, and they dont judge you if you ask extra. I love how spongy one side of the waffle is because it is warm and moist from the ice cream melting in it and one side of the bubble waffle is a little crunchy from it being freshly made. read more

Mmm. I had been dreaming about coming here for awhile after seeing people walk out with gorgeous bubble cones overflowing with ice cream and great toppings. My brother's visit provided the excuse I was looking for. We went after a day of kayaking on the Providence River and felt we deserved a treat. Boy, we got one. I had the Milk and Matcha -- mine was a matcha bubble cone (but you can choose your cone) with matcha ice cream, strawberries, mochi, and sweetened condensed milk drizzled on top. It looked like a beautiful flower and was so delish! The only problem was eating it before it melted and keeping the mochi from falling off. My brother's Graham Canyon looked good too and he gave it big thumbs up as he gobbled it up. A definite experience -- so fun, beautiful, and yummy! read more

My friend got a reward to visit Kow kow on their very first storefront soft opening day! We got a chance sample all the flavors and the bubble waffle. I was the lucky plus one. And I'm so happy because listen.... I basically love all of the flavors. I loved the decor. Very bright and warm. They had beautiful furniture. They have some boozy flavored ice cream and they were all so good. I have so many favorites but definitely loved the graham canyon, rhody, berry, cocoa, s'mores. Ughh.. the list can really go on. The bubble waffles were also really good. Definitely returning all summer. read more

Newly opened food truck residing on Waterman St in Providence (locations vary) Be sure to follow them on Instagram/Twitter to find out where they'll be! @kowkowfood They offer bubble waffle cones and ice cream with a variety of toppings. We got the Milk + Matcha which was a warm bubble waffle cone, with Matcha ice cream, topped with strawberries, mochi, and a condensed milk drizzle! Absolutely amazing! The bubble waffle had a warm crispiness to it and once you bite into it, there's a nice fluffiness to it as well. The ice cream was so good! It was just right in my opinion, not too sweet. You can also swap out certain toppings if you prefer or keep it the way its described. The bubble waffles are made to order, so be patient! It's worth it in the end! Please also remember that they are a new business so cut them some slack! The staff here are super nice and will answer any questions you may have about the menu. I've been to KowKow several times, both when they were still operating through food truck and at the brick and mortar. There are plenty of special options to choose from, where they can also accommodate dairy-free options and allergens. You definitely have to eat quickly or it'll get messy. I think it's pretty filling and shareable for the amount you receive. The shop itself is cute and aesthetic, and the staff is really friendly. Lastly, the egg waffle itself pairs well with the ice cream and other ingredients. Would like to try other flavors. read more

Truly an amazing and creative establishment. Not your typical ice cream parlor. Find them on social media for pictures, live updates, and more. For anyone with a sweet tooth, this place is a must. ATMOSPHERE: What started from a food truck to now a storefront even during a pandemic. Limited people inside, cleans outdoor tables often, and follows safety protocols. Outdoor tables are available but limited. FOOD: The variety that is available all looks amazing but I cannot venture away from my favorite milk & matcha. They allow you to customize as you please and reasonably priced. SERVICE: The staff and owner is super friendly which makes it even better. We had been wanting to try these for a couple of weeks, and I was happy to catch them during a food truck event near my house. The waffles are made to order, so there will be a few minute wait, but not long. The smell was divine while we were waiting! They had the perfect crispiness on the outside, and soft and delicious on the inside. I got the Milk and Matcha which was the perfect sweetness and didn't have an overpowering Matcha taste. I went back with friends for the opening of their brick-and-mortar establishment. WORTH IT. I had a Laotian New Year special with pandan ice cream made by the one-and-only Big Feeling, a lotus cookie, and condensed milk drizzle. It was just perfect. My previous feedback about the waffle is now retracted. The egginess had been downplayed tremendously and all one enjoyed was a waffle of rich but ethereal texture. The prices have not changed much and they're still reasonable for the quality and quantity. There is plenty of seating in the lower area of their store. The sausage was thick, juicy, a hint of spice, and great in flavor. The bacon was thick cut, savory, and crispy. I am glad I asked for truffle fries. They were crispy and hot. Our waiter was great throughout and the restaurant is clean and inviting. In the summer I do think they have tables outside. Parking can be tricky, especially on weekends but luckily there are many side streets.
