I would suggest you to reserve online before heading to the restaurant because it's a long wait. They say about 15 to 20 minutes away but we waited about 35 minutes. I got the avocado, pesto, bacon, and bagels, and it was amazing and very feeling. The inside of the restaurant is very cute and quirky with lots of southern farm style decor. These guys know what they are doing... which is evident by the big, hungry crowd they draw (even on weekdays). It seems like everybody comes here: locals, tourists, large groups and couples. Had some time to kill before our tour so we tried this place. Online waitlisting is the greatest. Arrived just in time. Hostess was pleasant and out waitress was the sweetest thing and very attentive. Our food was decent. I had the ube french toast. Full order three slices and half order two slices. Not very flavorful or moist. My friend had the loco Moco. He said it was good. I'm not a egg fan, so I didn't try it. The brown gravy was pretty tasty The dining area was decent in size and had the country vibe going on. They also offer outdoor seating for those who prefer the outdoor setting. Side note...I thought the ladies bathroom was pretty cool. There are a couple of parking stalls in front, but most customers are parked across the street in a empty lot. Carrie our server was fantastic. The food is also delicious. She knew everything in the menu and had great suggestions for specials as well. Very knowledgeable about things to do In the area. Really great personality with attentive service and a great sense of humor. They don't serve alcohol BUT she told me to run down the street to the ABC store and grab a bottle. ($10 corkage fee) she brought us a bucket of ice, all the juices etc. Overall just a great experience. We've been coming here for years on vacation- used to be a must do every time on Kauai. This time was not the normal standard we are used to. My go to is always the Portuguese Omelet with fried rice. The omelet was really good as I remember. The fried rice on the other hand was not. The meat in it was overcooked and dry. It just didn't taste great overall. This was disappointing. The toast was great like I remembered. My wife got a half order of banana Mac nut French toast. It was barely warm and not warm enough to melt the butter put in between two pieces. When the syrup is cold too it doesn't make for a great breakfast. The coffee was still really good- nice dark roast. Our server was friendly, but was so busy she barely had time to check on us and really didn't. (She was working very hard.) Not trying to be mean, just being honest. Hopefully this is a one off rough day as we javelin always come here and loved it. read more

I subbed fried rice which on the menu (and online) said $4 but when the check came, it was $5. When I asked the server, she only said, "yeah we changed it to $5." Very mixed and unfortunate review. For the first time since who knows when they made a legit medium rare steak for their version of the Loco moco. Me and my girlfriend went here for breakfast and waited not too long to be seated. Once it was our time to be seated a woman (later learned the owner) of the restaurant called my name from the door while we waited outside. Once we walked to the door she didn't greet us or even instruct us to follow her. Luckily we didn't have our heads where they shouldn't be and we noticed. Our server was great the food was meh. My favorite (and the only) breakfast place in Kapaa. It's pricey and worth it because the food is amazing. They also serve fresh fruit juice. I love how they remodeled the place; there's more seating towards the back and a waiting/sitting/cafe on the left side of the building. Restaurants servers are kind with a lot of patience. It does get busy at times, and I give them credit for still being nice! Food - I will forever be a pancake girl! They're massive so be prepared to share it with the group. The staff are amazing. Always receive an Aloha welcome. We feel like kimaina every time we come here. I always order the traditional Loco Moco with eggs scrambled well. Portions are huge and the leftovers are great for a midnight nosh. The fresh pog is wonderful. The atmosphere is happy and energetic. Not a place to read a book and wake up slowly. Lol. Fantastic place for breakfast. The vibe is kind of like a Hawaiian mini Cracker Barrel, with local kitsch scattered about. The menu is varied, with something for everyone. This used to be one of my favorite places to go when visiting the island, but I will not return after the last experience I had there last week. The hostess was rude, then the waitress was rude. Food was okay, but nothing to write home about. Fruit came with our meal and it was a small bowl of honeydew melon. Really? It's Kauai, you couldn't serve some nice local fruit like mango, papaya, or pineapple? The whole experience/meal was a disappointment! I will not be returning to Kountry Kitchen.
