Really enjoyed my time at Kost! This restaurant is located at the top of the Bisha hotel, with great views of the city and CN tower. Restaurant guests can walk out to the patio for pictures, but can't use the pool. The ambience is so bright and airy, with the patio doors open during the summer. It felt like I was in California at times. The staff was really friendly and courteous, with cute outfits and comfy shoes. Prices are reasonable for brunch. I ordered the chicken sandwich and fries. Came in for brunch with a friend on a rainy day and got seated at a corner table almost tucked away behind the bar when there were other empty tables. The server was very sweet but being tucked away I feel like we got waited on a little less. We got vanilla lattes and I got the Kōst omelette while my friend got the crab Benedict. FOOD | As with any restaurant in Toronto's financial district, you're paying a pretty steep price for food that is more or less subpar. We got drinks that have since been removed off the menu -- I guess they cycle the drink selections? For food, we got the tofu skewers ($27) and the ricotta agnolotti ($29). The tofu skewers weren't even on skewers? They were just pieces of tofu with the other ingredients surrounding it. That being said, the mushrooms and hazelnuts were good! The ricotta was also decent, and the pesto sauce was good. Neither dish blew me away, especially when considering the actual prices. AMBIANCE | Kost is obviously a very pretty restaurant, with nice views of the Toronto skyline and CN tower. On weekends, it's harder to get a decent spot with a view because there are so many people dining in. However, the aesthetics of the restaurant make it a good place to celebrate a special occasion. SERVICE | Service is nice, but very limited. We found it hard to get servers' attention a lot of the time, and they don't seem to be milling around much. Because they were also very busy, it made me feel a bit burdensome or bothersome whenever I needed their attention, which isn't a great feeling to feel when you're already paying such a steep price point. The downstairs host and my server made my experience horrible, but literally everyone else was amazing. The manager comped my meal to make up for how the server treated me (didn't even have to ask). So I heard about this place. Checked out the menus, and decided to stop in. I didn't see anything indicating that they close at 2:30 PM and don't reopen until 5. The host berated me about it, and said how it was listed everywhere and she didn't understand how I missed it - I literally only look it up on Yelp, looked at the hours (which clearly says 7AM - 10:30PM), and the menu. I never saw anything that said they close from 2:30-5 for food. I came a little after 2:30. She then said I could only order drinks. After I said I still wanted to be seated, she then said fries and oysters only are available at 3:30 (like why didn't you tell me that before, but okay...). Her attitude then shifted, and she became somewhat nice. I get upstairs, and the upstairs host is super sweet. When I get seated, the actual waiter was okay at first, then got pretty rude as time went on. At one point, while he was at my table talking to me as I was about to order a drink, he started asking the table next to me if they were okay, as if he wasn't still at my table serving / talking to me (I have never experience anything like that before and it was very rude). He also came over to my table with food in his mouth, talking with a full mouth of food. He came to update me about my drink, and after I kept seeing people get food, especially people who were seated after me, I tried to ask him about it to see if it's possible or if they were starting to take food orders now (to see if I can put my fries and oyster order in early - it was ~3:15 at that time). He walked away in the middle of me talking. It's possible he didn't hear but me he literally said your drink is on the way, then stormed off as I started talking. At one point, I get up to use the restroom. When I come back, my whole table was cleared and my unfinished drink was gone. I came back very confused, annoyed, and even more frustrated. I had to re-ask for everything I had (water, lemons, and the drink that I wasn't finished drinking). At this point, I was over it and told him I wanted to cancel the oysters and just wanted the check. He asked if I was sure, then came back to say he explained everything to the manager (guess he assumed I would ask for the manager), and said that my meal was comped. The way this waiter treated me was disgusting. The host was rude at first, but softened up after I guess she realized I wasn't leaving. Overall, I would probably never spend a dime here. I was ready to drop a good bit of money here. The manager made up for it by comping my meal, but I will never forget how horrible the waiter and downstairs host treated me. This place is rooftop dining in a chic modern hotel building. As you depart the elevator, the outside light is great. We were seated with a fantastic view of the lake and the CN Tower. We ordered guacomole with chips, tuna crudo with crispy plantains, and for our entrees we had short ribs with chili relleno and branzino with fresh salsa. It was beautifully presented and the flavors were amazing. Loved every beautiful bite. We also got one alcoholic drink and one non-alcoholic drink. Also delish. Finally the waiter asked if we were celebrating a special occaion and we were- our 10th anniversary. He surprised us with a beautiful dessert, gratis. I'm a little torn writing this review. This is supposed to have amazing views of the city by the pool. I came here with a friend for an early Sunday brunch. The pool was being cleaned during their prime brunch hours which was creating a lot of noise. We initially were seated outdoors but the staff was very accommodating and moved us inside on request. Surprising the place was not that busy. The menu itself does not have too many options. However it does have some solid brunch options. I got the rib hash and my friend got the coconut pancakes. You are on the 44th floor of a fancy hotel - prices follow that vibe. Coffee refills were prompt. The food was yummy. I only wish the rooftop was fully open. I recently returned to Toronto for a 1 week trip and I was looking to re-live what once were some of my favourite restaurants in the city. My experience at KOST was below expectations. On a positive note, we were able to score reservations on the morning of for a reservation at 10:30 AM-- this was huge, recognizing Toronto had only relaxed restrictions only a few weeks ago. The views and aesthetics never disappoint but the food was a miss for me. Covid Vaccination check: Yes Iced Americano - 2/5 -- This was too watered down Coconut pancakes - 2/5 -- This used to be plated much differently with a dollop of cream and fruit on each pancake. The stack now made it hard to distribute the single dollop provided. I also found this much heavier than in the past. Lobster benny - 3/5 -- The potatoes accommodating the benny were really well done. Well seasoned and crispy. The lobster was a bit dry so would've preferred if there was a bit more hollandaise to balance. Verdict: I wouldn't come back for brunch. I came here for brunch with family a few weeks ago and had a really nice time. THe views of Toronto are incredible and the service was great. We arrived early and were seated on the left of the entrance. It was quite noisy and we were cramped up against the bar, so we asked the server if we could move. She found us a really nice table on the right where we had a view of the CN Tower, and it was bright and not as noisy. The food was overpriced for what it was: $25 pancakes and eggs and toast, but you're paying for the view and the ambiance, so I'm not complaining. Their cocktails were amazing. I had initially looked at the lunch menu online, but only brunch was available on weekends - I wish I had known ahead of time, and their website didn't make that clear. Wow! What a great spot for breakfast! The view will take your breath away! It did take me a minute to find this restaurant, it's at the top of a hotel for those of you who haven't been there yet. The service was very pretty, well dressed, jewellery on point! The food really is the star of this show. I have not had better chicken and waffles anywhere else! This dish comes with a whole waffle that was cut into quarters for you, and a mix of breast and dark meat in generous portions, the waffle was separated from the chicken, and neither went soggy! The chicken was Krispy until the last bite. The coating of what ever they used was crunchy, and not overly coated. It was also topped with some sweet and spiced sauce. I asked for nothing on top of my food, and everything on the side, but they put it on my chicken, but to be honest it's not over taking the food like some sauces do, so it was terrible. But the entire dish was delicious. I ordered a coffee as well. And it's not something I'd order again from this restaurant, I didn't really like the coffee blend offered here, and went to get an another cup elsewhere after leaving. It was a beautiful patio. Between two people we shared: burrata, whole branzino, smoked short ribs and fries. Oh and a $65 pitcher of sangria. There was a minimum spend of $50 per person but it didn't feel like it was heavily enforced. Went out to Kost on a Saturday night after hearing some great reviews from friends, however our experience wasn't the same. We ordered the striploin steak and fries to share along with two glasses of red wine. Our food came out fairly quick but the food was not what we expected at all. The steak came with this very odd tasting and looking potato salad. We both took a bite and could barely swallow it as the texture and the taste was completely off. We were hoping the fries would save our meal but they were beyond over salty, making it almost difficult to eat. After having a couple of bites our waitress came and checked in on us and finally brought out our red wine. She asked us how the food was tasting and we told her the food wasn't very good, the potato salad was inedible and the fries were very salty. She responded with "really yea the potato salad is either a hit or a miss but at least you have fries" and dashed away. Me and my guest both looked at each other puzzled after this interaction with the waitress. We tried to finish what we could from the meal and quickly got the check so we could grab some tastier dinner elsewhere. My motto is you go to a restaurant for the food and you stay for the good service. However, neither was the case at Kost. The food is overpriced and unappetizing and the service is mediocre. I was visiting from Chicago and they accommodated us with a 5 party reservation that i called in the day before. The place was very pretty and had coat check, but there's no waiting area even though we showed up on time for our reservation we had to wait a bit, so kind of awkward where no where to sit or stand. It's very beautifully decorated but it was extremely hot in there (a Saturday brunch in March). The view are amazing but the sun is super bright, my blue eyes couldn't handle it so I had to switch seats with one of my brown eyed friends. There are no blinds so I would recommend sunglasses, even inside. It took a long time for us to even get water and for the waitress to take our order. Once we did order though, food and drinks came out quick and it was yummy! I wish it wasn't so unbearably hot in there, otherwise I would've soaked it all in and stayed longer, but we pretty much had to leave right away because it was too hot for my whole table (the bright sun and crowded space did not help). read more

I saw so many posts of Kost all over social media and wanted to try, but never got around to it until my friends took me there for my birthday. It's part of the hotel so we had to go in through the elevators. We were seated between the bar and the balcony area which was fine by me because I get cold easily. I really liked the ambiance, it's very "girls brunch/dinner". It's nice so I can see why all those iNfLuEnCeRs took so many photos outside. Again, we ordered a bunch of dishes to share between four people. It was enough for us to be really full, and everything was pretty good! At one point it was hard to keep everything on the small table so we were struggling to Tetris all the plates and eat everything so they could be cleared. The cake with a lit candle accompanied by a scoop of ice cream with "Happy Birthday" written on the plate was a really sweet way to end dinner. I enjoyed it and of course shared with with my friends. My friend and I visited yesterday for lunch, we got seated at 12:30. Service: 0/5 The service was painfully slow. There was ONE waiter and around 6 tables (including mine) on the side where I was sitting. I saw another waitress serving the opposite side of the restaurant. There were a bunch of food runners but they don't take orders (waitress/waiter had blue shirt on) and I could only see two people wearing blue shirt. The server was not attentive. His tone was condescending and acted as if we were causing an inconvenience by asking. I understand if the place is understaff but I wouldn't know if I didn't ask right? He also took a LONG time coming to our table to take our order because he spent alot of time talking to other tables and making small talks. May I suggest YOU MAKE SURE EVERY TABLE HAS BEEN SERVED FIRST BEFORE YOU START HAVING CHIT CHATS? The hostess who seated the tables lacked common sense. Why would you cramp 6 tables (4 tables had 4+ people each) onto one side. My back was inches away from other tables. The seating arrangement did not make sense because there were empty seats elsewhere in the restaurant. I am trying to catch up with my friend over lunch, not trying to catch COVID. Food: 2.5/5 The burger bun was just sad and deflated. The fried chicken was the only thing done right, crispy and juicy. I also enjoyed the honey mustard. The chicken wasn't over cooked. Oysters were tasteless. Tuna tartare had papaya in it and they were bitter. The tuna were very salty. My friend also ordered an avocado toast, the crust was so stiff, it was like biting into a rock. She ended cutting the crust and 1/3 of the sandwich was gone lol. Overall not impressed by the service or food especially given the price, I had higher expectation. The entire lunch came up to $140 ish. It's also inconvenient to go to the bathroom because you need to take a flight of stairs to the 43rd floor. The restaurant need better management. For one, there should be some flexibility in who can take orders when the restaurant is busy. We left the restaurant at 2:30, 80% of that time were spent waiting. This restaurant is a hard pass for me. PS - 44th floor view? Not worth it. You're better off going to Canoe for better quality food, service and view. read more

Beautiful place to be at any time of day. I say this because the decor's aesthetic was just my style along with an iconic view of the CN tower. My SO and I were going south on the DVP and spontaneously decided to go here for late lunch at 2:30pm. We called ahead to make a quick reso and the gentleman put us in no problem. It was my boyfriend's first time here so he was in awe when the elevator opened up to the 44th floor. I love taking him to new places so this one is added to his books. He really enjoyed his branzino & tuna tartar while I had the tofu skewers with brussel sprouts. The mushrooms in the tofu skewers were packed with strong flavours which was too much for my liking. The tofu was good and the brussel sprouts balanced it out after the impactful taste of the mushrooms. The hostess & server were polite and courteous. Our food arrived quickly and our glasses of water were continually filled up without asking for more. It was my first time having the all-day menu and there were a handful of vegan friendly options available. Just glad it wasn't a vegan burger and fries. Priceless view! Situated at the 44th floor at the bisha hotel. We went around 5pm so we can enjoy the patio by the pool before the sun goes down. Unfortunately it was rather windy but they offer towels and blankets which was awesome! They pull out heaters once the sun sets and it was absolutely lovely. Food: it's pretty decent for what they offer. Oysters were fresh and delicious. Cocktails were delicious I enjoyed the baja peach mule quite a bit. Service: unfortunately it was incredibly slow, it took well over 20mins for us to get our drinks and waiting for food to come took a long time as well. But it could be the particular server we had. We had a holiday dinner at Kost at the top of the swanky Bisha hotel. We had a reservation so there were no issues coming in, even when we had 2 of our original party drop out so we had to be seated at a smaller table. I think the vibe is pretty different day vs night. We weren't seated too close to the windows so we didn't get that view, but I think the poolside brunch is probably what this place is most known for. They describe their menu as being from Baja California and I saw that in a lot of the seafood offerings that they had. I actually ordered the grilled marinated ribeye which was to die for. It was extremely tender, no grisly parts, perfectly medium rare, and the marinade was very, very good. Just tons of umami flavour with it. It is also served with the creamiest jack cheese potato puree. There were some issues in the kitchen that day as we had to wait upwards of 30 minutes for our mains. They did acknowledge this and the manager came over to comps us for our desserts, which was really appreciated. read more

A scenic, vibey, and all-around airy space that makes you feel relaxed. We were lucky that the sun came out for the day, and the large 360 glass panes gave the space that much more of the Californian feel. Definitely go for the coconut pancakes - the portion is perfect for sharing. You can get it on your own too, but it may get a bit sweet towards the end! We also ordered the Halloumi bowl for sharing, and that was our healthier alternative to balance the pancakes. My personal opinion is that it was perhaps lacking just a bit of flavour, though that may be because it is being compared to the fluffy coconut pancakes. If I ever go back, would love to give the other savoury options a try. You also get a great view of the CN Tower that's just in front of you. Service was mediocre... honestly the server seemed like he was talking down ( attitude wise and the way he spoke )to us compare to another table beside us, which gave me an impression he thinks lowly of us. I recently returned to Kost to enjoy the wonderful patio weather, but be advised that the space on the patio is hard to secure! They have a great selection of summery cocktails, and quite an extensive list of Tequila and Mezcal, which I love! I had to try their version of a Paloma which wasn't as strong as I like mine, but pretty tasty! I've had the same menu choices before, but I was a bit surprised that they've changed them. The tuna tartare previously was more of a lighter dish with diced tuna, rather than this standard tartare, but the changeup was nice! It was complemented by crispy rice crackers, and an avocado purée which were great additions. It was a bit disappointed at the main, though, as I remember their octopus to be present whole rather than chopped up like this. It just makes it difficult to eat, and also difficult to differentiate. what was the octopus and what was the potato until you cut into it. It came with a really flavourful and spicy sauce, which I appreciate. My dining companion had the rigatoni as they were looking for a vegetarian option and it was a gorgeous looking dish and plentiful dish. We both enjoyed our desserts, not pictured here, but the tres leches cake with ice cream on top. It was great, because with the heat, the ice cream also absorbed into the milky and luscious cake, making it even more moist. I enjoyed my cheesecake with fresh cherry compote and whipped cream! It was such a great end to this alfresco meal! If you're looking to enjoy the patio season, this is a great place to visit! The views are hard to beat! read more

I was so thrown off guard when I first arrived to the restaurant. We first entered through some very fancy-looking hotel and took the elevators all the way up to the top floor. There, you'll find this very cute and aesthetically pleasing patio restaurant!! There is a pool (for hotel guests only), a great view of the CN tower, and lounge seating on the patio as well as tables on the inner portion of the restaurant. The food there was amazing but kinda pricey. I order the Kost classic burger. read more
