Went for Dinner: Despite reserving over a week in advance, we did not get a seat next to the windows which were unfortunate and a little disappointing. However, even from our booth in the dead center, there was still a nice view from where we were sitting. Food was alright, nothing that really stood out as particularly good or special. We ordered the calamari, a shrimp app, and The Selfie. The calamari was alright, a little salty and I've definitely had better from even AYCE places. The Selfie was probably the best out of all of our order. Overall, it was an underwhelming experience and Kost definitely seems overhyped. However, I will say that management and service were absolutely fantastic! They were all intent on making it a great experience, even going so far as to put our coats on for us. read more

Came here to celebrate my birthday with 4 of my friends on a Sunday for brunch. We didn't have a reservation and had drinks at the bar while waiting for an hour for a table. We got seated right in the corner with the best view of the CN tower! Service was great and we we're never forgotten. Had much selection on their menu, which my vegetarian friend was also grateful for. Everyone was satisfied with their meals and portion. One thing we didn't expect was for a mimosa to cost just as much as the food, both around $16. Overall, had 0 complaints, everything was amazing! The view was great, the food was great, service was great. What stood out to me was the service, when they had brought all my friends' meals out but mine took a while, our server offered to bring me one of their pressed juices on the house, which I really did appreciate. Also, this is the place I would bring tourists as it gives a great view of Toronto while getting a meal out of it, rather than needing to pay to go up the CN tower and missing out on the Toronto skyline without the CN tower. However, rooftop is closed on the winters which is understandable but disappointing. I have attempted to eat at Kost twice. I wouldn't give them any stars if i had the choice. The first time i had a reservation for my birthday brunch on a Sunday at 1pm for 14 people. My husband called at 830 am that day to cancel the reservation as the city of Toronto was experiencing an ice storm and was on an extreme storm watch and was told not to leave your house. The manager told us she was going to charge our credit card 25$ per person for cancelling less the 24 hours, even though mother nature was not on our side and it was not safe to be on the roads. While i understand the cancellation policy they should have been understanding of the unsafe weather conditions that were out of our hands. Today my family and I decided to make a last minute reservation and have lunch at Kost. We arrived and were seated. Two of us used the restroom and in the mean time we were told they wouldnt serve us until all guests were seated. Once we were all at the table a good 15 minutes passed without anybody greeting us at our table. We asked a waitress if we could get served and she rudely told us she was not serving our table. She came back 5 minutes reiterating that she was not our server but will do us a favour and punch in our food, but we didn't need any favours and decided to leave. As we were on our way out we spoke to the manager, who was chewing food with her mouth full as she tried to apologize for the lack of service. She also mentioned that she had just started...are you working or not? Behind her were at least 6 other servers also eating enjoying their meals while we were not. Does Kost or Bisha not provide breaks or areas to eat for their staff? Neither of these experiences would ever make me come back or recommend to a friend. we randomly decided to stop by Kost as we were visiting Toronto for the day. we walked in at about 345 and were told lunch service had just ended and their midday menu was available. we decided to stay and try out some drinks, fries and salad. the views are incredible and we sat outside and the weather was perfect. we did ask to be moved into a shadier spot and it was easily done. we decided on the fries and salad for the 3 of us and got some drinks too. one tumeric ginger juice drink and 2 mixed non alcoholic drinks. the drinks were subpar - was happier with the coke and water. the juice my brother really liked. before you go, just check their timings out but if you're good with snacks and drinks and possibly a peek at their dessert menu - you're good! bit pricer - but the salad and fries were really good. 4 stars because the midday options weren't many we'd usually "snack on" in between lunch and dinner. looking forward to going back for brunch and dinner views read more

The food and drink were really good and well-priced. For food, we tried the chorizo meatballs, the charred green beans and a short rib skewer. All the food was really good. I could have eaten the green beans all day, they were super addictive. The short rib skewer was super tender and the meat was delicious. We shared a pitcher of a tequila cocktail that was really tasty. The service was excellent. The view can't be beat...the 44th floor patio is gorgeous and cozy - I love that blankets are available to keep you warm, and there are heaters as well. The variety of seating on the patio is great - beds, chairs and loveseats. Get there just before sunset and you will have the most amazing views. Although I wanted to have brunch here, we were recommended by a local to check it out for a drink. We weren't disappointed. The rooftop restaurant and bar is located inside the Bisha hotel and has amazing views. This is probably my second favorite place for rooftop views after the Thompson rooftop. The wait for drinks on a weekend night was a little longer than expected but I can see why. There's an outdoor pool with a good amount of seating outdoor. Definitely worth checking out. read more

I actually never heard of Kost until my friend chose this place for my birthday dinner. It was a pretty good atmosphere and cute restaurant. It was too cold to sit on the patio but we were able to check it out and it was nice. Service was great and the food was very tasty. We ordered the burrata first which was pretty unique and delicious. We also ordered the striploin and salmon as our mains and then chocolate molten for dessert. Great spot. Beautiful view of the city. Stopped in for some apps and drinks before an event. The food was ok, nothing to write home about. The chips that came with the ceviche were hard and stale. The calamari I would recommend for sure. All of the plates and glassware is plastic. We were told this was because they have a pool but we were inside and nowhere near it. It just gave a very cheap feel to everything. The entire decor is a little too IKEA for me. The service was abysmal. Our server was one of those "what do you want? Yup... yup... yup..." as he's walking away while you're half way through your sentence. He had 3 tables but was nowhere to be found most of the time and whenever we did manage to grab him we were made to feel like we were bothering him. Kost's business model is clear: they are optimizing for "vibes", or ambience. This draws in a certain clientele - those for whom food quality is a secondary concern. With that in mind, do take the average Yelp review in context. While Yelp reviewers are a fairly heterogeneous group, the median reviewer would likely think of food quality as their primary concern. The food quality here is ok, and I was disappointed by the menu. I was under the impression that Kost's menu was Baja-influenced - of which I only saw sparse representation. If I were to judge every restaurant under the same context, Kost would likely be a 2-3 star restaurant. But more than anything, Kost provides a dining experience - not necessarily one that is constrained to the quality of its food. And for that, I give it 4 stars. read more

Decided to check out this rooftop brunch. I would recommend making a reso on opentable prior to coming to save you some time on waiting for a table. When we arrived we chekced into the front and the staff was nice and friendly. We were seated outside and it was super lit with the sun and very very hot. I would recommend bringing some sunglasses and sunscreen so you do not get burnt. Besides the sun beaming on you, the view is fantastic! You get to see the lakes and an awesome view of the CN tower! I ordered the fruit bowl and the Turkey sandwich, both items were delicious, the fruit was extremely ripe and very sweet tasting. The sandwich was filled with meat and lots of flavor. I do think the view outweighs the food but in terms of checking out an awesome rooftop, this would be the place to go for brunch and rooftop views. Would come back just for the view again. read more

So I said "excuse me? what do you mean?" and she said yes they didn't anticipate they'd be so busy on Mother's Day and that they need to take a break for food service until 5PM. I was embarrassed in front of my mom and rest of the family that I invited them out for Mother's Day and I was about to have them seated at a table but only to order a drink? Not to mention we saved our apetites all day and were quite hungry by this hour. The hostess then told me "oh we called people to let them know, but you booked your reservation after we already called people." ...OK so is that my fault or yours? You should go over your resrvations and do a 2nd round of phone calls for newer bookings if you are planning not to serve any food. Went through all that trouble, no sympathy from the hostess or care to offer a solution to fix the problem! This is now my 6 th time to Kost and I have never been here when they don't have some sort of mess up, complication, confusion or flat out "sorry what??" moment! Putting aside the 15-20% premium you pay for the views etc. Ok I can get over that but I do tend to like my $26.00 glass of house Chardonnay in a glass glass but because of the pool...plastic it is!!! That even includes the bar area inside. Today my $11.00 Heineken was promptly taken out of the bottle. I will give them credit tho. They are the good plastic glasses. We will see in 6 months if the fog from the dishwashers creep in. I overhear staff complaining about long hours, kitchen issues and it seems they have a big communication problems. They also have gaps in time that they transfer to mid day menu from lunch prep for dinner? I'm here with the place 75% full and that seems interesting. Patrons are a fickle bunch and when the "new place" lustre wears off I hope they can keep the crowd. If that's not enough to get turned off just prepare yourself for the endless display of pretension and parade of selfies as pretend Instagram models take pics with the city in the background. Chose this spot for my gf's birthday. I can say with confidence, it's the most mediocre service I've experienced at a restaurant/bar. I have been to many great and bad restaurants around Toronto and have never written a review. I had such a horrific experience here at Kost, I had to make an exception. As soon as we had arrived, we were seated at a table we did not like, keep in mind there are plenty of empty tables. We asked for a switch up and got denied, giving us a generic response, "those tables are for bigger groups", okay fine, understandable. 5 minutes later, a couple of 2 had walked in and were seated on the table that was suppose to be saved for bigger groups. We complained, and asked why we were denied and why another couple was not. So after much communication with the manager we were moved at a better table. As our apps arrived and we started eating, another couple came and sat next to our table. After this, the manager came over and told us to move tables due to covid. This is where I really got pissed off. Instead of asking us to move, who already started eating, why can't you tell the couple who just arrived to move. What kind of mediocre service is this. Again, he gave us a generic excuse. Okay we moved to another table. When our mains arrived and we started eating, again the manager came over and told us to MOVE AGAIN. This time they had asked us to physically move the table, so that we aren't so close to another table. All in all this was a horrible experience and terrible customer service. Went here on a Saturday around 1 for brunch. We were about 20 minutes early for our reso but they had no issues seating us when we walked in. Once seated our server, Michael, came over and introduced himself and brought us water. Next he came back and asked if we would like drinks, we asked for his recommendations and they were spot on. We had two cocktails off the menu and both were amazing (California calling and pomegranate punch) For brunch I had the panela bowl with a side of green chorizo. The bowl was absolutely delicious and the cheese was grilled (my favourite). The chorizo was two medium sized cutlets with a pico de Gallo on top, I highly recommend this (we ordered two because it was so good) For desert we shared the tres Leche cake, it was a bunch of flavours and textures that all came together really well. The views of Downtown Toronto are nice but only if you're lucky enough to get a good seat. Kost is definitely overrated when it comes to the food and the service. The server didn't communicate much and was also not very attentive... we placed our orders but they overcharged us when I took a look at the bill. So I brought this up to them and he told me that he charged me for everything I ordered. Restaurants should fully train ALL their staff on how to service their customers because I looked at other people and they seemed to be having a better dining experience with their waitresses. I had to keep asking for things, drinks, ketchup, utensils, etc. I had to wait forever to get my bill , only to find out it was incorrect and then ontop of that I had to wait longer for them to sort it out and issue a refund for me. The fries are over seasoned and really salty , we didn't end up finishing our meals. There are nicer restaurants out there, just keep looking!!! read more

I made a reservation for 2 for 9pm, I mentioned it was an anniversary and I preferred the patio in the reservation notes. I showed up the day of and I was told there was a waiting list for the patio. Me and my boyfriend are very patient but I don't understand why the hosts can't give priority to reserved guests, especially when I requested the patio in the notes. I waited 30 minutes for a table and then sat at the table for 20 minutes with no water, no drink menu, and no lamp. I had to ask a random staff member for water. My server, I believe who was named Foster, acknowledged that we were waiting a long time but didn't apologize or give a reason as to why it happened. Overall, most staff members were kind but the restaurant seemed unorganized and unable to deal with the volume of guests. The food was decent but overpriced which is expected. The drinks were mediocre. We got 2 drinks and a dessert comped on our bill which was a nice gesture. My boyfriend and I have been here multiple times before, I don't think I would return again. The steak I ordered was tiny, definitely not worth 30 something dollars. No sides to come with it. I will say that it was cooked and seasoned well, but I was hungry enough that I started eating the grilled lemon. The roasted potatoes were expensive and lacked salt. My best friends really wanted to visit Köst as they've seen it everywhere on the Toronto blogs and Instagram, after visiting I would say our expectations were met, but not exceeded! The restaurant itself was hard to find, it's on one of the top floors of a hotel so you have to go in and take the elevator up. Maybe that's a given but we still struggled. When we got there, they gave us an amazing table that overlooked the Toronto skyline and the outdoor patio with the pool. I ordered a salad with seared ahi tuna, I've definitely had better ahi tuna but the ambience and overall atmosphere made up for it. The service was pretty normal; they didn't really engage in conversation with us or talk to us but that also varies per restaurant, not sure if Köst's servers usually do.
