While I stay in the city, i found myself out by Berkeley with time to kill and a belly rumblin (key plot point), my day had been great and I was not trying to end it with a mediocre meal, so as I walked up, that stomach feeling got a little worse However upon entering and passing by the little corridor to the back, all my worries dissipated. The interior is calm with great use of wood colours, the outdoor patio is brilliantly shaded by trees, providing a little secret treehouse vibe like in Pokemon ruby. Outside was pretty popping though so I sat inside and ordered the bulgogi comfort stew. This thing was stuffed to the brim. From the description it's easy to feel like it's going to be a pretty boring dish, but it was far from. The broth was definitely comforting, I didn't care about anything after the first taste. There were different varieties of mushrooms inside providing adequate texture variation and the beef portion was generous! Usually I find myself hoarding meat in these stews to make sure I get good bites but the dish deceptively had a great amount such that I could eat a solo meat bite and still have enough! The banchan was also very flavourful. I ended up stuffed in this little hideaway, surrounded by the supermarket portion of this establishment and the calming hiphop lofi, if I was heading straight back home I would have grabbed a few things. It was hard to fault this place. Throw back to my stomach rumbling, before I left I used the restroom in the front and unfortunately the cosy hideaway, clean aesthetic seems to end at the little corridor. The bathroom was not dirty but it was not as clean as expected. Service was great and the food tasted amazing, I'd definitely come back to try other dishes
Super cute and cozy Korean spot. The food was delicious, my veggie gyoza tray was great. I only wish they had way more vegetarian options. It literally feels like a Korean supermarket, you can buy ice cream, kimchi, literally anything Korean food or snack- they probably have it here. Next time, I'm going to try the silken tofu stew.
Adorable Korean restaurant in Berkeley's Northside! Korean Suprette is a restaurant that also serves as a mini supermarket - selling Asian snacks. It's on Solano Avenue so it's in an area with a lot of other food spots. They have great friendly service that made us feel welcomed when we entered the store. We got their Spicy Pork Belly Rice Bowl, Beef Tofu Soup, Rose Tteokbokki, and Spicy Cold Noodles. I personally liked the rice bowl and the tofu soup the best! They both had a nice comforting vibe to each dish that I really liked. Their cold noodles and rose tteokbokki were not bad either, but I personally didn't find them to be too memorable. They have a cute patio in the back that we didn't get to sit at, but I heard is very cute. I'd love to come back to try their lunch sets as well! Overall, solid Korean restaurant - definitely worth checking out if you're looking for a Korean spot in Berkeley!
I recently stopped by Korean Superette and really enjoyed my meal. I ordered the Yangnyeom Chicken Plate, and it was excellent--crispy chicken coated in a savory, flavorful sauce with just the right amount of heat. Not overly spicy, just well-balanced and delicious. The plate came with rice, broccoli, and a selection of traditional banchan, which rounded out the meal nicely. I also ordered a glass of Chardonnay and was pleasantly surprised by the generous pour. Bonus points for that! I chose to sit on the back patio, which is absolutely delightful and made for a relaxed, enjoyable dining experience. Between the tasty food, pleasant atmosphere, and friendly service, this is definitely a place I'll be returning to. Highly recommended.
Food is amazing! Absolutely delicious, full of flavor, and the bonchon is the perfect pairing! The yuzu tea was super refreshing. Service was slow, but we didn't mind waiting. The care they put into the food was apparent and greatly appreciated! The dining areas (inside and outside) are both cute. Patio is well maintained with lots of greenery. Inside also doubles as a small market with Korean snacks, packaged noodles, kimchi and other refrigerated foods, and some homewares.
Pretty decent korean food! We ate at their outdoor patio area. Food was good and the outdoor seating are was very cute. Their menu isn't very extensive since they're a market too, but their bossam was very good and they have solid classics. Very good lunch spot!
Interesting experience.. this place doubles up as a restaurant and mini market. It was kinda weird dining in the center of the room where you're surrounded by fridges, snacks, etc. Feels too awkward to really walk around and browse because you'd be in somebody's personal space while they eat. Definitely too awkward to take pics of the snacks too. Outside of that.. the food here was really good. I ordered their bulgogi comfort stew and it got me sweating. The presentation was good and it was spicier than expected. The constant steam from the bowl made my eyes water all night. So yeah.. I suffered through it but still enjoyed the food. Overall I'd say this place is pretty worth it.
I've been wanting to check out this place for a bit. Was a bit confused walking in but their dining area was on the inside down the hall and then there's also a cute outside area, but the weather was too cold for me to sit outside. We ordered the Rose Rice Cakes and the Bossam. Rose Rice Cakes (7/10): the rice cakes weren't as soft as I'd like and were a bit stiff, the sauce was great through and they were very generous with the amount of rice cakes and fish cakes. Bossam (8/10): Super soft and tender pork sliced with very good flavor. They gave us refills of lettuce, samjang, and kimchi too when we ran out. One thing that stood out was how delicious their side dishes were. I would be willing to buy their side dishes alone, especially the mushroom and cucumber ones. Overall, food was good and service was very attentive, would recommend!
estaurant and Korean mini-mart that has a wide variety of Korean fusion foods. Recommend their Jang Pasta, but they also have an amazing lunch special. Portions are rather large, so one dish could possibly be good for two people. They have both an outdoor and indoor space and the restaurant gets quite crowded around 6 PM, so watch out for that! Service is fast and they do a good job refilling the banchan!
Cute place with dining tables surrounded by Korean market items and cozy outdoor patio. Nice spice for most dishes. The rose tteokbokki and bulgogi comfort bowl were standouts.
Honestly this place took me by surprise! Upon first entering, it was an interesting concept where there were shelves stocked up with a bunch of korean snacks & banchan available for sale. Additionally, there were tables indoor and outdoor. It was very casual & honestly, didn't seem like there were many asian patrons, so I was a bit skeptical on how good the food could be. Between a party of 3, we shared the bossam, rose tteokbokki, and mul naengmyun, which was actually the perfect amount of food. All three dishes were absolutely delicious and exceeded expectations! Even all of the banchan dishes tasted like a lot of love and care was put into them. I liked that the garlic that came with the bossam was pickled and not raw... and the fact that the bossam came soaked in pork broth/juice, because that helped the meat stay warm and juicy throughout the meal. Overall, this was a great spot and I will DEFINITELY be coming back!
Found this place by driving by looking for a place to eat and I'm glad I did. It's a restaurant and market cute little place has outdoor seating and indoor seating a small market inside the indoor seating restaurant... I was greeted when I walked in. The outdoor seating was full so I sat indoor which was fine. Since it was my first time I had to try a few things out the menu the food was good and The service was great. The place was clean. I will definitely be back to try more things on the menu.
Ordered a variety of dishes from Korean Superette to try, and unfortunately none of them impressed us. We ordered the bossam, black bean stew, shrimp pasta, cold noodles, and bulgogi mixed rice--none of the dishes stood out, and the ingredients felt more fusion-inspired than Korean comfort food, especially considering the higher price point. We also tried a few premade dishes from the market side, including the eggplant side dish and japchae, and both were poorly seasoned. I'd also skip the iced matcha latte, it was overly sweet, artificial matcha flavored (not real tea), and the staff told us it was not ceremonial-grade matcha. Service was disappointing as well. Our large table was charged a mandatory 20% gratuity, which would have been easier to accept if the service matched it. While one server was kind and attentive, the apparent lead staff member was impatient and gave noticeable attitude. Overall: fast-casual Korean food at premium prices, with underwhelming food quality and mediocre service.

I've had this place bookmarked for a really long time and even forgot about it. Just happened to be in the East Bay and my folks suggested grabbing lunch on Solano Ave. I looked at my bookmarks and was reminded of this place. We planned to go there for lunch. Table for 4. We sat inside the suprette. Such a casual and chill ambiance. The outdoor patio was full but we got one of the last indoor tables. It was busy for Sunday lunch service but not so busy that we needed to wait for a table. The server was kind and checked on us periodically. The lady who seemed to be the owner served and helped out too. The food was portioned well. Very good value for Korean food. The style of cooking was more like homestyle Korean, which we loved. Very flavorful, but felt light and healthy. We ordered a bento box with bulgolgi. The bulgolgi was nice and tender. There was a generous side of broccoli along with rice and seaweed soup. We also got a rice bowl with miso chicken. Lots of chicken. Very tasty and loaded with veggies. The tofu soup was a large portion which we all shared. My son ordered the children's udon soup which he thoroughly enjoyed. He also liked bulgolgi a lot. Banchan dishes were very tasty and my mom even asked for seconds of the chili seaweed. We had a lot of food left over. For 3 adults and a child, the tab was $75 pretax. Definitely worth it. Free parking is available on Solano Ave. or on the neighborhood side streets. Highly recommend. Food was tasty. Rice cakes were a bit under cooked and dry but bulgogi was flavorful. Ambiance was cute but I immediately smelled the fabuloso cleaner which I can't stand. The restaurant has a combo grocery shop and freezer hence the Superette. I think the prices are ok for the location but you can def buy the ingredients from them and make many of the dishes at home for less or at least bigger servings for the same price. Overall a nice place for a date, family outing or even to dine alone! Service was the issue. My daughters meal came out like 10 minutes after my stew and she ended up eating all the banchan. Also banchan portions were served in small soy sauce type tiny dishes instead of the bigger circle plates you normally would get. Banchan was delicious and they did bring us a second round of banchan! read more

One of our go to spots when we want to eat dinner out. The ambiance is super cozy and the food is great every time. Definitely more of a casual vibe. Everyone is very polite and the service is pretty fast :) It's also fun to look around at all the snacks afterwards. read more
How have I not reviewed this place yet?! I've been here several times now, twice in one week once because that's how good it is. The cold nangmyeon is yummy, but cold means cold people so keep that in mind. I've also had the pork belly bowl, jjajang noodles (black noodles), rose rice cakes, mackerel, and doejang jigae. All very yummy and I love how there is the option to request many of these (not the pork, obviously) things vegetarian for those with dietary restrictions. I'm not a vegetarian but was sharing some of my meals with someone who is, and the vegetarian dishes were just as good. The one tiny little minus is I find the banchan they serve with the food kind of mid, but my mom's Korean so maybe I'm just used to what she puts out at the table. Regardless, because it's also a store there are items to buy, including banchan, and prepared items like kimbap. I plan to keep coming back, my kids enjoy it too, especially the cold nangmyeon on a warm day! read more
Oh em gee. What a delightful experience. We ordered the October Special, Gochujang-Braised Baby Pork Ribs, and Bossam. Both were out of this world. Lowkey, the Bossam was more enjoyable to eat solely due to the weather. I was sweating in 90 degree weather eating the hot pork ribs. Now, don't get me wrong, I loved the pork ribs. They were so tender and flavorful. And don't get me started on the soup. I need to learn how to make that soup base. Overall, great portions of veggies, meat, udon, and soup. The Bossam was also amazing. Really large portion of meat and veggie with amazing flavor and tenderness. Loved the large portions for fair pricing. The Gochujang Braised Baby Pork Ribs lasted me three additional meals. And it's just such a cute restaurant. There's a little mini Korean super market inside and an aesthetic, decorated outdoor seating area. I know for a fact that I will be back. There are so many other dishes on the menu that I want to try. I can't wait for my next meal! read more
I have been here a few times before and today I came in for lunch on a Monday. I sat in the back patio since I brought my dog with me. The patio has a nice and quiet ambiance. I tried their spicy rice cakes - flavor is good, not too sweet like some other places make it. Good amount of fish cakes inside. Only thing I wish is if it had some other veggies such as carrots or cabbage (carrots add sweetness and cabbage soaks up all the sauce). Other than that pretty solid dukbukki. I also tried the crispy spicy tofu for the first time. The texture of the fried tofu is a very satisfying texture.. not sure how to describe but soft inside and fried crispy exterior.. the sauce is delicious too! It would be good with rice. The included ban chan tasted delicious and fresh as well. I've had their soft tofu stew in the past as well, and I feel like their food tastes more 'clean' and healthy in a good way. This place was so cozy and amazing! Coming from K-Town LA, I wasn't sure if the bay would have Korean food that could compare, but this place was pretty good! The concept of the restaurant/store is very unique, and I found the walls with refrigerated banchans and ramen packets to be pretty quaint decor. However, I would recommend sitting outside on the back patio if possible, the lighting and atmosphere is amazing! The service was quick, they often came around to check on our dishes + refill our waters. As for the dishes that were ordered, the cold noodles were refreshing. I wished that it came with some sort of protein or more egg though. I really enjoyed the tea offerings as well, it was my first time trying Korean multi-grain tea and it had a super unique and nutty taste. Will be coming back once I move to the bay in the fall! read more

A mini store and a restaurant combined into one amazing place? Don't mind if I do! There aren't a lot of places in the bay that have vegetarian black bean sauce so I was excited to try. They even give you an extra bowl of sauce which I was surprised about. It was definitely on the saltier side but the portion was huge?! I have a huge appetite and I couldn't even finish it. With the extra sauce that you can take home, I got another meal out of it. I loved their homemade side dishes. Especially the bok choy! The meat dish was a special that my friends got and added a special crispy rice roll thing? Wouldn't recommend getting that but they enjoyed the dish overall. I LOVE browsing in supermarkets so I really liked being able to walk around the little mini mart section after eating and being stuffed. Also, their patio is SUPER CUTE. So if you want a cute little dinner date, definitely recommend being seated outside. read more

I have seen many reviews on this place and they got my curiosity. Today attending an event nearby presented an opportunity. Forgoing lunch, this cafe mini mart offered a sit down dining experience. Reviewing their diverse menu, the last dish listed caught my eye just before placing my order. Originally, I was going with either a bento box or chicken cutlet with curry sauce on the side. The wild card that caught my eye was the chicken plate. Lately, I have been craving Korean fried chicken so with that in mind I was hopeful this dish would satisfy my craving. The meal came with seaweed tofu soup, an assortment of banchan and the chicken plate with steam rice and broccoli. It was presented very nicely. The soup was a nice start and I didn't want to fill up before the main attraction. My first bite of chicken was expected, a bit sweet and slightly spicy. I wish the flavoring had more staying power as with each bite, the chicken wasn't more sweet or spicy, despite grabbing a chopstick full of kimchee or spicy bean sprout didn't increase flavor intensity to my disappointment. The meal portion is quite generous. Service was friendly and attentive. Indoor dining surrounded by mini mart of ramen, snack and other Korean items. Took a minute to get seated but once we got a table at Korean Superette the experience was cool. The food was amazing -- a tower of vegetable tempura to share, tiny plates of kimchi/cucumber/radish, and spicy pork rice bowl. Seating is pretty tight -- expect the table next to you to ear hussle on your convo -- but for good reason bc the inside is filled with Korean market products. Each wall has products full of snacks, goodies, and refreshments. There's outdoor seating as well with nice lush greenery and outdoor heaters. Our check wasn't too bad either! Ordered to my office via doordash. It was only warm when I got it, but not restaurant fault. Food was outstanding, price was not bad for the portion and Korean to boot. The beef stew was my favorite though. Definitely would order this again. Needless to say I was stuffed afterwards. If your not a big eater, maybe could split this with someone. read more
Cute, cozy spot with warm and homey Korean dishes. I have been to the Korean Superette twice now and I absolutely adore it. Parking around in the area is a bit tough, however I've been pretty lucky to not have spent 10 minutes looking. The Korean Superette is a very very small grocery store with a restaurant in the back with a nice little patio outside. Even though small, there are a lot of tables. When I went there the last time was a table of at least 10 sitting outside, so if you're trying to go as a group, it's doable. If you sit inside, you're surrounded by Korean Ramyun packages on the wall and near the refrigerators for grab and go banchan for sale. Something about the vibe of it is very unique! Last visit I got the soondubu jigae, and honestly I didn't know what to expect. I was used to it coming out in an earthenware pot in restaurants (I know it doesn't need to be serve this way), but to my delight, this might be the best tofu soup I had around this area before. The broth was light, umami, and overall delicious. Check this spot out when you're around the area! read more

Korean Superette is my new favorite Korean restaurant in this area! The food tastes homemade and it is delicious! Parking can be tricky but try to find parking in the nearby streets. The staff is very friendly. The ambience is lovely with an outdoor patio. It is a very nice place for a good lunch. There is a little store in the front with some unique homemade dishes and some good snacks! It is always fun to take things to go. If you like tea, take a jar of Citron Tea!! You won't be disappointed. Now for the food, my favorite is the Spicy Silken Tofu Soup with Beef 5/5. It is delicious!!! Very flavorful. I've also had the Bulgogi Kimbap 5/5 which is good! I didn't see it on the menu but they have a few different kinds; just ask the waiter. My daughter had the Rose Rice Cake 5/5! We loved this dish. The creamy tteokbokki with fish cakes was delicious! It is spicy and creamy. It is a bit dense though. I suggest sharing it with someone. If you are in the area give this place a try. The food is delicious! read more

My pregnant friend and I were looking for food that could suit both of us (her with cooked and pasteurized foods and outdoor seating for health safety, me with spicy) and we landed on Korean Superette! We both really enjoyed with we ordered. I got the rose rice cakes with fish cake and yummmm. The creaminess and spiciness were perfect. Only thing is this is a heavier dish, so I will probably share it with someone next time. The inverted inari was a good way for me to break up what I was eating as all 3 had different flavor profiles. I personally love the mouth feel of inari so I would recommend! Her bento was perfectly cooked and yummy. I liked the banchan a lot! My complaint is I wish they gave us more/I wish refills were faster, but they had a full house and just one person when I was there! The outdoor area is really beautiful and the indoor supermarket has great snacks, noodles and banchan. The pricing is a little higher than alternatives in the area, but I think it's worth it for the quality of food. read more

A hidden gem of a korean spot! They give you soo much food. The soup was good, but different from the style I usually like more. The banchan was also delicious with a good variety. They have seating inside and outside with really cute lights and window seating. They also sell lots of korean food and instant food inside! Service is very attentive and speedy. read more

Loved this place. Korean Superette has such a cute outdoor patio. My husband and I called ahead of time to make sure that they allow dogs which they do! It was a little weird, because we had to walk through the whole place with our puppy to get to the outdoor area. It was such a great surprise to see how cute the outdoor patio was. You can tell they make sure to take care of the area, so it is clean to eat and it is also not just an afterthought. While the Korean Superette is small, the place was packed inside and out. We were lucky and got the last available table when we arrived. The menu isn't huge which can be a good thing. I ended up with the salt and pepper pork belly rice box. My husband got the soybean stew. Both were delicious. With the amount of food given, the prices were great. While waiting for our food, I made my way inside to take a look at the market and see all the snacks they have. It was great. read more

Wonderful place--food was delicious, everything high quality, beautifully presented, and delightful. Garden was peaceful and so pleasant--we ducked in during the Solano Stroll and it was a wonderful shady refuge that seemed miles away from any crowd, a magical getaway. Staff were fantastic--friendly, helpful, 110% professional, attentive and efficient but did not rush us at all. Best dining experience I've encountered anywhere! read more

Amazing outdoor seating, with nice trees and ambiance. Their cold noodles (simple nangmyeon) is our favorite. They have amazing spicy silken tofu stew too. It comes with rice but you can ask for ramen instead. Authentic flavorful korean food, our go-to place in the area. read more
Korean Superette is a cool concept, a sprinkle of supermarket but 75% a restaurant with a good outdoor patio vibe. I did a pick-up order for dinner, and happened to be in the area. Parking is all street, but free. They're located in downtown Albany which is nice if you're just strolling around the area looking for a cute lil meal spot. Once you walk in, the cashier is there to greet you, but the supermarket aesthetic begins. To your right there's a bunch of fridges lined up, from frozen bulgogi to various sojus and frozen potstickers you can take your pick on what Korean goods you want to take home after your meal. Nothing spoke to me, as it's just a taste of what regular supermarkets like HMart of Koreana offer. Once you walk farther in, there's indoor seating, then outside of the sliding doors there's a cute outdoor patio (still shaded) space. It's pretty expansive, so great for families and groups. Their dishes are pricey, but I've found that Korean food prices have increased exponentially over the course of this year. Expect to pay $20+ per entree. Their menu is pretty straightforward, options like a bento situation or a rice or noodle bowl. I got their popular item Palace Rice Cake which is on the sweeter side with bulgogi, rice cakes, onions, bell peppers, green onion, and some mushroom! The sauce was way too savory for me, I was so thirsty after eating it, and had to add the remaining sauce to my own homecooked rice meals. But portion sizes are filling. I did appreciate that the meal came with a mini cup of banchan, like 4 options but it was still nice especially with takeout. Their seaweed salad was great, the others were just alright. Service is with a smile and efficient. The online orders come out quicker than anticipated, especially if you're ordering at low-demand times. I wouldn't say Korean Superette is my fave Korean spot...I'm still going to go to Moo Bong Ri if I am craving Korean, but Superette is a good option if you're looking for something to go and quick. read more

The presentation looked really good, but the food itself wasn't very good. There was so much ice that made it really hard to eat since it was so cold. Not only is the dish itself not cheap, but the taste was also very meh. Would not recommend. The banchan was also very salty. The service itself is very friendly, but I noticed that the cup provided wasn't clean. The ambiance is very nice and I love the patio section, but this is probably the only plus of eating here. When you walk in, there's a small store section with snacks and other Korean goods that you can browse while you wait for your food. read more

My sister chose this place for us to meet up. She did so good bc this place was super cute, awesome food, and terrific service. Rice bowls: bulgogi & spicy pork. I tried my sister's bulgogi and it was 10/10! My spicy pork was very good as well but I think I'd pick the bulgogi next time. It just had this flavor to it..*chef's kiss*!! It came with rice and veggies. Parking: there's free street parking in front which was nice. The service from the server girl was very friendly and attentive. I like when I come across folks like her because it really adds to the overall dining experience. I also ordered a bento to-go for my husband. He thoroughly enjoyed it and also ordered spicy fried tofu as an appetizer. He didn't finish it so we had more than enough for lunch the next day for the both of us. This is such a cute place to sit outside. Great spot to meet up with a friend and catch up. Overall I'd come here again. read more

Yesterday i had a good time with my friend here. So came back today for the rice cake. But i am so disappointed about it. Because it burnt, and there are a lot black dots in the dish too. And a tastes of burnt too. Just ate a little bit and paid then left. read more

My friend took me here for dinner after work and it did not disappoint! The food smelled delicious upon entering the location and I loved the fact that you can purchase items in the market section. We arrived at a good time and were able to sit outside (late summer 2024). Within 15 minutes the restaurant was packed and you know that's a good sign!!!
