However, an important thing you will note immediately is that most of the staff and customers are Korean, which is obviously promising. I've been a few times now and each time Shilla's food managed to deliver each time. Their bibimbap is delicious as a lunchtime treat, or any time of the day really and their KBBQ offering is simply divine: the Galbi special and Samgyeopsal (pork belly) are among my faves. The quality of the meat is very good and although the banchan spread is quite limited, it is all really tasty. The service is a mixture of what you get in Switzerland (not that impressive) vs Korea (polite but good). One time the waiter forgot one of our dishes and while it took a while before they realized it, the manager went above and beyond to apologize and rectify the error. I guess everyone makes mistakes and the fact that he really tried to convince me that this is someone who is really passionate about customers. I must say that unfortunately not all his staff are as good as him, some of them seem quite indifferent so sometimes the service can be a bit hit and miss. Yes it isn't cheap, but Zurich is an expensive city and you often get what you pay for. I noticed that their menu contains some of my all time favorite Korean dishes (Yukhoe) so I will certainly go back to try! Highly recommended!

I was disappointed that I had to order kimchi, though -- usually kimchi should be served free of charge at a korean restaurant! Anyway, my partner had a dolsot bibimbap and I had a kimchi jigae. We were both happy with our food although i could not really find any meat in my kimchi jigae (i even emphasized to the waitress that I wanted a proper kimchi jigae with pork..). Nevertheless, we enjoyed our food. It was not the best korean meal i have had but at least it was not so pricy. We paid around 40 euros for everything (drinks, starters and main dishes). The atmosphere in this restaurant is far from romantic but the food is authentic and i especially liked the old korean woman(cook) who came by to each table to greet and ask the guests if things were OK. :)

There is a few selections and they also have kimchi fried rice and bulogi. I went for the beef bimbimbap and it was super quick. I can't say it wasn't tasty, mainly because I put quite a bit of red sauce but I was disappointed as it doesn't taste Korean at all. The red sauce is supposed to be Gochujang I assume but was just a very mild red pepper sauce and the beef wasn't slices of meat, it was ground beef. The veggies were quite random. I missed the Korean flavors and more importantly the heat of the gochujang. I guess this is a not too bad rice bowl but has nothing to do with bibimbap in my humble opinion! You can choose between chicken, beef and vegan Bibimbap. I tried all kind of variations. They are all delicious, however my favorite is the beef Bibimbap. I recommend the hot sauce and the homemade kimchi for the perfect mixture.
