Had a light dinner here my first night in Luzern during a recent long weekend. It was recommended by my friend who felt the Asian fusion menu was great quality. Short story: food is OK, service is OK, but menu is limited, and it is VERY expensive.
This place is easy to find, on a highly trafficked street, with outdoor seating (and heat lamps) and plenty of indoor seating in both the bar and a couple different dining rooms.
We opted to sit inside and were seated at a table for 2 in a dining room. The night we were there (a Sat night) they had a live DJ and the music he played was very appropriate for dining-into-evening bar, though a little on the loud side.
We ordered a bottle of wine: they brought out a single glass of wine. They quickly realized their mistake and took it back, then brought a new bottle. I found this weird, especially because they were not packed.
For dinner, we ordered the spicy calamari appetizer: they were out of it. Immediately, my friend asked what else they were out of, which you would expect them to tell you first before you ordered, and they said they had everything else.
So we went with the green papaya salad with grilled prawns, which we decided to share. They brought out two portions, split from the one salad, and the dish was pretty and tasted delicious. For our main, we again decided to split a dish and went for the ginger beef served with white rice. They again split the dish into two portions, which we both enjoyed.
Overall, the food was fine, but nothing special. With such a limited menu, I would have expected the food quality and taste to be a little fresher/higher/more special, and I would also expect them to have everything on the menu.
Dinner for two, which included (as a recap), a bottle of wine, one appetizer and one main split between us, was over $200 CHF, which I found exorbitant for what it was. read more
