I like to come here for a homey Korean meal. My family and I ordered: seafood stone pot Stone pot bi bim bap Seafood pancake Short rib soup I wouldn't say the dishes are bursting with flavor, but it's like getting a home cooked Korean meal. Each portion was filling, and the food was hot and fresh! My least favorite thing was the seafood stone pot. I wasn't a fan of the sauce, the spiciness, and it having frozen veggies. Probably one of my favorite Korean restaurants in the Twin Cities, if not my favorite, because of how much their food is consistently authentically on point. One can always easily find something on their menu that they can also find in Korea at a random location, and this establishment also gets the flavor right, along with the small plates that complement the meal. Whether it's the stone pot bibim-bap or just the bibim-bap, mixing rice with the given meat and vegetables, along with some gochujang, made it authentically delicious. The seafood pancake was more plain than the kimchi pancake, which was to be expected. It had the perfect amount of seafood to not make either the seafood or the pancakes overwhelming in terms of amount. The kimchi pancakes had the right kind of saltiness that was given by the kimchi. Once again, authentically delicious. The galbi tasted amazing, and I think I could taste a certain amount of butter based on the type of oiliness and saltiness that the meat had. I could remove the meat easily from the bones, and the meat was easy to chew as well. I think the black bean noodle was the only item that I was more critical about, because it was a bit watery and the sauce was plain. However, it wasn't bad at all and I still finished all of it. Just comparatively, it was less tasty, and I have had better in Korea or China. Around this area of Oak Street, if people want to look for good Korean food, there are a few very good options, and this establishment is definitely one of them. Korean food in Minneapolis? I mean, excellent Korean food in Minneapolis? Yes!!! This place was awesome. Quick and friendly service by all the wait staff and a free lesson on the correct pronunciation of a few Korean words for entrées. (Now I know how to properly pronounce Bulgogi!) My Bulgogi was so tasty and a huge portion that I didn't think I could finish by myself; but I did. It was so freakin' delicious I couldn't stop eating. This place was an amazing surprise. I went on a whim and a cold rainy day. Which turned out to be the perfect atmosphere for the comfort of a kimchi soup kind of day. The food is excellent, extremely flavorful and comforting. If I lived closer, I would be here all the time. The staff was great and listening to the kitchen sounds made me smile, especially because it sounded like being in grandma's house (any grandmother). Overall, we spent a lot of money and had a less than delightful culinary experience. We ordered Black Bean noodle - which had nearly zero flavor. I expected it to taste more like chinese black bean sauce. Wasted money. We ordered beef bulgogi which was quite good. We also ordered the seafood soup, which I knew was a gamble, but it had way more funk and way less umami flavor than I expected. We also ordered the seafood pancake which I think I would have really liked had it not been burned. Every bite tasted like burnt toast. The dipping sauce it came with was really good though. All in all, pretty disappointing given the $83 price tag for all of that. read more

Super quick service, I took a party of 15 there and we all got our food within 15 mins of ordering. The food was all fantastic! First time trying Korean food and I will definitely be returning for more! Parking is small but you can likely score a spot or you go between lunch and dinner times. We were in town for a couple of days and wanted some down-home Korean food. Korea Restaurant is simple, cozy and delicious. We started with some tender tasty tteokbokki. Our entrees were dolsot bibimbap, beef bulgogi and budae jjigae. Everything was delicious. The waiter was very attentive and overall the experience was a total winner. Oh, and we all loved the cucumber kimchi, served among the banchan. Located in the heart of the University district, go get some bap! read more

Cute little restaurant. We ordered the kimchi stew, japchae and grilled mackerel and of course Qalbi. Qalbi is my favorite! Very well seasoned and simply delicious. The japchae was tasty as well but I was missing the beef in it. That's how I always had it in the past but it was still pretty good without the egg and meat. The kimchi stew was so spicy yet I couldn't stop eating it. Very interesting flavor with the fermented cabbage. The dishes were served with a cup of rice for each of us and little dishes of kimchi and sprouts. Grilled mackerel had some bones in it so I was worried about my son eating it. But it was still tasty. And our bill totalled to be around $100. read more

I have been to this place when it was all the fashion decoration. They renovated the place kept it simple which makes it easy to clean there is parking in front of it for eight cars or so. Service was quick and the rice was crunchy at the bottom of my meal which made it really good. The sauce was not too spicy. And then greens were fresh and tasty. I've been here a few times in the past and I never regretted coming here. I'll come back again. Food was bomb, customer service was fire. Good mood and energy. Very peaceful, and the leftovers tasted great when reheated.

It appears that the restaurant was recently remodeled as my experience did not look like the older pictures posted. The dining area is small and looks like it can only sit maybe 6 parties of no more than 4 people. There were paper menus and table service, unlike older pictures that showed ordering off of a menu board and then sitting down with a number. The small space was not cramped but we sat by very noisy diners. The service was fine- not terrible but not great, but the food is the star here! My friend and I ordered the beef bibimbap bowl, spicy rice cakes, seafood pancake and pork bulgogi. I tried everything but the pork and everything was better than I expected! The spicy rice cakes were so chewy and perfectly flavorful, they're the best I've had so far in the cities! I could sit down and eat 2 plates of these haha! I took the majority of the seafood pancake home and was able to eat it cold for the leftovers the next day ( I didn't want to reheat seafood) and it was still good! This is a pretty quick service-sit down, eat and then leave type of joint. I am definitely coming back for the rice cakes and to try a few more things off the menu when I'm craving some comfort Korean food. read more

Ordered delivery from Uber eats FYI- everything is priced up A LOT on Uber eats. Highly recommend ordering directly from the restaurant, I just had an Uber coupon. Beef bulgogi (medium spice): 8/10, solid meal. Lots of meat, some pieces were chewy but since there was so much it didn't affect the portion. I ordered an extra side of rice with it, highly recommend since it is quite saucy. Only $2 extra for a nice tub of rice. Spicy rice cake (medium spice): 9/10, absolutely delicious. Was noticeably spicier than the beef, even though they are both "medium." Would be even better with mozzarella cheese on top to cut the heat, I am a big fan of tteokbokki so I am biased. Glass noodle stir-fry (no seafood, no shrimp, no meat, no mussel): 10/10. Delicious. May be a little salty to others, but I didn't mind personally. Comes with a side of pickled radish and kimchi, I just wish they gave us more kimchi! It was delicious. read more

Really, really, really yummy Korean cuisine at ridiculously cheap prices in a pretty authentic setting! We tried Korea Restaurant on a whim, and while it's a bit hard to find, tucked away from a busy street near the U of M, the food is totally worth queing up for! I felt like I was back in K-Town in LA, right down to the menu printed on the wall, take-a-number order system, and Korean-style water dispenser. They have a very wide range of authentic Korean dishes, and while the tok bok ki was a little more cooked (read: soft) than I like it, all of the flavors were absolutely amazing. We particularly liked the spicy pork and the soup, both reminded us of Korea. The bon chon were also super yummy and filling. Even with ordering two dishes each (so we could have leftovers for the next day), our total bill came to less than $30, and we left full and happy. Be aware, they only make a limited amount of Kim Bop every day, so get there early if that's what you want! There is a limited amount of parking in the lot, but you might also get blocked in if you park there. They have a clean bathroom. Service is super fast and friendly! read more

Korea is a great place when you want mom and pop Korean food! Kinda hidden. The outside is very unassuming but the food is good! You have pops working the cash register while the aunties work the kitchen. They even have the iconic Korean metal rice bowls and water cups. The beef bulgogi is delicious. Hint of sweetness and savory. Their beef soups also hit the spot especially on a cold day. Their chicken plates are also tasty if you're not in the mood for beef. I absolutely love this place! As soon as you walk through the doors, it's as though you've transported to somewhere far away - there's just no place like it in the Twin Cities. It's very small and somewhat chaotic (especially during the lunch hour). The ordering counter is right in front of the kitchen, which is open enough to see the heads and hands of the cooks. To the right of the counter is a wall where you can hear dishes clanking as they're being washed. There were waves of people that would walk up to the counter, form a line, put in their order and pick up their food. Chaotic and orderly. They have a great lunch menu with $8 meals. I got the DakGaeJang (Spicy Chicken Soup) and an order of the KimBop (often mistaken for Japanese sushi, but tastes very different). The soup was just delicious! We just tried this restaurant again after maybe half a year or so , since our last visit, happy to update different level of service and even better cleanliness . The food also improved much better. I would say we will be back as we visited every week before new ownership. One thing , as critic , what we are striving for reviewing a restaurant is the restaurant consciously keep improving or maintain high degree of Quality , Taste , Service and Cleanliness. Been a few years since I've been here and I can definitely taste the difference. I ordered the following for take out: seafood pancake, seafood tofu soup, 2 kimbap and a beef bulgogi. The soup had barely any broth it was more tofu and egg, not that much seafood too. Worst of all was the seafood pancake and I'm only saying this because the plastic sauce container was placed inside the same container as the pancake so by the time I got home the container melted and the sauce went all over the bottom layer of the pancakes making the bottom super salty and I had to end up eating the top without any sauce. If you haven't tried the pancake it taste very bland without the dipping sauce. I didn't try the kimbap or the beef bulgogi since those are for my kids. I wanted to call them to let them know but the guy that took my order didn't speak English so I didn't bother.Sad to say but I probably won't get takeout from here again. read more

This place is run like a cafeteria. There's no table service. So clean up after yourself and bring the tray to a cart where the guy will take it and wash it himself. There is a water dispenser there. So you do not need to buy a water bottle, unless you want pop. Now the menu here is on the wall across from where you order. They have pictures and describes what is in it. They have a good variety to choose from. I had gotten the cod soup and my wife got the seafood. And we did also get the seafood pancake with veggies. The prices are reasonably priced for the portions you get. When your order is ready, you will hear a ding(bell sound) and a number above the register indicates what order is ready for you to pick up that is on your receipt. Now to the flavor. The seafood soup was lighter then some places, but I think if we had gotten it spicey. It probably will be richer in taste, but still good. The cod was really flavorful. It had a good kick to it and thick filets. The seafood pancake came allot bigger than we expected. It had a good crunch and the right amount of meat and veggies. Just keep in mind that it do get a little warm in there and humid, due to all that soup that's cooking in the kitchen. They also have their own private lot, but a little tight. Beats paying tho right:) oh and if you want a to go container for your soup. It is 50 cents. They used to give the styrofoam ones, but the health inspector shut that down. Its only 50 cents and those plastic containers can be a bit pricey , so I don't mind paying 50 cents lol. The styrofoam boxes for non liquid foods are free tho. read more

Restaurants under a hair salon are often a risk, they can go either way as far as experiences go. I had been eyeing "Korea" for a couple of years now but until recently had no occasion to pay it a visit. It is a hole in the wall type, self service establishment with an open kitchen and open washing area. The menu is all numbers against photos of familiar dishes on a wall. The terms no-frills and popular, can't be emphasized enough for this place. Packed from corner to corner with patrons standing in between tables, waiting for a takeaway order or to occupy the next empty chair, this establishment possess the lovely atmosphere of a bustling business in Asia. Surprisingly, the whole place despite the overwhelming clientele is very clean and efficient. They do specially priced lunch specials and even their mains are pretty reasonable. I had the Chicken Boko which is essentially spiced, stir fried chicken with vegetables. It took only a couple of minutes from order to table. It was pretty good if a tad oilier than other places. The usual sides and hot white rice were all super fresh. I guess "Korea" comes closest in restaurants in this part of town to the vibe of cheap but great restaurants that color the culinary scene in most of South East Asia. A little less oil and chicken a bit more sour and this place could be a 5/5. read more

Fundamentally sound Korean food. I ordered two staples - topokki and bibimbap - and it was ready to go within ten minutes. Oh yeah: any time a Korean restaurant gives you banchan with a to-go order, it's definitely a plus. The topokki was fine, but not exceptional. I would have preferred if there were a little more of the spicy sauce and also a little more chew to the rice cakes. The bibimbap was generously portioned in terms of the rice and vegetables. However, I wish there had been more bulgogi. I'm not usually a fan of bulgogi, but it was actually pleasant here. I'll be back when I crave staple Korean dishes. read more

When I was a student, I loved the food here! The restaurant was a hole in the wall, nothing fancy, old tables and chairs, a self serve water cooler, old school AC and fans sitting around and is just poorly set up, and you bus your own plates, but their food was awesome and I kept coming back esp since they had a bike rack and parking lot. Fast foward to 2021! Wow, they must have a new cook cause the food was not up to par as it use to be. The jap chae had overcooked noodles, and a nasty after taste as if it was cooked in overused burnt oil... and we ordered beef as our protein, and when we got home (take out during pandemic times), there was no meat to be found!! Annoyed. Some items on their menu was "sold out" and the other items we did order was not very good either.
