My wife and I were very hungry and craving Chinese food. The other Englewood chinese restaurant closed to my surprise (china 1), so I decided to try this with my wife. The food was cooked shockingly quick. My meal looked good, but unfortunately didn't have very much flavor. The fried rice was just 'okay'. Mostly just a dark soy sauce flavor. The fried rice was very plain with maybe a few pieces of onion, nothing else. I tried the pork spare ribs. Unfortunately they were pretty dry, tough, and without much flavor. The price was not very cheap though, with the lunch special about $10. I expect much better flavor for that price. My wife tried the shrimp and mixed vegetables and the sauce didn't look very good. I would have liked to see the mixed vegetables stir fried with the shrimp, but instead it had a gooey clear sauce. Our two lunch specials came up to more than $20 and I was extremely underwhelmed for that price. At least we tried it, but we won't be returning. read more

I am a snob when it comes to Asian Food. I am the first one to complain when it's greasy or not fresh or tastes weird. There are so many variations when it comes to the same dish but a different chef. Koo's has never disappointed and I'm surprised by some of the reviews. The soups are all delicious, always fresh. We order the Hot & Sour, House and Vegetable soups. So good. The egg rolls and spring rolls are never greasy. Love them. The Crab Rangoon actually has crab in it. Again very good. Our favorite dishes: Chicken with Black Bean sauce, Singapore Mai Fun, Any kind of Moo Shu, Chicken & Shrimp with Veggies, Lo Mein and and every Spicy dish. Love their Pork Fried Rice. Tried garlic sauce shrimp lunch combo which came with egg roll and fried rice. The sauce is flavorful and came with 5 large shrimps with wide variety of vegetables in the mix. We decided to use the internet app to order so that order could not be misunderstood. On a positive note, my Chicken Cashew was excellent. My husband always orders Pepper steak but no onions ( allergies) and adds pea pods and water chestnuts. This was written out on the order. He picked it up, brought it home and.... Pepper steak with onions!!! No pea pods or water chestnuts. They can't read ??? This is a really nice take out place. The staff we spoke with were great and they make a lot of their own food. Many of the Chinese take out places have the same egg rolls, spring rolls and crab Rangoons from one of the two big distributors. They are a wonderful restaurant who cooks the food you order in front of you. Other than the rice, nothing is was prepared ahead of time. read more
