After purchasing a brand new Mustang on 10/2/15, my man asks me, "What do you think about stripes down the middle?" I concurred. It didn't take long for him to search for 3M authorized dealers in our area. He found two dealers he liked. I chose Kooltint in Alhambra. On 10/6/15, I called Bernie at around 3:30 p.m. to see if he'd take a look at my husband's car and provide him with a quote. My husband drove there immediately. Got the quote. Said Bernie was a cool guy with reasonable prices. The next day (10/7) I scheduled an appointment for the stripes for the following day (Thursday) and a clear front end mask on Friday. For this reason, the car stayed in Alhambra overnight on Thursday. My husband had an anxiety about this, but it's a decent area and the car was taken good care of. I wasn't there for the pick-up, but for the drop-off I was. Bernie is indeed a cool guy. His shop is pretty clean. He walked over the car to ensure there wasn't any damage before we proceeded. On our way out, he said he was taking it to a nearby car wash, but asked for permission to do beforehand. If you're wanting 3M stripes, consider this (& I'm stealing this from my husband): it's like a tattoo. No matter how good the artist is, there will be slight imperfections. You have to be extremely detail-oriented to see these. Most importantly, don't worry about the bubbles that may appear a few days afterwards. They will smooth out on their own or Bernie will tell you how to take care of them. We are going back sometime soon to add stripes on the sides of the car. That's how amazing they look. The clear mask seems to be very much worth the investment especially on the screwed up streets of L.A. Kooltint does a variety of other work. Check them out & ask for a quote. If you're at all familiar with these types of post-factory installations, then I think you'll find the pricing to be extremely reasonable. Review #414 Yelp challenge 95/100

I have been waiting a long time to get stripes applied to my car. I planned on going with the twelve inch stripes. I contacted Kooltint and spoke with the owner (Bernie). He informed me that he was able to apply twelve inch stripes on my car for a reasonable price. I made an appointment for next week. Upon arrival of the business (Kooltint), I made contact with Bernie. He informed me that he was mistaken and that he only had ten inch stripes. I just wanted stripes so bad that I stated ,"No worries, that is fine." I was confident that my vehicle was going to look outstanding because this establishment had great reviews. He informed me that it would take a while and he offered to give me a ride; however, I informed him that I would rather just wait here. That was very nice of him. I waited in a room which had a television, water dispensary machine, and a couch. While I was watching tv, he started working on the car. From time to time, I checked up on his progress. I was liking my car after he barely applied the stripes on the hood of the car. After several hours, he finished the stripes. I was excited to check out my new ride. I observed the stripes right above the chin spoiler were not cut properly. I was able to see some of the red because he didn't cut it straight. I told Bernie about it and he fixed it up for me which made me happy. I inspected the rear of the vehicle and observed a fold/misplaced stripe on the back stripe. I told Bernie about it and he stated that he didn't see it. Nevertheless, he ended up retouching it. At this point, I knew that Bernie did not care about perfection. This should have been a red flag to not return to get the side stripes done on my car. A week later I returned to get stripes applied to the side of the vehicle. I told him the design I wanted and he started working on the car. I waited in the waiting room. After couple hours, the car was done. I exited the waiting room and inspected my vehicle. Everything looked good so I thanked him and left the location. I ended up eating at a restaurant near the place with my girlfriend. I noticed that there were air bubbles on the side stripes and the on the edge of the stripe, it was not applied properly so it was dangling. I informed Bernie about this and he told me to bring it in. I noticed that the driver side stripe was not straight but I didn't tell him about it. Once I brought it in, I showed it to him and he fixed it. At this point, I was a bit frustrated and disappointed. I forgot whether it was couple days later or couple weeks later but I couldn't stand looking at my car's driver side (stripe not being straight). I ended up contacting Bernie again about this situation and then I ended up getting it fixed a week later. All in all, Bernie is a great guy and he is all about customer service and that's awesome! However, I was not pleased with his work on applying stripes. Perhaps, Bernie may be great and a perfection with tinting or other things, but applying stripes on a car is not one of them. He also forgot to finish the stripe on the rear right below the license plate. I would rather pay someone else to finish the work than return to the location again. It's just old and tiring. As a law enforcement officer, I attempt to conduct a thorough investigation the first time to prevent from getting in trouble/fired or re conducting the investigation/case which takes up time and resources. I wasted my time and money by having to return to the business get my stripes re-touched. The reason why I decided to pay more money compared to other businesses that quoted less was because I thought that this business was capable of perfecting the job based off their reviews. I would not recommend people to come here for stripes. Maybe you will have a better experience with Kooltint, who knows. Good luck. I just wanted to inform my fellow yelpers of my experience at Kooltint. Thanks for reading.

I had an excellent experience with Bernie and his team. They were able to do a full bumper, headlights, turn signals, center console, partial hood and fender clear bra protection. In addition, they installed a nice ceramic 35% tint on the windows. I would highly recommend and will be returning for the front windshield and chrome delete!

Just in time for summer. I would definitely recommend Kooltint for your window tinting & wraps. Great work Bernie! Bernie is a great guy to work with and offers good advice. This is my second time at this shop, I first brought my car to tint, all windows including front windshield. My wife recently got a new car and we got the windows tinted and installed paint protection mask on the hood, fenders, front bumper, headlights, fog lights and door handles.

It took a few attempts, but my car looks awesome! I had my windows tinted and the windshield treated with a clear film to reduce heat transfer. I have admit, I'm really picky when it comes to little details. I took the car back to have the windshield and two of the windows redone, because they had lint bubbles - it was driving me nuts! Bernie redid them at no cost, and always with a smile. He even gave me a ride to and from work. When they say their work has a lifetime guarantee, they really mean it. Bernie was very professional and accommodating as I asked for an early appointment. He explained the different types of tints thoroughly. I had to bring my car in a few times in order for them to fix the little bubbles that were still showing. Bernie was apologetic and offered right away to fix the issue. At the end the job was done great but not perfect. There are still a few tiny bubbles here and there but one has look very close to see them. Overall, job well done. read more

3 month update!!! After having Bernie do what he said was his best work and returning 3 times in a week and a half to fix the bad job he did I am still left with huge stretch marks on the hood and the bottom of the bumper is now peeling away. Bernie supposedly fixed the front bumper the second time I had to bring it back. This is my third car I have had wrapped, the first time by Bernie so I now know a good wrap and a terrible amateur wrap at best. He really needs to back and learn how to apply wrap. He did a fine job on my window tint but I repeat Do Not Let Bernie do any kind of wrap on your car, he promised he would fix anything that wasn't done correct and after 3 times returning he has failed to fix anything. Bernie, without your word you have nothing. read more

I had 5 windows tinted during the heat wave last month. I didn't post a review right away cuz I wanted to see how the tints held up. As of today, I'm still 100% happy with the work. Bernie was great, and i got a good price. When I arrived, he told me it was going to take a little longer than expected, so he dropped me off at the nearby movie theater. 2 hours later, I finished The Dark Knight Rises and got back into my nicely tinted car. read more

Today, my fiancé and I searched for a convenient location that offered quality work at a fair price for window tinting the side and rear windows of our new BMW. After doing a Yelp search, my fiancé found Kooltints and gave them a call. He spoke with Bernie who told him he could do the job today. We took it in shortly after the call. We were going to go conventional, but after the heat lamp demo between the conventional tinting and high performance tinting, we were sold on the instant and long term value we would get on the high performance tinting for the additional fair cost. The job would take 3-4 hours so we decided we would go to the movies nearby. Bernie had just seen Interstellar and he gave us a good brief synopsis. We decided to see it and really enjoyed the film. By the time we were out, the car was ready for us. Bernie went over what he did and informed us how to best care for the tint for its longevity. He also ensured our investment with a lifetime warranty. We are 100% satisfied with the quality of the work, the service, and the value. Oh, and also with Bernie's movie reviews. ;) Thanks Bernie! Friendly people, but can't tint for S###! Bernie had great customer service over the phone, so i went ahead and moved forward with tinting my car. I dropped off my car at 10 am (First car there, even had an appointment) he told me to come back in 2 hours, i came back and he said he got interrupted because he had to take care of some other cars first and that it should be done in about 2 hours. i came back and still nothing. he finished at 6 pm. I wouldn't have mind the wait time if the tint was good. but they tint suck. after closely inspecting it further, his crew really does do a horrible job. all the reviews were probably from his friends. read more

I like this place because the owner is very honest. He called me almost at the end of the job, and told me he's not satisfied the quality of one window and asked me if it's okay that he can redo it. I was very impressed by his honesty. Most shops would try to hide and hope you'd pick up your car and leave. They did a good job tinting the window; most importantly, they are honest. Good job on the 3m clear bra on front bumper and fender, even though he tried to sell me a different product. I bit on the clear headlight protection and added the rear quarter panel for an additional charge. It was nearly 1300 took about a day to complete.
