YELP! you steered us wrong! We were in the area for an errand and decided to give Konran a try. We really wanted to like this place as its a local restaurant with cute decor and friendly staff, however the food was severely amateur. We ordered goyoza, yum yum noodles, 2 bowls of spicy shoyu with pork belly and garlic cheese fries. Ohhhhh where to begin... The goyoza were from a freezer bag and weren't even good quality. They decided to fry them which made the dough hard (not crispy) and there were about 8 tiny goyoza for $8! The garlic cheese fries were frozen, seasoned, grade school curly fries with cheese whiz on them. The spicy shoyu had soba noodles not Ramen and the noodles were mushy after a couple minutes at the table. This was touted by the waiter as having "more vegetables" than the other soups but that consisted of scallion, frozen corn nibblets, frozen edamame, and kimchee. The pork belly looks like it was purchased cooked and they seared one side. The fat in the pork belly wasn't rendered correctly and the soup was not balanced. In authentic shoyu you get half a soft egg with runny yolk...the egg in this was hard boiled and sliced with an egg slicer. If you're looking for something authentic and tasty- probably skip this restaurant. Our bill was $58 and we left thinking we ate at the mall food court. Please...cooks at Konran...visit Asia or at LEAST some AUTHENTIC Asian restaurants and tweak your menu! read more

I had the beef Bulgogi with rice and a side of kimchi. I also had the fried dumplings as an appetizer. The waiter was very helpful with making my selections and knowledgeable of their menu. The food came out fast and fresh. I really enjoyed it everything. I didn't really care for the dumplings, they didn't taste fresh. I feel like they were made and frozen then cooked when asked. They tasted good just not like I'm used to. I will be back again to try other menu items. read more

Konran - Beef Bulgogi with rice, A side of kimchi, and some deep fried wontons. - Asian Fusion Near Me - Petersburg, Virginia

Food is okay. Not Asian at all. Just a bunch of pepper and cajun seasoning. Miso soup was just hot water and pepper. Yum yum chicken was slathered with the sauce, which made everything taste the same. Food not recommended for anyone who is actually wanting Asian food. Servers were nice. Ambiance is fine. read more

Food was delicious! Had a family dinner there and service was great. Looks like they do more take out than eat in. Would highly recommend!!!

We accidentally stumbled upon this place after a festival downtown- we loved it! The mini crab rangoons were super crunchy and nothing short of amazing! Try the katsu on any/everything you possibly can! Our server was fast and attentive! We will be visiting again. read more

First things first, they have a food truck! Dragon Ball Z fans, you'll love it solely for the name of it; "Nimbus". I recently ordered to-go and the service was extremely quick for a Friday evening. The server accommodating me was really sweet. The look of the place is thoroughly clean. I loved that they had a bar in there as well. The food came out hot and definitely filled our wants & needs for the night! Totally recommend this place. read more

So we stopped by because we are new to town and checking out our local spots! Sadly this was a total miss. Ordered apps (gyoza & wontons) the Gyoza was definitely not cooked all the way only realizing it half way through. The wontons were very burnt! I just couldn't believe they even brought them out. I ordered the shoyu ramen with chicken, and it came out Cajun seasoned?? The noodles were not anywhere close to ramen noodles. The Cajun seasoning was over powering and unpleasant. I enjoy Cajun when I know it's Cajun food. If there was a Cajun ramen option I would have probably enjoyed that but this ramen was bad. Only redeeming quality was that the eggs were soft boiled. Husband got the Yum Yum Shrimp. It was literally spaghetti noodles with yum yum sauce and Cajun seasoned shrimp...... Very very over priced for what it's worth. read more

This location has been a few different restaurants over the years but is now considered 'Asian fusion'. I called in my order for a late lunch on a Friday afternoon and I had a few questions about the menu and the person that answered the phone was really nice and patient and answered all of my questions. I finally decided on the vegetarian teriyaki with broccoli, zucchini, mushrooms, and onions served with rice and a salad with awesome ginger dressing. Once I arrived I was checking out the dessert menu and I saw that they offered beignets and I really wanted to give them a try but my order was ready and I didn't have much time to wait so I will have to return to try dessert and drinks. My vegetarian dish was ok overall but it was seasoned with way too much pepper as it overpowered the dish the more I ate so needless to say I was only able to finish half the dish. read more

Out of the blue we searched yelp for a place to eat and this came up first. My husband and I LOVE Asian food so we went for it! Upon arrival we were quickly greeted and seated. Our waitress was great and efficient. I ordered the Hibachi teriyaki shrimp with fried rice. The serving was huge. The flavor was on point. As a big veggie person, the zucchini and onions were cooked and flavored just right! I have no complaints. My husband ordered the Hibachi teriyaki chicken and shrimp with fried rice. He almost cleared his plate. Yes that means he loved it too! He says is was way more flavorful than your average hibachi. The flavor on the shrimp had a nice surprise kick to it. To our surprise, it came with Soup broth with mushrooms and onion straws. We both killed that as well. I could eat the soup all day. So light and full of flavor. Tip: you can get yum yum sauce on the side. A tiny bit on the rice is delicious!! We didn't have room left in our bellies but they had a nice dessert menu. Maybe next time we will save some room. We both definitely recommend this place. You won't be dosapy read more

Just had dinner here with 8 other friends and we reached a quick consensus to never eat there again. We ordered a variety of menu items from cream cheese wontons to shoyu ramen, and everything seemed to be a total miss. I ordered the teriyaki chicken and it was extremely bland and was basically just chopped up chicken breast and a sad excuse for over seasoned fried rice. Do yourself a favor and choose one of the Japanese restaurants in Hopewell instead. read more

Food was tasty, had the plum wings VERY delicious, crab rations very good , fries crunch and tasty, their drinks are amazing . the cheesecake wontons are AMAZING I loved them 10/10. And the service was immaculate . You would think because it's in Petersburg it "can't be that good" but indeed it is ! Will be going back with friends again read more

I would give this place ten stars if I could. A must-go if you're anywhere within reasonable driving distance. We stopped in randomly on a road trip and had one of the best dining experiences ever. It's new, and an absolutely stunning space. The service, from beginning to end, was superlative. We enjoyed free samples of the house soup, which was delicious; and the daily special, a spicy gumbo. I settled on the raspberry chicken, and my coworker had the yum yum chicken with soba. Both were absolutely superlative. We could not believe how little our bills were when they came! I can't wait to see this sparkling new place become packed with devoted fans. It's just a matter of time! read more

We arrived about 2:30 or 3:00 pm- only us and the waiter. We were greeted and seated almost immediately. The menu definitely matches their sign- Asian Fusion. Definitely Korean and Japanese on the menu. They also advertised Creole/ Cajun but I didn't see any on the menu but maybe I overlooked it. We ordered water to drink. It came out under 5 minutes. We ordered and the complimentary soup- a light onion mushroom soup came out in less than 10 minutes. The soup was delicious and hot and a pleasant surprise. Often miso is weak. My wife ordered chicken katsu with kimchi. I had a teriyaki steak with noodles and vegetable. The kimchi was excellent, chicken katsu slightly over breaded. The steak was done perfectly. The food was good but not outstanding-- some things were great and others just OK. That being said, I would go back and try something else. I did like the decor which was Asian and spare- a modern look in an older building. Nice large windows made it light and airy. read more

Me and a few friends went here and loved it everything was amazing the staff nice and friendly

I placed a to-go order for vegetable hibachi. It tasted alright but the portions weren't the greatest.

Had a pick up order of spring rolls and crab wontons. Wontons were cooked too hard. Both served with the same salty sauce. It definitely wasn't sweet and sour. I don't know if I'll be doing that again read more

Konran - Not open at 633 pm Saturday - Asian Fusion Near Me - Petersburg, Virginia

Good evening, my daughter raved about Konran. When we arrived there were two people eating at around 6:30PM. This is always an ominous sign on a Friday or Saturday evening in any populated area in the US. The restaurant is in a nice setting in old Town Petersburg. Appetizers were good, mY meal was actually very good. I had the steak hibachi, full of flavor and enjoyable. My wife had the chicken noodle bowl and it had and off flavor that, truly was indescribable. A few bites was all she could stomach. I thought she was over exaggerating however once I tried it I agreed, it was just not good. The service was good and the food was hit or miss. Consistency wins races and fans. My best advice...Get great at a dish and master it. I think it may be worth a try, however keep your expectations mediocre. read more

We had not ordered this in over a year. It is expensive in the sense that everything is ala cart. The crab rangoon is definitely not worth the cost. Super tiny mini wontons with no filling for $9. The hibachi steak and the yum yum chicken very basic. The food is decent, but much better value and flavor from Hokkaido in Prince George. read more

Stuck in a hotel for work, thought I would try them for delivery. I am enormously pleased I did. I had the Goyoza, which was crisp and flavorful, and the spring rolls which were flaky and delicious. For the entree I had the Bulgogi. The noodles were perfectly done, and the beef was deeply flavorful. The sautéed onions had nicely caramelized. Dinner arrived quickly and was piping hot. I look forward to visiting the actual restaurant. read more

Went to this place a while back. Just not getting to post. Me and my friend went here (she's vegan) for lunch. She order fried rice with veggies and they made sure that it was cooked without eggs which we appreciated. I had the noodles which was suggested to me by our waiter. They were AMAZING to say the least. I have been craving them ever since. We were hoping they had more vegan options like tofu but they didn't which is okay but hopefully they add it. It was a bit pricey. 14 for the noodles but worth it. read more

I had heard that there was a new restaurant that was opening up in town, and I decided to give it a try. I walked in and was greeted very quickly and warmly by the staff, with a choice was giving on seating preferences; it was not like a regular restaurant where they put you where they want you. Venue was very extensive and had a wide variety of options. The food was cooked extremely well and had great seasoning. The portions were a lot bigger than normal and if anyone leaves hungry it is because they did not finish their meal LOL I would highly recommend this new restaurant to anyone and I personally feel that it is going to be a restaurant that there will be a waiting line to get in read more

Hubby and I decided to try out this new oriental and cajun restaurant today. All I can say is the service and food were spectacular! I had the Konran curry with blackened chicken and white rice. It was served in a bowl with white rice under a thick and creamy curry sauce containing potatoes and carrots and topped with a perfectly seasoned blackened sliced chicken breast. It was so delicious. Hubby had the teriyaki chicken hibachi. He said it was the best he had ever had. I finally managed to swipe a taste. He was right. It was awesome. His meal came with a broth soup with mushrooms and onion straws. It was really good. Our server was wonderful. We even got to meet one of the chefs (l believe there are 4 chefs). The staff is so excited and enthusiastic about their food and restaurant. I sincerely wish them the best of luck in this venture and will be back soon. read more

I got the miso soup, kids chicken, and konran noodles. The miso soup taste like dish water, kids chicken has way to much pepper and no flavor, and the noodles got even more pepper than the chicken. All I can taste is pepper and disappointment. Rice is very hard AND ALSO HAS ITS A LOT OF PEPPER. Tofu has no flavor and the worst miso I've ever had. Overall this place deserves 0 stars but I can't even put that, and there is nothing good about this meal I ordered. read more

Nicely decorated. Plenty of tables. Soup came with meals we ordered. Appreciate the free item however, It was quite blend and lacking flavor. We ordered hibachi teriyaki chicken and spicy clucker chicken with fried rice. Didn't know spicy clucker chicken was a burger and I added fried rice as a side. I ended up removing buns from the burger and ate the chicken with fried rice. I have to say it was quite good. Chicken was moist and flavorful. Teriyaki chicken wasn't the best we've had. Overall, we enjoyed dinning there. read more

Usually, when ordering noodles to go, the restursnt knows to pack them separately from the broth so they aren't overcooked. The noodles came in the broth and were very soft, the egg wasn't how I asked for it (also overcooked), and the broth was extremely garlicky. The only saving grace was the amount of pork in the ramen. I am used to one or two pieces in a traditional ramen, this had many, and they were of okay quality, fatty but that's normal. The mini Beignets were light, fluffy, and tasty. read more

First time visiting this establishment for a "farewell luncheon" and OMG, amazing!!!! I've had Bulgogi many of times at different restaurants, to include in Korea, but this flavor was on point! An amazing spot that is hidden but worth it! One of the best places in Petersburg... great hibachi lunch specials!Teriyaki Chicken

Ok. I had to cool myself down before I could write a review on how pissed off I was eating here. Beware! Don't get the "spicy noodle!" Keep reading for more detail. My son wanted noodles and I searched for a noodle place and this place popped up. 4 stars why not? I always heard of restaurants paying for reviews and this place has to be it. We ordered 2 appetizers (spring rolls and coconut shrimp). Coconut shrimp... $12 for 6 (only 3 decent size one and then hidden underneath were 3 small ones- not worth the price.) Kids menu: Why would you use old english font for kids menu? My older kids were confused why the restaurant made it hard for kids to read. We had the kids special which is 2 sides and drink. We got the noodle and fried rice. It was plain, nothing special just stirred up in soy sauce. My oldest had the chicken katsu. The mango sauce is not complimentary to the chicken. Might want to rethink that again. Now the "Spicy Ramen".... the one and only customer in the restaurant sitting at the bar was eating it so we were thrilled there was ramen... thinking it's like a japanese fusion ramen.... after all its asian fusion ... so my husband ordered steak and I ordered chicken. Ramen comes out and my husband tastes the broth first as I was busy feeding my youngest and grins at me. I'm thinking ok this must be good because he's smiling. I proceed to taste the soup and almost wanted to cry. It's FREAKING $0.99 SHIN RAMEN! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!? CHARGING $16-18 FOR $0.99 RAMEN?!?!? A cheap instant noodle topped with OVERSEASONED cajun crusted chicken and steak. The sodium content in the noodle itself is 1000+ mg but to add more salt to it? I had to add my cup of water to cut the salt and the waiter seemed embarrassed. Don't waste your money. The entire menu was overpriced and city point has better prices than here. If you want ramen and what their selling, it's Nongshim Shin Ramen. There. Saved y'all $15! read more
