Petersburg area have limited Caribbean restaurants to choose from. Caribbean Kitchen new location is clean and odor free. The service was prompt and I ordered my food within minutes of coming inside. It took less than 10 minutes for my food. I always enjoy the grill taste of the jerk chicken. The prices are not too expensive and I enjoyed authentic caribbean food from here. Was at Fort Gregg Adams for a work trip and a couple of my colleagues tried this place and had only good things to say about them so we stopped by for dinner on one of our last nights there. A couple pointers: don't expect dine in. Right now it's take out only. If you want a meat or chicken patty, come early; they sell out fast. If you want to wait for a couple patties, it takes about 30 minutes wait time (but it's well worth the wait!). The small platter was enough for dinner and left overs for the next day. A large would definitely accommodate two people. The food was great!! We really wanted the meat patty so we waited for our food about 25/30 minutes and it was well worth it. The oxtails were tender but not spicy which I liked. The meat patty though was spicy and well flavored. My co worker got the jerk chicken and she stated it was spicy but she liked it. FYI this place is carry out only. We drove 35 min to eat inside and it is not open for dine in. Other than that, the jerk chicken was so moist and delicious. Oh my gosh, this place has one of the best roti's that I've ever eaten. I loved it , it was a perfect blend of spices. The meat was tender, almost falling off the bone, the roti pancake was perfect. And the portion was so generous. I actually made two meals out of it. It was such a good culinary experience. Overall, it felt like I had bought the dish on the island of Jamaica from a great chef / restaurant. You definitely have to get this restaurant a try. I came back to this place after eating it once or twice a week and my very last visit the food taste old. You know that old when you walk in somebody house and can smell they long lived there for a long time. That Goodwill smell was basically the taste of my food. I'm guessing it was leftover which leads to think that's why there food doesn't take very long, it must be pre made and brought in. I think I'll leave it to Jamaica House on my food. read more

Going inside, I was transported to the islands - friendly and helpful duo at work, yummy chicken and beef patties, curried or jerk chicken, goat and other options. Went for a chicken and beef patty along with the Jerk Chicken. Very good, nice flavors. The chicken is served cut, on the bone, served with a jerk sauce over rice and beans and a side of cabbage. The rice and beans alone are outstanding. Good heat and spice but not too overpowering. Delicious! Nice to have an authentic international spot in the area. I could eat 10 of them or at least try. The chicken was good, but nothing like the beef. We ordered three entrees to share: Jerk Chicken, Curry Chicken, and Pepper Steak and that's in order from favorite to least favorite. Each comes with rice & beans and cabbage. The Jerk Chicken is a must try! The chicken is grilled and covered with a Jerk gravy. Excellent spices and a hint of heat. I must urge you to eat slowly, one to enjoy the flavor experience and two to search for bones. They just do a rough chop on the birds and serve it all, so happy hunting! I was told by an employee that the specialty was curry chicken and jerk chicken........I was told by a friend that the oxtails were great but I opted on the 'specialty' curry chicken with rice/beans, cabbage and a side of jerk. Sadly, the rice was kind of gooey and unlike any Caribbean rice/beans I had before, the cabbage was good, the curry chicken was ok, and the jerk chicken was pretty dreadful...the sauce had a really weird taste and no spice at all.
