Another bar from the team behind Pacific Cocktail Haven (PCH), my love? Sign me up! They have fun cocktails and fun ambiance. It's even better during the holidays when they play Christmas movies on the TVs and have insane decorations and holiday drinks and mugs. So fun! Service is great and it's pretty busy, even on weeknights.

Awesome bar/cocktail lounge with an upbeat yet cool and grungy vibe. Even though they had some great mixology going on, it was still a very chill spot. I was staying a the hotel next door and a group of us came over right as they opened. We sat at the bar and perused the regular and happy hour menus. Two of us went with regular cocktails and two the happy hour drinks. Wished that we had more time or that they stayed open a little later so we could've tried more of the drinks before or after our activities. I thoroughly enjoyed my pimms cup, and everyone else enjoyed their drinks as well. They also had a menu of some elevated hotdogs that sounded really good. Service was friendly and drinks were fresh and made to order.

I LOVED this spot! I was in town for a work trip and stopped in after checking into the hotel next door right as they opened on Tuesday at 4pm. We had a full night booked, but wanted a cocktail and as soon as I learned they serve hot dogs I knew I'd need one of those as well. We grabbed a spot at the bar and although their happy hour deals were fun, I opted for the more expensive Blushing Dragon ($18) that ended up being absolutely delicious and beautiful. When you get a half passionfruit and spoon to eat it, you know it's fancy. I also got a Sisig hot dog and it was excellent. I love a hot dog at a bar, and I love it even more when they have elevated flavors. The bartender was also so friendly and made sure we had plenty of water. If we didn't already have plans I would have stayed for more drinks. I'll absolutely be back in the future- such a vibe!

Anyone that names their business after their dog, I'M THERE! Opening in 2021, Kona's is the little sister of award-winning Pacific Cocktail Haven. Shortly after opening, Kona's was listed on Esquire's "Best Bars of America". Indoor seating only. Dog-friendly! M E N U Craft cocktails inspired by street markets across the globe. Most cocktails on the menu are $18. For snacks, they have cup noodles, corn nuts, and chicharrónes. 5% SF mandate added to all bills. D R I N K S * Ranch Water: Milagro Blanco Tequila w/ guava, spice ($18): https://tinyurl.com/5e4cn7pz Light on the alkie, easy to drink with a pleasant tropical sweetness. * Boracay Old Fashioned: No. 3 Gin w/ blanc vermouth, bay leaf, coconut water, pandan, calamansi ($18): https://tinyurl.com/2f5jxvkm Refreshing with a nice earthy flavor with vanilla-y and citrusy notes. Not too sweet. Reminds of PCH's leeward negroni but lighter on the alkie. I appreciate the little touches like the custom etched large ice cube. * Hendrick's Gin shaken w/ twist ($12): https://tinyurl.com/2s3b8wck The two cocktails barely gave me a buzz so Hendrick's to the rescue. Solid and served in a chilled glass. For the drunchies, we ordered a bag of 4505's Chicharrones ($8). S E R V I C E The bartenders were awesome - very upbeat and personable. Tina was so sweet! She gave TT lots of love, treats, and water. Unfortunately, our server seemed to be having a bad day. As soon as we walked in, he stopped us and ask that we show our IDs (no "Hi") and kept passing our table without taking our drink order (not busy with two other tables). Ended up having to go to the bar for the three rounds and to pay our tab. A M B I A N C E Love the AZN night market vibes! Dark and colorful with the custom neon sign of the owner's pittie. Mix of table seating and bar seating. There are arcade games, a pool table, and TVs. Boiler Room and Point Break was playing. P A R K I N G Nearest garage is across the street at Hearst Parking Center ($12 first hour). Overall, loved the vibes of Kona's but I thought the cocktails weren't as great as PCH's. Would return tho and stick with the basics.

Lovely tiki bar that does such fun Christmas and Halloween themes! My only wish was that they were open on the weekends.

Stopped by after dinner one night to catch the rest of the Warriors game. Place was relatively quiet and slow for a weekday. Their last call is around 9 or 9:30 - which is really early. Wrapped up and headed to a hotel to watch the rest of the game. Had a couple Toki Highballs at the bar. Nothing special. Staff was nice and friendly.

Divey bar but upscale in the financial district with a decent happy hour menu from 4 to 7. Perfect service and unique cocktails. Got the milk punch made with some fancy stuff I didnt understand and a decent red. Very friendly staff and if I am in area I will be back. No food available and there is no parking g anywhere.

Fun spot. Pretty empty around 4:30pm on a Tuesday night. Seats had filled up but there was still room to stand and at the bar by 6:20 pm. The server was did not seem to know the drink menu that well, when I asked for something refreshing he suggested the Get Lost, and it ended up being great! * Get Lost ($18) - 4.5 stars Light refreshing and very tasty!

    The sipping Santa.

12/7 I guess Santa Claus can come in various forms, and he doesn't just reside on the North Pole. Where: my friends and I stumbled upon this bar that is currently all decked out in Tiki Christmas decor. If you want to see how Santa Claus fairs in warm tropical climates, then this is where you should be this holiday season. You'll find this bar within walking steps to the Hyatt Regency San Francisco Downtown Soma. What: Santa in Hawaiian shirts, Tiki themed stockings, and colorful lights can be experienced here. All of the holiday themed drinks can be enjoyed in an equally holiday themed mug. The mugs can also be purchased. For collateral, the bartenders will ask for an ID/Drivers License, and will be returned when the mug is returned. How: we all ordered the Sipping Santa, which is a mojito based drinks. Pretty tasty, and though the mug is a bit cheesy, but certainly fits the theme of the season. Thoughts: while the bar itself was a bit crowded, the ambiance was still very festive. I had a good experience here.

Probably because this stylishly hip bar comes from the owners of Pacific Cocktail Haven (review: https://yelp.to/4luiUjAryc), I immediately assumed from the name that this would be a tiki bar. Wishful thinking on my part because I'm a tiki aficionado, but this is actually a craft cocktail bar with global elements applied for inspiration. It's a cool concept in the former Quizno's space. Not only cool but Nathan the bartender is a star. He actually remembered me and my drink order from my first visit over four months ago. Beyond impressive because trust me, I'm not that memorable. The drink was the $18 Banana Stand, an unusually tantalizing elixir. It blended Knob Creek bourbon, fino sherry, coconut-banana, coffee liqueur, and bitters (photo: https://yelp.to/Hjrm2GLuRX). Surprisingly I didn't repeat the order all this time later. Instead I went for a genuinely smooth Espresso Martini. It contained not only vodka and cold brew but also kahlua, kohana kokoleka, and spices (photo: https://yelp.to/Q1NA2zDWGU). It was a chilled treat well worth nursing even as the bar started to crowd. I had a second and final libation, the $18 Boracay Old-Fashioned, a more potent choice with gin, bay leaf, and white vermouth as well as tropical ingredients like pandan, coconut water, and calamansi (photo: https://yelp.to/0MFLuFCFxY). My new favorite. Nathan, too. COCKTAILS - 5 stars...thoughtful creations well blended with unexpected tropical elements albeit pricey AMBIANCE - 4.5 stars...stylish atmosphere with low lighting SERVICE - 5 stars...Nathan is aces with an amazing memory TOTAL - 5 stars...indisputably great spot for creative craft cocktails with global elements RELATED - Exploring Western SoMa? We came to Kona's for their Xmas pop up and really enjoyed the festive atmosphere and holiday drinks. It can get crowded right after work but they have the bar and some tables that are first come first serve as well as reserved tables. Their drinks are on the stronger/sweeter side so keep that in mind if you're not a fan of that.

This cocktail bar had nice vibes and very nice ambiance! The bartender actually serves the drinks directly to our tables and was very knowledgeable on the cocktails from the menu and was attentive in what everyone in my group was feeling that night. The decor of the bar was cool. There was a lot of vintage art from movies and various themes on the walls, arcade games such as a pin ball machine, and even a pool table. In the middle of the wall behind the bar counter was a neon light sign that I'm assuming is the either the logo or mascot of the bar. I got the Golden highball, which had pandan, calpico, oleha, and soda. The fragrance of the pandan was so aromatic that I would wear it as a cologne. The drink wasn't too strong nor sweet. It legit had the perfect balance. Subtle and mellow flavors graced my tongue with every sip.

The photo here was taken from their little loft area, which is actually really cute and a great spot for people watching since you can see the whole bar and crowd from above. One thing I wasn't sure about was the plastic cups. Every time I've gone they've served drinks in plastic cups, but since it's so busy during First Thursdays, I'm not sure if that's their normal setup or just something they do to keep things moving during the event. I ordered a rosé, which was perfectly fine and easy to drink while walking around.

Luckily, my friend had already been to Iron Horse Cocktails, and suggested we go there instead. Walking down the alleyway it is located in was a nice getaway from the otherwise hectic union square atmosphere. Walking in was also a neat experience that felt like we were stepping out of the city into a tiny pub. We also really liked the atmosphere inside and the cozy upper floor that had an interesting mix of old paintings and woodwork, creating an eclectic feel. I got the We've Got the Beet cocktail with mezcal, beet reduction, ginger, fresh citrus, thyme and firewater bitters. I love mezcal's smoky flavors and was drawn to the combination of ginger, citrus and mezcal flavors in the drink. The cocktail was very good and had a nice smokiness from the mezcal, along with the kick from the ginger and zest from the citrus, creating a refreshing and tasty drink. My friend got the About Thyme, with gin, blackberry liquor, black pepper thyme syrup and fresh citrus. We both really liked his drink as well, which had an interesting kick from the black pepper thyme syrup that offset the gin and blackberry liquor nicely. While we only had time to grab a drink each, we were both very happy with the drinks and would definitely come back the next time we're in the area.
