Representing 2023 & 2024 in alphabet series, K is for Komma Tea. I didn't have a K place for 2024 that I hadn't reviewed, but I visited the Komma Tea at Potomac Mills twice. Both times I had 5-star Komma Tea & 5-star Pokerea (see my Pokerea Yelp review from June 12, 2025) in the food court for dinner. Komma Tea is not in the food court, a bit of a walk in this big mall, but worth it! There are a couple of locations, but I went to the one with a bit of an inside area with kiosks for ordering. October 2023: The first time I tried Komma Tea was on Wednesday, October 25, 2023. I had work travel to Caroline County, VA. On the way back I got a movie on my AMC A-List at AMC Potomac Mills, then walked around the mall & debated what I was going to eat for dinner, there was still traffic getting back to MD and would've been 9 before getting home, and looked at the food court and decided to try the Poke place, Pokerea, but went to Komma Tea beforehand. They were efficient as I watched them make the drink. This is the best bubble tea I've had in the DC area, which is funny because Pokerea in the food court was the best Poke I've had in the DC area! In summary, Potomac Mills is great! September 2024: Coincidentally, the other time I visited was a Wednesday too. My girlfriend & I were traveling back from Myrtle Beach, SC on Wednesday, September 4, 2024. We got to the mall in time to eat dinner before the movie we wanted to see with a little bit of time to spare to walk around the mall in addition to simply eating. I told her how great Komma Tea & Pokerea was. Everything was just as great as I remembered, and she thought both were great too. If I'm back down that direction, I'd definitely be back at Komma Tea. read more

Stopped by Komma Tea at Potomac Mills and got the Thai Tea. I actually really liked the drink -- it was made with real tea, not powder, which makes a huge difference. I did 75% sweetness and that was just right for me. I feel like anything more would've been way too sweet. The ordering process is self-serve through a kiosk. You pick your drink, add boba, adjust the sweetness -- the usual. At checkout, it even prompts you to leave a tip, which I thought was a little odd considering there's no real interaction happening at that point. Speaking of interaction... the customer service was seriously lacking by 1000. There was a young lady working when I came in. She clearly saw me standing there at the kiosk, but didn't say a word. I had to speak to her twice before she finally responded, and when she did, she looked at me like I was the problem. Definitely not the warmest experience. The drink came out fast, but a heads up -- it's easy to accidentally skip the boba option on the screen. It's not super obvious, so pay attention if that's a must-have for you. Overall, the drink was good, but don't expect much in the way of customer service. read more

DRINKS We tried their house milk tea with boba, and oddly enough, it tasted almost identical to McDonald's sweet tea. While there was nothing inherently wrong with it, the flavor fell short of what I'd expect from a boba tea shop. It left much to be desired. SERVICE The staff are kind and friendly! AMBIANCE Komma Tea hosts three locations within the outlet. All locations are grab-and-go with little or no options for seating. Stopped here while in the mall the other day. I decided on a pineapple slushy with water it was good I got 100% but I should have got 50% sweet. It was good. They have a lot of options for beverages and if I had not already had coffee I would have tried the coffee one You can use the kiosk or order at the counter. Myself and other customers were waiting for 20 min. Other customers just left. When the employee returned walking very slow in the mall she tried to tell us she was stacking the store, but we clearly saw her walking back to the store. Then she blended everyone orders together. We had to figure out which ones were ours. Very poor customer service read more

I ordered the mango passion fruit tea with popping bubbles and 25% sugar. I love that you can adjust the sweetness. The popping bubbles are sweet so I like to decrease the sugar in the tea. They are also generous with the bubbles. I believe they have multiple locations in the mall. I stopped by the one near TJ Maxx side and the kids play area. Service was good and my tea was made in an appropriate amount of time and accurate. read more

They were located inside the mall which was and is the prime place to be. So when I saw them, I was excited. The service wasn't the best but they were knowledgeable of the flavor combinations. If you never had an experience with boba, give them a try. read more

The other day I got the Oreo smoothie with boba. The boba made the smoothie taste bad, however, I took it all out and loved it. The customer service was spectacular. This hot chick with hot pink bangs was so kind and respectful. She made me the drink and smiled at me twice. Will be coming back later today. 10/10 experience :) read more

Found this spot located inside Potomac mills mall and was a great find! See my ratings below: Ambiance 4/5 - Busy and inside the mall, hard to give it a true ambiance rating as it is enveloped my the ambiance of the mall. Price 3/5 - The macaroons are expensive or at least the smores one we had was around $4-$5 if I remember correctly. It is a tad expensive, but the drink was very refreshing too. Food 4/5 - I wasn't a huge fan of the smores macaroon. It felt a bit chewy and the flavor tasted slightly burnt - which makes sense in a s'mores dish, but I didn't get enough sweetness to balance it out. I got a mojito drink that was refreshing, but I wish the mint in it was muddled more to prevent the bitterness of the mint from seeping into the drink. Otherwise very refreshing and I would try it again. Service 5/5 - Friendly staff and drinks were ready pretty quickly no complaints! read more

Yum! Before leaving the mall, we decided to drop by Komma Tea. This was our first time trying this tea shop. Employees are incredibly friendly, helpful, and patient. Our order was neatly wrapped. Love and appreciate their attention to detail. Super cute tea shop. They offer a variety of teas and macarons. Tried some Milk Teas and Fruit Teas, it was all well prepared. Deep tea flavor and quality ingredients are definitely used. You can taste the difference. Their macarons are delicious, as well. Slightly crisp on the outside and smooth within. Tried this place last week and I don't recommend. This location is located at the Potomac Mills Mall in Woodbridge. There about 3 of these located in the mall. I went on a day the mall wasn't so busy so there was no line and the mall wasn't loud. The boba shop itself is very casual. I ordered a Thai Tea with light ice and a type of sweet cold foam on top. The cold foam tasted delicious. But the Thai Tea was not good at all. It did not taste like traditional Thai Tea. It wasn't sweet at all. Also the ice is crushed so every time I took a sip ice would come through the straw and I would have to chew the ice. Service was whatever. Wasn't bad or great. Overall I don't recommend this place and I won't be coming back. read more

Komma has two locations within Potomac Mills and they offer a variety of boba options. The milk tea was extremely bitter and left a bad aftertaste in my mouth. The person who took my order was not friendly and it was confusing that the image of the drink had the boba pearls in it, but you're supposed to add it separately when placing the order. I wish they had informed me like other boba shops or asked if I wanted to add any toppings instead of rushing through the order. Overall, wouldn't recommend unless you really are craving boba while shopping at the mall. read more

Visited the smaller location in the mall which was a bit dingy under lighting. Tried the thirsty joe which is supoised to be a mixture of lychee, green tea, cucumber, and kiwi. However, the flavor was very overwhelmingly taken over by the cucumber. There was really no hint of lychee at all.. I think the kiwi might have been the green jelly bits at the bottom of the drink but I'm still unsure... definitely would have preferred the drink without it. The boba was a 5/5 though, so I'll give them that. It may just have been the location I went to, because the larger store in the opposite end of the mall had a nice array of macarons, better lighting, and was much busier. Definitely would recommend getting something other than the thirsty joe. read more

Pretty decent drink. Got taro milk form abd passionfruit green tea. Taro was delicious creamy although the foam should be more thick than liquid. Passionfruit was good too. I dont mind swing by get their drink if im thirty. read more

Finally!!!! After repeatedly stalking this location from start to finish, I actually had the time to stop and treat myself!! After asking a few questions and confirming that the milk powder they use for the milk tea has no lactose in it, my decision was made. Coffee milk tea with honey boba was the choice of the day and it didn't disappoint!! The coffee tastes very creamy and smooth with the honey boba added a textured plus! We also got a Strawberry Banana smoothie with strawberry boba and a Pineapple Smoothie with Lychee jelly, both a smooth blended cup of love. My son actually told me about this place in the mall. I was very excited to try it since I have not found a decent bubble tea place in Woodbridge. Ordered a taro milk tea with honey boba and coconut jelly. Asked for light ice, this way you get more drink and I actually like my milk tea cool instead of ice cold. And I like the fact that you can request the sweetness of your drink (same as king fu tea). I asked for 50% sweetness since I don't like super sweet drinks. It was perfect for me! Update: the General Manager, Gustaf was apologetic & quickly made things right by offering us 2 free drinks for my wife & I. He was friendly & kind & more than happy to make things right. Absolute terrible customer service!!! I have a been a loyal customer to this business for years and always order the same thing. This time, I decided to switch it up and try something different for a change. I ordered a matcha green tea from here for the first time just to see if I like it. I literally took just one sip and knew I didn't like the taste. I went back to the cashier and explained that I would like to exchange it for a flavor that I was familiar with. Given that I only took a small sip and the cup was nearly completely full, I thought this wouldn't be an issue. To my utter surprise, I was told that they could not exchange it because I took a sip out of it. HOW IN THE WORLD AM I SUPPOSED TO KNOW IF SOMETHING TASTES GOOD OR NOT WITHOUT TAKING A SIP?? What kind of logic is that?!! In EVERY SINGLE food and beverage place I've ever went to or worked at there is a policy that you can exchange something once if you are not satisfied with it and have only taken a sip from it. I have never heard of any food and beverage place with the policy that Kokee Tea has. Then again, I'm not sure if it is the official policy of the business or if the workers were just too lazy to make me another drink. So, be forewarned, don't go to this place and order a drink without knowing with 100% CERTAINTY that you will like the flavor. I'm surprised that Woodbridge doesn't have bubble tea cafes around, because they're becoming really popular. But if you're at the mall, definitely stop here to grab a drink! The tapioca pearls tastes sweet, which is unique compared to other places I've been to. It stinks that they only have one size!
