Lahore tikka house is Incredible, my family has gone here for years and of course through multiple owners, ever since the son took over it's been better than ever. It's places like this which make me wish yelp didn't factor old reviews. After the death of the original owner, I believe his wife took over the food began to go downhill in both taste and quality, though I can't blame her as it must've been quite rough to handle. I believe it was when the building burned down when the current owner began to run things. The new building is in my opinion better than the previous, great exterior and the interior is well designed while keeping the general vibe of the restaurant. The food is incredible, large servings for a good price and even if you don't like lamb I'd encourage you to get the lamb chops, lamb biryani, and lamb Karahi anyway. Of course, I love all their curries, their lamb is just incredible.

A truly authentic experience-- we could tell by how many South Asian families were there!…read more The butter chicken sauce was so thick that we took our leftovers home and marinated chicken wings in it; this was perfection. Also, it was nice to see an accessible washroom-- a rarity in Toronto! The only thing that I didn't like was that the salty lassi had cumin seeds in it, but that's my fault because I was expecting something more akin to ayran. The star of the show was definitely the chaat papri-- the crispy wafers and the tamarind sauce are my favourite! I'm so glad the waiter recommended this to us. I would love to come back here and eat my way through this menu!

After placing one's order, it takes about 45 minutes for the food to come out, for whatever reason. Even though the restaurant was less than half full. Beef seekh kababs ($12 CAD = $8.55 USD) - This consisted of seasoned ground beef, onions, and aromatic spices. The kababs were juicy and smokey and tasted amazing! Malai boti ($17 CAD = $12.11 USD) - The chicken here was prepared in a rich, creamy marinade with spices and was literally melting in my mouth when I ate it. Chicken tikka boti boneless ($17 CAD = $12.11 USD) - Marinated in traditional Pakistani spices, the chicken had a smoky and savory taste and the spice profile was more intense as compared to the malai boti. I was surprised at how tender this chicken was and the marinade penetrated the meat really well. Bihari kabab ($19 CAD = $13.53 USD) - These kababs were even more tender then the seekh kababs and were falling apart when I picked them up. It has a bolder and smokier flavor then the seekh kababs Naan ($2.50 CAD = $1.78 USD) - The naan here is pillowy soft and large given the price point and perfect with the kababs. Water bottle ($2 CAD = $1.42 USD) - Unfortunately they don't offer complimentary water here. Overall this is some of the best tasting Pakistani food I have had! The grilled items here are incredible!

TLDR version: horrible dining experience, decent tasting food…read more Let me start by saying that the quality of the food here was great, and very tasty. Unfortunately though, there's more to a dining experience than just the taste of the food and that's where this restaurant falls absolutely flat on their face. Horrible dining experience. First off, the waitresses were completely lifeless, mumbled everything, didn't even have the care to look in your direction while speaking, let alone look at you. Asking things like "what's popular here" didn't really yield any response from them either. In addition to that, the wait time of the food was a bit too much. We were one of only two small tables in the restaurant at the time and had to wait 40 minutes for food that usually wouldn't take anywhere near that long. The quantity itself was a bit on the low side as well. And finally to wrap it up, on a hot summer night, it was boiling inside due to their AC not working. So we had to eat our food literally dripping in sweat.

I'm not sure how long they've been there or why I hadn't noticed them before but I'm always up for a good curry so we popped in for dinner. The menu is quite extensive and it took us a while to look over everything. Since this was our first time here, we opted for dishes we were familiar with so we could benchmark them against our favourite Indian restaurant. Our selection consisted of Aloo Gobi Masala, Tandoori Butter Chicken, Malai Lamb Curry, Super Naan, Masala Raita and Basmati Rice. Everything looked and smelled amazing so we were excited to tuck in. First, I have to say, this Aloo Gobi has set the bar higher and is now the benchmark by which all future Aloo Gobi dishes will be compared against. The curry dishes were also amazing. In fairness, ordering butter chicken was safe, but we also wanted to have something we hadn't tried before. You can never go wrong with lamb and the description of the Malai Lamb Curry sounded irresistible... it left me gobsmacked. Are you kidding me? This dish is packed with flavour and the lamb was cooked to perfection. We actually considered packing up the rest of the sauce to bring home. Honestly, it's that good. Definitely a MUST! Absolutely everything from start to finish was delicious. The owner/chef (?) came out for a chat and to regale us with descriptions of other dishes to try next time... and believe me, there will definitely be a next time! Have I just found my new favourite Indian restaurant? I think I might have.

We tried the Amritsari paneer tikka - it's to die for! I really loved the marination on it wanted the flavour ( one of the best I have had in Canada). The staff is really nice, loved the quick service. The place is little on the pricier side but great for special occasions!

I tried Pakistani Burns Road Beef Dhaga Kabab ($16.49) from Karachi Express for the first time…read more According to the restaurant, this specialty originates from Karachi's famous Burns Road food street. The beef is ground with aromatic spices, shaped onto skewers, wrapped with thread (dhaga) and grilled over charcoal. The thread helps hold together the exceptionally soft meat mixture while cooking. After watching videos of how it's made, I appreciated the craftsmanship behind it. The meat is heavily tenderized with papaya and contains a good amount of fat, creating an incredibly soft, juicy texture. Hinestly it was almost too tender and gave an impression similar to rare meat, even though the restaurant notes that it is cooked to Ontario food-safety standards. I also wasn't used to a dish being served with the thread still attached, but it was interesting to learn how to remove it and enjoy the kabab as intended. A fascinating cultural food experience and a style of kabab quite different from what I had tried before.

I had the pleasure of going here for a family dinner, and I'm really glad we chose this place to eat! Dum Pukht is beautiful decorated with a dark ambiance inside. Lots of seating available, would suggest making a reservation ahead of time to ensure you get seated immediately upon arrival as it can be quite busy. The staff were also super kind and explained all the dishes while also providing alternatives too! We ordered several items off the menu because there was a huge selection to choose from! We started with the Crispy Cheese Balls (9/10 Absolutely delicious and crispy), Tibetian Momo's (7/10 was a little too spicy for my liking), and the Chaat (6/10 on the sweeter end but still good). For the main dishes we ordered some Garlic Naan (10/10 probably one of the best naan's ever), Paneer Tikka Masala (9/10 creamy and delicious), Chicken Vindaloo (8/10 spicy and very flavourful) and lastly the Dum Vegetable Biryani (7/10 a lot of vegetables inside). Overall was such a pleasant experience, also their portion sizes are huge so you really don't need to order a lot if you are coming as a small group. I would highly recommend you come check out Dum Pukht in Markham! 9/10 Recommend!

Since it was our first visit, we asked what they would recommend as one of their best menu items and ordered the Seafood Mixed Grill. Unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment for us. The food had very little flavour and we really didn't enjoy it at all. The service also didn't make the experience any better. On top of that, we felt the prices were way too high for the quality and taste of the food. The restaurant was very crowded when we visited, so maybe other dishes are better and other customers may have a different experience. This is simply our personal experience -- we have absolutely nothing against the business or the people working there. For us, unfortunately, it was not worth the money, and we left very disappointed. If you're planning to visit, maybe try it once and decide for yourself, but I would recommend being careful about what you order, especially considering the prices.
