    Chicken karahi
    Ritwika B.

One of the OG Pakistani food spots in Gerrard street area. They have recently renovated the place and we went in on a weekend for dinner. Service was good, we ordered chicken kebab, tandoori chicken, chicken karahi and dal along with garlic naans. Their naans are pretty big in size so we were full by just eating 1 naan. I wasn't a fan of their kebab or tandoori tbh but the chicken karahi stole the show. This was one of the best chicken karahi I've had in any Pakistani restaurant. I'd solely be back just to eat it again lol! Their strawberry mango mocktail was very refreshing if you want to try their drinks. However, their washrooms are really not in a good condition and sanitation needs to be improved.

The food that I have tried is Chicken Biryani and Lamb Chops. The portion of biryani is good enough to full you. The ambience is quiet because most of the crowd that come are families.

If you're craving for chicken tikka, biryani, naan kinda food, and if you have good spice tolerance, this is the place. The ambience is vibrant, traditional dhaba style, gives an authentic touch! We weren't asked for the spice levels, the food was delicious but couldn't handle spice the next day, iykwim :(

Happy that Lahore Tikka House has reopened after the unfortunate fire. Ordered takeout - Chicken kebabs, Lamb Karahi, Till Naans & Roti. Both dishes were delicious with tender meat and flavourful. The breads were baked just right and love their idea of putting a circular cardboard support underneath the round breads .... They travel well and are not folded over. Staff are courteous, professional and with welcoming smiles.

I wanted to love this place because I was craving Indian or Pakistani food. Unfortunately, I found the food too spicy and I ended up not fully enjoying my meal. Service was okay. Our waiter was slow. The other waiters were fine. I thought the channe were just okay- solid 7/10. Biryani in general is spicy but I felt this was over the top- 5/10 The chicken tikka was delicious - 10/10 Naan was way too crispy for my taste - 7/10 Gil gappe was amazing - 12/10 star of the show They don't have mango lassi, only mango shake, was slightly irritated by that because they had salty lassi. Too bad they were even out of the salty lassi.

The food here is very flavourful, and got a kick of spice. Not featured on the photos, we also got a small veggie plate, which was super delicious. The only reason I bumped a start down was due to our waiter. He dropped waters spilling all over the table. We also ordered ribs and got lamb instead, which was fine. It still tasted good, but a little spicy for my mild tastes. He also forgot to bring out a second order of rice and garlic naan for the group of friends we were with. Despite all of this, the food tasted great. The portions are pretty big! On top of the food you already ordered, they come around with complimentary shishito peppers should you want some. For families with strollers: there's a giant sign at the entry which says you are not allowed strollers by your seat.

Mixed Tikka Platter.... Chicken wasn't fully cooked

About 10 years ago, my family dined at Lahore Tikka on our Toronto trip. The kebabs were to die for and we had to visit again on our trip this time, but all we were served was disappointment. The service was extremely bad - the waiters were rude, it took them forever to serve us water and refill, and it was pretty slow for a fairly empty restaurant. As for the food, I recall really liking their kebabs but they didn't live up to the quality I remember. We ordered the Mixed Tikka plate and the chicken wasn't even fully cooked... they refused to believe us after we told them and it took them a while to finally consider giving us a new platter. We also ordered the Butter Chicken and Paneer Tikka Masala, and the sauce for both were very lemony and tart which is unusual for both of these dishes. It has been a while since we last visited so maybe management has changed because the quality of this restaurant is no longer the same. We definitely will not be going back here on any of our future Toronto trips.

Naans and Butter Chicken. Must have!! The taste is so incredibly out of this world!

Came to visit my brother-in-law here in Toronto, Canada. We ate at Lahore Tikka House. This restaurant is not like your typical restaurant. The decor is plain and simple. However, it makes it feel very casual. I love that! My first time eating Pakistani cuisine. It was incredible!! At the end of dinner, I was so stuffed I can't move! Lol the staff were so friendly!! The atmosphere was great!! The place is packed with people. I would definitely like to come back!

We tried their Gol Gappe (pic 1) which is a snack that is a fried puff that you fill with a mixture of potatoes and chickpeas and spices. These are super tasty and the kids had fun eating the puff balls. The mains were the Chicken Biryani which we've had several times before. It was actually one of the better versions we had, packed with chicken. The other was their Karahi Lamb (Curry) and doesn't look appealing but it was the sleeper hit. I love Lamb Curry in general but this was was really good y'all. The meat pieces were super tender and the dish was really tasty. Totally recommend. We also pigged out on Naan and Gulab Jamun. Overall we've had pleasant experiences here but it's like a treat coming here because it's more on the expensive side.

What comes to mind when you think about Pakistani food? You might assume that it's pretty much the same as Indian food. Although there are certainly some similarities, I tend to describe it as more of an Indian/Middle Eastern hybrid, as you'll see influences from both cultures in Pakistani cuisine. Knowing that Pakistan is sandwiched between Iran, Afghanistan, and India tends to make all of the food pieces fall into place. And the best place to try it in Toronto? Lahore Tikka House in the Little India part of Leslieville is the undisputed choice. You Gotta Eat Here! featured them in their fourth season and blogTO has listed them as the #1 Best Pakistani Restaurant in the city. I visited on a Sunday evening and certainly the first thing that caught my attention is how massive their property is. The two storey building is huge, plus they have their own parking lot and an entire tented patio area. You cannot miss it. I love all of the motorized rickshaws that they have parked out front which really adds to the authentic and fun vibe of the place. It was a hot summer's day and we were seated on the patio. As such, I didn't see much of the inside of the restaurant but from what I understand, they have dining areas on both levels. The colours on the walls are jewel-toned and there are several beautiful murals decorating the space as well. The patio outside is draped in lovely sari-like materials. The restaurant feels nothing short of palatial. The menu is quite extensive and our friendly server was happy to help answer our questions. I was excited to try the special Kashmiri Chai that they make but was unfortunately informed that they didn't have any. Nor their plain chai. This was disappointing because a beautiful chai done properly is one of my favourite drinks. One of the first things that happened is a sword was brought around with flame-blistered green peppers skewered onto it. I wrongly assumed that these would be similar to shishitos... Instead these peppers were very, very spicy. I managed a few bites and couldn't continue! However, I loved this special touch. There is a cute part of the menu that serves up Lahori Street Food and I really liked the idea of this! Unfortunately, we had so many other dishes to order that we couldn't get anything from this section but I would love to on a future visit. Two sauces were delivered to our table; one hot sauce that tasted like it was based in tamarind and a cool yogurt sauce that was seasoned with warm spices. These were both delicious and perfect accompaniments to every other dish of the evening. First to arrive was our Butter Chicken (Boneless, red creamy sauce - $16.99) from the Karahi / Curries part of the menu. A karahi incorporates onions, garlic, ginger, chillies, tomatoes and garam masala spices. I was hesitant to order this because it seemed like such a "safe" and "typical" choice. But on the other hand, butter chicken is delicious so... Here we are. This dish arrived firey hot and spitting molten lava. The pieces of chicken were large and tender, truly bathed in sauce. The curry sauce was quite thick, which I liked, and it had a certain tang to it that I found to be enjoyable and unique. Probably not the best butter chicken that I've ever had but still a very good version. Of course we also visited the Tandoori Naans section of the menu because it would be wrong not to! This flat leavened flour bread is baked in a tandoor, a cylindrical clay oven. I could see the cook making it exactly this way through the window. Plain Naan ($2.89 each) seemed like the right choice because I didn't want any other flavours crowding out the other dishes. Although they do offer seven different types. At first we tried to order three of these but our server smartly advised that only two would be plenty. She was right! We could barely finish two because they were so large. Naan is used as a utensil and the diner rips pieces of bread off and uses it to pick up and eat the food on their plate. This version was very simple and uniform - maybe even a bit too perfect. I tend to prefer a less refined shape and a bit more chew to my naan but at the end of the day you can't go wrong with bread. Next up: Seekh Kababs, the restaurant's specialty. Known for its spice, we chose one Beef and one Chicken (Minced meat infused with coriander, ginger & garlic. Grilled on a traditional clay oven and served on a sizzling platter - $4.29 each). These certainly did arrive to our table sizzling profusely! I could tell that the meat had been formed onto a skewer, expertly crafted, and then cooked. Each kabab was extremely flavourful and bursting with delicious spice. Both types of meat were very good and I liked that we tried both for a bit of variety. This is the kind of item that you just get because you're going to want it. We needed rice (curries are always best eaten over rice) and I was finding our meal order to be a bit chicken-heavy. Our server suggested looking to the Biryani sectio

The ordering process at this location couldn't be easier: you enter what you want at the kiosk, pay, and then wait. It only took a few minutes before my sandwich was ready. And it's a good sandwich. Those Korean flavors really shine through, and that coleslaw cuts the heavy sauce quite nicely. The chicken itself was on the extremely dry side but otherwise I really enjoyed this concoction. Opening Special ($6.99) x 2. For the BYOP, they didn't warn me it was medium spicy. I can handle it with a cold drink! The shrimp and penne were perfectly cooked. I loved the rose sauce. My choices of broccoli,  black olives, and mushrooms worked well together and with the base. The Opening Special was delicious; the Mac n Cheese part and BBQ Chicken were really good! Unfortunately, the BBQ was mildly spicy, and my son didn't like it; more for me! The customer service was good. It took them a long time to prepare the food (there were many orders prior to mine). But it was opening day, so hopefully, they will speed up their cooking. There is no free WiFi. The food stall is wheelchair accessible, but there is no door-open button. Similarly while I would not consider this quite a fusion restaurant, the food was indeed delicious! Most of the rice sides, had furikake sprinkled on top which always enhances the flavor. The sushi selection was good! The top items for me were the cod and lobster/shrimp udon. Again neither were quite executed as fusion (IMO) but nonetheless it was delicious! The steak was also good, but steak is more readily available on most menus elsewhere. The potato and egg salad as an app also made the top list. It was super creamy and paired nicely with the crunchy chips! The endless drink menu/option is also excellent, except I am not sure how much alcohol was actually in there because within the group of 13 people, most of us did not feel even slightly tipsy. The ambiance is beautiful and really embraces a jungle with vibrant colors intertwined into the interior. the bathroom however, is a different story as it is at the end of a very dark hallway. Not sure if they turn the lights on at night, but for someone with poor vision, it was hard to see as the light reflected off the walls. The servers were friendly and with a large group like ours, we did have some dishes that just never made it out so we did need to flag someone down for them about an hour or so in.

My friend and I were seated near the bar area, so instead of regular dining chairs, we had those lower, wider lounge-style seats. It made the whole experience feel a bit more relaxed while still fitting the upscale ambiance. We decided to go all out and order a variety of dishes so we could really experience what the restaurant had to offer. To start, my friend ordered the El Camino while I went with the Chicha Sagrada. Mine came with a toasted marshmallow on a skewer, which was such a fun touch. The drink itself was lightly sweet with a cinnamon flavour that kind of reminded me of cinnamon heart candies, but not overly spicy at all, super easy to sip between bites and conversation. For food, we started with the Yasai Miso Crispy Sushi. The crispy rice gives it such a satisfying crunch in every bite, and the veggie topping ties everything together nicely. Definitely one of those dishes you keep reaching for. The Yellowtail "Nikkei Sashimi" was fresh and evenly cut, and the yuzu soy sauce gave each bite a bright, citrusy finish. I was expecting a bit more truffle flavour, but the citrus really stood out instead and made the dish super refreshing. We also got the Dragon Roll. It looked fairly simple, but sometimes simple really works. The unagi sauce was drizzled around the plate as decoration, but once you dip the roll in, it brings everything together really well. The shrimp tempura inside was fried perfectly... still had a nice bite and wasn't mushy at all. The Pulled Asado Beef Taco was a standout for me. Super crunchy shell, really tender beef, and that slightly sweet creamy sauce with pickled veggies on top just worked so well together. We also shared the Chicken Sliders and Wagyu Sliders. The chicken was juicy and tender, but the bottom bun got quite soft from the sauce, making it a bit messy and harder to hold. Still tasty, just not the best texture. The Wagyu sliders, on the other hand, were easily our favourite of the night... super juicy beef, truffle coming through in every bite, and overall rich without feeling heavy. Overall, a really solid experience. The ambience alone makes it feel like a special night out, but the food holds up too, especially if you're into sharing plates and trying a bit of everything. It's definitely on the pricier side, but it feels worth it for the full experience.
