It's nice having a boba option while shopping. Decided to give Kokee Tea a try. They advertise as having all natural cane sugar in their teas and natural ingredients. They offer a variety of milk teas, matcha, fruit teas, ice blends, and cold brew mixes. We got the coffee milk tea, brown sugar cold brew, and the honey milk tea. All our drinks tasted watered down---I would describe it as drinking milk & water. Barely tasted any coffee or tea. Couldn't finish my drink. Will have to give them another chance with other drinks (maybe), but for now Kokee Tea did not satisfy my boba craving. Pretty disappointed. read more

I'm Cuckoo for Kokee Tea! That very well might have been the worst way to start a review of Kokee Tea lol, but after consuming a rather disappointing pretzel from nearby Wetzel's Pretzels, I needed something cold to battle this South Texas heat. Enter Sonny! No, I mean Kokee Tea! lol Just like Wetzel's Pretzels, Kokee Tea is situated in a small little shack in the middle of the walkways at The Shops at La Cantera. On the exterior, there are photos of their menu offerings ranging from milk teas to ice blended drinks. For the ice blended drinks, they offer slushies, which are water-based, and smoothies, which are milk-based. There's usually a line here, but the service is pretty fast. Even in the midst of a heat wave, don't let the long line deter you, or better yet, save the cold drink when you pass by the boba shop another time. While you can see the menu offerings outside, they don't list prices. In fact, you can't see the prices until you walk up to the order counter, and even so, I actually couldn't even find the smoothies section of the menu, so for a few seconds, I almost thought that the smoothies I initially saw were no longer offered. I asked the cashier (Maddox?) about it, and he confirmed they still offer those drinks. They were just in the ice-blended section, and the word "smoothie" had a pretty small font size. Hopefully, they will listen to my suggestions on how to better improve the look of their menu, both inside and outside. I had my eyes set on the Oreo Smoothie only because earlier this year, when I was back home in SoCal, I was in a really bad mood one day. I went to a boba shop and ordered a cookies & cream smoothie with crystal boba. The smoothie instantly made my day and gave me enough energy to power through the day sans catnap. I ordered pretty much the exact same smoothie, crystal boba included. After paying, the receipt had my order number on top, so there was no need for buzzers. It took a couple of minutes before my order number was called out, and the bobarista handed me my drink. I had to grab a boba straw on the counter before enjoying the smoothie. The smoothie was cold and tasty. However, the flavor didn't come out as strong compared to the one I had in SoCal. I literally inhaled it, but not necessarily because I enjoyed it that much. Rather, I was trying to cool myself off after walking around the outdoor shopping center for quite some time. I was hoping to get the flavor rush that my taste buds desired, but it never happened, unfortunately. That's not to say the smoothie was bad. It was good, but definitely not 5 star good by any means. At least the crystal boba was QQ, but it wouldn't be enough to bump my rating up to 5 stars. First time visit! In a word... ugh. I was drawn to this little shack because there was a long line and I was craving an after-meal milk tea boba drink. Have never heard of the place before, but must be real popular for good reason! So there is justtNone register going and maybe 3 girls total working on drinks. They're a mess. The orders are slow in being taken because the cashier is also helping prepare drinks. She is very unprofessional, no smile, no greeting, no eye contact. If you need an ago boost, acknowledgment that you are alive, forget about it. LOL! The order are coming out slowly and in the wrong order. How do you go from Number 18 to Number 13, then back up again??? Smh. My Kokee Milk Tea was thin, could've been made with skim milk for all I know, and waaaaay too sweet. I'd like to consider myself a tea connoisseur of the milkier persuasion and this place was a disappointment. Some other observations: one size of drink only, no food that I could see, the straws are hell to remove from their plastic sleeves and the most popular drink is the Purple Love. horrible time at kokee tea . I am usually a regular paying customer and this time around a worker handing drinks in the back was not wearing a mask. Seems really disrespectful to other customers who may not realize someone who may not be vaccinated is making their drinks. Even with a big sign posted saying " mask required " it seems not even the workers can follow this simple rule during covid times. On top of not wearing masks, drinks were not called out to customers and instead were left sitting on counter where they became watered down. I waited a good 25 mins in the rain only to leave disappointed with a mediocre drink. Not worth the wait or $15 spent. Getting refund was also a hastle . When it came time to order, I was greeted by a cashier who had little knowledge of the drinks. They didn't have any of the flavors I wanted so I settled on just a coffee with boba. Then I ordered 2 more drinks: 1 Strawberry ice blended slush that the cashier told me they didn't have, but then after I was ordering a different drink, changed her mind because she got confused about the boba type. They were actually out of the strawberry boba, not drink. So I ordered that with honey dew boba and she asked me if I'd like it to be a slush or smoothie, I said slush. Then I ordered 1 Oreo ice blended smoothie with no boba and she asked the same question, slush or smoothie, I said smoothie. They both came out as slushees. This is one of my favorite boba tea places! I don't understand how it has a few bad reviews... the employees are nice and helpful, they answered any questions I had! Some people complain about them running out of the tapioca pearls but they have so many other options on their menu, popping boba and jellies! And I read that someone complained about "the straws [being] hell to remove from their plastic sleeves." I mean that is not their fault... it's not that hard; about there not being any food... it's called Kokee TEA, ridiculous! Others say the teas are "too sweet" that's why we have the choice to adjust the sweetness in our drinks people! Everyone should make sure to really look at the menu and ask questions! The service is good and the teas are delicious. The only thing I'm concerned about is the environment that their employees have to work in. I went today and of course it's very hot outside. The air conditioner was not working properly and you could tell that the two girls were extremely hot inside that tiny building. The sun shines directly into the window where they stand, making it very hot in there. The employees were working very hard to complete orders, even though they were hot, but the ac needs to be fixed for them.
