I wish I lived closer! Came here on a recommendation from a friend and I'm upset it took me so long to come check this place out. We shared a beef bun and a tuna pizza and each had a ramen. The bun and the pizza were awesome. Hit the spot in every way and it was so good, we almost ordered another order of both. For our entrees, we each got a ramen and it was good, but not the best. It wasn't as flavorful as I hoped or what I'm used to, but I've yet to find ramen in Long Island that is as good as what you can find in the City. Regardless, our appetizers were so good that I knew the potential of Koi Kokoro. While I don't recommend the ramen, I highly recommend ordering a ton of appetizers and making that your meal. I just moved to the area from Nassau county. A little distraught to leave behind take out gems I had found in my area that always comforted me like a binky. I go on DoorDash not expecting much and this place pops up. I read reviews. I get excited. I order the ramen. Veggies are seared.. broth is creamy and delicious. Shrimp tempura crispy AF! I cannot wait to try more!!!! This will be a regular go-to spot for me I already realize and feel so glorious about it. That sushi bomb thing is calling my name. We planned to eat in but not a sit down restaurant like the picture show. There's no tables at all.3 person bar facing a wall.

Ever since I had my first taste of steamed buns I've been hoping a place closer to me would open up. Although this is not exactly close to me it's not 30 miles away either. They have a vast menu which sometimes concerns me when it comes to freshness of food. I also liked the fact that they have what they call a sushi flight. Meaning you can try 2 specialty rolls in one roll & you pay half price for both rolls. There's even a choice of white, brown or purple rice. Cool! I came for the Buns. The pork belly Bun to be specific. Very good indeed! Then I decided to try the karaage chicken with rice. Crispy & Juicy served with siracha aioli. Nice dish for $6 bucks. I also ordered 2pcs of Ikura Sushi & why large menus concern me. The pieces were loose, nori coming apart & the Ikura was cloudy & not the bright briny taste it should be. Hidden jam on Long Island for Japanese ramen!!!! I was so surprised and happy to find here so I don't have to travel so far to the city for good ramen. The food didn't disappoint at all. My boyfriend who ordered the miso broth ramen was not so impressed with his for some reason. He said he's had better. Bulgogi jalapeño bun was recommended by our waiter. Although they were on the sweet side, I personally enjoyed them. There were A LoT of meat for the buck. Once again, my boyfriend who just learned how to make bulgogi wasn't super impressed because he says he can make it at home. :/ Overall, the food was simple yet satisfied my cravings. This is my go-to sushi place in Suffolk! I've had pleasant experiences with dine-in and takeout from Koi Kokoro. Despite not having any happy hour specials, I find their food to still be very affordable with an abundant selection. Based off of previous reviews, I ordered the bulgogi & jalapeno bun ($8) and the kaarage bun ($7). Their bulgogi was a little too saucy for me but their kaarage/fried chicken was so crispy! Normally for takeout, I order their party platters which is such a bargain. A platter with 4 specialty rolls and 5 regular rolls came out to be $76 with tax. My favorites for regular rolls are the soft shell crab tempura, shrimp tempura, and the tuna belly + scallion. As for speciality rolls, Miru Mountain comes with a huge topping of crab salad! If you can't decide on what rolls to order, their menu even comes with pictures of each roll to give you a preview. But you can't go wrong with anything here! read more

I've been going to Koi for many years since it's opened and have always loved it. However my recent visit was the best I've ever had from the restaurant and I was shocked I didn't have a review. You won't find a better and truly kinder staff anywhere. They add new wings, which have always been good, but trust me and get them asap. The prices here have always been good, best in that town in my opinion. After Covid the restaurants stop being a sit down place and become a take out one, however they still have a few spot that are almost always available for any customer to sit. The ambiance has always been great, they have drawings from customers that they put on the wall. A great sense of community in that way. And the food, everything I've had there has been delicious. Tofu bun, wings, yaki soba noodles, ribs, cooked sushi, edamame, gyoza, ramen, and yutari bowls. I love it here! This was actually the first place I discovered (in close proximity) that served ramen. Usually I have to get it in NYC. Since, there have been many more ramen spots but Koi is still a fan fav of mine. The atmosphere give off a vibe like you are indeed in NYC which I love. Ordered takeout from Koi Kokoro on Main St tonight and had a great experience! I've eaten there before, but first time getting takeout since quarantine. The restaurant is spotless, and they line up the orders ready for pick-up. The manager asked me to wait in my car since I was there early, and he would call me when my order was ready. Solid spot for Ramen. I may not have been their biggest sushi fan but their ramen keeps me coming back. I've yet to try the miso broth but their house special is really done well. I've been sticking with pork belly. The only thing missing is the fire, just ask for some togarashi. Service was great and portions were huge. Not much else you can ask for. read more

Ok,to start,almost received 2-3 stars. Walked on through the back door and was in the kitchen..them I realized there's absolutely no seating. It took alot of strength to stay and order. I was told by a wise man that when ever you go to any sushi restaurant order the uni (sea urchin) if it's fishy or smells the place is no good. It was on the menu but they had none. I ordered a good amount of food. Sushimi, rolls,seaweed salad, soup...you get the picture. Started with the sashimi. All the fish I was served was incredibly clean and tasted great. The smoked eel melted in my mouth with no bones. Thumbs up.. miso soup is miso soup..all tastes the same to me. Same with the seaweed salad. I was alittle disappointed with the quantity. It looked like alot and found that white shredded radish or what ever it is piled high underneath. The maguro trio was the same roll prepared alittle different. It was great though. Nice and creamy,held together we'll. Good taste. The Aoi sea roll. Had about 3 or 4 different fish in it wrapped in a pink soy paper and rice. Topped with wasabi sauce,roe and jalapenos. Another great roll. I would recommend them both. I walked out stuffed which is great. At first I didn't want to like this place because they took over the beloved space that was Poppy's for many years. It's a small space,so I don't love eating in here, but their Sushi is fantastic. I am a novice in this cuisine, so I try something new every time, an so far so good. I've had the Bon Bomb Kokomo party so we could try different varieties. All were good. So far my favorite specialty rolls have been Osaka roll and the Aka Lady. Always very busy. When using Grub Hub , the order usually comes before anticipated. read more

INCREDIBLE. This place is near our office, so we often order delivery. Delivery is always very fast and very accurate. We get multiple times a week for my office. I've NEVER had fresher sushi. No fishy, weird taste on anything they offer. I went into the restaurant for the first time to celebrate my sister's birthday, with a party of about 8. The restaurant was extremely accommodating to our large party, and made us feel right at home. We had multiple waiters who often appeared to make sure everything was good. Drinks were always replaced before empty, and the food is always top notch fresh. They had happy birthday play for my sister over the stereo system, let us bring in an outside cake, and had the entire kitchen and wait staff come out to sing. Koi Kokoro is fantastic. We order in at least once a week and stop in whenever we can! The restaurant is pretty small and feels comfy. Pretty big sake selection, and offers beer but no hard liquor. The Yutari bowls are interesting and quite good. For around $15 you can get sushi grade fish, a rice or salad base, avocado, seaweed salad, crab salad, and some crunchies. I think they could've come up with something to replace the crunchies but this is still my favorite thing on the menu! The bon bombs are a play on classic sushi, and they're fun and tasty. The buns are really good too! I'm hoping for a larger beer selection and for them to offer Toro, but if you're anywhere close to Bay Shore this is the spot! Update: Just came back from a short trip and glad to see Koi Kokoro has remained top notch. Came in for a lunch special, was served quickly and with a smile from their morning crew. I had the spider and volcano rolls. Both were excellent. The rice was fresh, the bake was perfect, and there were extra little chunks of crab meat throughout. The service was excellent and they had me in and out quickly as I was eating alone. If you are in islip, I'd highly recommend giving them a try. read more
