Kim looked at my hair, made tips on coloring, and helped me decide based on how it will look now, as well as telling me how each will fade in a few months, as I am not always able to get to the salon. It's a friendly atmosphere, and they offer you coffee or tea while you wait or while you get your hair done. The store is a bit hard to spot but worth the search! I called about a week ago and left a voicemail to see if I could go back to blonde and get a trim after almost a year without professional styling since COVID started. Mattea texted me earlier this week saying she had a cancellation today, Friday, so I took the day off, and was so looking forward to getting my hair back to a more manageable state after so long. I drove to the salon this morning, waited 30 minutes for her to show up, and finally texted her asking if I had the right day and time. She replied saying that she'd forgotten to put me on the books. I get it, we all have stress especially right now. I'm a reasonable person, and I can usually sympathize, but despite excuses, this one just didn't make me want to sympathize at all. It felt highly unprofessional, especially considering I would have been a new client. She didn't even offer to reschedule. Wow. Coco is an amazing stylist. She is as top of the line as they come. Coco first looked through my hair, discussed with me what I wanted in a haircut and then began to measure my face. This was by far the best haircut I have ever received. The next day, I went to class and literally everyone said they loved my hair. Wow! For the first time in my life, I got the haircut I wanted! Coco is so great. She is so great at analyzing face shape and head contours to sculpt a perfect cut. I drive from Seattle to get my hair cut and coloured by Kim. The environment at Koi is hip, cosy, non-judgemental, positive and welcoming. Koi is situated right downtown in Spokane, and shares a space with the super cute Lolo boutique. It's clean, they always play good jams and the space has a good vibe. They also let me bring my dog in after the long drive ;) Koi is close to Vino, a wine shoppe where you can purchase a bottle to bring in and sip while the stylists work their magic. The products used at Koi are luxurious and high quality. I use Davines and Keune. I could get them in Seattle, but I prefer to support the folks at Koi and purchase them there. Kim cut 8" off my hair and gave me a super chic haircut that is versatile and works well with my look and busy lifestyle. I never feel rushed at Koi. Kim patiently looks through multiple fotos I bring her and then explains what will work for my hair, checking in with me every step of the way. She's a wizard with colour. Because I live far away, she also gives me loads of tips for keeping my mane looking sharp until I can come back. I am very happy with how my hair turns out, which is why I make the commute. She's receptive to feedback and if I ask for a bit more off here or a bit softer there or.... she works her magic. I especially appreciate how she continues to grow as a stylist. She's always sharing with me, the new techniques she learned at recent workshops. I also appreciate the friendliness of the other stylists. While I see Kim, the other folks there make it a point to say hello and ask if I need anything or to make a great suggestion for where to drink and dine locally. The conversation is stimulating and positive as well; I appreciate their professionalism and down to earth attitudes, I truly love this! Best salon!! I've been coming to this salon for about 8 years now I've travelled from Pullman , Seattle and now tri cities to get my hair did from Kim .. And my eye brows waxed from Maureen. I cannot express how awesome this place is.. Kim is super professional she cares about the well being of your hair (keeping it healthy ) and she's great to ask questions and advice about maintaining great hair. These ladies have become friends I look forward to coming in and not only having my hair done but visiting and laughing.
