This salon is all right - inconsistent results. Getting a hair color and they got dye all over my face. What is most upsetting is that I called to reschedule an appointment. I just checked my credit card and they had charged $82.50 to my account. I was not notified when I called that I would be charged. I called immediately to get it rectified, only to be told that "Dave had to call me back" - within a "couple of days". I said that I had never consented to having me credit card on file. They said that, if I had ever made an appointment on line, it was on file. UPDATE: Dave just called, and was rude from the outset. He said that since I didn't give enough notice, I was charged. He was so rude and arrogant I just hung up on him. There is no notice about this fee - $82.50 folks. Lots of turnover. read more

I went in for a consultation with Tiffany on 7/10 for a cut and color. I communicated that I have been experiencing a lot of breakage and damage after months of stress and a bad color experience 6 months ago. She asked my hair goal, which was to blend out my haircut into layers to hide the breakage and go for a light natural red. Exact words were "Nicole Kidman in practical magic". Tiffany told me that we could get to the light red over time but we'd start with a nice auburn. When I went back for my appt on 7/24, it was clear that my consultation was a waste of time. As you can see, my hair is deep brown and only shows a tint of red in direct sunlight. I hoped the color would wash out as vivid as it was applied but it did not, so I hoped the cut would save it. She barely took anything off before she started blowdrying it. I know some stylists like to cut more on dry hair so I let her blow dry it without saying anything and then when she finished and started taking my cape off I didn't know what to do. I could barely see the haircut because she added so much product and hairspray that my hair felt extremely sticky and crunchy. I couldn't run my fingers through my hair if I tried. I immediately went home to wash and try to restyle it. That's where I really saw that my hair had no layers and was just as uneven with breakage as before. This was pretty much the opposite of what I asked for and I was charged over $200. On top of that, instead of handing me off to a receptionist, she checked me out herself and asked if I was going to tip (but that I "didn't have to"). I of course tipped because 1. it's my hope that Tiffany did not intend to do the opposite of what I asked for but I also noticed that she did not try to reschedule me for any cut or color in the future and 2. She was checking me out herself. At no point did she ask if I was happy with the service or check in with me about my hair goals. I called the salon a couple hours after my appointment to try to see what could be done and was told someone would call me back. I got a call while I was at work and have called back 3x to try and resolve this and reached their voicemail. I had inspo pics - not that she asked for any and I didn't want to offend her by showing her when she didn't ask. If she was not comfortable working with damaged hair, I wish she would have communicated that to me or told me her limits. I am not interested in coming in again anytime in the future or trying to obtain reimbursement. It has been made clear through multiple other reviews and word of mouth that this is not a salon that is interested in conducting good business (despite the price) or creating a space where clients feel free to communicate openly. A lot of people have trouble advocating for themselves in the moment and it's important to check in with your clients multiple times to make sure things are on track. We are not hairdressers or stylists. We do not know what you are or are not capable of unless you explicitly state it. And if your clients aren't specific enough? Ask clarifying questions instead of assuming. There's no need for such ego when you're accepting money to complete a service. read more

Got my hair done just in time for the summer! I am still trying to get rid of my orange/brassy hair and it's still so hard because I have naturally thick, dark Asian hair. Making appointment with Candace was no problem. Still struggled with parking though since my hair took almost 4 hours and those meters only allow 2 hours max with the phone app. So make sure to bring coins or borrow at Lavish-- they will just charge you on your bill at the end. Since I had a few friends asking for a hair salon in Spokane and their price, I decided I would share with everyone on here. Price Break Down: Balayage by Candace: $130 Toner: $15 Each extra bowl of bleach add on: $10 / bowl I ended up spending $190 bucks without a haircut. After having long hair for many years, I decided this summer was time for a change. I nervously met with Candace and explained my needs, my concerns, and my hopes. She listened thoughtfully and made sure that I was ready for such a substantial change. (I cut off probably 10 inches?) Candace is certainly a pro, and she gave me a fabulous haircut. My hair looks healthy and chic, and the cut is modern and professional. She has a great attitude, and she strikes that amazing balance of chatting but also letting you just sit and veg. (Because sometimes a hair appointment is a rare time when you can just sit and not have to do anything else.) I already booked my cut follow up with her. I should also add that I was really pleasantly surprised by how affordable my haircut was. When i left the salon i was happy... I went in for a haircut and Katherine was very nice and listened to what i wanted. She ended up cutting off a bit more than i wanted but it was fine until i got home and took a shower and saw it unstyled. Its completely lopsided and uneven and the bangs she cut were supposed to fade into my hair but they don't, they're very blunt. Sad because this salon seemed so nice! The one "investment" I regret this year. After hours in this salon, and $250 later, my hair came out looking worse than it did when I came in. And I waited months for this appointment. My hair is black, I wanted ombré to start the process of going lighter. They used foils and lightened my roots rather than my ends so it faded from lightish brown to black for my finishing out-the-door look. Absolutely horrible and not cute in anyway, my roots simply looked over grown and my hair still black. Do not go here if you're looking to go lighter from your dark hair. They'll make you sign a contract in case it doesn't turn out the way you want (it won't) so they can steal your money and send you out in the world looking like an a**hole. :) read more

First, the salon is beautiful. The space is modern and bright. The interior of the salon is more akin to a salon you'd see in a larger city and it's a gorgeous spot to spend an afternoon. Second, I scheduled a cut and color with Candace. She was wonderful and gave me realistic feedback on my hair goals. I have long, thick hair so coloring and cutting is no quick task, but I appreciated that Candace took her time. It really paid off, I'm happier with my hair than I've been in awhile. I told her I was looking for a subtle balayage and a trim. She explained the process and what tone the highlights would lift to. Due to the amount of hair I have the process took 3.5 hours, but it was stress-free since Candace told me what was going on. I showed her a pic of the cut and style I wanted at the beginning of the appointment. Three-and-a-half hours later, she remembers and doesn't even have to ask. Perfect blow-out. Perfect color. Perfect cut. Thank you Candace! Third, scheduling is a breeze. The salon is closed on Mondays, but they are always good about getting you in. My friend referred me to this salon and her stylist Samantha always does a great job. They also use nice products including Living Proof, Davines, and Goldwell. She is incredibly talented and her skills are diverse--she genuinely listens to your needs and goes above and beyond to ensure she meets them. What is unique about Casi is that I have finally found a hair stylist in Spokane who knows how to treat/process ASIAN HAIR! Since moving here in 2015, I have gone through 5 stylists before her...so THANK YOU! I have recognized her hard work not only with me, but with all of her clients. I have sat in her chair numerous times where she's multi-tasking and working with other clients while I wait to process...(gosh please try not burn yourself out too quickly, Casi, if you're reading this!). I know that she takes careful consideration and will not rush through her appointments...that shows dedication and effort to deliver quality work EACH & EVERY time. I will admit I have referred many of my friends to Casi :) Finally, I have also gained a friend through this process--someone who I can comfortably share my life with. If I could give zero or negative stars, I would. I have gone to this salon before and felt like the service was great, but after the phone call my mom had with the owner I will never be going back. My mom received a very bad hair dye service, so bad that when I called them the other hairdresser in the salon agreed my moms hair dye service was not good. They offered a free service to fix her hair (something we did not request, the free service was offered and brought up by them). Later in the day the owner called my mom and she was very rude, claiming my mom was taking advantage of her business and that she knew what she was doing and was stealing from them. All current and new customers should keep this in mind, if you ever have a situation where you don't like your service the owner of this business will not try to find a solution but instead call you and verbally accost you, tell you that you are trying to steal from them and manipulate the situation. Again, we did ask for a free service, it was offered to us by the stylist. I really feel bad for the hairdressers working under that style of management because it is really not their fault their employer is absolutely unprofessional. Also based on prior reviews and the responses given to these reviews, you can see the salons owner is very rude and unprofessional. DO NOT GO TO THIS SALON. read more

This is very painful for me to post because since I started going here in 2017 I have LOVED Lavish.. but yesterday I was completely HUSTLED and it hurt that they can treat their clients this way after I've been so loyal.. I have got the same services for over a year now and have been charged between $185-$200 which is already very pricey for a highlight tough up, toner and hair cut. But I've always loved my hair so I dealt with it. Yesterday I once again had the exact same service done I had a few months prior and they charged me $260!!! I was in shock at the register and could barely speak. I get rising prices each year but this was just absurd to me.. I'm sad that I won't be calling Lavish my hair salon any longer after such an awesome journey. We live in Spokane for crying out loud not LA! My hair does look great but I have so many friends who get a full foil and cut and get super blonde, who have way longer hair then me and get charged $190 at Urbanna. I have been seeing the same girl for my hair for about 12 years but she is pursuing a different career now so i had to look elsewhere. I am very timid with hair stylists because I've had not so great experiences I ended up being seen by Candace here at lavish salon and she was so friendly and listened to my worries. She was really careful not to cut too much and checked with me throughout to make sure I was still happy as the hair cut progressed. The only thing I didn't love was the cost, it ended up being a 50.00 haircut plus a tip when I'm use to paying about 28 plus tip. I 100% will be going back to see Candace though! read more

These guys are awesome! Not only is the shop super beautiful, the stylists know their stuff. I met the owner when she was a bridesmaid in a wedding I was planning and we clicked. She is impressively talented and over the top funny. The shop itself is super gorgeous, I'm pretty obsessed with the mirrors suspended from the ceiling. The next time I encountered this shop was when I was getting styled for s shoot with Apple Brides. The stylist who did my hair curled it perfectly and it lasted all day. I had just moved to the city and was looking for a new hairstylist, I found this salon and was scheduled an appointment with Sierra. She was nowhere on the website so I came in skeptical. My hair almost reached my butt and i asked for a trim and showed a picture with layers and it was mid length and I even said "not this short". I also specified that I do not like my haircut straight across and that I wanted a "V" cut. I was also booked for a full color and was trying to get to a lighter color which she said could not be achieved and I would have to go as dark as the color I had right now in order to even it out and I agreed. She colors my hair and then washes and begins to cut. I asked for a trim and layers she began cutting my hair in the back and by the time it got to the front my hair was cut to my shoulders!!! She proceeds to ask if I wanted layers and then she began to cut my curtain bangs that were also cut straight across with the next strands being twice as long (no blending). After the color, wash, and blowdry my roots were still very light and she said I would have to come back to get them fixed so the one thing that needed to get colored the most was still just as light. They booked me to come back almost a week later. The day I was very emotional of how short my hair was so I wanted to call back and ask for a refund instead. I called 5 times and left a voicemail and multiple times the next day. No one ever answered or called back. As they are closed on sunday/monday, I could not reach them until tuesday where they were reluctant to refund me until they said "it sounds like we dont want to deal with this anymore either" and said they would call me back that day to discuss the refund. I never got a call back just an emailed receipt of most of my money back. Do not recommend this place, made me feel undermined and insecure. read more

Love the results. While in no way could this place be described as inexpensive but you get what you pay for and its worth it. The place is beautiful and if you have to be stuck in a chair with tinfoil on your head this is place is relaxing and enjoyable to do so. I did have a little trouble with the first call. Clearly people who go here spend a lot on beauty and the customers are all very much fashion forward I do not usually fit into either statement and felt overwhelmed with just trying to book appointment because I didn't know the exact process that would make my ashy-listless "brown" into a deep rich chocolate brown (and thus the amount of time needed). They did offer me a free consultation prior to setting up an appointment but my schedule just doesn't allow that. First session was horrific; the coloring & the placement of color was nowhere near an ombré & went extremely high up towards my roots. Thankfully the owner refunded me my $180 & fixed it by blended the colors so it looks more natural. She was super helpful and made sure I wasn't leaving that salon looking like a hot mess. She was very upset with my first results. My advice is to do research on both the place and the stylist! I went to get my hair colored by Mandy and we had discussed how my hair wouldn't be light as I wanted to and how I would have to book a second appointment later to get it as light as I wanted. I understood that. I made the hairdresser aware that as long as I didn't leave with brassy hair I'd be fine. My hairdresser was rough when combing through my hair and used cold water to wash it. Have really enjoyed coming to Lavish! I am working on going from very dark to light and the girls there have been so nice about making sure that I like the results on my In between styles. It makes such a process to go light and they have been great about explaining everything and making me look great during the transition! She is full of energy, she's bubbly and smile never leaves her face even under her mask. Her skills as a hairstylist are amazing. After having been to several other salons in Spokane, I was lucky enough to find this hidden gem named Caroline! It seems getting the right hair cut for me was rather difficult, I have long hair I just want trimmed with layers and some side bangs, yet the last three stylist failed to execute this. Imagine my surprise when before Caroline was even done I could tell she nailed it!! I'm so appreciative,she also took the time to show and explain how to style my new bangs, to me that was above and beyond since of all the haircuts I've ever had no one has ever done this. With this being my first time meeting her, I was impressed with the manner in which she conducted herself, very mature, smart young lady. As far as seeing everyone else's hair being done, they do a good job. But the stylist I was with acted like they would much rather be somewhere else the whole time. I was also charged a crazy amount for work that fell very short of my expectations. Me being the non confrontational person I am, didn't argue about the price. I just wanted to leave. My hair at the end was dark brown through out and I had blonde roots. It looked like bad grow out, not a professional dye job. I went to other salons in the valley and in Coeur d'Alene and had my hair COMPLETELY botched from hair stylists who were not even close to experienced in the field. Then I met Thom at Lavish. Hoooooly (f-bomb). Thom is a hair god. And I have some difficult hair to work with. He completely cleaned up my mess and I will never go elsewhere. I was very nervous to find a different salon since I have curly hair and most people don't listen to me when I say certain things, but I was reassured that they would put me with a "senior stylist" that will also just so happen to charge me more. I asked for a balayage as my hair was already extremely blonde and my roots were pretty grown out. I left with my hair looking nearly the same not one person could tell the difference. I also asked for a light trim, she cut around 2 inches off and also gave me layers which I didn't ask for. She is a little on the conservative side, but she listened to what I wanted. I came to Lavish after a blonde brassy mishap! (To say the least)... My hair was dry, damaged, and pretty much every shade of blonde that I did not want. Lindsay & Thom both consulted with me for a long time to figure out the best plan of achieving a presentable head of healthy blonde hair and eliminate all the brass! Not only is my hair looking shiny and blonde again, and healthier than before (which is rarely attainable after a bleach session), I love the color! I feel more than just presentable, I feel beautiful and confident in my hair quality. The color suits me well and I love the result.
