BUYER BEWARE -- you can not make an online purchase using JUST a KOHL's GIFT CARD, you MUST supply a credit card number, to verify your billing address, even though they won't be sending you a bill, nor charging your credit card. DON'T PURCHASE THEIR GIFT CARD as a gift for someone else, unless you know ahead of time the givee is willing to share their credit card number online, even though it's not being used for a purchase. This is actually for Kohl's on-line/Kohl's corporate. What a silly, silly policy you have in place!! Attempted to order (online) some sandals, with my $50 gift card I received at Christmas from a beloved Aunt. Total purchase (including tax and shipping) came to $49.76, and so I entered my gift card barcode number AND the gift card PIN number into Kohls.com, along with my "ship to" address - - but Kohl's policy dictates I MUST enter a CREDIT CARD number, as they NEED a BILLING address, so says their helpful associate at their 855-564-5705 call center. I said "You don't NEED a BILLING address, as you will not be sending me a BILL in the MAIL, because I'm not paying you on deferred credit, as I am paying you immediately today with my gift card, that you already received money for back in DECEMBER 2019. All you need is a shipping address, which is one-in-the-same anyway, so I suppose you now have my billing address, too." Helpful associate continued "But we need to VERIFY your billing address , and the only way to VERIFY your BILLING address is with your credit card." I replied "Let's say I gave this gift card to my my neighbor kid as a thank you for pet sitting. They are too young to own their own credit card, how will they place this order online?" Shockingly, she said "They can't ... not without a credit card to verify their BILLING address". Thinking the call center associate might be confused - - (but beginning to realize she probably is not, as that is the way the website was behaving, by asking for an additional credit card number even though my gift card covered the amount in full) - - I called my local store, 858-668-2860 and that associate confirmed that they need my credit card ... to VERIFY my BILLING address. This is an outrage, Kohl's--you don't NEED my billing address, you already got the billing address of my Aunt, unless she paid you with cash, which she probably did. #KohlsFail read more

I have been shopping at this location for years. I came in today to purchase pants for my son. As soon as I walked in a male manager was standing by the door. He was so close, I heard him speak into his walkie for me to be watched. As I approached the empty boys section, an employee comes over , and starts to "recover." Mind you, I am currently a manager at a retail store, and I am fully aware of this " hovering " technique. I was very uncomfortable, I grabbed what I came for. I browsed the perfume section, again he was there! He watched me check out, and pay for my items. As I was leaving I removed my sweatshirt. He stood and watched. Again, I understand protecting your store, and being diligent because people do steal and cheat the system. I wasn't one of them. I only put one star , because that was the lowest. This manager took it to a whole other level. I will never set foot in this location again. I was profiled due to me wearing a sweatshirt! I have never put a bad review, but here it goes. Management doesn't treat new employees well. I worked there for a few days, and I had enough. The older (long timers) employees though are WONDERFUL! They are very helpful when I am in there shopping and make my life easy. Unfortunately the bad review is just due to working there in the past, and I wouldn't recommend it. Today I was FALSELY accused of stealing two $8 tank tops at Kohl's in Poway. I purchased almost $100 of merchandise from there and as I was walking out of the store, I was stopped by loss prevention at the door. I was confused since I didn't steal anything. They brought me into their room and stated I took 2 tank tops. They stated 2-3 times that, "You can make it easy" and give back the merchandise. I stated I didn't take anything and they can search my purse and I took off my sweater. I was wearing fitted clothing so It was obvious that I wasn't hiding them on my person. They stated they cleaned the fitting room before they brought me into the loss prevention room and the tops weren't there. I never took the tops to the fitting room...I had looked at them and put them right back down and decided to try on a different tank top. They proceeded to call the police since I didn't have any merchandise to give them. As we were waiting for the police I took pictures of the loss prevention employees and they threatened to call 911, although they had already called the police. Maybe they thought by calling 911, they'd get emergency back up to stop me from taking pictures? They also repeatedly told me to get off of my phone as I was texting and calling my husband and mother-in-law. Once the cops (2 cops in 2 cars) came they asked what happened and looked at the video they had. Nothing to see there! The police ran my license and there was nothing to find because I follow rules and laws. The police asked if the female loss prevention officer could pat me down and I said, no. I did not want these people touching me. Shortly after, I was told by one of the police officers that I was free to go and they would escort me out of the store. I asked the loss prevention personnel for their names and they would not give me their names. I then waited for my mother-in-law to arrive and we went back in the store to speak to a manager and return all of the merchandise I had purchased. The manager, Kristin, us with the loss prevention names, Bertha Bowman and Jae Scott, but did not offer an apology and acted as if everything was "peachy." I am beyond angry about being falsely accused, and to add insult to injury, this was on public display as I was escorted to the loss prevention room, and later escorted out of the store as if I did something wrong. The loss prevention individuals were quick to make false accusations and call the police but did not find it necessary to apologize when they realized they'd made a mistake. I am traumatized! I was crying and confused, and truthfully, not sure I can go to sleep tonight. I will NEVER shop there again. I hope this never happens to anyone else. Not only did she not say anything along the lines of, "I am sorry this happened, I will make sure this is addressed and will ensure you are contacted" but she proceeded to have a weather, and personal conversation with another employee while she processed the returned items. They laughed and conversed as we waited to get my money back. I have been going in this store for around 3 years and today was worst experience, was told that "get out of my store" for asking confirmation of cancellation of my order to be picked up in store as I did not receive email and not sure what will happen to some of my kohls cash used on that order to pay. Kohl's is a place that I didn't expect to find interesting apparel, but I have over and over. Okay so maybe they have Avril Lavigne's new clothes line (ahh yes) but they also have Vera Wang's. Between their Junior and Woman's lines there is great variety. And everything seems to be on sale, all the time. You can always find great deals. They have a nice kitchen dept, things are interesting...I keep using that word, but it fits. I found some cool glasses that look tortoiseshell and are beautiful. My friend decorate her bathroom and you would never know where she got the things....It's not like Ikea. The shoe department always has good deals, they sell Candie's, Bongo, Vera Wang, cute cute shoes. They also have something called Kohl's dollars....they give them to you sometimes when you spend and you can come back and use them later...really good deals. read more

The store here seems bigger than other Kohl's in the surrounding area, but it could just be that this one is better laid out. Kohl's is an odd store to me, and I shop there on occasion because of that. There's one close to work, where I went to get a wallet. As I went to their wallet area (they had one!), I noticed their big signs stating if I buy one men's wallet, I can get another for half off. I was flummoxed, as I've never owned more than one wallet at a time in my life, and doubted many other guys did. It just seemed like a really odd promotion. Did they think I was going to get a brown one to go with one outfit and a black one to go with another? Would I find a friend and we'd go wallet-shopping together? Hell, I don't know. I've only been there a few times, but every time I walk out of the store, some little thing has me sporting a look of bemusement. **Update: Well, of course Kohl's is gonna say they stand behind their products. I'm yet to find a business that says otherwise. I've returned tons of stuff to Kohl's over the years. The point is: I've had it. I'll spend a little more for higher quality elsewhere. I'm done with Kohl's. Had it. Done. Finished. This isn't so much a knock on this particular store as it is on the chain as a whole. I saw someone post about wanting high quality clothes at affordable prices and couldn't help but snicker. Really? The quality of clothing at Kohl's has progressively declined to the point that I feel like I'm in a casino whenever I step foot in here and have to place bets on what articles of clothing will last the longest without shrinking or falling apart or revealing their defective qualities. One trend that I noticed during my most recent visit is that button-up shirts now have Velcro breast pockets instead of a button. I mean, really? I know everything in these stores are already outsourced from halfway across the world, but you can't put a damn button a shirt pocket? Clothing shrinks in cold washes, shirts unravel and fall apart, and articles of clothing become impossible to wear without an iron. There was a fleece that was gifted to me from Kohl's several years ago. It was from the Sonoma brand and it was very heavy and very warm. I held onto that thing for a long time. When it was time for a replacement I found that Kohl's had discontinued the item in favor of a far reduced quality fleece that quite honestly felt like construction paper. And that seems to be a trend with Kohl's over the years. I've had it. I'm spending a little more and going elsewhere. read more

If you think that this store has the unfriendly employees, I would recommend you try the one in Balboa and you will realize that this store's employees are the friendliest one among others. The store are twice size than the others KohlStaffs here try their best to provide customer the most enjoyable shopping experiences with a limited sources. The clearance section is the first place to check out for the most discount percentages which you can also combine with your coupons and other store's credit. The 30% off discount is the best discount especially when you open a new credit card, whether or not you are qualified for it. The location is far out from others but the price of items here are the best discount among other stores. I would totally recommend if you love treasure hunts. read more

This particular store is a mess. The majority of the employees, particularly the older ones, have a bad attitude and often quite rude. I used to be upset by this, but now I just pity them...low IQ, lack of any customer service skills, probably making min. wage...what have they got to be cheerful about? But I digress. As someone who's progressively slimming down (woot, btw), I want inexpensive, yet good quality work clothes that I won't mind getting rid of when I'm a size or two smaller in the next year. Shopping at Kohls fits the bill. Some of the clothes they have are good--the larger name brands, that is. If you get the cheaper brands, you get just that, cheaply made, poorly cut and sewn clothes. But I digress again...let get back to this particular store. It's a mess. Trying to find a size is an adventure. Nothing is where it should be and the departments are overstuffed & overfilled. Here's an analogy: You know that scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark, when Indy stares into the sea of people, all carrying the same white basket as he's trying to look for the one basket carrying his girlfriend Marion? That's how I felt staring into the men's dress shirt section. It's a struggle to find the color, brand, and size you want; you have to really search, dig, and scrutinize every shelf. You look into a shirt cube, they don't have your size. You look into another, it's the wrong brand in the wrong cube. Ugh. This store isn't even worth a review this long. Meh, I'd rather go to the Mira Mesa store that has friendlier employees and is cleaner. read more

I love their sales, they have the best clearances. I must say, though, they are sometimes hit and miss. Once I purchased four pairs of shoes for less than $40. (Gotta love it). I like this location much better than Clairemont, there's more of a selection. The people are very friendly. Word to the wise: Always save your receipt and if you don't have a receipt, watch how each customer service rep deals with the customers, they are not all created equal (with knowledge base, friendliness, return policy). Once i returned something and literally got less than 1/3 (on an exchange) of what I paid for the item because I didn't have a receipt. But then another time, a different associate helped me and I purchased something for $20, and she told me that I could exchange it for something that costs $80!!! Even when I told her I only paid $20. Doesn't make much sense. I just not tape my receipt to whatever I buy fro this store, because I never know. read more

I was honored to be part of Boys and Girls Club back to school shopping where board members get paired up with a needy child and have the pleasure of buying him/her clothing and shoes to go back to school. One of my funnest events of the year. KOHL'S again, was the host store. Not only do they open early to allow us in, they offer 15% off their already low prices and when the kids come into the store with their own carts (something they likely have never been able to do) the employees lined up and clapped for them hooting and hollering. Kohls reminds me of Mervyns back in the days. They have good selections on clothes, jewelry, shoes, toys, electronics, bed stuff, and some other random things that you wouldn't think they carry. They have great prices on almost all their items. They usually have sales on some things and they have good clearance racks on their clothes. The employees are usually nice and attentive, I never felt like I was being ignored. Some will walk up while your shopping and ask if every thing is okay. This store is fairly big and is always kept clean. Nobody really likes to shop at a place that's messy and dirty. I gave this a 4 star ONLY because it's in a weird location. Kind of out the cut around business buildings--random. BUT, on a better note, there's a great trampoline place next door, there is Staples and they have In N Out to enjoy in case you get hungry after shopping! May I add, they have a huge parking lot. So there is lots and lots of room to park. read more

We love Kohl's. They have a very good selection and fair prices (overall). Especially when you've received a 30% off coupon in the mail. This of course is a rare occasion, so take advantage when you do! The one thing I don't love is the constant games with the pricing. They have "sales" almost every week and never really charge what they say the original price should be. I know a ton of businesses do this now, but I'm kinda tired of it. Just charge me the price you want to. You don't have to pretend it would have sold for $60, but I'm getting a special deal at $30, if you never really sell it for $60. I love using my Kohl's Cash too, in coordination with my discount coupon. It always feels like I'm getting a good deal and saving so much! (It goes back to that pricing scam. I know I never would have paid the "full amount" but they somehow make you feel you could have...Okay, rant over.) This location is pretty good. The parking lot can get busy on the weekend or sometimes after work. You just have to park further away and walk. The cashiers have always been friendly and helpful to us. It's conveniently located next to In & Out, which I've had to frequent a couple of times after shopping sprees that left me famished. I'd recommend Kohl's. Good store, fair prices. read more

At the register they said the brand we purchased is not eligible however it is NOT listed despite other brands being listed. The "sporting goods exclusion" is not hyperlinked in the coupon so the consumer has to hunt on their fine print on the website Not the coupon to find. How would a customer know this in the store?! They had a promotion when I visited 5/16/10, for every $50 you spend they give you a $10 certificate to come back and shop within a few days. What a deal! This is my favorite Kohl's. They always have a multitude of good deals and because I have Kohl's card, I get all kinds of extra discounts and goodies via mail. My last trip netted a black cotton skirt, absolutely adorable and super easy to match to stuff I already had in my closet. It was originally $38.00 but it was on sale, and by the time I applied my Kohl's cash and my discount coupons, I paid $3.40 for the skirt. I had generally enjoyed shopping at Kohl's but admittedly I haven't been there recently. I stopped in this one today shopping for Dockers slacks. The inventory was mixed, differing styles and sizes to the point I gave up. What really irritated me though was the lack of clear pricing. They have a half off sale on an item when one is purchased at full price. Unfortunately they don't list the 'full' price anywhere. A joke of a store. Open a credit card under my mom's name without my mom knowing it and now we owed like 80$ something, don't even have the card or any mail saying that we open a credit card. No one in the family knows up until now where they called and asked for the money. Show no interested in helping us at all when we trying to figure out how to solve this situation. The lady on the phone keep asking for a receipt but we never make those purchases so how can we have a receipt. They commit fraud and also greedy where no help were offer. Worst customer service. I had an amazon return and was waiting there for about 10 minutes without anyone being there. Someone else went to look for her. When she helped me she didn't even say hello, she was mad for whatever reason and when I showed her my phone she said I had to change my light settings. I had no idea how to do that and she just stood there being rude. I couldn't see her name tag, but this bad treatment was bad enough to not ever come back. read more

I paid my bill, a day late (without knowing it) at the checkout... overpaying by about $10 because I was too sick (I have stage IV breast cancer and had gotten the flu) to stand in line to find out how much I owed. But then I opened mail from Kohl's that said I owed $89. I called and questioned the bill. It seems that I had paid a day late, they had added $25 late fee, and because I thought I had paid in full and on time had never thought to ask if I was correct. So, I owed $44 but the two late fees tacked on $50. The representative was NASTY and unsympathetic and would not help me out on this at all. I cancelled my card. I told her that I didn't need the added stress. I always made my payments on time. BAD customer service!!! It's too bad, I actually liked shopping there. I have just been too sick to do shopping lately. read more
