We don't often visit this particular Kohl's store as the Morton Grove location is more convenient for us. However, as we did recently, we did visit this one as it had an item in stock that the wife was looking for that the Morton Grove store didn't. Kohl's is a chain that we shop at with some regularity as they have good values and promotions, especially kiddo stuff, and oh boy, shopping for kiddos seems to be this grandma's full time job lol. She also likes ordering items online and then picking up locally. The self pickup service is very quick, convenient, and handy. In fact, it's so handy and staff independent, I wondered if there is ever a theft problem, but hopefully the honor system works on these sort of personal items that really are't worth trying to steal. The online ordering and self pickup system has resulted in us having visited the Kohl's stores in Arlington Heights, Schaumburg, and Vernon Hills as well and they are all fine, clean, and bright stores also. read more

I just returned an item to Amazon at this location. I received a 25% off coupon to use today so I spent time and found a few toys to give to my grandson at Thanksgiving. When I got to the front register, I was told by Billy the manager that all toys are excluded from that 25% off. It does not say it on the coupon nor did it say it in the toy aisle. Specific toys were mentioned in the toy aisle as not being applicable for coupons but not all of them. And he said they were "short on signs." This is not the customers problem. This is not my problem. My problem is I wasted a half hour looking at toys because I thought they would be 25% off. I explained it to Billy he said, that's the rule. I know, I know. After my last review, I vowed to never come back. Guess what? I went back, and my experience was greatly improved. And, so was the organization of the store. Every year for Christmas, my hubby and I pick up a pair of PJ bottoms for our boys (from Santa...even though they are teenagers now). We ran to Kohl's for some last minute holiday gifts and high hopes for PJ pants. The PJs were all picked over, and that's probably because everyone is living in their PJs at home. At random, we ended up bumping into the wallet display and decided to purchase a leather wallet for each of our boys. That was a fun score! And, the sales were amazing at 50% off. That's the great thing about Kohl's--the sales! Always a sale to be found. There was one little hiccup to our visit. I blame my husband for this, of course, but to his favor the situation was a little confusing. There is a kiosk where you can pay and leave so you don't have to stand in line. Cool! HOWEVER, once we payed, a message came up on the screen that asked where we wanted our items shipped. Doh! Turns out the kiosk is for shipping items to your home. It is not simply a self-checkout. Thankfully, after I paid, I was able to delete the transaction. But then we had to stand in the very long line. Ugh. It was a very long store visit :-) The store was incredibly clean and seemed organized in the areas where we shopped. When we first walked in the door there was a hand sanitizer station managed by some high school kids. They were really friendly and helped make sure we shopped safely. I really loved this store when they had curbside order pick up. Now that it's gone, it been harder to be motivated to come in. The lines are always super long and move slowly. The store itself has a great selection of items and they still have order pick up.... But it's at the very back of the store and not the most convenient. It's not often I go to Kohls. When you walk in you wonder why it's been forever. Then you see some of the ridiculous prices. A lot of the clothing can be purchased at other retailers for a quarter of the price. But we can not forget about some fantastic sales prices. Those prices seem to be a little closer to what I would personally pay. Store is spotless. No filthy ceiling tiles or missing floor tiles. The clothes were all hung with care in hopes of future customers. Registers were clutter free and discounted racks were well organized by the correct sizes. All in all it's all good. Cashier did her job, pushy on the store card but hey, that's part of the job and is to be expected. She did convince me on the rewards card. The store hours are amazing as I needed something late and they were open. Four stars only because prices, lack of brands I was looking for.. read more

I ordered online for quick store pick-up and followed the signs to the back of the store so I could pick it up. Their pick up pass software didn't work so the representative scanned my order and told me I had to go to the front, where I've been standing in line ten minutes since they don't separate customer service from regular checkout counters. A self pickup shouldn't take 20 minutes. Maybe make it clearer that pickup is actually in 2 areas of the store. read more

An older gentleman employee with white hair was working the cash register this evening and claimed I was trying to cut in line. It was an honest mistake on my part as I had my eyes focused on my pregnant wife at the next register. When I proceeded to wait my turn in line, he thought it would be good small talk with other customers to put me down regarding the situation. This Kohl's location has recently undergone a renovation, and as a semi-regular customer, I have to say that the store looks fantastic. I used to come into this place a bit reluctantly, because it was run-down and cluttered, bordering on dingy. However, it's very near my office, so the convenience kept drawing me in. Now--post-renovation--I won't hesitate whenever the need arises. This is the only place where I have found my preferred brand of v-neck t-shirts (Jockey), and over the years I have bought several ties and dress shirts here for very good prices. Otherwise, I mostly shop here for socks and the occasional emergency belt, although once I bought a pair of Dockers pants that I still wear, and last summer they fulfilled my quest for the perfect white polo shirt. I hated you with a passion for a long time, Kohl's. Your merchandise always seemed to be geared toward suburban moms with a penchant for themed outfits. But I finally relented and went to see your new Vera Wang line. "Hip!" you said "Fancy!" "Chic!" Um...I guess? I don't know what I was expecting, but I guess a little more than that. Dull purple and grey? In June? Wow, a tad depressing Vera! Could we jazz it up a little! Colour perhaps? Maybe a little yellow or something! OK, there was a cute navy dress with a black sequin collar, but the sequins were loose and I know they would have fallen of the first time you wore it. Oh well. As for the rest of the stuff in the store: I have had nightmares about patterns such as those on some of your clothing. Is this where all bad patterns come to die? Who is designing these 100% polyester, old-lady clothes? Kohl's could definitely use a revamp along with new buyers. While I have found some great finds here, lately it seems like they are few & far between. The badgering to open a credit card needs to stop along with the constant announcements on the overhead and making you feel stupid for saying "no, thank you" - no means NO, Kohl's. Customer service leaves much to be desired & the last time I was the one woman was practically berating a couple for wanting to buy two carts of items saying one should go to one register and one should go to another (what?) to avoid holding up the line. Then she started complaining loudly to another associate about how none of the registers were closed and there was no time to do everything and I felt almost guilty for being there. I don't think their focus is on customer service so much as making their goals for store credit account cards - which, by the way, still effects your credit report even if you pay it off in full each month. I can get the same discounts they offer for opening a card by pulling up coupons on my phone. read more

This Kohl's is pretty good, and the selection is rather nice too. I find myself going here for clothes the most out of anywhere else. There is a bit of a issue here though... In the women's intimate section's fitting room area, the doors do not lock on the fitting room stalls. Considering you could potentially get walked in on if someone doesn't realize the one you're using is occupied this is a concern. I hope for this to be fixed, soon. read more

It is hard to beat Kohl's on overall price and selection for clothes. I buy a lot of my casual and office wear at this store. If you buy a certain amount from them each year, you get on their "MVP" list and they send you special discount cards every few weeks. At a minimum, you get 15% off and sometimes 20% or even 30%. Kohl's is the only store I know of where they don't place a lot of conditions on their specials. If you get a 20% discount, it applies on top of any other discounts they may be offering at that moment, like "buy one, get one half off" deals. Sometimes they also give you $10 cash for every $50 spent. Recently I got a $10 Kohl's Cash certificate. I didn't really need anything but I just went to the store and had a look around. I found a nice name brand dri-fit workout shirt for $10 and they just gave it to me! Yes, if you go there at a busy time like during the holiday rush, things can get a little messy. They just can't keep up with it when there are dozens of people in the store pawing through everything, mixing up sizes, and dropping stuff on the floor. They do their best to keep the store neat. It's not always an easy job. One thing I have noticed is that if you're looking for a specific size of jeans, for example, you may have to spend some time sorting through all of that particular style or color because they do get out of order. And not infrequently, they will be out of stock of the one you need. However, they do have a kiosk where you can order from their warehouse and they will send it to you free of charge if you place the order from the store. If you order online from home, you can sometimes get free shipping if you buy more than a certain amount, like a lot of other stores. Kohl's has a very generous return policy. If you buy something online that you don't like, no worries; you can bring it back to the store and they will refund your money. One caveat, if you get a Kohl's charge card, be sure to pay your bill on time to avoid charges. Kohl's Charge does not have an "autopay" option that will pull from your checking account like most Visa and Mastercards have. read more

Well, it's one of the busiest time of the year to shop. People are rushing, some are impatient, others lose it and just snaps. I won't be surprised if it's a costumer losing her/his fuse ... but a CASHIER! Well this lady was very impatient telling me that the 30% store coupon does not apply to the merchandise I am buying. My employer asked me to return some clothing items for her. I had the shipping forms with the bar codes and all of the items were tagged. I could not check each item off because I was unsure which blouse was which so I brought everything to the store for help. I was the only person in line at the return counter. A lady called me up to the counter and when I asked for help she told me it was not her job to help me figure it out. She went on and on and on. She was extremely rude. I asked if I need a manager and she said, "do you want these items returned or a manager". After arguing with her for a few minutes she decides to scan the bar code on the paperwork then scan each item. The actual return took less than a minute. I was mad at Kohl's at first. They didn't seem to have flannel pants. Who doesn't have flannel pants?? It took us forever to find them, and when we did, they were tagged as $25. I was on my way back from the airport and decided to stop at this branch because I needed a suit coat. I ended up buying two with a total of $250. I had already paid when I remembered I had a discount coupon. Unfortunately it had expired on Monday while I was out of town but one of the CSAs at the checkout advised that I should speak with Customer Service. This was the 1st excellent Customer Experience point. The gentleman was of Nigerian heritage. When I got to Customer Service and explained the situation and that I had been advised to speak with them so they could take care of it for me they did not quibble or try to prove "company policy" which many companies do instead of trying to delight the customer. In fact, the equipment in the Customer Service area had an issue however they did not give up and switched to another machine and eventually processed the discount for me - 2nd great Customer Experience point. I only remember the name of one of the ladies who made this such a great experience and her badge I think had "Violet" or something along those lines on it - she took over from the original CS rep who couldn't get the machine to work, so both of them are worthy of recognition. P.S. I am based in NW suburbs of Chicago so not sure why my location shows California! read more

I called my local store, as I have a problem with an on line order, and they have placed me on hold twice and then conveniently disconnected my call... I purchased 2 cashmere sweaters on line.. Gentlemen: Today, I went to Kohls, Glenview, IL. and went directly to the Customers Service Desk to see if my card was still active ( I was in the Upper Peninsula of Michgan for a year and there is no Kohls north of Green Bay). The woman at the service desk said that indeed, my card was still active. I then made a purchase and was informed by the clerk at the checkout that my card was "inactive". The woman from the service desk came over and claims she did not go far enough in checking my card. I was asked to produce an active credit card, my drivers license and give my SSN (reluctantly which I did. The next question was, "What is your combined annual income? I and my husband were in checkout line, with many people around. What kind of question is that to ask in public? We refused to give that information publicly and then was advised that we could not be approved. I have had a Kohls charge card for 30+ years, shopped regularly and paid all of your statements on time. Is this how you treat your customers? Interogating them in public about gross annual income? Someone at Kohls had better wake up!!! We rate customers and if is the policy treatment of customers, I need not, and will not shop at Kohls in the future. Just in case you don't know, the rte are many other options to Kohls. I refuse to be intimidated and I don't need your interrogation at the checkout counter. I was not applying for a new credit card, only a reinstate. As I stated, I've had a Kohls charge card for 30+ years, and no doubt, you already have all the information you need to make a credit judgement. There was a particular cashier at the Glenview store in the Women's department in the morning on December 14, 2016 that was too aggressive in her efforts to convince an elderly woman to sign up for a Kohl's credit card. The shopper continued to tell the cashier that she was not interested and just wanted to pay for her items and be on her way. The cashier would not give up and continued to push this customer to sign up for the card. The customer continued to decline the offer. The cashier would not listen to the customer and got to the point the customer was actually being harassed. the customer could not be checked out and the line of customers was continuing to grow longer and longer. I understand that Kohl's cashiers must have some type of a bonus /commission in place for them to be so pushy, but they should be instructed, if a customer says NO- take No for an answer. read more

I have had the worst experiences using Kohl's electronic credit card site. Customer service was completely useless in helping with credit card errors and I have closed my accounts and washed my hands of them forever. They use deep discounts to create accounts and then wreck havoc on your credit rating with inaccessibility, poor customer service and outrageous fees on the back end. read more
