We enjoyed a lovely evening in the rv park. Quiet, well spaced sites in a clean and well kept park. Highly recommend.

This RV park is terrible. I ended up in a loose powdery dirt site that made my entire rig filthy. The camp site was all dirt making our dog filthy as well. I went to the office to ask a question, there were 4 employees in there and one other customer. I stood by the desk for 5 minutes and no one acknowledged I was there. I ended up walking back through the dirt to my dirty RV. If you have a nice painted RV like a Class A or large Fifth-wheel stay away. They have low hanging trees that will pinstripe the top edges of your rig. read more

I would give this place zero stars if I was able. We came up today, arrived at 11:30. We were not allowed to get in to our cabin as they said people had just checked out and they were cleaning our cabin. We finally got access to enter and the cabin was digesting. Food left in the refrigerator, toilet not cleaned and disgusting filth on kitchen counter and table (see images). They then indicated no one had been in the cabin for three days and have had issues with homeless people. Wouldn't you think the homeless would've eaten the food that was left in the refrigerator??!! Or the bed disheveled from sleeping on it?? Fabricated lie!!! I then asked if no one has occupied the cabin for 3 days, why did we have to wait almost three hours for the cabin to be "cleaned"? The terrible on-site manager, Candice, said "THAT'S POLICY!!" So much for accommodating your customers that have driven hours to get here. Candice then stood there with her worker trying to figure out why the cabin hadn't been cleaned. When I asked if they could just start cleaning so we could get to the lake? B Candice said "I'M TRYING TO DETERMINE WHAT HAPPENED!" How about you figure that out AFTER you clean so we can get to the lake!!!!! Un-frickin-believable!!! Waiting now for cabin to be cleaned - UGH!!! Perhaps they should reimburse US for the time we are now wasting. Think twice about coming to this KOA especially if Candice with terrible customer service is still working here!!! read more

I stayed at one of the cabins here. The cabin itself was fine. I had a bathroom, full sized fridge, and a stove top to cook on. What turned me off is that there are employees of this location that live in trailers adjacent to the cabin I was at. I recognized several trailer inhabitants from the office I checked in at. One trailer had two pit bulls chained to it. The dogs would bark and whine all day. The employees that lived in the trailers would yell at the dogs and at each other all day and sometimes at night. Staying here was a very bizarre and uncomfortable experience. read more

This place is A-Okay. I actually like it better than the KOA at Coffee Creek in Trinity County. My sis and I camped there for 2 nights a couple of weeks ago. We were going to camp up on Mt. Shasta, but they've cut down a lot of the trees up on the mountain around the USFS campground, so we bailed for KOA, which is pretty consistently ('A'?) OK. It's sort of like going to MacDonald's.... 'i'm NOT lovin' it'....But....you know what to expect, right? The Good -- the gal managing the place let us pick our own site out. She also let us upgrade on the second night, when it started raining. And she even gave us a $20 discount for a cabin (off season... but still appreciated). All we had to do was to ask, and she was really cool about it. Of course, we'd already spent one night there in a tent, so we were a 'known quantity'. The Bad -- maybe one block from the railroad tracks, and I've got to tell you ---- those trains whistle through town every hour-and-a-half until about 12:30 am, then (only once!) every 2 hours until 5:30 am. In a tent.... you HEAR those suckers coming............and going..... The second night in the Kabin, we didn't hear the trains as much which was very nice. We took a very amusing video of 'Waiting for the Train to Pass" as proof that the Kabin was much better. It was Kold, so we also put on the little heater fan, which provided an additional White Noise cover. It's all good. Since there is such great camping all around Mt. Shasta, including FREE camping up on the mountain (and McCloud, Lake Siskiyou, etc.), I doubt that I'll ever go here again. But it was nice to have a roof during the rain, and the showers were Klean. read more

This is a nice place to stay. We arrived a little before check in, but my spot was ready and it was a fairly easy pull through. The spot was not level and I had to get creative with my leveling blocks, but that's why I have them. The pool was really cold, but felt good on an unusually hot day. The dog park was a little on the small side, but my dog didn't care and seemed to enjoy it. There are train tracks nearby, but I didn't hear any trains. We were only staying one night on our way to Oregon, but the owner/manager gave us some great suggestions on the local sights. Her suggestions were perfect and what we thought of as only an overnight stop turned into one of the highlights of our trip. There were a lot of lakes nearby and we got up really early the next morning to drive up to some vistas to take in Mt. Shasta at sunrise. I would absolutely stay again. read more

Yay! This was our first time "glamping" and it was very convenient. We were checked in right away and the cabin was adorable. There is a porch swing! Lots of fire pits and picnic tables. The water tasted so refreshing! The bathroom situation was good and clean! Three shower stalls and three bathroom stalls near registration. I think the best part was the grounds keeper's singing! not only does he have a great voice, he is very knowledgeable of Mt. Shasta and the town itself :) read more

Horrible place! We booked 3 cabins 5 months in advance. We were scattered around the campground. Cabins were filthy. I swept under the bunk beds before we left. I found dirty paper masks and a used tampon! None of which was ours! It was very hot during our stay. The sign at the pool area said the pool was open until 8pm. It was not. It closed every day between 4 and 4:30. With no way to cool off at camp in the hottest part of the day, it was miserable. On sight Manager could not be bothered with the pool. read more

My stay was not positive. I arrived after hours (8pm) on 10/16/2020. There was no message for me on the white board. No maps, nothing (I later found out my site was #2). Instead I found a vacant site that apparently belonged to someone else which caused middle of the night issues and early morning issues. It seemed that Shasta KOA lost my pre-paid reservation and I had to prove I wasn't an errant freeloader :( read more

Loved this KOA. We rented a Cabin for one night on our trip from So Cal to WA. Pet friendly and kid friendly. Amenities were all clean and functional. Patrick brought us over some unused wood from another departed guest for a camp fire. Then checked in on us later to make sure we were all good. I really appreciated the friendliness, ease of booking and cleanliness. With grounds this beautiful and this close to the freeway we will be abandoning hotel stays on our drives to and from WA! read more

Like you, I've read several less than stellar reviews of this KOA... Mostly from people bitching about the trains being bone-jarringly loud and keeping people up all night. Well, the trains didn't bother us at all. My wife and son slept right through them, and my daughter thought they were cool. So no problem there. However... Man is this place dusty. Like, crazy dusty. We stayed one night and that was all it took to get everything we owned covered in a fine layer of dirt. It's a week later and my son's shoes still kick up little explosions of dust when he walks. Pros: Great trees and shade, nice campsites. Cons: Mega dusty. Like, crazy insane dusty-to-the-max. read more

This KOA has become our base after several trips to Mt. Shasta. They are generally friendly and we have enjoyed staying in the basic 2 room Kamping Kabins (no bathroom). On two occasions when it was cold and heaters were required, the electricity kept going off. Eventually we stopped asking them to flip the breaker and I started doing it myself. After two weekend visits with the same issue, the owner said he would put a note on our account giving us a free night at our next visit. He also brought us some newly cut wood for our fire at no cost. After several months, we went back and he was true to his word... we got our free night. We didn't need heat on that trip so I have no idea if they fixed their electrical issues. We like Kamping Kabins 48, 49, and 54 because they are away from the main traffic and RVs. There is good tree cover, which makes it feel like you're a little more isolated than you really are. There are a lot of tent sites behind the kabins and when those are full, it's a little noisy. But we seem to be there most when there are few tent campers. We had 1 night in Kamping Kottage 6, which felt a lot smaller than the Kabin but offered a full bathroom, microwave, refrigerator, and table with chairs. The toilet stopped working at some point in the evening and we were told a plumber couldn't come until the next day. My handy partner was able to fix it temporarily so we could at least use the bathroom during the night. The kids enjoyed the playground and the pool... both are pretty small. It would be nice if they offered a little more programming for children and families like other KOAs around Northern California do. But then Mt. Shasta offers plenty of entertainment itself. Overall we've had good experiences at reasonable prices. Maintenance could be a little better but since we usually sleep in tents, we're not too bothered. I just hope they get the electrical issues worked out before we go back when it's cold. read more

We were stopping here overnight on our way to Oregon. Our arrival was going to be after hours (somehow we ended up running WAY later than we expected...sigh). We called the office and they were totally cool, walked us through the after-hours check-in procedure. Our assigned site was occupied when we landed, but the site next to it was available so we crawled into that site and fell onto our noses, to the most restful sleep we had probably our whole trip. Reviewers on Yelp and other places commented on the train whistling through town in the middle of the night. We both heard the whistle but as a background that didn't break our sleep at all. We were up and out early, well before the staff arrived, so another phone call from the road to let them know where we'd ended up staying and that we were gone already. Again, the staff was super helpful and patient. We give them high marks despite never meeting them in person, because phone communications can go terribly terribly wrong, but these calls were terribly terribly RIGHT! Overall, we look forward to returning next time we're headed to Oregon. read more

Stayed here on a drive from Salem, Oregon and am glad i stayed here. The tent sites are in a forested area with not too much space between the sites of other people. Campground was pretty quiet but there was a train that ran by at 3:30 am. So prepare yourself with ear plugs. If you are coming from Northbound Interstate 5 and exiting off the freeway and driving down the side road, the signage can be kind of hard to see since it was hidden, This was the first KOA campsite i've stayed at and will be back as well as staying at other KOA campgrounds!!! read more

I didn't find the train noise to be particularly bothersome, but I do live in an urban area and may be used to some noise at night. The park was older but well maintained. The pool was very cold. There was a small playground for children. The park is very close to "downtown" Mount Shasta so you can walk to restaurants etc. if you want. We stayed here for one night on our way up to Oregon. I probably would not make this a destination but it was fine for a place to park our trailer for the night. Do not expect to check in early. There was a sign on the office door that said the open at 2:00pm (check-in time). read more

This is an acceptable KOA. It's easy to find just off the North entrance to Mt. Shasta. Yes, there are some trees that make the entrance to the park a little more challenging. But I had no problem getting my 42' fifth wheel through them. Check-in was a breeze. The pull thru was a breeze. Sites are a little close but OK. The cable TV is OK at best and there are a lot of trees, so satellite TV would be a challenge too. The staff are first rate! Friendly and always willing to help. The laundry facility is acceptable for your basic needs. The store is well stocked and they even have a rec room with TV, arcade games and books to read. I can't give it five stars because the place appears to just be run down. I get it that it's an older park, but that shouldn't matter. It really just appears the owner doesn't take much interest in the place. But hey, it's better than a Walmart parking lot or the ba k of a truck stop. read more

Campground needs to be updated. First of all, they are doing construction, should be done during off season. Game room, most games broken, there is a stove and microwave sitting in game room. The kids are waiting for the pool to open, it opened at 8, but the guy is cleaning it at 11:15? Playground needs updating. Laundry room has out of order washers. The office closed 2 hours before it was suppose to. Staff is very nice. read more

Beautiful campground right next to town. Pros - fairly level spots, lots of pull-throughs, reasonable rates, nice playground, convenient camp store, clean restrooms, amazing scenery. Cons - the lock on the women's bathroom is nonfunctional. I wasn't particularly concerned, but come on. Fix the lock already. $50 at Lowes. To address the issue of the trains - yes, it is close to the train tracks. Unfortunately, as the train tracks run through town, everything is close to the train tracks. And being in a relatively rural area, even if you were far from the train tracks, you'd still hear the train anyway. Roll over and go back to sleep. It's "rustic" and all part of the charm. Will definitely be coming back. On a side note - bring your own food. We tried several places in town and none of them were better than "meh," and all overly-priced. Everything that isn't a bar opens late and closes early, including the grocery stores. read more

Nice spot to stop and hang out...Only negative is the "full timers" that live here take away from the parks natural vibe of a great site. All their oil cans/trash/propane tanks next to their RVs take away from the parks nice amenities. Apparently the full timers go to bed at 8pm and expect no noise from their neighbors that are less than 3 feet away. Our neighbor kept yelling at us at 9pm to be quite. We're camping and having fun (no drinking or music)! Hello!?! The full timers should be moved to a location where they don't have to worry about people arriving late and setting up camp. Front desk was friendly. Gives police and military discount. Small campground with pool and playground. We stayed in a cabin, it was clean and cozy, but definitely needs a/c! Also, train goes all night long and you can hear it. Would stay there again if passing through. read more

Great cabin we got here. I leave near train tracks anyways, so wasn't a factor for me at least. Bathrooms clean, pool was nice. cabin awesome. And a quick walk to town from your campground and you're in spiritual/hippyville. The only laughable thing was the women in the bathroom- old hags getting dolled up- for camping???I mean really, ladies, you're camping, and from the looks of it, nothing to doll up anymore. read more

Clean showers and hot water, let's just start there. So many places you go to have grungy showers and I really appreciate the clean ones. Internet access is reasonably fast considering Mt. Shasta City but only if you are in a part of the park that supports it. Our first night there we were parallel to the the front door and had WiFi, the next night we were along the side and the signal was so weak we couldn't connect. We heard a train but it wasn't loud and we weren't woken up at night. There are trees and a play structure for the kids. We didn't use the pool (32f this morning) but it is a good location and near friends so I think we will be back regularly. I hope they improve wireless though. read more

If I could give this campground a minus 5 stars I would!! It's a very dirty campsite; we were given a WiFi password that did not work on any of our phones, TV, iPads, etc., the DSL did not work, so no television AT ALL!! When we began to hook up our water, the campsite beside us used both water faucets and only shared this with us after we gave up. We had no water hookups and no one to complain to!!! The pool looked like a cess pool. Doesn't matter if it's off season or during Covid, it shouldn't be filthy with black water, dirt and leaves in it. That's a breading ground for disease!! Then there's the issue of noise: it specially states that quiet time begins at 10 pm, but they don't mention the trains that are so noisy they shake your camper all night long! STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!! Dry camping would be a 4 star resort compared to this place!!! read more

I want to begin by saying I am a huge fan of the KOA organization and I've been to several KOA locations. This review is not reflective of how I feel about KOA and I would still stay at a KOA in the future. I just may avoid this one or at least have a better understanding of what it offers. I was grateful this location has deluxe cabins with their own bathrooms. I'll probably always stay at a KOA with deluxe cabins even if the facility as a whole isn't that great. There is a playground but it's covered in gravel, which is not an ideal surface for kids. My daughter fell face first in the gravel and wound up with a dozen small dents in her forehead and some superficial bleeding. It looked pretty bad. The kids were excited for the arcade but only a couple of games actually worked. There is a small pool but I am sure it's nice when the weather is hot. The staff is friendly and we got our quarters back when the arcade games didn't work. This isn't a bad place to stay when you know what you're getting. The cabin was nice and I was glad to have my own bathroom with a full bath. read more

Short story: Bad service, poorly maintained property, map is completely out of scale, and there are too many permanent residents for a KOA Our experience in detail: We had a list of wants for our booking which included the ability to camp with friends (they tent camp and we have a trailer so getting spaces close together can be challenging), a place for the dogs to play, something fun close by. This place checked all the boxes so we called and booked over the phone to ensure we would get the only two spots that were trailer/tent next two each other. Well..six weeks later we arrived to find our space was changed (just ours, our friends were still in the requested spot) so we were no longer near our friends. Jennifer, the check in person was rude, unhelpful and had every excuse in the book for her uselessness including how if I wanted a specific space that I needed to call and make the reservation over the phone (which I had). So we went and parked (maybe it wouldn't be so bad), walked around the place and then went back to ask if we could be moved since there were plenty of open spaces, reminding her that we had made the reservations for specific spaces and it was in fact their mistake so it would be nice if they could at least fix it. Her excuses then included how the person that made my reservation no longer worked there, that "see these maps? we are sold out and all these people still need to check in today" and then she even went so far as to tell me that the owner had recently died and was buried two weeks ago so the family was struggling?! What does one even say about that?! So here we are, wrong spot, rude useless staff and the part I had not mentioned yet was that the property did nothing to redeem those setbacks. Our friends' campsite looked more like a day use area than a camping spot, no idea where the tent was actually supposed to go and it was the only site with no fire pit. If I had to guess I would say at one time it was likely a group site?! The 'dog park' was basically a small unmaintained dust bowl filled with loose fine dirt. It was actually a dog run mostly used for peoples dogs to poop. The basketball hoop was broken and the playground equipment was poorly maintained to the point that the swings sounded like dying animals all day long. I was also surprised to see the number of permanent residences. It might sound bad, but it felt like camping in someones front yard, in a trashy trailer park as opposed to being at a campground with a well known corporate name. We did not visit the pool or the restrooms so those may have been better than the rest of the place. The cabins looked ok from the outside and there were actually 4 spaces that looked like luxury spots but we were told those are almost never available to be booked because they are always "reserved"...huh? Back to our stay, our friends arrived late, and decided it just made more sense to stay with us instead of trying to figure out the tent site layout. so we were four adults and three large dogs in a 19' trailer. The next day we went hiking and returned to a voicemail telling us there was an issue with the card we used to book the tent site. Good thing, because they basically just tried to charge us even though there was no one there. Since we had already paid the deposit we figured they would just cancel it and keep the deposit since no one was occupying the site... I thought that was in the policies somewhere, maybe not? When my husband went to go deal with that, Jennifer again, more rudeness... she told him they do not check the sites, that we would be forfeiting the deposit (the one I paid six weeks ago) and then informed him they had video of me yesterday in the office... huh?! of what? most likely me talking with my hands (too logically I presume) with a mask on six feet back from the counter? ok... and... So we went back to camping... stayed our final night and got up in the morning, packed up and got ready to go... BUT FIRST... before we could leave we were approached by a woman who identified herself as a manager (no mask, no name). She said she heard there was a "kerfuful" when we arrived and that they had seen and forwarded the video to corporate. I said Oh! Good because I was planing to call them on Monday. To which she said "PLEASE LET ME FINISH, do I need to tape this interaction too?!" then she went back to saying she had seen this video and I said "So you are aware of the issue we encountered?" SHE HAD NO IDEA WHAT THE ISSUE WAS, nor did she care. She just went on to say that they would like to ask us not to return there. (As if it was not clear we had no interest in returning.) She walked away when I asked for her name... Any I do NOT recommend this place. There are MANY other options in the are and I am positive they could not possibly be worse than this KOA. (Awesome first KOA experience for us.) read more

It's not the usual KOA high standard. It's OK for a stop over. We stayed two nights to rest up. Worst part is our site ( and I saw others) sewer drain pipe was above grade enough that I had to lift our drain hose multiple times to drain black and gray tanks. Why, I ask do RV parks not correct this problem. I was unfortunately at another RV park in Oregon with the same issue. Anyway, this park has not been maintained for many years. Shower stalls all need to be replaced. Grounds are in need of some landscape love. No litter about so that was nice. Dog run was good. read more

Rad place to stay, grounds are well kept, beautiful scenery, and even the basic cabins are amazing! The only down side is the staff has given me mixed messages about wearing a mask due to this covid virus. Coming from Sacramento I called 3 times once to add days to stay longer etc, and to also ask multiple people if I needed to bring a mask. To my surprise and excitement to leave that awful thing at home, I got an answer of "no this is camping in Shasta!" Yay! I was so excited hear this! Here for almost 2 days and I've only seen 2 people wearing one. (One of which was part of staff-all other staff members weren't knew as a camper...) Then on my last day here (where I spent $85 for a full day and night to be her a half day more, since they don't do late check out) and also spending $120 on tee shirts because I loved it so much here, I get "Ma'am next time you come in the lobby/mart wear a face mask." When three people in the lobby/mart room weren't....? If it's required to wear one please put it on the website, because I will take my business and money to buy apparel else where. Yes, it's a great "suggestion" to people in this state to wear one but I have severe asthma and anxiety and a doctors note specifically stating I don't need to wear one. I'd rather not waist my money on a place that calls me out like this to wear one in front of everyone including other employees, and campers who are all with out. So annoying. If you don't want an older lady making you feel the way she made me feel, a different camp spot is your best bet! read more

We stayed four days with our travel trailer in July 2018. This is just an okay park where you have the basics like water and electricity. The facilities are functional but really old. None of the outlets in women's bathroom/shower room worked. WiFi was a joke and tv reception was poor. Your camp site is just dirt and gravel and even though I had a nice big mat out I couldn't keep trailer floor clean. While we were there the place was inundated with some kind of flying bugs all over the place. People in the office were nice and ice was $3 for a small bag. Unlike other KOAs the clubhouse was not air conditioned or welcoming and I never saw anyone in there. read more

Dirty bugs are worse than most hill camp sits. It's old and rusety. It is locally and privately owned so with that said I thing it's a great place to stay for a max a 3 nights. Playground nice small pool but it's very safe. Nice general store it has everything wereerd entry but you will get here. It's nice so just try it out and make a review. read more

We were here at the end of June. This place was okay. It's a nice looking place and the playground area seems to be a good place for kids and their families to play/relax. The sites are somewhat unleveled with ruts. Be sure to have blocks to level your rv. Jacks might not touch the ground otherwise. The power was out for a few hours during our stay, and it was hot. ACs were needed. My father-in-law and uncle-in-law (both certified electricians) both said the wiring in the boxes were junk in need of replacement. Some of the employees were rude when we asked if we could get a partial refund if the power wasn't fixed. The boss was nice; he came to our sites personally and told us when the power was fixed. read more
