Fun place with children but loud and crazy for adults that can't escape on paddle boarding or kayaking.

No staff warning of bears. Wine stolen from our campsite. It doesn't feel safe here. Our second night tent camping a very large bear opened all our food bins in the middle of the night! The security number didn't pick up and the guard patrolling the next morning casually shrugged and said it happens every night! Because they don't warn campers it's only a matter of time before this bear is breaking into cars and tents. We tent camp a lot and always put our food away and in a bear box but because the camp resort said nothing about bears and no boxes were provided we thought it was "safe". We go every year to Yosemite, where bears do break into cars so we were afraid to put food in our car. We had to chase the bear away and it made for a very stressful camping experience. If you go stay in the cabins. It's only a place to go with kids who want to do the bounce house on the water. It's big and crowded. Also we had wine stolen from our camp our first day! It's a free for all kind of place. Loud campers and no staff.

A Gem for Tent Campers! What an amazing spot for our tents! We were in spot 44 and it was wonderfully private, with a great fire ring and a good distance from the neighbors. The store is well-appointed and has everything you need. The beach at the camp has roped off sections, but for those of us who haven't been around people, it can feel a bit crowded. There are wonderful beaches across the lake off of North Shore Road. So many great swimming holes in the area as well. We wanted to rent a boat, but they were all reserved. Would do this next time for sure to putt around the lake and take dips. The reviews of the bathrooms are true and it's really the only drawback of this place. We went mid-week so got an assigned spot without paying the extra fee and it was lovely.

The view where great got to walk on the bridge.

I had a great time our site was clean and not a lot of noise the river and beach was perfect and loved that it was pet friendly. There is a store, winery and brew along with a restaurant and the cabins looked so comfy

This is the second time coming to Lake Siskiyou and we love it! It's perfect spot to get away and make memories. We have stayed in two cabins, L4 and L10. Both were very accommodating and comfortable. The views of the lake are second to none, the campfire is always a hit with kids for s'mores, the deck is spacious and there weren't any broken boards to worry about. We did have a bear come on the deck at night and he got into our ice chest, but that was our fault, we were warned when we checked in to make sure everything is put inside. Speaking of check in, it was painless and smooth. The people at the check in gate are very friendly and made us feel welcome :) we rented a pontoon boat for a couple hours one day and that was a blast as well! The water this year was extremely cold due to the high amount of snow runoff from the winter, but we still had a great time. We made some good friends in the two cabins next to us, one family had a little girl that played with our son and the other cabin neighbor came over and played guitar for us one evening, what a treat! We love it here and we will definitely be back next year :)

Last time going to this place. This note was left on the truck window this morning. I was here with my children and very few people.

Last minute switch to our plans and found they had a site for us and our TT before the July 4th holiday weekend (Wednesday thru Saturday). We ended up getting a site in the Lakeside loop and could not have been happier. Good size sites, full hookups and a view of the lake. We were told about bears but never encountered or heard of any during our stay. Staff were kind and friendly. Our tween and teen loved the quick walk to the water! The area has mature pine trees and the crowd was families and occasional dogs. Weather was warm 90s during the day but cooled at night. Bathrooms are in need of updating. Old and crumbly. Great general store on site. Our family enjoyed the beach at the lake front and our kids had fun on the floating obstacle course. Lake water was beautiful! Would highly recommend.

We camped here this summer and had a great time! This place is great for families. Lots of conveniences like flushing toilets, hot water, showers, laundromat, store and restaurant. The beach and lake are the highlight of this campground. My kids loved the inflatable play structures and canoe rentals. There were a couple of things that were disappointing. The showers could have been cleaned better. I understand this is in a campground but there were a lot of dead bugs, spiderwebs and dirty floors that looked like they were there a while and could have been easily cleaned up if their maintenance people cared enough. Also, we were disappointed when the campground police came by and told us we had to take down our very small single clothesline that we used to hang our beach towels to dry. They said the owner's wife "didn't like the way it looked".... really?!! It's a freakin lake campground, not a high class hotel! Overall we had a good time and didn't want the few things that bugged us to put a damper on our family vacation. Gorgeous place, fun lake and beach and good for families.

Garbage on the floor when we arrived

I debated between 2 or 3 stars but decided to go lower because the people that work there just don't care about improving anything. Let's start with the positive- this is an absolutely beautiful lake. The water is so clear you can see the rocks and tree stumps on the bottom even in the deep water. The trees and snow covered mountains are amazing to look at while kayaking or swimming. They have a well stocked camp store (rather expensive though) and a yummy on site bar/ grill. The area was quiet at night but family friendly during the day. We rented a cabin for the second time this summer. (After calling for over 2 months and sending multiple emails) We Checked in to L19 at 4:00PM and walked into a dirty cabin. There was trash on the floor, food on the carpet, dirty towels and used soap in the bathroom. Ect. We noticed they didn't give us a key so I went back to pick it up and let them know about the mess. They sent the manager down who apologized but then in the same sentence said he expected it to be much worse as they only had 2 cleaners for 15 cabins. We then had to sweep and clean our own cabin. An hour later we went to cook and there were no pans. This was not the case last time we came so we of course did not bring any. I called and asked if they had any because ours were missing. They sent the manager again and he seamed annoyed and checked every cabinet like I would lie about pans being missing. While he was there I let him know 2 light bulbs and the fridge light were out. He left and later replaced them. After that I didn't call or ask for anything to be fixed and figured I would tell them on the way out. The TV was not working, 3 outlets did not work at all, some kind of rodent was under the cabinets and put holes in all of our food in the cabinets and one of the blinds fell apart when we tried to open the window. When I tried to tell them at checkout (like it asks you to do in the cleaning up instructions) the lady at the front gate cut me off and said they would send maintenance when they had time before I even finished letting them know what the problems are. I get this is a cabin but they are in need of maintenance. I am not expecting a 5 star hotel but the cabins should be cleaned between uses and broken items should be fixed. The most important thing they need to improve is interactions with guests. I am more than willing to bump up a review if they actually care and try to make things right.

Lake Siskiyou: Beautiful Lake and view of Mt Shasta, Staff was friendly...my complaint is with the maintenance and housekeeping of the cabins. We attend a yearly family gathering that has been happening since 1987. We have made so many memories here! We always rent a cabin..It can be pricey, but the beauty and proximity to Lake Siskiyou makes it worth it. There have been housekeeping and maintenance issues in the past since Reynolds took control, and we were hesitant to attend this year due to Corona Virus, but made the very wrong assumption that the place would be somewhat cleaner and in better condition due to the recent virus concerns. No such luck..it was a free for all. The cabin cost us over $1,200.00 to rent for 6 days..the entire place was FILTHY filled with cobwebs and grimy dirty blinds..the vent over the stove was disgusting..thick black dirt everywhere. The screen to the deck had a big hole punched through it and the windows were smeared with grime and god knows what from previous residents. The clean laundered bedding and little shampoo bottles felt like they were just putting lipstick on a pig. And the worst?? Rotten wood and BLACK MOLD on the floor in the bathroom!! What a travesty. If you come to stay here, save your money on the cabin and bring your rv. Bears are rampant in the tent areas and no boxes for security. The deck on the porch was a safety hazzard..loose railing and boards loose and protrudin..nails and screws sticking up..Renter be ware! Premium prices for a broke down and filthy cabin rental

Cody H.

It was only $2 per person for day pass and is worth it for the restrooms, changing rooms, and available food and pay showers. The beach is sandy in parts and kinda rocky like kitty litter in others so make sure to grab a nice spot. Water was refreshing.

Once parked at the lake, you can embark on the moderate trail to Heart Lake. Approaching the lake, the trail is to the left of it and climbs along the lake shore with intermittent views. As you take a gradual but steady climb up, you will start to see views open up and eventually see Mt Shasta itself. Most hikers stop at Heart Lake which is a scenic spot with granite on one side and on the outlet side of the lake for Shasta views. If you're wanting a little bit of a longer hike, when facing the lake, make a right and log hop across its outlet and follow a faint but obvious trail to a rocky outcropping. There you will reach an amazing vista of Castle Lake and Mt Shasta. It's a great spot to have your lunch and take some amazing photos. Take care on the way down as there are some steep drop offs and slippery rocks. Most of the trail is exposed, so I'd go earlier in the day in the warm months. Depending on how far you go, it's 3-4 miles out and back. Wonderful way to have amazing mountain scenery in a short hike. Luckily, we snagged the last remaining first-come-first-serve site (#27). Similar to other campgrounds, you pay at the front by putting your cash in the little envelopes. It's $15/ night here. The site has a picnic bench and a bear box as well as a fire pit. The site was pretty spacious and fairly clean. I also like that the sites aren't super close together so you feel like you have some breathing space from your neighbors. The potable water faucet was also a short walk away (next to the toilets). My only gripe is that the vault toilets weren't cleaned out daily. We stayed here for 3 days/2 nights and they weren't cleaned out at all. I'm assuming they probably empty them and replenish the toilet paper about once a week. Overall, not my favorite campsite of all time, but this is a good alternative if you can't find anything at Fowler's Campground. 3.75

Site #12 was beside the road, and there was some truck noise at night, but being closest to the byway, I was first to see a deer walk through camp at dusk. I put up my azul Ozark Trail tent with the Aerobed queen-size air mattress and made my home for the next few nights. Even though the campground was full, it was quiet, and I felt weird about plugging in my phone with my engine on for a few hours, but I needed have power for the hikes in the morning. Instead of staking the fly open, I staked one in the middle giving me a front door and holding down the tarp in case of wind or rain. If it rains, water will puddle, so look for a convex footprint with your head uphill. Never forget the importance of coverage, even if you don't think it is going to rain. Although water is one of the 10 ways to find magic on the trail, water on dry blankets can drench your sweet dreams. Two nights of chill became a little more rowdy by the weekend and the center campsite became an out-of-school reunion on bikes, scooters and wilderness walks. I love camping during the summer and if you don't like families, I don't recommend you camp in popular areas. When the rain started, it was dinner time and most of the families had retreated to campers, so all I could hear was the pounding droplets on my tent. After a full day of hiking, I was tired and screwed together the JetBoil and gas I picked up from REI for this trip. In less than 5 minutes I was slurping Cup of Noodles, which kept me warm even without the fire. Before it got dark, I escaped away to the secret water hole named for the camp I was staying. With no one else around, I took a breath and looked for the light. It started to sprinkle, and I found myself star-struck by the beauty I could create in my life on my own. C-89 Waterfall Loop is 1 of the 8 trips of magic in northern California and Cattle Camp is a dream campground along the way.

Site 10 seemed like it had a nice lake view. You can see the lake through the trees from site 11. There are no bear boxes! You store food and toiletries in your car at night. Wing wildlife included mosquitoes (light), yellow jackets (heaviest mid morning), and very loud cicadas. My ears were ringing like I went to a loud concert. I have to assume that's seasonal. There's a "boat launch" past the flush toilets near the tent cabins that was nice for setting up a few camp chairs and entering the water in floaties. There were a few other beaches further on but they were full. There was a kerfuffle over an inflatable kayak while we were there so keep an eye on your things! Intimate campground with sloped sites and nice lake access- overall a pleasant stay!

Nice area that has campsites next to the camp road going down to the water. I noticed his and her…read morebathrooms.

You'll receive the warning of bears but have not seen one yet. Continue to practice prevention is highly recommended. Tent or RV full/partial hook-ups are available. Campground is ridiculously large with so many sites available. Our stay was detoxing and an absolute glamping experience. Grab a soft serve at their convenience store and a few rounds of beer next door.

The cabin is not for small kids or people who rub their hands along walls. None of the wood is finished or sanded so splinter heaven. It is dirty and stains around the walls. We loved staying a cabin here, we have always done tent sites before so even though the price is more than I think it should be for the condition of the place we still preferred a cabin over the campsites. It is a bit over priced in my opinion. A small bundle of wood was $15. The stay per night was $187 plus an extra $10 for our 11yr old and $5 for a dog so a total was $368-ish for two nights. They do charge for anyone over 10yrs to stay at the cabins even though the cabins say the hold 4-6people. They charge for more than two people.
