I loved that you can see the chef prepping your food as it is next to the bar. Cool concept and all for it. Now the food. O.M.G. Everything we got was sooo delicious. Escargot in skewers with the most delicious broth- BRILLIANT! The ravioli was so simple but yet so tasty and delicious. I of course enjoyed my steak ans it was cooked for perfection. That salad-- idk what kind of dressing it was but it paired so well with the whole dish. I loved everything about this place and I highly recommend going here if ever in Montreal.

Creamy, smooth, nice texture. Breadcrumbs were delicious. Stracciatella w/ Bottarga (8.5/10): Very unique dish. I loved the bottarga-flavored radish. Added a nice splash of seafood taste into the salad. The stracciatella was amazing. White Asparagus (8.5/10): Very well-executed. Asparagus was tender. The greens on top were nicely charred. Sauce was tasty. Buckwheat Cake (8/10): Excellent cake. Simple, but decadent. Not too sweet either Though this is the top-ranked restaurant in Montreal, I still have to say Beba is my favorite. Although Mon Lapin is good, the service and taste both fall short of Beba's.

I will crave those!! The only critique I have is the duck was a little chewy and could have been a little more crispy/fried. But aside from that everything was amazing and fresh. Also, the wine selection was great. The staff were informative and nice. They timed out all the course perfectly. I told my husband I'd literally fly to out here for 24 hours just to make dinner reservations here and leave the next day. It's expensive but it's very well worth it. Also, the size of the restaurant looks small, but it is very spacious. You don't feel crowded.

See Urbanista as a happy-go-lucky spot in the Plateau Mont-Royal area where music keeps playing and smiles don't stop. Their style is mish-mash but comes together in their own funky way: Cabbage Patch Doll perched up on a shelf, some small decorative palm trees and tchotchkes everywhere. The bar looked is stocked with a nice arsenal of bottles but our Midori Sour and hubs' Jack & Coke drinks were pure juice and no strength. To add, when I tried using my Yelp check-in offer, I was told that they didn't know anything about the offer ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Plus it was almost upsetting that they thought I wanted a 'free' drink when it was actually an 'offer' their business put out. Anyhow. The owner(?) was pleasant and even though she didn't know about the Yelp check-in offer, Urbanista's vibe is really up our alley. Since cocktails didn't wow me, perhaps their bites would've.

Since we were 3, we opted for a table by the window. Got there're around 5:30pm and there was probably 1-2 more tables. By 8pm, it was packed on a Wednesday so it's a good sign! The good menu is not very big and they are tapas style meant to share. Started with the mouse de foie de volaille...probably the best one I had in my life! So good that I had to order a second. Also tried the beetroot also delicious. Homemade pasta was also very good...Al dente. The radis mackerel dish was meh...you can skip that one. The eggplant dish was alright... They have an extensive wine list and pricing is very reasonable. Asked our waiter to recommend 2 bottles that would pair with our food and they were $65 and $75. This is not the kind of pricing you will find in a wine bar downtown or old port. Would definitely come back for the ambiance, wine but really for the mousse de volaille

It was around 3pm and of course we were the only people there, but generally didn't find the service to be that friendly or accommodating - it was more courteous and efficient as opposed to being very welcoming, which is totally fine. Overall, like many wine bars in Montreal, the BTG and bottle list skews very heavily toward natural or minimal intervention wines from all over the world (except the United States due to tariff boycotts). Although Quebec is a burgeoning wine producing region (often overshadowed by BC wines from Okanagan and ON ice wines), I found many lists did not offer much from the region, which is really disappointing. vinvinvin definitely had the most options available (perhaps 5-6 total of 40-50+ labels) and many BTG, which is great if you're looking to try some local wines. They do offer food, but the kitchen doesn't open until 4pm so we didn't try anything. Overall, I like the decor of the place and it seems like it'd be a really fun place to hang out with friends. But given that we were the only clients there at the time, I wish the service was a bit friendlier.

We ordered the halibut which was a well balanced and composed dish with sweet Montreal corn, delicate fish, and briny clams. We also had the lobster pasta and this was too salty for my personal taste. The sauce was overwhelmingly salty and the pasta itself was too al dente for me with too much extra chewing. The lobster was perfectly cooked, however. They have both outdoor and indoor seating with a chic bar counter and tight tables. Cute place with good French cooking.

Menu for food wasn't extensive, more for snacking than dining imo. Server came back with fries and our drinks. My drink was surprisingly good, I had to make sure there was no alcohol, since I could taste somewhat of gin in there, but there wasn't! The fries were hot and fresh, so good! I found the cuisine to be vibrant and healthful, with bright and energizing flavors that were well executed overall. The staff are knowledgable about the menu and dish conception, and generally pleasant and friendly to converse with. (Jacqual: B) - Simply presented drink that features hibiscus and citrus with zero proof beer, which I found fascinating. The beer notes are in the background prevailed by the sourness of the other components, where I wish there was a little more added sweetness. (Fried Maitake: A) - Perfectly seasoned dish with tender and high surface area mushrooms coated in an impressly crisp batter given the moisture usually found in mushrooms. The seasoning could not be better with the salt and spice combo; the chive and parsley mayo also add an herbaceous depth of flavor. (Heirloom Tomatoes: A) - Pefectly plated tomatoes with a surprising sunflower seed forward profile given the subtleness of the ingredient; the dish is well balanced and brings out the harmonious flavors of the garden, although I think the bites with flake salt had that even more perfect note. (Hanger Steak: A+) - Beautifully perfected cut of beef with Asian inspiration; the steak is juicily pink with a charred exterior; the carrot ginger puree has a lovely mild and lingering spice, with some additional spice coming from the shishito and the pickled jalapeno. Beautiful dish.
