Updating my previous review: Overall As expected, Knub's Pub has overcome some of the roughness of their first month, and has turned into a very good place to grab some pub grub. Service has improved dramatically since my first visit, and now Knub's rolling. Their specialty burgers are the best item on the menu an very tasty, but everything is worth a try. Stopped in for a late afternoon lunch after my son's orthodontist appointment. Figured 45 minutes was plenty of time to grab a burger in an empty restaurant. I even paid right after we ordered so we could eat and leave. Well, 30 minutes later, I had to ask the bartender to have the food made to go because we hadn't seen our waitress since we ordered. It took almost 10 more minutes and a visit from someone, the cook or maybe the owner, trying to make small talk. For food that was supposedly just prepared, the fries weren't hot and were overly seasoned with a salt and herb mix. The cheeseburger was picture perfect, but absolutely bland. How is even cheddar cheese bland?? I will say that the patty was thick and juicy, the brioche bun stunning. Overall, an absolutely disappointing and infuriating experience. If I hadn't already paid with my card, I would have just walked out. My son even apologized for suggesting it and said we should have just gone to Sonic. I agree--Just go to Sonic. read more

We decided to try Knub's Pub for the first time today and had an overall great experience! We loved the atmosphere and the owner was there are very attentive! We got a bucket of bud lights for $11. We ordered the nachos and 10 Adobo wings. The nachos were amazing! Tons of toppings!! The wings were okay. They are baked which is fine but they weren't super crispy like I prefer them. The sauce was delicious though! We will definitely be back I just won't be ordering the wings again. We are excited to try their burgers next time! Thanks again for amazing service.. Went here since it's close to my house to watch the Kstate game. The pinball machines were super fun to play while we waited for our food. Their beer bucket specials are great and so is their food! I would totally recommend this place to anyone for a good, casual time. read more

We came here after church on a Sunday evening and it was pretty busy little place. We were a party of 7 and seated at a high top. I usually hate high top tables but these weren't bad because the seats had backs, a place to put your feet and were well cushioned. Our waitress Shelby was also the bartender which sometimes means sub-par service but not for us. She was great! Drinks were refilled before we asked, food came out promptly and hot. I shared a stovepipe burger with my hubby. DELICIOUS!!! And huge. Definitely enough to share. I sampled the mushrooms and onion rings which were both really good. I also had one of my daughters buffalo wings and a bite of my mom's pork tenderloin. Everything was awesome. My mom is a pork tenderloin connoisseur and she rates this one right under Christy's but above Roni's. The row of pinball machines is neat, my nephews had fun playing with those. We just recently moved to west Shawnee and found this hidden gem! I had heard that their wings are delish so we had to try it! On Thursdays, they do wing night and wings are half off! The first time we went we just ordered them as normal but then I heard that you need to order them double baked and charred with their dry rub. GAME CHANGER!! They were excellent. I'm a huge sauce person, so I am always up to trying different sauces and comparing them to other local places. Knubs Pub buffalo sauce is the best I have ever had. Even better than The Peanuts buffalo. Its creamy and just so full of flavor. My mouth is watering as I'm typing about it. The other night I decided to try something a little different, so I ordered their version of the Reuben. Hands down, best reuben I have ever had. Its like they shred their meat, cheese and sauce and then throw it on a marbled rye bread. It was so full of flavor. I'm so glad that Knubs is so close. Service here is usually pretty good for a bar setting, too! read more

The chicken nachos were very good, it was very loud hard to carry on a conversation. The tenderloin was the star of the show. Service could use some work. Unless you are drinking heavily it can be difficult to get a drink. read more

I was visiting from out of town and had a small group of people looking to get a bite to eat. When we showed up, I found the staff very friendly and helpful. The food was outstanding. I highly recommend the bagpipe (Reuben) which is likely the best Reuben I've ever eaten. I can't wait to go back there in a few weeks and order the same thing! read more

Chicken Tenders are fantastic, burgers are big and tasty, but service is lacking. Been three times and host/servers left bad impression of the way this place is managed. If the owner would get a decent management team, this place could do some major business. read more

We had a softball team in tonight (16 parents and girls) who had 45 min to eat and get back to the fields. The staff at Knub's Pub were amazing and the food was AWESOME! The food was very expensive for bar food. The food was okay. The onion rings had WAY too much breading (I rarely meet an onion ring I don't like, so that's something). My husband asked for mayo for his pork tenderloin and the server who dropped the food off (not our actual server) shot him a dirty look. My husband said, "The wings looked good," but we all agreed there will be no rush to go back. We could have eaten at Pizza West in the same strip mall for a fraction of the price and had way better food. #notimpressed read more

We tried this place today and I'm giving 5 stars even though the fried picked were heavy coated with batter. The reason I gave 5 stars is because the service was so good, the beef I had melted in my mouth, the corn beef my husband had melted in his mouth. It's a pub so don't expect ribeye. The owner asked our opinion of the place and the food. It was so refreshing to have the owner ask for critique. The decor is fun and unique. We've heard great things about the food, and the tvs at each table are cool, as are the pinball machines. But the service is absolutely horrible. My inlaws ate here a few weeks ago... really liked the food, but it took the server about 30 minutes to bring their drinks. We tried to go tonight, sat at our table without so much as a hello for a bit before we got up and left (and came down to Pizza West which I think is the same owner). We don't mind waiting, especially if the place is busy, but it was very empty and a few employees walked by without even saying a word. Might try again in a few weeks. read more

This place has excellent Rubin sandwiches. The fries and coleslaw are very good also. The fries are cut and fried when you order. The coleslaw is not too sweat, the taste is crunchy and fresh. Oh yes, the meat for the Rubin is prepared on site, no processed junk. This is a great place. read more

Knubs Pub was the place to be on a Friday night, they were packed. There are some flaws in the layout that are apparent when they are busy. The path to the pinball tables is inconvenient when the tables are full. The hostess didn't seem very preoccupied with hosting, moreover with chatting with her friend. A man who I assume is the manager was frantically running around trying to assist servers and make sure things were going smoothly, I also assume he was helping in the kitchen because he had a dirty apron on which he didn't not remove before coming to front of house. He also appeared to be kind of disheveled. Once we were seated we noticed there are no printed beer menus, our server informed us that we could use our phones to look online at what they had. I felt like they should have a printed menu if they're going to boast about their beer selection, I'm certain this would also increase their alcohol purchases. For apps we had the fries cheese curds and fried mushrooms. The mushrooms were REALLY GOOD. The cheese curds had a little too much breading for my taste. I had the mushroom bother which was also REALLY GOOD, kind of messy to eat, but worth the mess. My friend had the baked chicken wings and really enjoyed them. She and I both liked the sauce on them. The service was fine, it would probably be better during a less busy time. If I loved closer I would probably make it back as most of the for was really good. My husband and I ate here for lunch today. I had a fried chicken blt and it was great! We can't remember what his was called but it was brisket, fries, grilled onions and cheese sauce on a hoagie. Wow! What a great dinner at Knubs tonight. The shrimp dinner for two was exceptional! Two for 30.99 with half price bottles of wine. Now who does that!?! The Meal was, grilled shrimp and a healthy amount of grilled shrimp, along with a healthy portion of Fingerling Potatoes, and Shish-kabob veggies. In addition some of the best grilled Asparagus I've ever had. You then shared desert, we had the Bread Pudding with chocolate chips, delicious! I could have spent twice that and got much less. A very good night of surprisingly great food, great conversation, which goes easy with an exceptional meal, half price wines and a delicious desert at a price I could not do anywhere else! The best way to describe Knubs Pub is delicious gourmet bar food. There aren't a lot of restaurants that I'll take my family to, but it seems the locally owned ones with owners that are actually involved in the day to day business tend to be the best. My only issue is sometimes the service is slow. Knubs Pub is definitely one of them. Quality food with some creative recipes and great service. I went last night on "wing night." They bake the wings which I assume is to make them healthier. What comes out are chicken wings with rubbery, fatty skin and lumps of fat in them. It would have helped had they steamed some fat out before baking them or set them under a broiler to crisp them up before serving. Also, there was hardly any seasoning on them. It looked as though they had been gingerly tossed in sauce, then as the wings got hot and began to sweat fat sauce kind of rolled off. The blue cheese dressing had no pieces of blue cheese. It had been pureed to a thin sauce. The burger on ciabatta was fine, it was certainly nothing special. Prices are on the high side. The philly and the pork tenderloin were $10.99 on the menu. Pepperjax, by comparison, charges $7.29 for a Philly and Johnny's Tavern will hit you for $8.29 on a pork tenderloin. Finally, the menu reads terribly. Everything is abbreviated, which reads fine on a ticket, but not so great on a menu (Chz Burger w Mozz Chz?) and some things are simply unfamiliar. For instance, if I told you something came with Bacon Crystals and Horseface Sauce, could you with 100% certainty tell me what that is? I realize it's an attempt to be playful and laid back, but it comes off as confusing. If you're going to do that, put a glossary so people don't have to bother a server to find out Bacon Crystals are just homemade bacon bits. All in all I was disappointed that a restaurant that finally opened near me serves over priced, sub par food. read more

I was able to enjoy a South Pacific burger with grilled pineapple. It was pretty tasty. The service was a little slow and not a lot of patrons at the time, but when we received our food it was hot and tasted fresh. I will probably visit there again. This place is amazing! After seeing this place recommended on Facebook, we dropped by. It is now our new favorite hangout. The wings were sooooo good! My husband loves wings and I can take em or leave em. After tasting these, I love Knub's Pub's wings. Oven baked so they are nice and crispy, and full of flavor. My husband's pork tenderloin was HUGE! He cut in half and then stacked it together.The salads my friend and I ordered were perfect! They have pinball machines and TVs at the tables. First visit was ok. And I really want this place to succeed. A Wednesday night....place was 50-75% full. We had the wings...cause we love wings....they were oven baked which I love...but they were not at all crispy. My son gave them an accurate 4 out of 10.. His kids meal was priced right at $3.99, but his strips were just OK, fries were soggy and lemonade tasted like a powder mix. My beers were cold. The beer selection was good. Wednesday was $5 martini's. The Staff was friendly, but service could have been much better. The atmosphere was....well....odd. I have seen bigger bars at Hilton Garden Inn's...it only sat about 6 people. I will give them some time to improve then try it again. I did not see what their other specials were.... read more

I've been in twice in the last week (today with the wife), and they are killing it on the burgers. fry game is pretty solid also. Sat outside on a busy night to get a table. A literal army of stubborn flies totally swarmed us and it was miserable. Couldn't get out of there fast enough. I had fish and chips, subbing sweet potato fries for regular. It was just Ok. My son had a specialty burger and thought it was also "ok". Ordered a second beer and it never came. I will give it a second chance to see if I can determine why they were so swamped with business. We are desperate for decent restaurant choices in Western Shawnee. read more
