Hubs found another "happy place" in SD County! Knowhere G&C is located in an industrial area of San Marcos, near an antique mall, several home furnishings stores and next to San Marcos Deli. This seems an ideal location, with plenty of free parking and, judging by the flow of pedestrian traffic in and out of this shop on a "Comic Book Wednesday" many customers agree. Hubs declared a large selection of comics, games and collectibles. He proudly emerged over an hour after parking with a smile on his cute nerdy face and a bag filled with reading materials in his hand. He was very surprised and happy that his purchase amount ~$80TL awarded him with a cool graphic novel. Happiness shortly turned to a bit of confusion when he took a moment to peruse his receipt and discovered he had been charged about 4x the amount he should have been for a comic. He checked online to make sure he didn't grab a ltd edition, or special release, and determined he hadn't. I waited while he returned inside. About 10 minutes he reemerged - HAPPY AGAIN! Seems the clerk, Daniel (guessing from the receipt ), didn't catch it and agreed it had been incorrectly priced. He further apologized saying he usually catches the comics over $20 and confirms the customer is aware when they are purchasing a more expensive issue. So Daniel was sorry he missed that completely. Hubs confirmed that he was still ok receiving the free graphic novel and was assured, yes, his purchase amount still qualified for the free novel. The over charge was returned to Hubs and he was happy with the store, Daniel and his customer service. Knowhere G&C has been bookmarked for our future SD road trips. Cheers! "CC" read more

The staff is the best and I really appreciate all they do. They have a game area in the back, huge back issue section and plenty of unique items that excite even me. I would have given this place a 5 a few years ago. They have gone so far downhill that it has become horrible. "Treat you customers well, and they will treat you well" -Mathias I believe he was truthful when he said this. But I have never seen a group of people treat their customers so horribly, and not stay true to their ideals. They have flat out lied about events, having very poor coordination on pokémon events. I used to go to their GLC, main pokemon tournament s, and their build and battle. Their prices have become obscene, and this used to be fine because of the good quality of the people. There is only one good person there and it is Jake, thank you for the reason to come back. If he wasn't there I would have stopped going a long time ago. The cards they sell for singles, are marked sometimes DOUBLE above their market price. They don't just sell at market they sell at more. The value of this place is horrible, the community has fallen, everything about this place has become gross. I wanted to like this store but there were a couple things that left a bad taste in my mouth... 1. I asked the person working if I could get a discount for buying a bunch of old stock and he told me he couldn't make that call. So why not call the guy who can? 2. They charged me for bags and boards without even asking, or mentioning it. I bought a bunch of books and it cost me 30¢ per book because they charged me for the bags and boards. If it's already bagged and boarded, it's assumed the bag and board are part of the price. But if it's not, how do you not tell me you're dinging me? I've never seen a store do that before. I frequent Knowhere games as a card collector and Pokémon tcg player. I have usually had good experiences here prices are fair (msrp for Pokémon cards) but I feel compelled to post about prismatic evolution release. I'm sad to see that knowhere games has gone toward market pricing sealed products! And to top that to qualify to purchase at double the msrp price you have to make a $10 purchase to even be put into a lottery for a chance to purchase at double the msrp! Shame on knowhere for doing this! I've heard it from the owner before "take care of your customers and they will return the favor" well this cash grab is opposite of that. I know this product has a high demand but more than double msrp is too much. And the lottery on top of that to get as much people entering for a chance to get ripped off is a slap in the face to the loyal customers of knowhere. read more

What a neat place!! We came here to look around. The store is pretty big and has plenty of space to browse. We took our time to look around. They also have a separate area for card tournaments. They have a lot of comics, collectibles, and all sorts of games. They keep all areas and displays neat and organized. I'd say the prices are very fair and we're happy to support establishments like this! The staff are friendly and very helpful! He answered all of our questions. This is a nice little comic book store that caters to specific needs of the Collector. I ran out of bags and boards picked up a huge golden age collection. Nobody had inventory. I was so pissed but someone told me about this nowhere and I took a shot. They had four cases of bags and boards. I mean, they had such deep inventory of supply. I was astounded. Knowhere Games & Comics is the ultimate Local Comic Shop. The selection is large and well curated, the staff is friendly and very knowledgeable, and the prices are more than reasonable. Every Wednesday they get in a new shipment of comics for the week and will even let you preorder comics that you want to make sure you don't miss. They will also let you "subscribe" to a comic and they will pull every new issue for you. I'm a big fan of their Facebook streams as well so don't miss those. The owner publishes a video every week and tells you about the key issues coming out for the week and they will add them to their orders for the week to make sure you get the issues you want. What collector wouldn't want the inside scoop on key issues from the extremely knowledgeable owner of a comic book store? All in all I give them 6 stars. This is one of the best shops in all of Southern California, not just San Marcos. The diverse array of comics, collectibles, books, manga and graphic novels, trading card games, table-top RPGs, apparel, and everything in between is always changing and fun to shop. Friday Night MTG, D&D, Pokemon, and other in-store events have a genuinely welcoming crowd. As a woman, it can be difficult to find comic/game stores that don't have a regular group of customers who start uncomfortable interactions, from questions to "prove" you know enough to wear a certain shirt to lewd behaviors. A friend was trying to sell his comic with the first appearance of Moon Knight, and the fellow helping him to get it CGCed lives close to San Marcos, so we stopped in here while we were in town. The store is bright, clean, and Mathias was very friendly and knowledgeable about the products on the shelves. I wasn't looking to buy anything, but there were some good looking books up, and they were described to me in such an enthusiastic manner that I couldn't help but pick up a few. I went in yesterday and today to get myself some Pokemon cards. All the employees were very kind and we're glad to help me in my purchase. You can not only find current packs out, but they also sell singles. They have a really nice deal where you can get a repack of 20 cards at a great price, and there's a chance you can get a prize like a free $3 card or a free repack. I got like 10 of these and they had really great condition pokemon cards that ranged from 2013-2022 which was awesome because I was looking for cards from every year after 2008. I went in last night for the first time in a while (I used to go in sporadically to get Dragonball Super cards). My wife and I just started playing Magic The Gathering again and were looking for some singles. We brought our two kids with us (worth noting they are pretty well behaved for being 2 and 5 - and we are good about watching them like hawks in places like game stores). There was a handful of people playing Magic - and a couple people playing video games. We were never greeted by the employee (about 10 minutes of wandering around/standing at the counter looking at the product on the wall) when we finally were greeted it was something along the lines of "what are you looking for" I told him we were just getting back into Magic Commander and looking for some cards. Overall he was just disinterested in helping at best and rude at worse. I had purchased some small Marvel ball figurines for my kids ($1 each) as he was ringing them up my daughter (5) looked at him and said "I have a blue one" he just looked at her and roughly said sarcastically 'great, I already saw that' Good amount of product, store seem organized and clean (the tables were a mess of video games could have just been the day though). I just won't be back any time soon due to the blasé at best rude at worse customer interaction. read more

"Know where" is correct when describing where this place is located; in the middle of no where. First off, this place is expensive and extremely hard to find. 2nd, the customer service is nonexistent. The lady behind the counter was rude and to busy staring at her computer to even realize we had enter. There was no one in the store and I'm sure it is normally empty most hours of the day, so the one time that someone enters the establishment you would think they would be greeted, but we were not. I strolled the store for around 10min. Touching various items as I moved about. Every item was priced incorrectly or over priced. Selling Pokémon cards from McDonald's for 5$ should be outlawed. I personally will never buy from this store, and if you can even locate this shop, I would advise you go to any and all other gaming stores before you come here! read more

I wanted a specific manga and they are able to place custom orders. I ordered a volume of one piece Manga and took about 1 1/2 weeks to get shipped to the store. I love how chill the workers are. They are knowledgeable and into all the manga and comics there. I will be back to buy more manga very soon! read more

I used to be really into comics back when I was younger, and I recently got the bug again. This store makes it easy to do that. They do a good job of catering to both the new comic shopper and the serious collectors who have been into them forever. They have a great selection of titles, and selections made by employees regarding obscure titles from smaller publishers. They seem to have artist/author signings quite often, and other events that should appeal to all sorts of tastes, like magic tournaments, etc. One of the employees here is a bit like Comic Book Guy from the Simpsons, for authenticity's sake I suppose. The other three people I have dealt with are really eager to discuss products and make recommendations. They definitely love what they are selling and it shows. The girl who works here (I ought to find out her name) is especially helpful and enthusiastic. She has turned me on to a few titles I otherwise wouldn't have looked into. She is awesome. The way they package the comics is proper. Other stores use just a cheap plastic sleeve and tape it up, in order to get you to spend money on decent packaging. But Knowhere uses higher quality self-sealing sleeves with cardboard backing, because that's how people like it. It's a nice touch and deserves recognition. I usually spend more than I planned on here, because they make it easy to do. But I haven't regretted it. This is a top-notch shop, better than the ones I used to frequent years ago, not intimidating at all to visit and ask questions. Very refreshing! read more
