I go to a lot of comic book shops and Comics-N-Stuff has the potential to be great, but just doesn't have the organization to get there. They have multiple locations and each one is packed with fun and interesting stuff. They have everything a comic fan would want. Comics, trades, shirts, figures, statues, etc. Problem is each store is just unorganized with memorabilia all over the place. It's hard to find things and stuff is out of order. There isn't a logical layout. The other thing that bugs me is pricing on stuff is just inconsistent or wrong. I understand marking things up for the person who might not be familiar, but you are only hurting your store in the process because like most retail shops people will just opt to buy it cheaper online(or find it for less at a different place in the mall). Also, there is dust everywhere. I'm sympathetic that they probably don't have the staff to keep everything tight and that the store can look disheveled due to all the foot traffic, but show that you care! They moved to a smaller location in the mall and the store does look better than it did, but the fact that Ninja Exchange is right next store and is wildly popular on the weekends should make Comics-N-Stuff take a long look in the mirror. They could be getting a lot of the Ninja Exchange people Monday-Thursday if they capitalized. Running a business, let alone a comic shop, is difficult in this day n age. I will stop in to try to support every now and then, but it is hard when you get the sense that the love isn't there. read more

The guy at the register was not very friendly, interacted with him 2 times and both times he acted the same, didn't really have a choice on who to check out with because he was at the register. Other than that, big store, lots of cool stuff. Id still recommend, they just need to have people there that know how to interact with the public. Shouldn't work in retail if you don't like people. read more

The selection is gigantic. And, that is great if you are only interested in one specific thing. But, if you're trying to get some helpful advice from the staff, then you're at the wrong store. Because it is so huge and stuff is all over the store (and the staff is more concerned with chatting and giving vague answers like "Yeah, there's Walking Dead stuff kinda all over. We don't have one section for it." - Well, that didn't help me at all. When asked about something like a Hydroflask with the Walking Dead on it, I didn't even get past the word "Hydroflask" before I was cut off and told "Nope. We don't carry anything like that here." and then they went back to doing nothing. Wasn't shown an alternative or something similar. Nope. Wasn't even pointed in a general vicinity! I used to like going in there to shop even though I don't like going to the mall. Now I know why it was so empty in there. I think I'll just go to a store where it's a little more friendly. read more

My search for Funko Pop continues south of Orange County in Carlsbad. This small business is located inside the Carlsbad mall, on the 2nd floor next to Sears. The mall is sad and going though a facelift, and there's plenty of construction to make it difficult to gain access to this place. Walking in, this is a big comic / collectible store. The staff is friendly but not overly helpful. If you need something, you need to seek someone to help you. The prices are competitive (at least for the Funko's) but what irks me is they put the price tag on the front of the box, on the plastic. I don't know why they can't put it on the bottom or top of the box, so that there's no gummy residue on the front. I was able to find 2 Funko's that were not in my collection. The boxes are in mint condition, and not even dusty. Kudos to them for keeping their store clean. read more

After leaving the cashier followed me out into the mall and accused me, with my young child with me, of stealing a cheap mask that I won from the fair-style store a few spots down. Then when I told her I didn't, instead of apologizing she just said "huh" and walked away.. implying that I was lying. She had no problem insulting me in front of my kid for an item that I was clearly not stealing (walked in holding it, walked out holding it, wasn't concealing it or anything). But she wasn't even paying attention when I walked into that maze of a "store, otherwise she would have seen that. Also tbh it seemed to be more of a professional swap meet than anything. Good if you like comic books, everything else seems overpriced and not family friendly at all. read more

With over 200,000 comic book back issues onsite, there has to be a stack of titles you desperately need. And, while you're there, you'll certainly want to paw through rows and rows of collectibles, vintage toys, T-shirt's, and just about everything you'd hope to find at San Diego Comic-Con. The store doesn't offer much in the way of original art (for that you will have to visit your local con) and they're light on Gold Age and Bronze Age editions, but did you really expect to find those in a comic book store located in a failing shopping mall? Of course not. Nevertheless, if you love comics and you need to fill in some holes in your collection or you need to stay current with new issues or a geek you love needs a gift, this is a place you definitely need to visit. read more

Absolutely in awe at the selections here. From Foreign monies and Funko Pops to GI Joe collectables and row upon row of comics. Probably the most well stocked Comics store I have ever been in. This store is awesome they have a little bit of everything ranging from comic books, cards of everything ( Baseball from 90's, Garbage Pail Kids, etc) they have action figures from everything I could think of I saw it! The monopoly section has soo many different versions I didn't know what one I wanted! They have a old currency section that had a few good pieces and pretty much any merchandise you can think of from superheroes to movies this is definitely a nerds paradise and one of the coolest stores in this mall! read more

I've been visiting comics n stuff since I was a kid and i'm super grateful my kids get to enjoy it as well. This shop is huge but gives you a cozy vibe with all that they pack in here. From comics to coins, you can find just about anything for someone or just cause. I've bought everything from comics, pokémon cards, action figures, to collectible US coins. Even if you're not hunting for anything this place is fun just to walk around and soak in everything. Service has always been great. I personally prefer not to be "sold" on something and I have never once been pressured to buy anything here. It's very relaxed and if you need help anyone of the employees kind and often times knowledgeable in whatever you're looking for. I love Pokémon but i'm not as familiar with other animes so when i needed help finding a figurine of a particular anime character the staff at Comics N Stuff were super helpful. I will say to please keep in mind that a shop this big with multiple locations and staff does most likely carry a costly overhead which results in potential markups in price. Sure, there are some things you can find cheaper online however I encourage you to look around here and possibly support the in-person experience if you can. I won't forget my kids reactions when they visited this store and how much they look forward to it when we visit here. I personally have seen comic shops go out of business and if we can occasionally support the shops that's do remain, why not? read more

However, I don't fall into either the DC or the Marvel camps. Don't get me wrong, as I think both DC and Marvel are great, but I've always been more of a fringe sort of reader, focusing more on indie titles like the ones from Dark Horse. And because of this, I think Comics-n-Stuff is a great store to get lost in. Any one of their stores (as a side note, there are seven spread out across San Diego county) is a wealth of imagination offering the hot trendy titles as well as the off the wall titles that you run into unexpectedly and are left scratching your head thinking, "what the heck is that?" I think it's great to be able to find stores like this one still around, as many independent bookstores are closing their doors as corporate giants like Amazon take over. As a child of the '70s, growing up most stores had a comic book rack next to the magazines - and it was an adventure the first of every month when the new titles came out. Those days are gone, but thankfully there are a few places scattered about, where the adventure is still very much alive and you can still experience that old school feeling of amazement - Comics-n-Stuff delivers in spades. They have all major comic titles and many hard to find ones as well. Of course they also carry a diverse line of graphic novels, collectibles (pop and vinyl figurines) gaming materials, and even some clothing. All the best new releases every Wednesday, plus a massive selection of back issues and collected editions- and cases upon cases of collector editions and rare finds And- best of all- incredibly friendly and helpful staff! Totally defies the stereotype of the pretentious "comic book guy." This is the biggest comic book store I've ever come across. It's pretty stellar. It's weird to think of a comic book store in a mall of all places...I thought it would be impersonal and the people working there would just be a warm body looking for a job with no knowledge of comics. If Heaven was a place on Earth for comic book fans, it would this store (and the other six locations scattered across San Diego County). Seriously, I remember my first time in 2015 and it's like the Promise Land. It's kinda like taking San Diego Comic-Can into a department store (just no cosplayers or photo ops with celebrities). It has a lot more than just comic books. They have various collectibles (toys, trading cards, and coins), a lot of merchandise (pins, t-shirts, puzzles, etc.), board games, manga, the whole nine yards. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. read more

Good stuff, but keep in mind they don't do refunds. They hope you notice one of the 5 signs they have hand drawn at the counter, they don't tell you there are no refunds. Hell, it's not even on the receipt. The some of merchandise is dirty and banged up. For example they keep some plushes, they look like they were rolled around in dirty before they were shelved. Even if you collect things I wouldn't go here for more than comics. Bought something the kid didn't like it, box wasn't broke or anything, they said we'll give you store credit, I don't have any need to some back to this store and they bleeping my money. I think that's such a rip off. Just be cautious when you go here. read more

Pretty bummed to give this place a one star, but I could not let this one go without leaving my honest opinion. I've been visiting this location with my husband for the past 2 years and this is the first time I had to turn around and walk out due to the "customer service" or lack there of. I'm leaving this review after we had left the mall at around 6:30, so this is concerning the night staff. A few of the workers there are really nice and usually greet us since we have been coming here at least once a week (we have a frequent buyers card too). I sometimes see them off task and chatting with each other which isn't too much of a big deal since work related chat I feel is okay. But this instance was ridiculous and really upset my husband to the point where he insisted we leave. We were passing by one of the display cases, interested in one of the items they had stocked behind the case (not inside) and a few steps back. The display case in front of me had a few comics left out and a clip board tossed on top as if one of the workers had left it there. My husband and I aren't much of the western comic type so we took a quick glance as we were passing, not really interested enough to even open them so we left them and started to walk on. Next thing I know we're being yelled at by the rather loud and annoying blue/haired employee. "Don't touch those comics you guys!! They're not for sale, I haven't put them away because... I'm over here and I got... distanced!" she yells over at us and her other coworkers go silent. She goes back to taking to them about Comic Con this past weekend leaving an overall bad vibe with the place. She left her current task of organizing those comics to talk to her coworkers instead, all the while leaving the product out and unattended to to be damaged or looked through. The fact that we just simply walked by and looked down was enough for her to yell from over at the register and scare the shit out of us. I've read previous reviews about this employee being an issue and I experienced it first hand today. Whenever she works I never see her on task. Mostly taking and not doing much else. I think I've only seen her legitimately do something work related once, but still took breaks to look at her phone and watch videos or browse. I don't know if she proceeded her conversation with the rest or stopped and finished her job of organizing those comics. Which I feel her boss would be very upset to know of her negligence and off-putting customer service. But I don't really care to find out because I will never give this place my business again. Unless she gets fired or something cause she seriously sucks. I guess I'll purchase those $100 figures online and wait for them to ship. I'd rather wait than run into this rude nerd again read more

This is the most unfair business I've ever been to. I sold my entire collection of action figures and accessories to comics and stuff. I was desperate to pay my rent. I believe based on the amount of money that the manager offered me that he saw my desperation. I was paid no more than 4 dollars per item. For example, I went back in and saw an item that they purchased from me for 1 dollar they repriced in the stored for 10 dollars. Im a disabled combat veteran and i suffer with Ptsd. I now know the value of those items and can see just how bad they screwed me over. This shows how unfair they treat the people they do business with. I am no longer going to give them any business. read more

I went here a few ago weeks, there was a girl with blue hair and on her phone, I has asked her about a comic I was searching for, she tells me go to the letter M section, and go thru it, there won't be a tag for each comic. She really just wanted to go back to her phone. She didn't offer to look for it, or even mention if she had heard of the comic. I was a little taken back with her comment, before I went and ask her, I was already looking for it in the comic section, going thru all the comics in said letter "M", She was just rude, also while being in the shop, there were other customers looking for comics, and she didn't get off her phone at all, she didn't even greet the other customers. I have been to the other Comic N Stuff store in Escondido and I got excellent customer service, and I got someone that actually gave a damn, about their customers. He actually asked if anyone heard of the comic I was looking for and in the end, there was one in store, and it was actually the comic I was searching for. But in regards to this store, it was just crappy, I ended up putting back the comics I was going to buy because of the rude employee. My advice would be just don't expect any great service, but at least they have a huge selection in comics. But I would rather go to a small shop with excellent customer service than a huge store with crappy service. read more

A lot of the items here are insanely overpriced and the only good thing about this store is it's a good price comparison to check with online sites. My main issue with this store is how rude the workers are. I would not recommend anyone giving their business to this store just on the basis of how unprofessional, biased, and absolutely rude their employees are. As other Yelpers have probably stated, this store is HUGE. You might find what you're looking for, you might not. There are a few paper trades I haven't found here BUT I have found at one of their many other San Diego locations. The employees are nice - there's one in particular I see every time I'm there (which is Wednesday...New comics, duh), and she's always been courteous and helpful. It's also conveniently located near one of the mall entrances so I could walk in, purchase my pulls, leave, and enjoy my wonderful comics. First impression was I died and went to nerd heaven. From low-end collectible to coins to cards to graded comic books. This store has it all and prices are fair to a collector. Was really unimpressed with the customer service. Walked around for 30 minutes, nobody even made eye contact or acknowledged me. Funny part is I'm interested in investing in expensive collectibles but I'll take my business somewhere else. Seems like the workers are more involved with watching YouTube videos on their phones and chatting amongst themselves or doing mundane tasks than talking to people who want to buy something or forging customer relationships. Bad first impression, could probably get the same or better customer service clicking buy it now on eBay or checking out on Amazon. When or if I come back I'll make sure to bump up my rating if my experience is better. read more

A huge collection of comics and toys, etc! I go here every Wednesday for my new comics. The staff is OK, not very friendly, (young/shy) but could be worse. One did suggest my buying a membership discount card for cheap, that has saved me maybe $100 in just a few months! So that was pretty awesome. I have visited all the surrounding comic shops and this one is still the best. The others have very high prices on back issues and ignore you completely. After them seeing me once a week for 5 months they now sometimes almost remember my name, sometimes. HA! Oh, I asked them if they saw the new Joker movie, they said no, they didn't really like the Joker character. I told them how good it was etc. Maybe I should be working there instead? Sometimes they bag and board the comics you buy but its random. Actually I only blame the manager, if they have one. read more

BIG store! Phenomenal selection! I remember the little downtown comic book/trading card stores of my youth and they seem to be nothing in comparison to Comics-N-Stuff! This store has friendly and helpful staff that genuinely know their merch and will hold pretty stimulating conversation with you in regard to what you're a) looking for or b) what you are purchasing. Clearly comics ('n stuff) are their lifestyles and this location hired accordingly. I enjoy getting their emails about deals and events. I get all of my Walking Dead comics from here. Prices are so reasonable, how can I not? I can honestly stroll into this store just to browse, not even to buy. There's so much to look at; something for everyone! read more

I spent two hours digging through the back issues that were well organized. This is by far the largest collection of collectibles I have ever seen in a store. And, they have some of everything! I was blown away by how big and full this comic book store was. It literally had everything a nerd/geek could want. I was able to pick up a few back issues I was missing. A 37 year old geek's wet dream! My son and I nearly fainted at the sight of this place. As a long time lover of comics and collector of toys I have to say this is the most impressive store I have ever been in. They had both new and old toys...carded and not. Comics galore! Shirts as far as the eye could see. Collectibles and cards....for both young and old...boys and girls. I can spend a month's paycheck in this place without blinking an eye. Comics n HELLA stuff! Not the place for geeky collectors to window shop unless youre a masochist. This store has everything you could want: old stuff, new stuff, stuff youve always wanted, stuff you didnt know you wanted. I could list at least 3 items Id been scouring the Internet for that id found less expensive here. I could also list items I couldnt find except on ebay at inflated prices. Ive also been to the smaller location in La Mesa. They both have about the same selection for comics but the Carlsbad one has a lot more collectibles. read more

Wandered into this comic bookstore hoping to purchase a Deadpool comic after watching the movie the weekend it came out. I admit that I became 1 of thousands jumping on the Deadpool bandwagon and Ryan Reynold's fine sweet ass. This store has a ridiculous amount of......stuff. Comic collections young and old. Novelty items. Superhero clothes. Beanie babies. Board games. Manga. You name it. This is a closet nerd's wet dream. Or in my case, an internal orgasm. But what brought me down from the cloud 9 were the prices and the overall lack of organization. Prices: The prices are double what you would find online. This store will charge $30 + tax for what you will pay $15 on amazon.com. It's unfortunate that big box online stores are running local shops out of business. However with the massive price difference, I am more inclined to save the $15 and use that money to buy 15 one dollar tacos, or a six pack of my favorite drank, or that cute t-shirt I saw online. Organization: There needs to be better cohesion with how some the graphic novels and comic books are organized. For example, I was looking for something that featured a superhero starting with the letter D. On one shelf, the books were arranged alphabetically from A-C. Moving onto the shelf next to it, the books were arranged from E-G. Okaaaaaay so where are the D books? After hunting around the bookshelves for a good 7 minutes, I find the D books on the other side of the bookshelf in a random spot. Putting the books in order with some labels on the shelves will go a long way. Also the manga section was pitifully small and unorganized. Overall this store is a feast for the eyes. If you have some time and money to kill in the mall, stop by this place. If you're looking for good deals on your favorite series, look elsewhere. read more

This place is Huge, way better than I expected. They have everything from comics to action figures to trading cards to shirts and plushes to actual coins and old dollar bills. You're sure to find what ever you are looking for. I could spend hours in there looking at at all their items. My only complaint is that the customer service needs some work. So I've visited almost all the comic shops south/s.east of the 105 fwy down to Orange County. So, my tour of comic shops has now brought me down to San Diego County. Here's my rundown on my visit... Like most everyone else has said... This place is BIG! I'll start off by listing the different things the store sells... pop culture merchandise, comic and sport related toys, sports merchandise and memorabilia, collectible currency, animation art and original cels, card gaming, and of course comics. Now you may think, yeah that a big list or items but do they have the quantity of merchandise? If you were to closely browse the store and take your time looking at everything they have, it would take you at least 3 hours to tour the store (No Joke). The store is setup into different areas (ex:my list above). I'll mainly be talking about the comic related items. When you first walk-in to the store you'll find in front and to the right of you a lot of pop culture merchandise and comic related toys. I didn't spend to much time looking at these items but they had a lot. Keep walking past these displays and you'll find their extensive comic collection. All their new books are located on shelves along the back wall. They are well organized and finding items is very easy. They even have some highlighted sections for special books, variants & No #1 issues. The back issues were displayed well in front of the new release section, in alphabetical order and very easy to find items. It didn't seem that they had many silver or golden age books but they might have had these elsewhere. They had sections for comic sets as well as a section for trades. Separated away a little bit are some glass display cases that house the more pricey issues as well as high end collectibles (sport and comic related). One downside to being so big, it didn't appear there was any staff working except for behind the main counter. I wasn't greeted when I walked in, which is a pet-peeve of mine. Their prices are definitely higher than most, a definite downside to being inside a mall. I found their website, which has the addresses for their other locations. I found it funny that there is another location that is their Flagship store (that's crazy). They don't have a strong presence on Facebook, which means they also don't have a lot of events. Which is kind of sad, they could get a lot more business with either Writer or Artist signings. They could even do athlete signings if they wanted. They have the right storefront with the right size store. NOTE TO STORE: Expand your community outreach! HAVE EVENTS! All in all this store has everything!
