This isn't my closest B&N but I love coming here as this location will stock book versions that my local store does not. Really easy to find parking as well since this is located in a large plaza. All items (books, merch, decor, etc) are all very organized and most items are quite easy to find. I love their displays in the front where they do themes for different generes and books for different months/seasons. Always inspires me to get something. While I didn't really need to interact with any staff during my last visit, my cashier was so kind and I had a wonderfully smooth checkout experience. The service at this B&N is wonderful! but why are you selling books like Wicked, which has such terribly inappropriate subjects like RAPE and BEASTIALITY in your store? We almost bought the book for our 10 year old who is a voracious reader. She does NOT need to be exposed to those topics in a random book that is marketed under a name that aligns with a Disney story.... Thank you to the employee who identified the topics in the book! All my sisters and I went to Barnes and Noble with my young niece this past week. My niece was running around so excited looking at everything. Thankfully it was pretty empty! Unfortunately one of my sisters lost a gift card and the store was closing. Three of the staff members stayed helping us look for it for around 10 minutes. This was not our typical Barnes and Nobles, but we were in the area so we decided to check it out. We were pleasantly surprised at how large this spot was and they have their own DVD section! It was so cool and felt kind of like the old Blockbuster vibes. And because DVDs are so cheap, it was fun to see what kind of old goodies they had! Not only that, this was definitely one of the larger Barnes and Nobles. It was cool to walk around and appreciate all the selection. Went in here is this weekend. I was so gratful they were fully staffed and we were able to find exactly what we needed and get in and out in 10 minutes. Cozy bookstore where you can enjoy a cup of coffee while you browse or get in and out. We have the membership so prices match Amazon for us when you need a book ASAP. read more

One of the best B&N in San Diego, probably due to its location. It is massive and if you have young kids, you'll love their huge children's section. As usual as with any retail chain store, if you can't find something at a "regular" B&N it's probably at this location that's in a nicer part of town where they keep the products pushed out, organized and neat. Another thing I appreciate is that they hire enough people to keep the store looking tidy. There aren't stacks of books being left behind by thoughtless patrons who deserve a punch in the nose for their slovenliness. I don't live in the area, but I will make the drive if I want to buy someone a nice book as a gift that I don't think the B&Ns nearer to me will carry. I think it's worthwhile to support brick and mortar stores even if they're part of a chain over the online one-that-won't-be-named, even if I have to spend more money. read more

I am always a sucker for a Barnes & Noble. No matter where I travel if I run into one I will go in. This one still has some limited music section choices. I will say that I was a bit mystified by how the fiction was organized but I figured it all out. Otherwise very clean and has that lovely Barnes and noble scent that just puts me in the mood to have a coffee a cookie and a book! read more

I went back to her to check out and by gosh, just the friendliest person. You can tell she is genuine. I read through the book so fast, I stopped by today to pick up the sequel. Date of visit: March 17, 2018 I went to this particular Barnes and Noble location this past Saturday to pick up a book I'd reserved that my regular location in Mira Mesa didn't have in stock (and as I was returning back from Anaheim, it was on my way home). Very spacious and clean location; in the short time I was in the building, I was impressed at how immaculate this place was. Even the in-house Starbucks looked like a separate entity instead of the B&N kiosk I'm used to, complete with seats and tables. And, there's plenty of parking in this mall, so no need to jockey for space. However... The staff here are a bit on the rude side. I actually had to go to the counter to get someone's attention, as opposed to waiting to be called. And, no acknowledgment or any of the friendly attitudes I'm accustomed to at my home base - in fact, he seemed annoyed that I was there on a Saturday night picking up a book I had placed on hold instead of leaving him alone at the checkout counter doing whatever he was doing when not helping out a paying customer. Look, I get that it's a quiet Saturday evening (and St. Patrick's Day, at that), but if there's a customer waiting to be helped, you still gotta be on point! Nice location, but it'll be a while before I come back to this B&N. read more

I bought over $70 worth of magazines and books last weekend from Jim V. but sadly, it was not a good customer experience. I don't know whether it's because of policies, incentives or training issues. Essentially, Jim asked me to enroll in the program to pay a fee and get discounts throughout the year. I said I had done that before but the ROI wasn't there for my purchases from just Barnes and Noble. I purchase books on Audible and used ones on Amazon with all books totaling $400 a year. Anyway, then I paid my bill for books that would have been less expensive on Amazon but I liked the environment. Then I asked for a bag for my purchases and he spoke to me in a condescending voice about how he would have charged me $.10 if I had asked earlier. I was offended and embarrassed to be spoken like that in front of other customers. Please let me know what caused this issue so I can decide if I'll shop at any Barnes and Noble Bookstore again. The customer experience appears to have degraded significantly. read more

Mary helped me find this great comic book I really had my heart set on buying. It's a blank comic book, so I can draw my own stories. Love!! She was so nice Heather at the register was equally sweet, we had a few moments to chat because no one was behind us, and we had a delightful conversion, she rung us up, and then got us out the door. I stopped here on a whim and I'm so glad I did, the store was really clean, and organized. And I'll come back. Oh and hub found two magazines as well. read more

A good bookstore, with a lot of good curated tables for anything you might be looking for (from gifts to types of books, they really do a good job putting related and relevant items together). Every time I come in, which is rarely in this e-book world, I get good customer service and feel there is a good selection. I love coming and perusing their guidebooks section, which is extensive. They also have cool books on San Diego's history. The quantity of available parking and the Starbucks push this over the top of a 4 for me. The only thing that would make it go higher is comfortable reading chairs. They only seemed to have benches when I was there, and sometimes you need a few minutes of relaxed flipping through to decide between various guidebooks. read more

There is a Starbucks that is attached to this B&N so you don't have to leave the building for your coffee. There is plenty of parking so no need to fight for a spot! This is one of my favorite places to go with my toddler. They have a great kids area with a stage. They read to the kids on certain mornings/nights of the week. The events are located on their website. They have so many wonderful books for kids as well as for adults. They have a massive toy section that I had no idea about until I started going to this store recently. They evidently bought Toys-r-Us as well as Paper Source. I am excited to see all the new stationary and notebooks they get from Paper Source. The customer service is ALWAYS excellent. People are so helpful in finding books for you as well as checking out. Be sure to join the Barnes and Noble Membership because the 10% discount really adds up quick if you or your child loves to read. read more

I do not come into these big book stores so often because I find local bookstores more appealing. But I needed to find a last minute gift which was a specific book so I decided to pick up an order here. Because I love books I could not help peruse the shelves. There is the standard best sellers in the front. It is so big I found it difficult to navigate. I much prefer the bookstores of Seattle and Portland compared to Barnes and Noble. Even Warwick's in La Jolla is much better than B & N. I cannot put my finger on why such bookstores are quite "big" yet manage to exude a more local feel then B & N. Maybe because I find it ironic the sale of e-book readers sold amongst physical books? read more

B&N was clearing out some excess and old inventory at a discount in their games clearance section. I had googled a different out of print game to see if I could find if it was available ANYWHERE on the internet (it wasn't). What did come up were B&N's clearance games and I saw something that piqued my interest at a store 15 miles from home. I called in and two associates could not find it. Bummer! So I dragged my wife up to the store so she could get some books. I took my chances and looked behind every game on the regular shelves, kids game section, etc. nothing. With my head hung low I began to walk out and decided to peak behind the checkout counter to see if it was back there and yet to go back on the shelf. It was back there! I asked, it was reserved for an employee! BUMMER! I asked if I could be put on the list if they didn't buy it. I didn't push for a mgr but they wanted to call one out to assist-they ended up graciously allowing me to purchase it (I think the employee passed on it for me!). I did not expect that and didn't think once about debating it Great customer service all around w then trying earlier to find it and then allowing me the purchase. My wife went in and made a few regular purchases after I went back out to walk around the shopping center with our dog we brought up with us. . What is not to like? It is pretty much a library but without the librarian going "shhhhh" AND there is a Starbucks adjacent to it. This location is bigger than the other BN I have been too. For having tons of books and hundreds of people going in and out, it is clean and organized. The staff are very helpful and friendly. If you buy into the Barnes and Noble membership you actually get a pretty good discount. I do not know what is considered cheap nowadays; but it sure isn't books. If you are a reader or know someone who is getting a membership and going half on it might be something to look into! read more

Went to Barnes & Noble to check out some kid's books. There is a wide selection of books for kids and adults. My daughter immediate goes to the back of the store to play with the train set. There was so many learning toys as well. I really enjoyed looking at all the different types of books they carry. This location is clean and there was seating at the back and near the magazine section. There was also free wifi as soon as you walk in. I didn't notice it until I sat down with my phone and looked at the connection to wifi. Cool place to hang out and read some books. read more

Hey, it's a Barnes and Noble bookstore!! I'm not sure what you'd expect from a big bookseller now a days. It's almost as though they're trying to look more and more like an Apple store as of late with their huge Nook displays everywhere. I get it, I really do. I have a Nook. It's the mini-wave of the not-so-distant future. However, if I'm taking the time to go to a B&N, I want to look at real books. Otherwise, I'd order them directly from my own home or wherever I'm at with my Nook. Seriously. Let me just read my paperback in peace. read more

BN staff is totally accommodating and nice. The interior is nice and clean and inviting given that you see every place to sit and read or chat with their pals is taken. It's very much a library more or less. While it is a Starbucks, the coffee shop also adds a nice human touch too. In combination with the good selection of books and the clientele willing to stay (with or without coffee) is what makes BN a great place. read more

The best bookstore. They literally have everything you could want. I love the fact they are attached to Starbucks too. You can grab a cup of coffee and grab a book, sit back in a comfy chair they have strewn around the store and relax. The kids section is large and when my son was little he would play on the train tacks they have set up for the little ones. All the classic favorites to choose from too. Best sellers, discounted books, buy two get one free. A helpful staff. The parking lot is huge so there are no problems with parking. The store is clean and well stocked. They even have small events for kids periodically. LIke Lego building, you can sign up online and the kids have fun. Something different to do while you read a book, they are engaged... I love having an actual boostore to browse in. The info. desk staff are always helpful in finding a book. But it makes me so mad and gives my whole transaction a negative slant that the checkout staff have to push their membership program at checkout. I just want someone to say, "Hi, thank you for coming in and buying a book today. That will be $20." That is all it should be. If sarcasm were allowed, I would add, "We appreciate you getting in your car and driving here on your lunch break to spend your hard earned money instead of going on Amazon and ordering it, even though that would have been more convenient for you. read more

They are a big box book store turned toy store, video and music store, and gift shop. They've lost their focus on books and published materials. The place is consistently messy and the customer service has started to disappear. There is always a wait at the check stands. No one there seems to view the cash registers as their responsibility. They are going to need more than toys and games to survive. My they should consider a strong management team that leads by example. I hated writing this review because I love books. read more

It's a little older, a little larger, and somewhat more cluttered than Borders across the street. As far as it's bookstore qualities go, it's a B&N, and so not going to be much different from the rest of this pretty good franchise. I'm not entirely happy with the general lack of sitting space, most of the time I end up hunkering down on the floor with my pile of books, magazines and comics. This one tends to be more popular with teenagers, and on a Friday night the store's Starbucks in jam packed with kids. read more
