Hubby surprised me with the location for our weekly date night and I was highly impressed. My favorite color is pink so the walk up to the entrance of the restaurant with the pink carpet literally took my breath away. Then there are pink accents at the check in desk as well as more pink decor throughout the restaurant. We were seated by the windows that looked out onto the hotel grounds, the pool area and nearby villas. It was beautiful and well-kept landscaping. The overall ambiance of the place was gorgeous. The servers were polite and our food came out at a reasonable time. Although mine and hubby's mashed potatoes came cold, as if they plated them before the meats were ready, everything was still delicious! A dagger it was indeed when all my compatriots received their amuse-bouche, a spoonful of varied seafood. What did I, a vegetarian, receive? Not so much as an acknowledgment from the wait staff of the awkwardness of the situation, and certainly not a substitute. I might have been more charitable if my entree was good, but the haphazard combination of two eggplant Parmesan appetizers into a main was mediocre at best. There is not even an official vegetarian entree on the menu, and the staff seemed genuinely flummoxed by the request. I'm giving 2 stars because, perhaps sensing my displeasure, they made sure to clarify that the peculiar, deconstructed caesar salad had been modified for my needs. read more

Eating at the Ritz. It was my first time dining at Knife and I was underwhelmed. The ambience of the restaurant was nice. The hostess and the server were nice. The food was unseasoned and wasn't that great. The complimentary bread was a good addition to the table. I had the chicken parm and you have to pay for the noodles separately - an extra $16 and they weren't great. They do comp your parking for eating in the restaurant. I dined there twice in a row for dinner. 1st night, filet mignon, asparagus and those deeeeelicious parm potatoes squares. 2nd night, Caesar salad and a margarita pizza with pepperoni. Either I must have NEEDED that cold salad but it was so good. Fresh and tasty. We celebrated our friends 40th birthday here recently. While I will always miss Café on the green, knife Italian is definitely better than Law, which was here in this Ritz, formerly four seasons. Times are changing! Especially when you see hot pink napkins at an Italian steakhouse, lol. I didn't hate it! The ambience was definitely fun and upbeat. We all enjoyed our Italian dishes. They even had gluten-free pasta for me which was so nice. However, I had several bites of my husband's pasta (pappardelle), which was obviously homemade (WAY better), and it did not make me sick. They use that 00 flour. I wouldn't recommend it for celiac, but I am only borderline. We enjoyed the meatballs, burrata, eggplant Parmesan, tuna, several different cocktails and four delicious desserts! My favorite was the affogato. Finally Las Colinas has an upscale Italian restaurant!! It's inside the Ritz Carlton. Service was great and the runners were describing the dishes as they brought it to the table. They served complimentary focaccia bread with butter in the beginning and fruit jellies at the end. For apps we ordered garlic bread bruschetta and truffle fries. Truffle fries were my favorite out of the two. For main course we ordered Margarita pizza and Spaghetti cacio e pepe. Spaghetti was delicious and pizza was thin crust with perfect amount of basil on the top. For dessert we ordered torta pistocchi which was really smooth and rich. Overall the experience and service were amazing!! I would go back and highly recommend this place to everyone. Open less than two weeks and they're off to a great start! The service was awesome - multiple parties helping throughout our meal were all extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. The restaurant is very nicely decorated and has comfortable seating too. It's a decent size and can certainly accommodate large groups. Every dish we ordered was on point. Be advised, the dishes/portion sizes are large. We were able to split a salad and ended up with lots of leftovers from the two entrees we ordered. The eggplant parmigiana was the best I've ever had...thinly cut, nicely breaded (not overly), and in some type of basil sauce that was delicious. Foodie Alert! Guess where I just dined? Knife Italian Chef John Tesar's amazing Italian Steakhouse at the luxurious Ritz-Carlton in Las Colinas. The atmosphere is such a vibe. The moment you step inside, you're met by the hostesses in a vibrant room filled with colorful decor, beautiful flowers, and intriguing abstract mirrors. The apps and food were pretty good. I enjoyed my Buffalo burrata salad and lobster pasta.... As a bonus, the pasta heated up very well the next day. To top it off, the service was excellent, and they paid very close attention to detail. My only con is there was some private party being held and they were very noisy. Used to Be a Favorite--Now It's a Cautionary Tale Oh, how the mighty have fallen. This place used to be our go-to spot--reliable, delicious, even a little special. But our recent visit felt like a breakup we didn't see coming. Every part of the menu we loved has been changed, and not for the better. They swapped out the soft, flavorful bread for a dry, crusty ciabatta that could double as a doorstop. The lobster scampi, once a buttery, garlicky dream, has been transformed into something that tastes like it lost a bet. They also ditched the beet salad, which was a small masterpiece and frankly deserved better. And then came the chicken Parmesan--burnt, dry, and so overcooked it could have been used as evidence in an arson investigation. We sent it back, but no manager stopped by. No apology, no explanation... not even a courtesy nod. To make it worse, my wife's order was wrong, and when they finally brought the lobster (late), she had to eat alone because the rest of us were already done. Again, no manager, no discount, no effort. And as a final farewell gift? They've started charging for parking, which used to be free. I guess that's to help pay for the new chef, who seems to be actively fighting the menu. This place was a favorite. Now, it's a hard pass--at least until they bring in a new chef and a manager who believes in eye contact and basic hospitality. read more

This is my second time at Knife Italian. About a year ago my experience didn't meet my expectations... but this year they far exceeded it. Our server Crystal was absolutely amazing! She was real and kind, and made great recommendations. Checked on us enough that we never wanted for anything, but not so much that we felt interrupted or rushed. Other servers helped bus the table and kept our waters full at all times. As you can see, the food was amazing! The steak and deserts were my favorite, lobster ravioli, focaccia, then pizza. The drinks are in a category of their own. They really pride themselves on the Italian tradition of complex aperitifs. The decor is a little 'island-y.' When it gets dark outside, the restaurant gets pretty dark. The valet is complimentary when you dine at the restaurant, and the valets were very on top of it! We had a great time! Had an amazing experience here, dining with my sister for lunch. Informed them of my gluten allergy and they made sure to accommodate any allergies, and let me know if they have gluten-free pasta, risotto, and even gluten-free bread, among other options. The manager, Colby, even came over and made sure everything was to our liking, and our servers (Aleyda and Mariana) were absolutely wonderful and constantly checking up on us to make sure we were happy and we had everything we needed. Not to mention they were incredibly sweet and professional. The ambience is definitely more peaceful during the day, but in the evening it turns into this beautiful, Tulum jungle experience. The service was lacking at my table throughout the whole Christmas dinner. The night started off with our party of 2 arriving 10 minutes or so prior to the restaurant's opening at 5PM. I could see the team having a pre-service huddle which the hostess broke away from to politely state that they'll be opening shortly and completely understood/appreciated it. Needless to say, more and more early birds showed up and eventually the seating began but that was a painfully slow process as it seemed minutes went by before the hostess returned to seat another party. Finally, she returned and said 'oh - I didn't know anyone was still waiting as she - another co-worker that was lighting candles - didn't tell her. Hmmm! Should the hostess be at the hostess station to greet guests as much/often as possible at all times? The hostess is pleasant and seats us at a nice table. A large party of six gets seated nearby soon after us and although our waiter, Gerardo, took our drink order it felt like they became his focus from that moment on. A young gentleman came around asking if we'd like oil and balsamic without out saying it was for the bread that would be served. I had to ask him if we're getting bread to which he replied yes. We sat with our drinks waiting a long time for the bread which I had to mention to the waiter - AND FINALLY it arrived. It was delicious bread as we're the meatballs - which were unfortunately luke warm. (I wanted to tell them but I try not to be 'that guy' so we ate them before the cooled down any more.) Our caesar salads arrived soon after and I can say they were not remarkable - just another caesar salad that will quickly fade in my memory as 'okay'. I'm not a foodie by any means but do enjoy good food when I can and truly believe that the service can make or break even the best meal - and I have heard so much about John Tesar so I was definitely expecting more that just 'okay'. My filet and my friend's skirt steak finally arrived after a prolonged wait - one of the servers again came to the table with fish plates that weren't ours. (Earlier he also brought 2 burrata plates prior to our salads which makes me think our waiter messed up as we had to wait a while after that to get the 2 Caesars in front of us.) The steaks, peppercorn sauce, asparagus and pureed potatoes were delicious. I like my steak well done and it was cooked perfectly and yet so easy to chew. So the main course was a success but it's hard to overlook the service - especially when we could see/hear a female waiter taking care of an older couple nearby with great care and enthusiastic attention. A party of 4 got seated before we left and again she was quite good relative to our experience. I'm not trying to say it was our waiter (and hostess) as I believe a restaurant is only as good as everyone - from the hostess, bus boy, wait staff, bartender, chef, etc. I had high expectations as I stated earlier since this was a John Tesar restaurant but I know that the one at the Beeman near SMU in Dallas closed and heard from acquaintances that the food and service had been going downhill there. Take this all for what it's worth but if you have a reputation/brand you need to constantly deliver on it. And if you're inside a Ritz-Carlton property - you better be the frickin' best around! read more

The Il Posto is one of their takes on the Negroni and I could drink those all night. Our server was friendly but a bit distracted at times. We were a group of four and took some time for our drinks. The amuse bouche had a lovely truffle flavor. It was all just so so from there. I had the fennel salad, while flavorful was oddly soggy and not the texture I was expecting. Entree was good, the lobster agnolotti was cooked perfectly. Fairly small portion for a hefty price, however. Tried the prawn tagliatelle that someone else ordered and it had a fishy taste to me, maybe because they were the head on prawns but did not enjoy at all. We passed on dessert but received some delicious macaroons with our bill. I usually am a little wary of restaurants located in hotels and this visit reminded me why. read more

This restaurant has undergone many names/changes and the newest restaurant it helmed by Chef John Tesar of Knife. It's an Italian steakhouse, and unfortunately is only good if you're on a business trip. My Overall Rating - 2 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food) Atmosphere - The first major change of the restaurant will be seen as you enter. The entrance is filled with bright colors and mirrors. I felt like I was walking through a live Picasso paining. But like art, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. While it's not my taste, it may be yours. 1/2 Star. Service - The service was excellent. This was the best part of my dining experience. The servers took their time, were very attentive, and if I needed something (I didn't) I'm sure they would have accommodated. The service is on par with what you would get from the finest restaurants. 1 Star. Food - Unfortunately, the food didn't match the service. We started with a fresh bread basket with soft butter. The light & airy, warm bread (not sure what it was) was fantastic. However, it was one of the few highlights of my meal. We started with a King Salmon appetizer. Red Flag #1 - the salmon tasted fishy. Knife Italian is billed as an Italian steakhouse, so I ordered a bone-in ribeye medium rare. The steak was served family style, cut in small strips. Red Flag #2 - The steak was thin (I think this is Italian style), but very chewy and more on the medium-well side. While I appreciated the family style presentation, the $90 steak wasn't grilled well. In lieu of a side, I ordered the pappardelle pasta - now this was very good. Pappardelle are long, wide pasta noodles tossed in a delicious beef bolognaise. Pro Tip - use any remaining bread to dip in the bolognaise and soak up the sauce. Finally - Red Flag #3 - Knife Italian is uber expensive. Even for a hotel restaurant. Expect to pay up to 40% more. 1/2 Star. Will I Return? - Not unless I'm on company expense. I would only recommend Knife Italian to someone who is staying at the hotel on a business trip and they don't want to leave the hotel. There are much better (and cheaper) options in Las Colinas. So sad. I booked a day at spa for myself and had them book me lunch. This restaurant needs a lot of help. Almost every table got meal comped. Meals took over hour, restaurant practically empty on holiday weekend. My pasta was not cooked. I know al dente, this pasta was hard & got stuck in my teeth. They offered to make again and I said just needed something fast. The drink took 30 mins. to get. While this dumpster fire is happening, my waitress tells me she will go on break but I'll be taken care of. Never saw anyone again. I feel bad bc I have no idea what is going on behind scenes but for a "celebrity chef restaurant" to be so poorly run on all levels is beyond my comprehension level. The hotel as a whole is just meh. It's sad to see properties struggling especially since this is a new acquisition for Ritz. Better send in the A team bc it's amateur hour at Las Colinas Ritz. No offense but the vibe of this place has been off for 30+ years since it was a country club. I feel like they built it on scared grounds bc grounds are beautiful and the ancestors of whatever tribe lived there going to make sure no one has a good time. Ever. read more

Ok the ambiance here is so cool. Felt very New York. The light fixtures were so cool. Service was amazing. You never went without. All you had to do was mention that you needed something and a server would overhear and swoop by and get it for you. They have ears everywhere. The food was great. I had the margarita pizza which was amazing, oldest daughter had the filet which she said was pretty good but a little overcooked and youngest daughter had the papardelle which she said she couldn't stop eating so it was also a 5 star dish. The only downfall to the meal was, my husband wanted to try the 90 day aged ribeye and ended up barely being edible. I tried a bite and the flavor was not what he expected. We expect a melt in your mouth juicy steak but got a chewy and awkward experience. I was not able to chew it and had to spit it out. We love our stakes and we have had some amazing aged cuts but this just wasn't one. The manager was super gracious and helpful with the experience and we will definitely return. If you want a fun atmosphere with amazing service this is definitely the spot! Great photo ops here too! read more

I've never gone out of my way to review anything on Yelp, but it was my birthday so the poor experience had to be documented. The best thing about the meal was the hostess and the ambiance. The food was extremely bland. NOTHING had taste. The server poured tap water on top of our Acqua Panna and also spilled wine on the table during the pour. I looked at the menu online & saw that there were items clearly labeled as vegan but the menu wasn't quite the same when I arrived. The hostess did ask about any food allergies & our waiter did work with me to make sure I got a vegan option which was much appreciated. I ended up with avocado toast (which had to be on gluten free bread, unfortunately) and it just wasn't great for me. The gf bread wasn't the worst gf bread I've ever had at least but the addition of pomegranate seeds on top was weird. Overall it was just meh. I asked for a side of fruit which I never got. The green juice I ordered was delicious, though - definitely the highlight of the morning. 2 other people in my group also ordered the avocado toast (without modification) and really liked it. The decor is cute and service was helpful but it did seem to take longer than normal to prepare/serve our food once ordered (3 avocado toasts & 1 traditional breakfast). Would I come back here? Maybe wouldn't be my first choice for breakfast (except for that green juice) but I would be curious to try lunch or dinner if they can be accommodating to vegans. We had the most amazing anniversary thanks to the team here at Knife Italian. A friend of ours made a call to get us in on a very busy Saturday night as a gift, then we were treated so well! Kristy could not have been nicer and made incredible recommendations for our first time visiting. She never rushed us for the table, which was one of the best in the house and only wanted to make sure we enjoyed ourselves. The garlic bread burrata was to die for, the cacio e pepe was incredible and I loved our steak. The drinks are STRONG so be sure to take care in what you are ordering and do not skip dessert.
