Update...I got my knives back sharpened and I am relieved that this business is still legit. The turnaround time has been updated on their website and now reflects the new realistic timeframe of 2-3 weeks. I just don't understand why their customer service couldn't respond to my inquiries telling me that they were backed up. That would have alleviated a lot of anxiety for myself and the many others who were in the same situation. Five stars for the quality, one star for customer service. I paid about $60 for the 4 knives plus I got one free serrated knife. I think that is a fair deal. read more

My knives were sent in their supplied postage paid packaging. They emailed to say they sent them back via USPS but the delivery was in another state. No way to telephone and they only replied with a standard email message. Delivery took a while and tracking is inaccurate ! Find a local knife sharpener (cutlery store or key maker). If your knives are lost there are no instructions to put a claim in for a partial reimbursement. read more

I am in the same position as others are! I sent 10 knifes on October 26th. Their policy is 24hr turn around. I have been using them for a couple of years now without issues. Now, I still do not have my knifes back. I have emailed support and no response. I would say looks like we all.... will be buying new knifes. Perfect timing. Sent KnifeAid 5 knives two weeks ago. I have begged for updates.The company web site has said for more than a week that my order was fulfilled. I HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY KNIVES. Now they are supposed to be out for delivery but had to be "forwarded" because they sent them to the wrong address. Order number 147394 if anyone can help. **BEWARE** I saw Knife Aid in an Instagram ad and took advantage of what looked like a great option for sharpening 8 of my Wusthof knives. The packaging is great, and I sent the knives off to be sharpened. However, I received no communication upon receiving the knives, so after two weeks, I inquired about the status. The company is local to the Los Angeles area but has no telephone number and will only email you with limited updates. After a month, I still don't have my knives, which were sent via USPS, but they, too, don't have a record. Lost value is nearly $1000! read more

I'm copy-pasting my review here from the Knife Aid site, because I'm guessing it will be deleted there.. It's also interesting to see a few other 1-star reviews here mentioning Pleasantville, NY; that's the same warehouse my recent order shipped to. I have used Knife Aid in the past, as well as Sharpenters (who they acquired I guess), and both were amazing experiences-- there was even a hurricane that hit their facility (Sharpenters) and somehow they still managed to get my knives back relatively quickly, which I was not at all expecting, and that was the *longest* I'd waited to get them back, maybe ~1 week total, from shipping them, to knives back on my doorstep. They almost always sharpen and ship back within 24-48 hours, so shipping is the only real time. Not sure if it's new management or what, but this last time, it took almost ONE MONTH for me to get my knives back. I shipped them on 9/6 and I finally got them back 9/30, almost 4 weeks later. To add insult to injury, there were no updates and no way to actually check status on the site; all you could see is "delivered" (to their warehouse). I messaged Support, heard back 3-4 days later, saying they're working on it. Another almost two weeks went by, I messaged again, still working on it. Then I finally get a random shipment notification and eventually my knives came back (would have been nice for them to overnight them after the delay, but nope-- that took 4-5 days as well). For the love of god, PLEASE don't waste your money on these guys, something has changed and it feels like a cash grab. I'm assuming they're just outsourcing to random, local tradesman...skip the middleman and bring them to somebody close to home. read more

So not very impressed so far. I ordered a 10 knife kit in mid August. It was shipped out via USPS from somewhere in New York on Aug 20. Was supposed to receive Aug 25. Today is Spt 4 and not received the kit. They use standard USPS shipping which is probably the most risky of all shipping. The USPS has shown in transit since Aug 20. I refuse to send expensive knives thru USPS Moving Through Network. You may want to consider alternative sharpening services. While the service is solid the customer service is trash. They don't have a phone number and my knives are delayed - I've gotten they're in the final stages for 2 days now when they advertise 24 hour turnaround. They may spend a lot on ads that make them look like a good value and deal, but it's all smoke and mirrors. Companies that use ai for customer support or don't provide a phone number should be avoided - use a local sharpener instead it's such a better deal read more

In December 2024, I sent 6 knives to be sharpened. 3 chef knives, a smaller kitchen knife and two larger butchers knives. The shipping, the timing, the ease, the convenience...all great. My only issue is while they did sharpen all the knives, none of them were as sharp as I expected them to be for having them professionally sharpened. I can get my knives much sharper with my whetstone at home and expected the knives to be as sharp if not sharper than I can at home. Easy and convenient? yes. Good price? yes. Sharp enough? Knife Aid used to be a great company with amazingly fast mail order sharpening. In the past I have sent my knives out via mail and received them back in less than 10 days. My latest experience however, has been a disaster. I sent my knives out on Nov 21 fully expecting to have them back in about 10 days. It is now Dec 12 and I still don't have my knives. Knife Aid customer service is terrible and unresponsive. The only way to reach them is via email, they have no phone. I will not trust them with my knives again even though the sharpening is spot on. I suppose if you are local and can bring your knives in person you will be ok but I strongly warn against using the mail in service unless you have a lot of time to wait. read more

After posting this review here and on Zwilling (the original point of purchase), a Zwilling customer service agent swooped in and quickly accelerated this to a good resolution. She called me the next day and also attempted to retrieve the knives with USPS. Her communication to me was proactive and an example of great customer service. Ultimately, USPS didn't back down and Zwilling provided a refund and new replacement knives I selected as equivalents. Thank you, Zwilling! I still don't recommend Knife Aid but will add a star for their corporate partner's good rescue of the situation. read more

I had used Knife Aid for years until recently when I shipped my knives to them to be sharpened. Up until then, it had been a pleasant and pretty reliable service. This time was incredibly different. It turns out that despite being located in Southern California, they also have a sharpening facility in New York. When I received my return shipping notification, it simply told me that my knives were being shipped to some address thousands of miles away. I frantically tried emailing them because they don't have a phone number. No reply. No customer service was available of any kind. I ultimately had to contact their parent company to get a hold of someone that would speak to me. It took nearly a month to receive my knives back without so much as an apology or refund. Then they had the audacity to ask me to pay the extra $10 for the additional knife they had sharpened. Won't be be using them again. read more

It has now been 22 days, and I have not received any confirmation from the company that they have received my knives or when I can expect them to be returned. I sent 4 knives to Knife Aid. They seemed to have sharpened them and sent them back via USPS. Unfortunately according to the USPS tracking system, my knives were sent to someone in Pleasantville, NY. I live in Greenland, NH! The company is impossible to reach- no phone and emails disappear into the ether. I know they had my correct address as that's where they sent the prepaid mailer. I have furnished them with the detailed USPS tracking information but have still not gotten any response. They said there was a shop near me in Southern California. They touted quick turnaround (usually 24 hours to sharpen the knives). As it turns out, they closed their SoCal location. My knives took the slowest USPS trip across the country to NY. It took a week in-house before they shipped the knives back to me. All in all, it took 3 weeks+ before I got my knives back. They did a good job sharpening and fixed a bent knife tip, but I would have used someone else had I known it would take so long. read more
