We used his services at the Joan store (soon to be closed) at Tapo street . My scissors weren't oiled or cleaned , i even opted out of not having my garden shears sharpened due to the cost as they were rusty , i found it cheaper to buy them new . i would have gladly paid more for the cleaning service had he told me it was not included . In the past other vendors knives or scissors sharpened included cleaning /oiling . I have a very old pair that was my grandmothers dress making scissors and i did t notice any more cutting power on these but they also still need a cleaning so i'm sure that's hindering the sharpening ability & cutting power . My friend had a bunch of kitchen knives sharpened and she was very satisfied with the work of her knives . Perhaps I expected too much and it seems that knives are his specialty - not hand tools . Found Jeff at Pro Sharp through doing some research on yelp. I went onto his website to see his schedule of when he will be in Porter Ranch At Joann fabrics. I brought 5 knives to be sharpened at around 11:15 on a Monday (6/14) and pick up was at 2pm that same day. Jeff was really nice and gave great customer service. I called Jeff ahead to confirm his availability and to confirm that he was familiar with sharpening hair scissors. I arrived at the time we set up and Jeff was there waiting for my sister and I. My sister explained what she needed and she agreed to the price Jeff quoted. She and I went to get coffee and drove back in 30 minutes. When we arrived, the job was already completed. Both pairs of scissors are producing a safe & clean cut now. The price was reasonable and the advice was free. Jeff was friendly and very informative. Consumers often just assume that when a knife or tool is dull, it's a simple job to sharpen it. Other things come into play: are their any knicks in the blade? What material is the blade made from? How is the tool being used? Is the tool rusty - does it need cleaning or oiling? You can't compare one customer's pricing with another customer's pricing - it all depends on the type of blade, how it is being used and the current condition of the blade. When you can take the time to have a blade-master explain all of this to you, you'll better understand the cost and options to restore it to how you want to use it, and you, the customer, can choose the service you want. read more

Jeff was a pleasure to interact with, and he does great work at an excellent value. When I initially reached out, he was out of town but got back to me within minutes of my call. Later the same week, I arrived at his home at a time we had discussed. The knife sharpening was fast, and he worked his magic while I waited, super convenient for me which I really appreciated. Our standard workhorse kitchen knife is now better than brand new - I don't think it's ever been this sharp. I have used Jeff's services at Pro Sharp for several years, with extraordinary results! Aging JA Henkels knives have been restored and rejuvenated with his care and attention.
