One of the most reasonably priced spots halfway between SF and Bend, allowing us to make a stop at Crater Lake on the way up to Bend. One night in a double room (two queens) was $92.39. I chose this place because it's pet-friendly, and I didn't realize there was an extra pet surcharge (apparently that's in the small print on Hotels.com). Our room was fine, not glamorous, but we got what we expected for the price point. The pool was very cold, and there are no towels there, so make sure to bring some from your room. There was an employee diligently sweeping the parking area; you can tell they do care about a certain level of upkeep. They did have continental breakfast foods available: grocery store pastries, fruit loops, a flake cereal maybe Raisin Bran, single serving yogurt, boiled eggs. read more

My friend and I have been taking an annual hiking trip for the last several years. We always stay at the cheapest hotels we can find. Klamath Motor Lodge in Yreka is one of the best we've stayed at. There are several reasons for this: The reservation was not messed up. The grounds and the room were very clean. There was fresh paint on the inside and outside. The rugs and sheets looked new. The air conditioner worked. They had wifi as advertised, and it was strong. The bed was very comfortable. The parking lot was free of riff-raff. There was a transient wandering around and the police were called quickly. Guests were quiet and well behaved. No late night TV noise blaring through the walls, no partying. We had asked the host to clean our rooms only once, after two days. They did exactly that, without us having to follow up, and they did an excellent job. There is ample parking. The hotel is on the main drag in Yreka and centrally located. This hotel is clearly very well managed by someone who cares about their guests and property. I was going to go for stars but so many of the other reviewer's hit this place so hard with one star reviews I want to even the score. First of all and most importantly, the place was clean and the bed was awesome. Secondly, that air-conditioning unit that somebody complain about being too loud, worked great. (I don't know if quiet air-conditioning units unless you have central heat and air so that person might like some insight?) Thirdly, well this is definitely a cheap roadside Motel and lacks certain updates and charms that chains like Motel six provide, I think they did a really nice job of prioritizing certain upgrades and aesthetics while providing a very reasonable cost point. I don't know who thought this place was too expensive but I haven't stayed in a cheap motel for under 100 bucks it wasn't a total crack house in about 10 years. Yes, the tub looks horrible but it's probably 50 years old and it's stained. It is really clean, and they put in a wonderful very nicely done washable surround. Similarly the microwave refrigerator and television are all above standard. Personally I love the decor and the color palette. The pool is not resort quality, neither is the price. Oh and it had an actual closet with hangers and a luggage rack, a very nice touch the many places don't have, and the chairs with the table seating area it was very comfortable. And finally I actually thinkThey deserve that fifth star because they have a really sweet well tended very healthy happy garden growing along their nicely painted fence. Kudos. ( I also witnessed some staff demonstrating exceptionally good parenting skills which I appreciated.) Made reservations via AAA when stopped in Redding & realized I didn't want to drive over Siskiyou Pass at night with rain/snow & trucks. Better to try in morning. After reading reviews we thought it would be safe to reserve a room but! woah! positives first beds are good sheets and towels clean Negative Dirty this place is far cry from clean as photos will show the place is old so there are not many places to charge phones, watches, cameras etc. if you are in a pinch and don't mind questionable people hanging around totally blasted, tweeked what ever their preferred method is. cannot believe this place should be a 50 dollar room at the most. have not mentioned the toilet, it's got all that black stuff up close to the rim you can see it from the room. This hotel is very old. The towels and bedding were threadbare. The noise from everyone around you was so awful. The bed was hard the bathroom old and so tiny. If your paying more than $50 per night it is way too much. The owners or managers were nice but the place is horrible. read more

The owners of this hotel decided to allow a disturbance of the peace (Tesla display of lights, loud music, and gull-wing doors flapping) in the parking lot tonight just before 10pm. The owner and his family were out enjoying the display. Though a few of us asked them to stop as they woke us up, we were ignored. This went on twice. Though I am a repeat guest and was greeted warmly at check-in, when I said I wouldn't be back his response was "Thank you." You get what you pay for. Cheap hotel. There seem to be some guests here who didn't come here to sleep but to stay awake and be loud, as if they're on drugs. Not family friendly. read more

Not fancy, but we would stay here again. I5 closed due to weather and we were traveling with our dog. The lady I spoke with on the phone, and who checked us in, was very friendly and helpful. I was also happy to see a certificate that showed they support the Red Cross. The bed was comfortable, the room clean. We left too early to have the breakfast, so I can't comment on that. We can't comment on anything but the "pet allowed" motel room they assigned us. Awful furniture, and many patches in the walls that were not painted. We went back to the office and told them we didn't like the room and they gave us a refund without argument and very respectfully. We had to drive all the way to Medford to find an acceptable room at The Fairview ($410 per night for pet room) so the Klamath Motor Lodge is actually a screaming deal. The other rooms looked okay and if we weren't required to stay in a pet room (even though our pet was going to be picked up by a family member who lived in Shasta within 2 hours but we were road weary and wanted a room right away). Instead we just drove further north and bypassed the overnight offer of family for our dog to stay there..... read more

Honestly doesn't look like much, but it was one of the better motels I've stayed in. Beds were comfy and I slept great. DirecTV was a nice touch. Most motels only offer a few channels. Bizarrely great experiences for a $52/night room. The family that owns it has put a lot of work into upgrading the property -- the granite slabs in the bathrooms & above the mini fridge and the mosaic tile work were clearly done by hand. Cheerful paint and the nicest pillows we've experienced in anything but an upscale hotel. Big flat screen TV and FULL DIRECTV -- we watched the Game of Thrones finale in our motel room! Dog friendly with a grass area to take your pups out, but do make sure you call ahead if you book online to let them know you need a pet friendly room. Maybe the one negative would be that the family who works there aren't incredibly friendly, but I think they work very very long hours. We had a late check in our first stay, but noted that on our reservation, and we (proud of ourselves for this) arrived within 5 minutes of my estimated check in time. Had to press the button outside the lobby many times and wait about 5 minutes before anyone responded, & then waited an additional 5 minutes to be met in the lobby. Oh well, in the grand scheme of things it's not a big deal, just made us a little anxious for a couple minutes that we would be having to find alternate arrangements at midnight in the bustling metropolitan city of Yreka. Everything else insanely exceeded our expectations to the point where we were sending photos of the granite & tile work to our family after check in. We stayed here to break up our drive from Portland to LA, & were so pleased that we stayed again on our trip back. This is where we will stay each time we make this trek from now on. Oh! One entertaining side note: The staff doesn't like to unwrap things apparently. A few of the lampshades still had the plastic wrap on them that said, "remove before use." This place is a straight up dump. No other way to describe it. I made a mistake and booked a room on TripAdvisor as they recommended it. This place is old and worn, it shows. Nothing appears to have been upgraded since the late 70's and a lot of the original place of the 1940's remains in all its decrepitness. When I arrived it was 27 degrees outside and 27 degrees inside the room. It took more than 4 hours for the room to heat up enough that we could simply wear heavy sweaters and not our heavy coats. The heater was barely functioning and the thermostat was either on or off, no automatic function at all. WiFi was slooowwwwwwwwww when it would actually connect. Room was OLD and felt OLD. TV from the mid 1980's, beds,sheets and linens as well. We had to keep the bathroom door shut as the leaking window was like keeping the door open. There was no way we could even think of taking a shower as the bathroom was literally freezing as outside temps was 30 degrees at 9:00am and the window would not close all of the way. Ice was forming in the shower bottom. As soon as we could we went to another hotel. Furthermore, this place is on the opposite end of town from anything you might need like Walmart, grocery stores, restaurants or coffee shops. For $78 a night there are a lot better places in Yreka. Avoid this place. read more

I stayed there for a week. I was staying there because I totaled my car and was injured, and staying in a motel room recovering and waiting for Geico to pay my claim. On my very last day, my dog spilled a cup of coffee on the bed. The manager immediately called my room while I was on my cell phone with Geico about my totaled car. He began to berate my about the spilled sheets. I was angry, told him I'd pay for the sheets, and slammed the phone down, to continue my call with Geico. The manager came to my room and pounded on my door. I was still on the phone, so I swore at him and slammed the door. It was near checkout time so I decided to switch to another hotel. The manager returned, banged on my door and I walked out, sore from my accident with my dog, to walk for a half hour in pain to my new hotel. The manager was on the phone with the police. I swore at him, threw the key at him and left the property. I walked to the new hotel, and was told I was just put on a Do Not Rent list!!! So I had to find another hotel!!!!!! I will be getting a lawyer and suing the manager for pain and suffering. I have NEVER met a more selfish person anywhere ever!!!!! And he considered himself to be a religious man! He had statues of religious figures everywhere. To top it all off, the hotel DOUBLE CHARGED MY LAST NIGHT!!!!!!!! I am working with my bank now to get this pending charge removed. read more

The Klamath has clearly been upgraded in some respects since some of the older reviews. It is not a luxury hotel, but a clean, safe, relatively quiet place to stay with free continental breakfast (more on that later). For $55 a night for a queen room with air conditioning, I don't expect much more than basic accomodations. The room I stayed in was small. The bed took up most of the space, but that didn't matter as I wasn't in Yreka to lounge in the hotel. There was a big flat screen TV that I did not watch, a desk with office chair (that really was too close to the end of the bed - we had to move the chair around to the side to smoothly pass between one side of the bed and the bathroom). There is an air conditioner which worked well and the curtains were heavy and good to block out light so you could sleep in the early morning hours with no difficulty. The real down side for me was the pillows on the bed. They were too fat and a little hard. We asked for an extra pillow and they happily obliged, though the second time we stayed there, we brought our own pillows from home. The bathroom was super clean and seemed to be new. There was a unit shower with a glass door, but not tub (which was all for the good as who takes a bath in a budget hotel?). They provided all of the usual amenities including shampoo/conditioner, lotion (which was made in China and smelled like crude oil to me), soap, towels, shower cap, etc. Ice is available as well near the Pepsi machine. The staff were reserved, but helpful. If you go into the lobby, they will either come out immediately or tell you they'll be with you soon. They are attentive, but not warm, but that's not a problem. Breakfast options included the best yogurt I've ever had (a brand that might be local?), bread for toast, frozen waffles with either sugar-free or regular syrup, butter, cereal, milk, coffee, juice, oatmeal packets, Svenhard's pastries, and tea. You put it together yourself and carry it to your room on a tray - very no fuss, but it certainly can fill any particular dietary needs without leaving the area. The Wi-Fi was excellent, but I stayed in room 12 which was close to the office. If you request a particular room, they'll do their best to accommodate you. We asked for a queen room on the single level part (we didn't want people above or below making noise), and they gave it to us. If you're worried about Wi-Fi, ask about a room closer to the office and you'll probably get a better signal. All in all, I'd definitely recommend this for someone who wants something clean (no bed bugs) and cheap with no frills, but with everything you need to suit basic travel needs. read more

Unable to get a room at our usual motel in a neighboring town, I booked a room here. It was quite a bit cheaper than other places I tried, but were also booked out. Expecting the quality to also be as low as the price, I remarked to the very friendly desk about the low price. She told me the quality of the room would be high. She was right! The room was roomy, attractive, and clean. The parking lot was full, but we remarked to each other as to how quiet the room was. There was plenty of hot water for our showers. The heater was quiet and efficient. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. Although it is not in the town where we visit, it was such a pleasure (and bargain) to stay here that we may choose this motel even with the distance. It was sure easy to hop back on highway 5 when we headed home and to find good places to eat, as well. I highly recommend it. read more

Maybe I'm Not as picky as I thought I was. We pulled in at 11:30 pm and our reserved room awaited us. It is within a few steps of the parking lot. Room 28. Exceeded my expectations. Clean. Central heat was appreciated as it was a chilly 46 degrees outside. It has a King bed with microwave, coffee and coffee maker, fridge and TV. Rugs are clean. Bed was comfy. Bathroom spotless. Bathtub looks discolored but is clean. Smells good. No odors. I called this booking in and spoke to Rickey first. He was very pleasant. I called a few hours later to tell them we wouldn't be there til midnight. I spoke to URVI. She was pleasant. Checked in as promised. The gal was pleasant. No complaints and a very good value for the money. Traveling for us, doesn't require too much. We just need a place to lay our heads, refresh and keep moving. This place is perfect to crash at night. Got a room with 2 queen beds for $75. Couldn't have asked for better. Heads up , this is not a luxurious hotel, it's got the basics to get you a good night sleep. Perfect place to crash for the night if you traveling between crater lake and lake shasta. I pulled into to town looking for a one night stay around midnight on on a roadtrip from Portland to central california. the lights were on, sign said "OPEN", advertising said open 24/7, yet noone answered the night-bell. I called, eventually a sleepy female voice answered. I had to say "I'd like to rent a room" about 3 times before she said "OK". Then I waited what seemed to be at least 10 minutes before driving out, never having seen an attendant who could rent me a room. I headed down the road to a national chain where a nice evening clerk rented me a clean, comfortable room for about $20 more than I would have paid at the Klamath Motor Lodge. She missed my one night fare; too bad, it looked like the place could have only been about 1/4 full from the scattered set of cars in the parking lot. read more

I killed it- a bunch of blood came out. I immediately knew it was bed bugs! I had never in my 32 years of life have encountered them. It was horrible! I got my 4 & 6 year old outta there asap! I'm so scared I'm bringing them creatures home with me. I'm so upset! I went to front desk- sign says there open and no one there. I'm so disgusted by this place! Definitely impressed how clean it was even though it's an older hotel. Things are not 100% up-to-date or looking brand new but definitely a good value. I can't stand a dirty room. We stopped at the motel 6 nearby drove around the building decided definitely not to stay there regardless of the price. We were looking for a pet friendly hotel. Came to Klamath Motor Lodge and was happily surprised, The room was very good sized we had a king size bed table 2 comfortable chairs and table, a desk & chair & coffee area. We were in a pet friendly room. Everything was extremely clean. This is not a new hotel it is an older hotel but is definitely worth the price. It has a fridge, microwave & flatscreen TV shower decent. Coffee maker and coffee at the check-in. And a decent price comparable to motel 6 but this is much much better. There is a $15 pet fee but it was worth it. The room was large enough to bring in both our bikes and they were out of the way. read more

I read reviews but booked it because I spoke to man directly and he quoted me a very good price compared to other motels in the small city. Of course, getting there, the price was out the door and over paid for room. I really did not want to be hunting for a room after traveling 10 hrs in a car. As you walk into office, to the right, you notice the breakfast bar, consist of rack of instant oatmeal, mini fridge with milk and juices, in containers, toaster on top of fridge and generic cereal in doggy dispensers. A big pass on breakfast. The room was nice painted, sheets clean and neat, small but clean. Give them that. Being a heatwave that day, the A/C was greatly welcomed. Only bad thing about room was how loud the A/C was, no bearing or unusual motor noise, just loud, so loud you have to turn up volume on tv to hear tv. Trying to sleep with the A/C was difficult, not used to that loud of an A/C. Found out on this trip at other motel at destination, they are the same, just loud. Place ok, way over priced. read more

I've stayed at this place twice on my many motorcycle trips here. The staff here is very accomodating to motorcycles. They offer up extra rags and towels for wiping off that road grime. The pool is nice to soak in after a hot day on the road. Rooms are clean and cheap if you're splitting with another person. Overall a fun place to stay on those road trips. read more

Stay away. Even on a budget there are much better options in Yreka. The bathtub had obviously not been cleaned in a while as there was a thick ring when my daughter took her bath. The front desk staff is barely cognizant of your presence unless they want you to do something. The pool is pretty filthy with bugs and debris. We asked if we could check out late when our daughter came down with a weird stomach bug after a night sleeping on their beds and swimming in the pool. I was told the latest we could check out was an hour late. Finally, the "continental breakfast" is cut rate packaged pastries and atrocious coffee reminding me more of an alcoholics anonymous meeting than an advertised amenity at a place attempting to get repeat business. We'd rather risk moving our daughter than stay another night. The next time we are traveling through we look forward to stopping again in Yreka as it's a lovely town full of friendly people and surprisingly good food. We will not be staying here unless the other options are all booked up. read more

We stayed here for 1 night as we were traveling back to Arizona from Washington. We were very pleased with the condition of the room. It was large and everything was clean. The bed was very comfortable. Price was cheap too at about 60 bucks for a single King size bed. I could see when I checked in that the continental breakfast was simply cold cereal, apples, bananas, and maybe muffins or something like that. We wanted to get going so left at 5:45AM and didn't stick around for the minimal breakfast that starts at 6:30AM. The WiFi connection was also excellent and allowed us to stream an HD movie off Amazon Prime with no issues. All in all, I would stay here again. read more

Very nice lady checked us in- rooms are very clean, the king size bed wasn't to bad. Looks like they have been doing some upgrading. Flat screen TV, The bedding all smelled freshly washed which is very nice you can tell they really care. It Had a microwave, small ice box, the towels where nice and white. Three stars because it's pretty much your average motel. It looks like a family owned place and even though it's a little 'low rent' compared to a lot of higher end (and higher priced) places I would definitely stay again. If it wasn't kind of outdated and old (that is it could use a bit of more modern furniture, carpet, etc) I would give it a full five stars. That said, I wasn't expecting much. In fact I was expecting less than good all things considered: not a national chain, off the 'motel row' strip, in what appeared in the dark to be a 'sketchy-ish' part of town (in the light of day it's not that bad), and me not knowing anything about Yreka other than it's the first place to get a room in California coming from Seattle. All of *that(* said... They were really nice and helpful checking in. She gave us the AARP rate even though we couldn't find either of our cards (so much for my zeal to be well organized!). We could have easily been scamming them for that 10-20% (or whatever it is) discount. We weren't, but we could have been, so it was really nice that she wasn't hard-assed about us having it. The room was clean though when opening the door there was a very strong odor of whatever industrial cleaning stuff they use. I though t about asking for a different room, but I was so tired I just opened the bathroom window and door for a few and it went away pretty quickly. We couldn't figure out how to use the AC remote and they were very nice about showing us how to make it work. The AC works well but it's in the wall up high. It would be better at cooling the room (and me!) if it was located at a lower level, but it was overall fine. Bathroom was clean. Shampoo, lotion, plenty of soaps (the bigger motel size soaps not just the tiny ones) and plenty of towels. Bed was super comfy and linens were clean. I did a bed bug check because...nada, so yay for that. I didn't use the pool but the pool itself as well as the pool area was very clean and in good repair. Also "free Wifi" *is* free wifi. No BS about 'oh free but we are still doing a surcharge, or ok well wifi it's $X per 24 (or however many) hours.' Straight up included in the price of the room.
