3.5 stars -- Clean, comfy bed, mattress & boxspring have covers to prevent bugs, convenient to have fridge, microwave & coffee maker. Breakfast has decent options of oatmeal, fresh waffles, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, cereal, white toast, and packaged danish, coffee, hot chocolate, lipton tea, creamer, and orange or apple juice. Some other guests were loud but I kept the fan on all night and it blocked out noise well. Shower had good water temp & pressure. TV was only downside but not a big deal, but I asked at the front as it wasn't connecting to Dish. I was able to unplug & replug the settop box and it reset but the remote needed to be charged as it only worked when right next to the settop box. Don't be fooled by the pictures of this place. Those pictures are not updated. I was traveling from Washington to California and decided to stay at a hotel at the halfway point of my travel; Yreka was the halfway point. I've read good reviews of this place and decided to give Super 8 a chance. You get what you paid for and trust me this place is not good enough for a penny. I booked at Super 8 in Yreka for one night, but when I arrived to check in. The older blonde lady at the front desk told me that i had booked for two nights which was not true. So I asked to speak to the manager. She brought me a guy that was dressed in musty gym clothes and said, "this is the manager. Well he's not the manager but he's like the manager right now.". This man had the meanest attitude I've ever encountered. He kept repeating the "policy" of the hotel. He would cut me off mid-sentence which is a huge pet peeve of mine. I told him that I listened to you now it's time for you to listen to me. I explained that I had not booked 2 nights, I presented my Expedia app and it showed that I had booked for one. I was charged $256. He aggressively told me that he would not give me a refund because of the ridiculous policy. I grew exhausted of talking to him so I left. He followed me outside and kept running his mouth about how he's right and I'm wrong. I do not recommend this hotel especially if you're traveling with kids. read more

We were heading north over the pass during freezing conditions, so we decided to stop overnight in Yreka and start fresh during daylight. We arrived at midnight, there were only a couple of other cars in the parking lot. Even though we had called to arrange check-in at a late hour, it took someone a really long time to let us in the lobby. It looks like maybe there's been some renovation done here. As we were leaving there were people re-roofing the building. I was only there for 11 hours, so I can't say much about how it would be to stay long term or how well the fridge and microwave work. It was very clean and colorfully decorated. It is worth noting that the mattresses in my room were on the firm side. The rate was more than I would have been willing to pay if I had planned in advance. read more

I was making a 12 Hour drive from Vancouver, Washington to Fresno, California. About six hours in I realized that I had not slept long enough the previous night, and was not going to be able to make it all the way to Fresno in one day like usual. I went on to a third-party discount website to see what was in the area. Super 8 came up as highly recommended and the price was right. I booked my stay for one night on the discount website. About 30 minutes later I arrived and they had just received my reservation. Score! Check in was very smooth and fast. We got our room and moved in. The room was spacious with a large king bed for me and my six-year-old daughter to share. There was a table and some chairs. The room was clean and smelled fresh. Everything worked and most importantly for me, both the bathroom and the sheets were very clean. I am kind of a stickler about that and everything was simply great. I was so tired that we just ordered some pizza, ate it and watched tv, and went to bed. I would absolutely stay here again should I need to. read more

Wow, what a great hotel. You can check in starting at 1p! The front desk service was friendly and quick. The room was huge compared to all the places I stayed the last week. The decor is beautiful. All the other places had dated furniture and cheap picture frames. This place was top notch. Comfortable bed and pillows too. I felt like a got a bargain for the low price I paid for this place. This motel is right off the freeway in the small town of Yreka. There is pretty much nothing to do around these parks, so if you're just looking for somewhere to crash it's great. I couldnt believe how large the room was. Especially the bed. Our room once again had a fridge, microwave, and this time a nice little sitting area. The flat screen TV was great because it included cable channels that we do not have at home. The bathroom could use some work when it comes to the sealing of the cracks but other than that it was a good night stay. read more

Our last night in California as we are relocating elsewhere. Stayed only one night, but it was comfortable. Even though there were a lot of work vehicles and such....and they were up at out at o'dark-thirty...they were quiet. Coffee/breakfast area is small, but people nicely took turns and were patient. Good variety for a smallish establishment. Good off and on the highway. Would definitely stay here again if the chance arises. read more

Room seemed clean at first but I woke up with horrible itchy rash on both arms. Looked under the mattress cover and they have a serious bed bug issue. Checked out and went to a different hotel. Bites stopped. Also the maids were smoking right outside my room in the morning. cheap price, decent sized room but the bugs and proximity to the freeway were deal killers. It was a perfect cheap place to stay for the night! The room was clean and spacious; it smelled clean as we walked in. The bathroom was clean and had all the amenities. Staff was super friendly. Continental breakfast had oatmeal, yoghurt, hard boiled eggs, coffee, and apples. It felt very covid concious the way it was served. Would definitely come again if in the area! On 11/25/2023, I arrived at the hotel after 12:30 am and encountered a confusing situation at the entrance door. There were two doorbells, one regular white bell and the other with a camera. It was unclear which one to ring, so I pushed both. The person working at that time was not polite and expressed frustration at me for ringing the bell twice. He was angry, and his behavior was unprofessional. I understand that he may have been woken up, but I did not intend to cause any trouble. I was not to blame for the situation, as the hotel should have clear instructions for the guests to follow. Despite his attitude, I kept my cool and tried to reason with him, but he continued to be rude and unapologetic. As a tired guest, I felt very uncomfortable and upset by his behavior. Quick stop from Portland to Sacramento. Check in was quick, downstairs room as requested. Nothing fancy but served it's purpose. Pros: Clean, laminate floors, comfy bed and quiet. Not on the bedbug registry. Cons: Gravel pit for dog area and despite bags and receptacle for waste doesn't appear to be used. I am very disappointed with this place. Got here late and there were 3 guys walking back and forth in front of my Jeep. I waited outside the lobby to see if they would do anything but they just kept looking back at me and my girlfriend. When I told the front desk lady what was happening, she didn't care and just said, "oh they're probably truckers". The room was worth the cheaper price you pay to stay one night with a king bed. The room was clean and the bed was ok. I gave it a 3 instead of a 4 due to the breakfast was not great. They do offer more than a lot of other cheaper hotels, but the waffle mix was to thin and the syrup was watered down. No other hot food. Check in and out was easy and staff were friendly. read more

Do not stay at the Super 8 in Yreka if you wish to have a non smoking room. They advertise their rooms as non-smoking, but that is not true. After driving 4 hours to yreka, we arrived to the hotel ready to sleep. We walk into our a room and it clearly has a smoke odor. The nice man at the front desk offered to put us into another room (the second room was a queen size bed when our original room was a king size bed) and this room also smelled like smoke. When I tried to have Expedia process a refund for my room, they said they were unable to because they manager would not give a waiver to process the refund. After trying multiple times to get a hold of the manager Ben, he finally called me back several days later. After explaining to him the situation, he said he would not be able to give us a refund because we stayed in the room too long, when in reality we were in each of the rooms for less than 30 minutes (the only reason we were in the room for that long is because we had to call other hotels to make sure we actually had a place to sleep in that night). Ben the manager said he can't give a refund because we stayed in the rooms too long (less than an hour! And only because we tried find accommodation at another hotel) he doesn't believe I am an honest person. He was absolutely rude on the phone to call me not honest, I would have liked nothing more than to have stayed at the super 8 that night because I was tired after a very long drive. The fact is, he is not honest because he claims to have gone into the rooms and "verified" that they didn't smell like smoke. Why would i LIE about the condition of the room and book a room at the best western for $150? Knowing full well that i might not get a refund from the super 8? What do i have to gain by my "lie?" In reality, i lost a lot of money having to pay for a room at the super 8 that i didn't sleep in AND buying another room at the best western. I did, however, gain a clean, odorless room by choosing not to stay at the super 8. You're much better off staying at the Best Western in Yreka. It's definitely worth the extra money for the room. Especially if you value good customer service (or at the bare minimum just not being called an dishonest person by hotel management) and a clean, smokeless room. I look forward to Ben's response to this email because he said he plans on responding to my "scare tactic" of leaving a bad review. It's not a scare tactic though, it's just an honest review of my experience at the super 8. read more

When I stay at a Super 8, especially one in Yreka, my expectations are low. It is merely a place to crash after being on the road before going on the road again to somewhere else. That said, I was super-amazed at how, well, super this place was for a Super 8. 8 Ways it is Super: 8. Free wi-fi! 7. Eco-friendly dispensers for shampoo, conditioner, and body wash instead of the little bottles 6. Free breakfast. Very basic, but fresh fruit and free 5. Shockingly fast free wi-fi 4. Nice, efficient front desk employees 3. Quiet. Neighbors and outdoor noise I heard not. 2. Towels that weren't see-through and got me thoroughly dry 1. For a cheap motel this wasn't bad at all. I typically enjoy staying in nicer hotels when I am on vacation, but when you just need some place to sleep in the middle of a long drive, this did just fine. The room was large and clean. They gave us a great rate (took a little more off since we came so late) Bonus of having free and pretty quick wi-fi in all the rooms. The shower sucked and they gave us a ripped towel, but overall it was far better than the typical cheap motel experience. read more

This is a very nice motel. We stayed there on the way down to Tahoe and because of how nice it was we stayed on the way back a week later. Check in was easy no problems, both rooms have been remodeled ( I imagine they all have ), they were clean and well kept up. Big rooms with a couch and coffee table and the beds were very comfortable. The breakfast was more then enough food with cereals, waffles, yogurt, fruit, and standard drinks. This is a disgusting hotel!!! There are rat traps on the way up the stairs welcoming one to their room. The "laundry room" and "lounge" are filthy used to store old HVAC equipment and beds. The washing machine is filthy and could not be used. The door cannot be closed tightly to shut out the daylight. In other words, it is not sealed. One of the features states it has a "jetted" tub. I travel to Yreka four times a year on my way to Seattle. I have stayed twice at this motel. The rooms are large and the motel is set back from the freeway so no noise. The property is at the norther end of Yreka with easy freeway access. Good value for the price. The breakfast is donuts rolls and cereal, served in the small office. read more

The girl at the desk should be re trained. She should not do customer service in any way. It was when we started to check in and then she need our license and cc for Incidentals (room was pre paid) that was find and then after she ran our card she came back with oh you need 100.00 deposit. It was all odd to me so I started questioning it when she first took the card she said what it was for but did not say she was running it to see if a deposit needed to be paid or not. All she could say was corporate. She would not tell me what she did to. One up with the 100.00. When I asked for her supervisor she did not have one there but she called her and was very snooty to us to the supervisor and ki da talked in code with her. Not once did the girl tell the supervisor I asked to talk to her and when I said that she said well I cant give you the phone. When then she told me I could just leave I let her know ow the room was And nonrefundable so I needed something showing I could get my money back she said to call Expedia because that's who we made the reservation with however we made the reservation with orbits. She then told us to leave and she does not have to help us. It was my husband and I and 3bkids in the car I told her that I needed my money back or something showing I was getting my money back. So she called the cops on us and when she was telling them what we looked like she called us fat. I am not saying we are skinny but not okay as customer service. The ops came. 2 real nice guys. Never once did they ask us to leave. They understood why I was not leaving and didnot understand why the girl was being the way she was. Then her boss drove in and started to figure out what was going on in full. The cops could tell we were not a problem the girl said she was terrified of me. Have to Laugh at that one first of all I needed to have a understanding of something that she would not give and I did not tell or scream maybe raised my voice. The cops were amazing and help us get what we needed. The boss did come out and solved our problem. Beeding a place to stay for the night for we already paid for it. I feel if the girl would of bean trained the right way this would of never turned into what it did. And it did not work the way she was hoping with the cops coming and kicking us out. When the girl first called her boss she should of let her know I asked to talk to her and maybe if ask for help with the questions I was asking that she did not know. 1 Star for Location 1 Star for Room Being Clean We are returning guests, who rated this motel very high last time, however were very disappointed with customer service and denial of our very simple request this time. Were checking in on 5/26 afternoon, at 4pm (pretty early) and asked to give us a room on the first floor. We had heavy stuff and my wife is pregnant, so we thought it would be easier. Well, the employee denied and said that all downstairs room had SPECIAL requests from guests. At the time, there were 5 guest in the hotel checked in. Funny, huh. I didn't believe her, but didn't wan to make a big deal out of it even though I could. Well, guess what!!! Our friends who didn't make any special requests got a room on the first floor. Motel management responded to an email inquiry that it is hard to rearrange rooms once they been pre-assigned. Well, I don't buy that, its super easy, saw it done in seconds. if you ever have the great pleasure of traveling up I-5..you know you'll want to slit you wrists mere hours into the trip. if you have any piece of mind to rest your weary head the super 8 will confirm those exact suicidal tendencies if you chose to stay here. being a germ-a-phobe in general has its daily challenges. (the makers of purell know this well.we are close friends). but when forced into the small confines of a hotel: bed-dresser-tv-table-desk...there isn't enough purell to go around...and lord knows i was kicking myself for not packing that darn Lysol spray...and not just for the farts either... (guys! it kills 99.9% of germs!) adequate sized room-looked more like it could be rented by the hour than for the night. way outdated...i felt like i was in an episode of Cops circa1985. you know, the one where they set up the sting operation to trap the hookers...you *know* you've seen that episode. major minus points for the juicy bug (i mean, this guy was meaty) in the shower in the morning. where was the rest of his family while i lie asleep the night before??? major props for the continental breakfast although scant (at best) ..bagels, cereal, etc. it worked...really, all i need are some carbs to get me going in the morning. We noticed a brand new Holiday Inn Express across the way. even though super 8 was $60/night i would be willing to put it all on the line and (gasp) pay a bit more (prolly about $100 there)..my feeling is that the HI might be a little more updated/clean...but don't quote me on that ;-) it is new construciton over tehre after all. how bad could it be after only a few months in business. read more
