The trash in the bathroom cabinet
    Edgar C.

It was four of us, and two dogs driving into town. We got in late, sometime after midnight, so needless to say we were exhausted from a long trip. The room was listed for $61/night... I got charged $8/person for two additional people AND $8/dog. Which after 16hrs of driving I thought fine just give me my room key and let us get some sleep. The room was dirty there was trash in the bathroom, the carpet was filthy, and the towels were raggedy. Not worth the $90+ we spent to stay one night in this nasty motel. Bunch of crooks!

Old property, but clean and comfortable. Fairly priced. Small shower with old fixtures. Runs out of hot water.

Nice owners, basic needs are met. Wifi signal is very weak though, almost never worked. Other than that though, no issues.

From my very first stay as a brand new rewards member, and 99.99% of the time thereafter, I have been greeted with a "Thank you for being a _________ level rewards member." I always take the time to remark to staff how amazed I am at the consistency of that small gesture. I'm now at the top tier (after four years of patronage) and it is still consistent. I thanked the person for the appreciation and was gifted a little Valentine's Day goodie bag. It had candy in it, sour candy which I am particularly fond of. This location is fairly new or recently renovated - oddly enough the toilet seat was one item showing wear. But carpet, decor, tile, all looked newer. In the dining area, they have the Costa Coffee automatic brewing machines. Those are fairly new addition in some of the properties and it really ups the coffee quality. Yreka also employed one of my favorite condiments, half and half in an insulated pitcher. I don't expect this at small town properties. It is pretty common in Washington and Oregon, where the populace takes their coffee more seriously. So, that was an especially pleasant discovery in the morning. The room was an upgrade to a suite (thank you!) and spacious. Though not a suite in the traditional sense. I didn't really care. It just had a love seat or small couch and coffee table in the room. I had time for breakfast, unfortunately bacon was not offered. So, I selected scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy. It was okay. The biscuits were moist, the gravy lukewarm (not a huge fan of sausage gravy) and the fake eggs (I'm sure made from some packaged eggs.) were edible. But the coffee was good, even better with the fresh half and half. All HIEs have a great spread for their complimentary breakfast. Usually something for everyone. Pancake machine, warm cinnamon rolls, cereals, some form of eggs, and a breakfast meat or two, fruit, yogurt, juices etc. If you are ever in Yreka, consider the Holiday Inn Express. It is a good deal and

We had to roll up towels to try to block it from entering our room under the door. Honestly surprised a smoke detector wasn't triggered #2 around 6:00 AM the guests directly above us clearly had kids who proceeded to run back and forth for 2 solid hours....so much for sleeping in. Breakfast staff named Amber is absolutely lovely! Food was typical hotel breakfast.

TV was only downside but not a big deal, but I asked at the front as it wasn't connecting to Dish. I was able to unplug & replug the settop box and it reset but the remote needed to be charged as it only worked when right next to the settop box. I've read good reviews of this place and decided to give Super 8 a chance. You get what you paid for and trust me this place is not good enough for a penny. I booked at Super 8 in Yreka for one night, but when I arrived to check in. The older blonde lady at the front desk told me that i had booked for two nights which was not true. So I asked to speak to the manager. She brought me a guy that was dressed in musty gym clothes and said, "this is the manager. Well he's not the manager but he's like the manager right now.". This man had the meanest attitude I've ever encountered. He kept repeating the "policy" of the hotel. He would cut me off mid-sentence which is a huge pet peeve of mine. I told him that I listened to you now it's time for you to listen to me. I explained that I had not booked 2 nights, I presented my Expedia app and it showed that I had booked for one. I was charged $256. He aggressively told me that he would not give me a refund because of the ridiculous policy. I grew exhausted of talking to him so I left. He followed me outside and kept running his mouth about how he's right and I'm wrong. I do not recommend this hotel especially if you're traveling with kids.

The bedroom was OK but the bathroom left us with serious doubts. The towel rack at the sink fell off the first time it was touched. How it stayed up when the towel was placed on it is anybody's guess. While the bathroom may have been clean, it did not give that appearance. No showers this stay. Maintenance and new fixtures needed. Someone else mentioned the blankets- what blankets? What served as a blanket was more like a heavy muslin sheet and not that heavy at that. If all you need is a place to sleep this place is probably the best priced place you'll find. We didn't need a heavy blanket but I think the Desk would have provided additional "blankets". As I said they were most accommodating.

We thought that since we're just sleeping, it shouldn't be that bad. I'm telling you it is! The girl who checked us in was super helpful & friendly. We got in @ 1AM and left 9-ish. The area was dark and had that sketchy vibe. We were on the 2nd floor and there was a guy who left his door open while he was sleeping. When we woke up, it was still open. Nothing bad happened to him, thank goodness but it was just weird. Anyhoo, i left my prescription glasses and the first time i called, they said it wasn't there. I called again (after trying all the places we stayed in) and mentioned that it may have been under the pillow and they found it --- uhm, don't you change the sheets and pillow cases for new guests? So i was told to send a box for them to put my glasses in there with a label to get it back to me. I did and everytime i called to follow up; i never get any decent response. No one knows what's going on and frankly no one cares ---- again, you get what you paid for. If it was something unimportant, i wouldn't even bother but it is and they just don't care. Look at all the bad reviews they get? So when looking for a place i. this area, keep on looking; don't say i didn't warn ya.
