When you read the reviews on Yelp, it must be from the people that live here. Yes, there are at least 25 to 35 long term, as in forever tenants. This is a trailer park with about 20 reservable spots. The map may show 50+, but many of those are taken up by tenants, not overnight RVers. Upon check in, I was greeted by a lady, she was cordial, but she was scatter-braied, or she was in a hurry to get out of the office at 3pm. I asked if she could tell me what the last 4 digits of my credit card that I paid with. She started digging through a booking journal, lost! She got frustrated because she wanted to leave. She couldn't find my entry but she gave my packet that showed paid in full. My spot was within 50 yards of the office, but she wanted to have me follow her to the spot. The spaces are small. You get a very small picnic bench. It has FHU, there is a small dog area that hasn't been mowed in months. They say they serve popcorn after 2pm, it was 3pm when we checked in and the popcorn machine had 10 kernels in it. Overall, it is a 1+, nowhere near a 4.5 that the YELP shows. See photos. Someplace are rundown and trashy. I will try the other trailer park next time.

    Nice level, pull thru's.

Perfect RV park. Easy to check-in. Trish was extremely helpful. Really quiet, and close to gas stations, fast food and Walmart.

Stopped because of the reviews- not disappointed! Staff was friendly and helpful the sites are shaded with beautiful trees and very level. Hookups are in great shape and there is cable at each site. Quiet and serene. The prices were great for Cali. Bathrooms extremely clean. They even have a reward card - stay 5 nights ( doesn't have to be consecutive) and night #6 is free. These folks work hard for 5 star reviews and it shows. Really glad we stopped here - would stay again for sure.

One row of RV sites - Love the shade trees!

We were a bit worried by the road there (lots of fair sized holes) and the weather (California was experiencing a bad heat wave, and it was 105 here), and considered only staying one of our two nights. So so glad we stayed both nights. The wild horses were hanging out the whole time, and much of it in front of our trailer. I'm sure the heat drove them down to the river and tasty lawn. We also saw the blue heron, bats, and two river otters! Baby bird above the men's bathroom. Lots to see and enjoy. This place is pristine and quiet. We'd just come from a gross Thousand Trails and a loud state park. Coming here with the clean (and air conditioned!!) bathrooms and showers was lovely. The hosts were so nice. And it just felt quiet and relaxing, only punctuated by territorial stallions making a fuss. Nice additions are the giant shaded area with picnics tables and Adirondack chairs to hang out in- our space didn't have a tree so the shaded option was much appreciated. This is a way away from us, but we hope to come back and spend more time here. Also- shoutout to the hosts who spend a lot of time cleaning up horse poop to keep the roads clean for us!

Perfect for kids as stream is wide but very shallow. RV's in outside of circle with a beautiful common grassy area in center. Ideal for groups. Large common eating. Lots of bike riding and perfect for kids. Reasonably priced. Cons: Limited parking and very tight spaces. Charge $2/day for dog. Provide dog poop bags but nowhere to dispose. You'd think there would be some kind of disposal where the bags are but no...There is a sign that says to dispose at trash near laundry room. I walked almost the entire park and couldn't find the laundry room. And not a single trash can!!! They expect their rver's to haul their garbage across the park and then fling in into those huge dumpsters that many of us can't reach or are to old to get the needed height. And it's gross and smelly. Many parks pick up garbage daily or have reasonably sized cans spaced around the park. McCloud is noted for its wandering bears but there has to be a better solution... The next day I set out for the trash by the laundry room. I found the laundry room with a sign "Call this number and the office will text the key code. Someone is borrowing too much toilet paper." Really??? A resort this size can't afford toilet paper so the entire clientele have to suffer this inconvenience??? This wasn't for us. Could hardly get thru with one lane. Our neighbors were way too close. Tables were situated behind the rv as no room beside. Everyone had dogs but no fenced area for off lease. The dog park was a dusty trail along the fence next to the highway. Dogs were aloud on the grassy areas and everyone was good about picking up.

Beautiful space, grouchy raunchy camp hosts/owners…read more When we first pulled in we thought we had found our annual getaway location. We paid for three nights, but fully expected to extend our stay for two or three more. But shortly after we set up Bob the camp host showed up and sort of hijacked us on a tour of the house he's building and the park waterways, the development history, and more. On the surface we thought that was very nice of him, and was very informative. But the reality was that he dragged my wife and I around on a 40-year-old golf cart while he told raunchy jokes about such things as Monica Lewinsky in great detail, shared his opinions on world affairs, bragged about his influence in the McCloud area, and more, all with a spin towards the lewd and raunchy. We tried to accommodate him because he is an elderly fellow and we had never met him, but I have to admit it times it felt like we were in the opening scenes of a trashy slasher movie, and I was looking at every shadow and open doorway for a possible sighting of someone with a hockey mask. We couldn't wait for him to drop us back off at our campsite Also, every park has upsells, which is fine. But this park advertises itself as a fly fishing Ranch but charges $65 per hour for catch and release fishing. There are at least a dozen spots within 5 miles where you can fish for free. The McCloud river is a world-class Blue ribbon trout fishing stream -free fishing with a license, all day every day The 30-amp plug didn't work, we used the 15 amp standby plug during our stay. We have a small Casita which doesn't draw much power, so it was okay. During our visit we watched Bob and his wife Maylon be more than a little overzealous with other guests about camp rules. While we were in the cart with him, he didn't think twice about stopping to chastise to adult campers who were on e-bikes on evidently the wrong trails in the park. His reasoning was that he didn't let kids bike in that area of the park because he was worried one of the children might drive a bike into one of the ponds, so he couldn't let these adults driving very sophisticated two or $3,000 e-bikes bike back there either. It was awkward for us to be in the car with him while he was addressing these other guests. The next day, we got our turn being on the wrong end of Bob and Maylons grouchiness. They pulled into our campsite and abruptly told us we had to turn our music off. We were playing Willie Nelson quite low, but they heard it from the next campsite over. No camper complained. This was at 5:00 p.m. . The park rules site quiet hours from 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. this was on a Monday, after we had listened to loud construction noises from a bathroom remodel two campsites over all day Saturday and Sunday until well after dark, which we did not complain about or even get bothered by until our battery powered speaker was just more than they could stand to listen to. We had conversations with other campers, wonderful folks who we met during our stay, who observed the things things we did and felt the same way. It was a common observation that it was a beautiful spot, but The grouchy and raunchy demeanor of the camp host took a lot of the joy away of the stay. One family with whom we had especially nice conversations, decided to end their trip three days early, after having driven all the way from Las Vegas, some 12-hour drive. As we exited the park I found the owner and told him how unsettling his demeanor had been and try to explain that his method of dealing with errant e-bike riders and our little speaker playing music left a lot to be desired. I told him I was especially upset by the raunchy, graphic, jokes he told in front of my wife, and he denied having told them. I feel sorry for the staff member who happened to be in the office when we were having this conversation, but I told Bob that he was a liar and reminded him we were on the deck of his new house and the exact nature of the joke that he told. He simply spun on his heel and went back into his residence. In short, if you come here expect a beautiful space but some raunchy and grouchy camp hosts/owners. If you talk to Bob, it's probably best to keep your wife and children away, and if you talk to Maylon, don't expect much in the way of smiles or gracious camp host demeanor that you might expect in such a place. To close, Fridays RV resort - been there done that, didn't buy the t-shirt, not going back.

I am a tad arrogant, having access to the some of the best cuisine by living close to San Francisco. Now to be fair, their price point reflects what you see sitting on the plate before you. The service is polite. Ambiance is fun. I ran around in these train cars as a child while vacationing with family 30 years ago. My advice would be, go with what works. The previous owner had it going on, knew the territory so to speak. This place has "warning Will Robbinson" all over it, like sushi in Kansas. A tuckered out Fly Fisherman would prefer a great steak and baked potato. No shame in that, it is the pillar of American dining. If I want foo-foo, I will go to SFO. But then again, I think the food in Paris is "OK", (specifically their entrees) Paris has great bread, crackers and cheese. Alright, pastry, baguets, and fromage. All the offerings in Italy are amazing and the only thing to eat in the UK are chippies. The best "foo foo food" was Betlenut Pan-Asian on Union Street in San Francisco. Lost their lease however. THAT was the bom-d-idly. Hey if you want a fabulous steak, try Jacks in DT Redding. Great place, but you will wait an hour, maybe two. But it is worth the wait. Has an interesting provenance, the location and building itself, was a house of ill repute back in the FDR days, so the legend goes. Cafe Maddalena in Dunsmuir is excellent as well. This faux fusion/euro/cubano/too cool to be true... might make 2 years max. It is the epitome of "The fastest way to make a small fortune, out of a large fortune is to start a restaurant." Inherited money, I can smell it burning in the kitchen.

Then I remembered the beautiful Scenic Highway (CA-96) "Bigfoot Scenic Byway" - boasting the most Bigfoot sightings - connecting the coast to the I-5 in far-northern California. I've always wanted to drive it, so I figured I'd check to see if there were any camping options along the route, and I came across Bigfoot RV Park & Cabins in this quaint little town called Happy Camp. Since they are a private property, they were still able to be open during this covid craziness, and they did a great job with making sure things were clean and social distancing was practiced. We happened to be the only ones "tent camping" as others had RV's or cabins booked. The area for tent camping is a little courtyard that has chairs, a bonfire area, and it's right next to a very clean and well-kept bathroom, shower, and laundry room. The camping courtyard is a bit small and probably wouldn't fit too many tents if people want their space, but again I think most people are there for RV's and cabins. My favorite things about this place were a) the location - "Happy Camp" is such a cute little town along the Klamath River, so you can walk a short distance and be right in the middle of tall trees and rolling rivers... b) the owners who were very down-to-earth and made it feel like everyone there is family, and c) the overall vibe. It doesn't feel like you're in California or Oregon for that matter; it's its own little piece of the Klamath River. If you find yourself in Northern California or Southern Oregon looking for a gorgeous little getaway, I highly recommend it here!
