I purchased a top‑of‑the‑line Speed Queen dryer from SK Lavery--nearly a $2,000 appliance--and it…read morearrived defective from day one. The installer immediately noted the loud banging noise. The dryer also scorched an expensive comforter and now requires multiple cycles just to dry a normal load. I contacted SK Lavery several times and spoke with Tiffany. While she did schedule a service call (for a brand‑new machine), she made it clear that I was expected to deal with Speed Queen directly. SK Lavery delivered a defective product yet refused to take ownership or provide real support. This is not the SK Lavery I once trusted. They may sell high‑end appliances, but they do not stand behind them. Once they have your money, you're on your own. This situation could have been handled easily if SK Lavery had taken responsibility instead of shifting the burden onto the customer. Until they change course, I strongly recommend staying away--there are plenty of reputable high‑end appliance dealers who still value accountability and customer service.

I visited the Old Saybrook location specifically looking for Viking appliances, only to find out…read morethey no longer carry them. I then inquired about Bosch appliances and was shown a few options. While taking a photo of a range to send to my husband, the sales manager abruptly knocked the phone out of my hand and told me photos were not allowed. I was completely shocked--especially after calmly explaining that I was simply sharing it with my spouse. The manager, who appeared to be older, was surprisingly aggressive and confrontational. I was left wondering how a company could justify employing someone who treats potential customers this way. I am currently shopping for a full suite of appliances--including a double oven, refrigerator, two dishwashers (for the main kitchen and butler's pantry), and a cooktop--so this could have been a significant sale. Frankly, I'm relieved this happened before making any purchases. I can only imagine how difficult it would be to deal with this store if any issues arose after a sale.

I bought a KitchenAid double oven which I have loved ever since. It was the mid November and I needed it by Thanksgiving and they accommodated me! I got a great deal--the Black Friday discount as that was in effect for the whole month. I'm in the market for a clothes washer, and I will be going there first!

When we realized our Frigidaire refrigerator was on its last legs and we urgently needed a new one,…read morewe chose P.C. Richard & Son, largely because it's the closest appliance store to our house. We did our research, knew what we wanted, and discovered that all the local stores had identical pricing. So it came down to who could deliver the quickest. P.C. Richard was our first (and, ultimately, only) stop. We were not accosted immediately upon entering, but allowed to wander among the rows of refrigerators on display. When we located the model we'd seen online, the salesman was quick to get our sale completed and our delivery set up. Delivery occurred three days later, and that's where the dissatisfaction began. Our delivery window of 1-4PM got later throughout the day, and delivery finally occurred at 5:15PM, during dinner time and a substantial rainstorm. No courtesy call to let us know they were on the way; I just happened to look out my window and there they were, unboxing my fridge in the rain. Had they let me know they were en route, I could've emptied the old fridge and freezer in advance. I don't want to say the delivery guys were inept, but... why unpack the fridge in the truck and carry dripping wet components into the customers' home? Why not carry the box into our garage and unbox it there? Also, they seemed annoyed that I wanted to wipe the rain off each piece, thereby slowing them down; they didn't bring a ladder and had to use our step stool; and in their haste to get it installed and on to the next customer, they left pieces of plastic wrap embedded under the door handles. Plus, they scratched our freezer drawer. Nice fridge that's working well (a week into ownership), but the delivery experience left much to be desired.
