They always do a nice lion cut, perfectly trimmed around the areas where kitty gets mats (he has long, fine fur, so it does happen occasionally, especially under the neck line or around the collar). With the lion cut close to the skin (never had any nicks or cuts!), he stays looking great for months before his next visit. They handled my cat perfectly even though he has some anxiety issues and he looked so cute when I picked him up. Since it's cats only it's a much lower stress environment than other groomers I've tried. They also have a bunch of birds for the cats to watch and mine was obsessed! I swear he didn't want to leave. It's been about 2 weeks post appointment and I still smell his shampoo which is a faint pleasant scent and really impressive since he's usually the lord of stinkiness. First, I was originally scheduled in August to do the grooming, but after a cancellation, Kitty City was able to text me about an earlier slot and I happily obliged. Since my cat has heart failure, Kitty Cat salon opted to do just a lion's mane shave and no bath. There was some dispute as to how/if the price should be adjusted to account for the changed service, but the Kitty City staff was very kind, understanding and willing to listen to feedback about clarifying charges regarding their variety of services (cannot say the same for PetSmart!) They were amazing at reminding me when my cats were scheduled and offered me open spots when available. Super great communication, they answered all questions I had about treatment options and gave advice when I asked for it! On the actual day of service, drop off was super easy. The woman who helped me was very sweet and went through the whole process with me before I left so I had an idea of what their service looked like. Pick up was just as easy! I received two cute photos of my cats sitting in front of a Halloween setup and was informed they were ready to be picked up. Upon arrival, I had everything laid out in front of me in terms of how my cats did, what treatments they received, and the price breakdown - no room for questioning anything! On top of amazing people and service, they included a few Halloween themed toys for my cats including little blankets for them to take home as well. I had no idea they were going to add little things like that, and it honestly made my whole day. I was a tad nervous about leaving them in their hands due to a bad past experience with another place that offered cat services (see my only other cat related review to know where to avoid), but Kitty City Salon did the absolute BEST at reassuring me and helping my cats feel safe. After my cats' last BAD experience, they were acting disoriented and uncomfortable for a few hours. Immediately once my kitties came home today, they were their same old happy selves - this is how I REALLY know Kitty City Salon took care of them. I honestly couldn't have asked for better service. I cannot recommend this place enough!! I happened upon them through a random Google search for cat groomers back in October. My Russian rag doll Vanilla Bean hadn't been cut professionally in almost two years due to the pandemic and he had become matted in places that were hard to remove. They did an absolutely phenomenal job cutting him and they were timely and very communicative. Beans smelled amazing like a fresh bath for months I'm not kidding. They also gave him his own cat blanket that he still uses and a tiny toy to take home! I brought my long-haired cat to Cathy today. She was rather heavily matted (my cat, not Cathy). I opted to subject my cat to a lion cut in order to address the matting. I'm very pleased with the outcome. Jury is still out on what my cat thinks, but I have to think she's happier without the mats causing her pain! We were told it would take 3 hours but they were done in two :) she looked lovely and was so soft and smelled like a floral meadow. I was surprised how calm she was on the ride home too. First time coming to Kitty City Salon and my kitty got her lion cut. She came home smelling wonderful. Staff was friendly when I came in with my Dad and sister. When we got home we noticed that her nail was bleeding, so they must have cut the quick too short. Overall, great experience but would have been 5 stars if it wasn't for the nail bleeding. Update: My kitty had another nail that was cut too short and we went to a vet to check it out. She said she will be okay and the bleeding was stopped. Our cat has been squinting probably due to hair in her eye, but she now has infection from rubbing it. I wanted to love this place but my cat seemed traumatized after all the things that happened to her with the nails and her eye bothering her. read more

From the moment I made the appointment, I felt the people working here were special. Little did I know that they would treat our beloved girl as if she was their own! WOW! I couldn't believe how soft and fluffy my cat's coat was after the appointment. There was matted fur that I thought would have to be shaved off, but their expertise was enough to make my cat's coat look amazing without shaving. Kitty City was amazing! Duke my one year old Himalayan Cat has had some horrible experiences being groomed . I would say it's not his favorite past time. Because of this he has developed many knots close to his skin which were causing him pain . Two months ago I paid for a full lion cut from a mobile spa ( they make you pay ahead 179$) when your kitty is finished being washed they contact via phone to come get I did so and without checking to see if he was completed and I went inside. I took him out of his carrier and he was wet and had long uneven hair with several knots left . I called back to request that he be finished and they said he was clipper aggressive do to my lack of proper care and he know will always associate fear and grooming causing a traumatic response ! They offered for me to pay them again to come back in 4 weeks to finish?! What NO thanks MEOW CHICAGO. Thanks to the wonderful talented ladies at Kitty City Salon Duke is knot free and loving his new Lion Cut ! He has been running , prancing and jumping around like a new Cat!! I'm so thankful ! He looks and smells great and most of all is happy and pain free. This place is great for cats with anxiety as it is small, DUKE WAS THE ONLY KITTY IN THERE. Due to extreme allergies we decided to try having our cat shaved. After doing research we decided to use Kitty City and I cannot say enough good things about our experience. Being the first time grooming our cat I had so many questions and they were very patient with me on the phone prior to setting up our appointment.
