Ridiculous experience trying to contact Kits Eyecare and ask a couple of simple questions. Went to the website and didn't find answers there so, as one does, took the phone number and gave them a call. Silly me! I actually expected a person, or at least voicemail, to answer, but no such luck. Tried half a dozen times over two days and my calls went unanswered. Well how weird is that?, I wondered. Next move was back to the website to input my question into the chat window. Of course the only one to reply is Amy the AI chatbot who tells me I'll have to ask an actual person at the shop. What did "she" think I was trying to do? Lucky I have endless amounts of time to waste, trying to ask a simple question of a local business. Next, I send an email to KIts.ca, mentioning Kitisilano, saying I'm in Kitsilano, and asking my questions. Lo and behold, who do you think responds? None other than AI Amy, who advises me she has no idea what the answers are to my questions so I'll have to speak with someone in the shop!!! Is this a joke? April Fool's Day is over, people, so how about you stop your juvenile pranks and start providing actual customer service? Oh, and the kicker is, she asks me to let her know what location I'm interested in and would I like her to help me connect with that location? How many locations do you have in Kitsilano, Kits Cafe and Eyecare (or whatever you're called). Last time I checked, there was ONE!!! So what's all this nonsense about "which location"? No thanks, Amy AI, I'll do without glasses if your shop is the only option. Which it isn't. After all this time-wasting aggro I called another local optical shop and what a bizarre experience that was! They actually picked up the phone, answered my questions, and made an appointment for me for a free optometry exam. Lesson learned. Kits Cafe and Eyecare, you score a big fat 0/10!!! I recently made a direct purchase through the personalized service feature at KITS for my first-ever KITS frames, and it was a wonderful experience! I usually just order the entire pair of glasses online at similar sites without interacting with anyone directly, but they offered a "first purchase" pair of glasses after I bought contact lenses from their sister site (ContactsExpress). Their customer service team assisted me with each step of the entire glasses selection + purchase process, and even though I usually prefer to just order them directly through an online site, I did appreciate the quality care and detail their team provided throughout the process... it's definitely a nice option to consider, especially if the customer has any questions or uncertainty regarding their products. The glasses arrived super fast; I was informed delivery could take up to a few business days, but they arrived the next day. The glasses were nestled in a nicer container than other online sites I've used, and they were packaged with extreme care. Honestly, I wasn't expecting too much with the glasses because based on extensive experience with other sites, I know better than to get my hopes up until I actually try the frames on. Many times, frames look slightly off when trying them on for the first time even after using other sites' virtual try-on tools. But wow, when I tried on these first pair of KITS glasses, I was blown away because they looked great for my face... and I'm super picky after going through a lifetime of frames! I'm constantly on the lookout for frames that work well with my features, and I rarely experience the feeling that hit me when I tried the KITS glasses on. They were so awesome, in fact, that I proceeded to order two more using a Boxing Day promotion through their site. I do understand that I was probably just very lucky the stars aligned with my first-ever KITS frames as I almost never feel this way when purchasing new glasses (not just online... sometimes even after I take them home from a physical store). Whatever the case, I was extremely happy and more than pleasantly surprised with the outcome. Another great thing about KITS is that they have an actual physical store (yes, in Kitsilano) in addition to their online sites for glasses and contacts. I love this because I can 1) head over there and talk to someone directly if the need ever arises, and 2) pick out frames I'm interested in via their online sites then stop by with my wish list in hand to actually try them out... no more hassle of sending glasses back and forth hoping another pair will work with my face as is the case with other online-only glasses vendors. Because of this great first experience, I can definitely see myself turning into a lifelong KITS fan! read more

Spent a wonderful morning at KITS Eyecare & Cafe. There's nothing quite like starting your day with a dreamy matcha latte and a pistachio cream croissant! I absolutely love the concept of browsing frames while enjoying a treat. The main mission was to find new glasses, and the staff was incredible. They were super helpful in selecting styles that suited my face shape and took precise measurements to ensure a perfect fit. I ended up purchasing two pairs with progressive lenses (sigh, the time has come!). My glasses arrived within just one week and were perfect right out of the box--no adjustments needed at all. so I ordered another pair of glasses from them. its very hard to find plastic/acetate frames with adjustable nose pads, and they have several. big plus. As before, their online shopping experience is super straight forward. Pricing is very reasonable. Quality of their kits branded frames is just ok, still feels cheap. Their lenses are fine. But value for money? excellent. They do offer name brand frames too mostly from the luxxotica conglomerate and nothing special. I would go with their house brand frames. Similar quality and way better value. They do not seem to carry the smaller boutique brands which I find are usually much better quality (but also more expensive). This time I did go to the store to get my glasses adjusted. When you walk in theres a QR code sign you scan to get on the waiting list. within a few mins my name was called and the lady adjusted my glasses. quick, simple. The place is a somewhat bizarre concept. It is a fully fledged coffee shop serving everything you'd expect plus several other items you dont (strawberry matcha anyone?). I didnt get a drink as I was short on time and its pretty busy. The rest of the store is a frames showroom basically. The staff (in kits t-shirts) help customers in the showroom and use the few computer stations in the store to manage your orders etc. All imacs. Combined with their wooden tables, it gives an "apple store" vibe but very crowded. They ship all your orders to your home. Its right across kits beach. Parking around here is very difficult, street only and scarce. very bike friendly though. I would say their online experience and service is 5/5. Their storefront/location/brand selection/frames quality are just ok. 4/5 overall is fair. Still an easy recommend. read more

I decided to drive to Kitsilano Beach when I thought it will be sunny and occassionally cloudy. It drizzled! Parking is tough to find as most parking around the neighborhood was for residence. There's paid parking right beside the beach! I chanced upon this coffee shop as I was walking along Yew St. There are plenty of restaurants to try along this street. I was not sure what the store was as I see eye glass displays from outside the window. It was not until a customer walked out with coffee cup in hand that I had a clue it was a coffee shop. Their cups doesn't even have a logo or name. The name is just Kits. Kits. I had no clue what it is. I ordered a cup of regular coffee. Price is decent. Taste is ok. Nothing out of the ordinary. There's enough seats including bar stools by the window facing the beach across the street. I tried to find something to like about this place but nothing really stood out for me. I know they had good reviews as an optical store, but I was there for coffee, and as a coffeeshop it felt weird having coffee while other people are shopping for eye glasses. That's just me. Maybe someone else will find this appealing. I don't get the coffee shop, the optical shop, and the name Kits all in one. read more

I had the best experience with Clive at the Kitsilano store. For 3 and 1/2 hours she put up with me in a very kind and professional manner. She didn't try to oversell but was honest and informative and I walked away with 2 pairs of progressives and will be back in the spring for sunglasses. You know that Yelp is officially dead when one of the best coffee places in the city has zero reviews but with a perfect 5 on google--the best in Vancouver. In fact, the proprietor proudly told me they had the top reviews over any small business on google. Owner Leo tells me they pay their baristas a fair wage so there is no tipping obligation or requirement and they recycle absolutely everything. The whole eye glass thing combo was a bit dubious at first, but oddly after breaking my sunnies and knowing I need a pair of low dose glasses, I am thinking of purchasing some from here before I leave. The coffee is better than any in Kits! No word of a lie! And I have tried them all. The free water is a bonus, and most of all, the sunglasses they offered on the beach as a promo were an instant hit with my non sunglass wearing 5 year old. I love everything about this place, except maybe it's a bit quiet for a family. They also offer free oatmilk in your coffee. Never thought I would find a replacement for 49th parallel or even Jj bean but there you have it. It's just a bit sad if this mean the demise of Yelp--in Vancouver at least--but glad that we found it, with or without Yelp. read more

At first, I wasn't sure if I should have made a new listing for this place. It is a coffee shop and eye wear centre all in one place. This place is very interesting because it is surrounded by eye glasses and sun glasses. Basically I feel like I am in my opticians shop except that you can order coffee and everyone else around you is drinking coffee. I actually remember this place being a Starbucks back in the day so it is nice that this space is still a community hub for people to grab a coffee, study/work on their laptop and talk to their neighbor and friends. The coffee is reasonably priced and the baristas are friendly. I see a room for eye exams if you are here to get a prescription but I haven't tried the optician here yet. But this coffee shop does make me want to at the least inquire about getting an eye exam. This place is pretty neat and right across from the beach. read more

I came upon this cafe/ optometrist on my daily walk. It's really a great place. Everyone is so friendly and as a senior the low cost exam and glasses were such a blessing. There are all types of frames and sunglasses to choose from and it's really a funky little cafe. The young man from Scotland who helped me with my purchase is really good at his job. I felt so welcomed here even though the place was filled with young people. As a senior, I appreciated the respect I received from those who served me. Highly recommend this place if you need affordable eyewear or simply a hot cup of coffee. I'm heading there today to buy another pair of glasses. Thank you so much. read more

I ordered glasses for my gf a lil over a week ago and they said shipping was 4-5 business days. When she first contacted them about the glasses yesterday(I think) they told her there was a problem with the glasses and they had to remake them. She called again today and they told them there was another problem with the free set of sunglassses we were supposed to get. So we were told they'd be shipped seperately. We then got an email saying our package was shipped after she complained(even though on the call they said theres no one in today to ship it) so we called in and it turns out the package was not shipped and they just sent that email I guess to satisfy us. So I checked the shipping and it said Canada Post shipping. but they're currently on strike so of course that wouldn't be a valid shipping solution. So i then called in to complain about the beating around the bush and bs they were saying to us, and the guy basically just lied to me and told me to just cancel my order... I get Canada post going on strike but why lie and beat around the bush so much, and why not just ship using something else like purlator? Or just say that. And even though I'm from Surrey and Kits is in Vancouver and the warehouse the glasses are supposedly at is in Burnaby. Apparently I still can't just drive there and pick them up. they also said the time it takes for them to get it from the warehouse is the same time shipping would take, which makes ZERO sense cause shipping has taken a week already and driving to Burnaby takes 30 minutes... shipping shouldnt be an excuse to lie to customers, I prefer a company with transparency.
