I hired Kitchen 12000 for an engagement party at my house based largely on their yelp reviews. I was a little suspicious that the company had such consistently high reviews, but after having them cater the event I definitely understand why they have such satisfied customers and such great reviews. We plan on hiring them again in the future and I highly recommend their services. First and foremost, the food was outstanding. Everything was perfectly cooked and tasted great. The guests talked about the food for a week after the event. But, on top of being great chefs, Kitchen 12000 had a number of other great traits: -The prices were better than other competing highly ranked catering companies in the area. -The staff was easy to work with leading up to the event. -On the date of the event we had forgotten to rent some items and Kitchen 12000 came through in a pinch and got us the items we needed. And, on top of that they comped us on the last minute rentals. -The staff members kept the kitchen clean and orderly and they were polite to all the guests. -The staff at our event were surprisingly young (20's) and surprisingly professional. It was a balance that made us feel like everything was not only taken care of, but that the party was going to be enjoyable. I can't recommend their services highly enough. Kitchen 12000 catered our company holiday party last week (12/14/11) and I can't say enough wonderful things about them. My boss put me in charge to plan & decorate their FIRST holiday party in less than 3 weeks! You can imagine the stress that I was under-- we found Kitchen12000 on Yelp and I did my research. If you haven't already, definitely check out their website, because it gives you an idea of their cool, creative, and hip services. I called many places and MANY people were NOT responsive. Michael was on top of EVERYTHING! He responded to all my emails, billions of questions, nitpicked through each service (from decorations, appetizers, to deserts, to the type of wine that will be served, etc , etc, etc). He was VERY VERY VERY pleasant, patient and understanding. He accommodated us (my boss) in EVERYTHING that he wanted for the party. Even tho his services were a little pricey HE sold me on the way he handled things. I honestly felt like he cared and REALLY wanted to make this happen for me. I'm sure he didn't profit much from us even tho he should have- I'm sure I was pretty annoying making changes a billion times- but he was definitely professional , fun & kept his word (making an awesome/worry-free party!!!)! Michael checked out the venue himself and put together something simple and elegant for a small business party. I had no idea what to expect as we did this ALL via email and a hand full of phone calls. The Venue had MANY restrictions as to what was/was not allowed as far as decorating the venue. I thought this was going to make the place look cheap and lame without the candles, balloons, wall decorations, etc. but Michael was able to pull it off- he had black table cloth with beautiful white wooden chairs, mini-standing tables for people to mingle by the bar, & beautiful flower center pieces. The staff were well dressed (especially the girls- in CUTE skirts-not skimpy looking), pleasant & professional. Everything went as planned and the night flowed SMOOTHLY! The guests LOVED the food, deserts, decorations, and alcohol. There was plenty to go around! Michael, THANK YOU- you definitely made me look good in planning this event and I PROMISE you that I will use you again for future events! Wow! K12000 is as good as it gets when it comes to the catering world. We hired them to cater my 35th birthday party and were blown away by their level of professionalism and knowledge of how to quickly navigate our home and figure out the best set up and decor for the party. They also came up with a creative menu- we wanted a Mediterranean theme and they put together a beautiful spread of kebabs, hummus, pita chips, dips, salad, and the presentation was so thoughtful it made you want to keep eating!! Katy was the lead and she not only was on top of every detail, but also very sweet, punctual and just amazing at her job. You can tell she has been doing this awhile because she was a party planning expert. And they also provided amazing bartenders who were so much fun. We had two female bartenders and they came up with an amazing signature cocktail that the crowd kept drinking all night long- and they were so friendly and fun to have at the party. I hired K12000 - because I liked their website. Ok - I know this wasn't the most scientific way. I had a 3 day event planned at JPL in Pasadena and a big (100 person) Saturday night event planned for the final celebration. I'm on the east coast - don't know anyone that knows any caterers or event folks in the LA area. All I could think of was - "oh this is going to be super expensive - and I'm only going to get a shrimp on a small cracker"! I just jumped in and started working with Nonee - the owner. She and her brother Michael make the whole experience easy - and so fun. I had big time people at my event that all world travelers and they all kept saying "this is the best food I've ever had at an event or a conference". Kitchen12000 gave me such a variety of foods - not just bland chicken on rice.....it was flavorful - and smelled even better and everything had great taste. (Note to other caterers - herbs and spices and care works!) Presentation was lovely - and the serving staff was just too good. Yippee ! I looked like a hero. It was such a pleasure to work with this team all the way through. They are truly doing what God made them for! I don't know how they select their staff - but they were also truly wonderful. Each time I asked for something - they would say "we're on it" or "yes - we can do that"...not once did I hear "that' too hard" or "we're not allowed to do that"...."can you get someone to help us?". They had the freedom/empowering them to make on the spot decisions - for the good of the customer. The prices were reasonable - actually they made me wonder how they could do what they did for the prices they gave me. Michael handled our Saturday night event and was perfect for our group - I asked him to speak about his company - as a thank you for giving us such great food and service the past couple of days..... and he truly gave the crowd an experience! He and Nonee love what they do - and it shows in everything they do for the customer. Nonee and her team all worked very hard to make our event great. I knew from the first conversation that I could trust them and felt safe with them to give us a great event with a fair price and "something different". Difference makes a difference. Where do I begin? We were planning our Engagement party at our home for 200 people, and really had no idea where to start! My father in law is a caterer himself, so the food was a big priority. We met with many caterers, but none seemed to have the charisma and energy as Kitchen 12000. We hired their team instantly, and we couldn't have been luckier! I live in San Francisco and needed to plan for an event in LA. After yelping "catering" I wrote down the 3 phone numbers of the highest rated caterers in LA. I randomly called Kitchen12000 first and during that first 5 minute phone call they had solved so many problems for me that I didn't, even by inertia, call the other 2 options! I had no plan of how I wanted the event to be catered and was hoping I could just let them take over and do all the planing, and they did. In the first 5 minutes they asked me key questions which I could easily answer and a couple of days later I got an e-mail with a document outlining their ideas including food items, decoration, staff required, etc and a quote. I just had to mark what I liked better and e-mail it back. They also went to check out the location where the event was going to take place at. We decided on details over e-mail mostly which is good because I'm a busy person that avoids time phone calls. I got personalized attention from Lex who took care of any little detail and last minute changes. I finally met Lex and his staff on the day of the event and was blown away by what they had put together. It has been over a year since Kitchen12000 catered our wedding so this is definitely long overdue. We are so fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with None and Michael, a dynamic duo! From our initial meeting we knew that they would provide great service and amazing food but most importantly we were thrilled to be working with extremely kind, positive, truly great people. They met us at our venue before we booked them, we had multiple meetings thereafter and they had already started on working on our event without even signing a contract. We really felt that they were passionate about what they did and that it was not just about making money, unlike other vendors we had met with. I was the extremely meticulous, detail-oriented, micro-managing bride who sent out a lot of emails and needed a lot of communication. Not only were they always super responsive to phone calls & emails but they only got more and more excited leading up to our big day. Usually after a contract is signed vendors become harder to reach, but this was not the case with k12000. I was completely at ease and was able to relax because I knew they were on top of it all. Not only were they on top of what they were in charge of but Nonee even sent me emails checking in to ensure we got what we needed from rentals and other vendors. They recommended vendors they had worked with, who were also just as professional and amazing as they were. Our wedding was at Hummingbird Nest Ranch, an outdoor event...which was difficult to cater due to a lot of restrictions the site had. Our cocktail and reception set up sites were limited in space and did not have all the things k12000 needed for their set up. Nevertheless, they rocked it out without a hitch and we never knew a thing about any of this. Now to the best part, THE FOOD! ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! None and Michael helped us come up with the perfect menu, we had a blast tasting everything few weeks before our wedding date. That was our favorite part of the entire wedding planning process. They made it look so effortless and we enjoyed it so much! All of our guests could not stop raving about the food for weeks after our wedding. All of their ingredients were fresh, presentation was beautiful. Staff was courteous and attentive. I could not have been happier with them. Planning our event with Nonee was wonderful, she's great to work with. She has a great attitude, lots of enthusiasm, and brought some really fresh ideas to our event. Made some great suggestions for food. We went with the Mediterranean buffet and it was AMAZING. Everything was fresh, really delicious, and plenty of food. Best Hummus ever! Passed appitezers, the bacon wrapped dates were especially good. The desserts were little cake balls dipped in chocolate - decadent...... heard great things about the Baklava. I will supplement what many other people have claimed, that is K12000 is most likely the best catering service out there. As a chef myself, trying to find a good match to cater the party for our wedding was really important. K12000 from the start was so friendly and fun, they worked with a pretty tight budget and listened to all my ideas and restrictions for the menu. The final product was phenomenal, the food was spectacular, the staff is so nice and delightfully quirky, they made the party even more fun. And the best part was, i didn't have to stress at all, i felt so comfortable with them taking the reins, it was a huge relief. Nonee and Michael are incredibly resourceful, fantastically friendly and so easy to get along with. Then to top it off, they even went above and beyond what i thought was possible and brought a few fabulous surprises for the day of the event, including a delicious selection of mesquite grilled meats they made in the backyard.
