I hired Crateful Catering for a large party I gave last November that was supposed to be indoor-outdoor but-- due to freakishly heavy rains--had to be held indoors. Gregory was attentive throughout the planning process and setup, and the staff (with the exception of one spacially challenged waiter, who repeatedly bumped one of my guests during service) navigated a very crowded house. The food and drink were wonderful, and everyone enjoyed the party. The reason I can't give Crateful five stars is the aftermath: the kitchen was left in disarray, with furniture and a heavy food processor not returned to their places. The floor was so wet that it was dangerous--my son had to mop it dry while guests were still present. Rental glassware was left right side up in the rain, and garbage--bags and loose trash--was scattered on my deck and patio. When the rental guy came the next day, he had to empty each glass before taking inventory, at which point he discovered a tablecloth was missing. He told me "they always do this". For this reason I won't use Crateful Catering again--for $10k I expect my house and grounds to be left in their original orderly condition. read more

So grateful to have found Crateful! (sorry I had to) I work in music video and commercial production and it's so difficult to find quality catering vendors at a reasonable price. Gregory at Crateful was a delight to communicate with and I felt really taken care of. Everyone on set was so impressed with the spread. The quality of the food, the amount of food, and the price was just perfect. I've had a lot of caterers that say they'll feed the headcount that I give them and then the worst happens and we end up not having enough food for everyone. This was far from the case here. If you're deciding on menu items, I highly suggest the Turmeric & Yogurt Marinated Chicken. It was everyone's favorite. After thoroughly evaluating over 20 caterers, we had booked Crateful for our wedding over 1.5 years ago, but we'd had to delay it until recently for obvious reasons. Throughout the entire time, Emanuele was flexible, responsive, and professional as we navigated the pandemic together. Even when our guest count dropped from 175 to 125 due to the Delta variant and other life events, Emanuele worked with us to make the experience even better for the guests who could make it. His creative vision, attention to detail, and dedication to his craft are second to none. We asked for cuisine to reflect the diverse countries we've visited, and he presented an amazing menu of tasty and beautiful options. The food was some of the best I've ever had at any wedding. Our venue (City View Penthouse at South Park Center) was on the 30th floor of a skyscraper but required the kitchen to be set up in a parking lot outdoors, with all food being transported via elevators. Not a problem for Crateful, as Emanuele directed his staff towards flawless execution in an extremely challenging environment. Even though we booked a different vendor for bartending, Crateful stepped in to cover some of their missteps during the event. We couldn't have asked for a better caterer to make our event so memorable. read more

We booked Crateful only a couple of weeks prior to the event -- the event being a milestone birthday for me. Greg was attentive and quick to respond at every step of the way. They even facilitated a tasting at the last minute, which they do as an included service to booking with them. Emanuele took very good care of us during that tasting - providing an entire feast! We definitely were not prepared for all of that food. Haha. On the day of the party, Crateful and their team, led by Greg and Anna Lynn, were outstanding. They figured everything out on their own, set the tables beautifully, and finished all of the remaining finishing touches. The service and food were outstanding. We had a room full of people with fine taste, and crateful met every expectation and beyond. Once the event was over, they left the kitchen and "service" areas (my breakfast room) cleaner than they has received it! Absolutely spectacular job. 100% honest review. A Whole Lot of talk and not a lot of delivery. Our wedding planner told us these guys were exceptional, so we booked them for our small wedding. Promises and promises made. Nice staff, but the owner/manager did NOT deliver what we ordered. You pay premium prices for cafeteria quality food. Hors d'oeuvres are so tiny a fly could have picked up two and flown off. Their "steak" is a complete joke. $80-$100 a plate gets you $10 of cafeteria food. My wife cried after the dinner because of such a horrible job they did. Rips out my heart strings to even type that. Where to start? Emanuele catered my fabulous wedding at the Houdini Estate here in Los Angeles. He and his entire team at Crateful Catering were AMAZING! First of all, I'm an Italian American - so it was important for me to have authentic Italian food. They knocked it out of the park with a number of Italian dishes including a fabulous Cacio e Pepe. That said, we also had a mix of appetizers, a charcuterie table, sliders and even a taco bar - so it was a really well-rounded presentation that gave our guests a number of options. Emanuele personally took the time to attend our pre-event walkthrough. He was also very responsive including answering after hours calls/texts when I needed to reach him - which is great because I'm usually busy with my companies during the day. He was available to talk when I was, which if you know anything about planning a wedding, you know that it can be stressful at times if you can't reach your vendors. I never had that problem with Emanuele. At one point we even had a little issue with the venue in terms of some contractual/layout items pertaining to the catering kitchen - and Emanuele was able to personally call in some favors with the venue owner to make a few things happen for us. In all, if you're looking for a standup guy, with a great company, to provide excellent customer service and even better food - particularly if you want anything Italian - don't hesitate to go with Emanuele Ponzo and Crateful Catering.
